I believe, from Hak’s reaction here (chapter 243), that he never truly moved on.

He says he will forget his vow to Suwon now, like he never did, until this very moment.

Now he says “there is no going back”.

He was waiting for an occasion to hear an explanation from Suwon but he never got the chance to talk to him before.

He was somehow hanging on the possibility that things could be solved, that things could return to the way he imagined them to be when they were all still happily living at the castle.

And now he is realizing it's not possible, it never was.

He is realizing he needs to let go of that hope that kept him going on until now.

And it hurts.

The way hak is so tsundere when it comes to soo won

Chapter 241

The first situation hak bleeding, inable to stand, let alone fight, surpassing his limits to get him the herbs only to say it wasn't me but yoon.

The second situation hak rushing toward soo won side protecting him from a certain death. It might be indeed his job, but I doubt at that moment hak was thinking of this job, in the end, it will take more than the responsibility of sky tribe's soliders for hak to protect soo won.

In both situations, hak averts his eyes, trying to find the words to make it sound like he did nothing special.

I originally drew this SuHak last year as a birthday gift for my precious friend Lumen (@/Ann_archyy) on Twitter~ Manifesting SuHak!

I always feel like seeing my friends' works reignites my love for this ship. And of course, seeing everyones' passion for it! It makes me remember what I love so much about the ship.

When I drew this last year, I wanted to make their expressions soft and tender. Suwon was very fun to draw :) I loved drawing Suwon and his hair, heehee. Thank you king!!! 👑 And Hak's colours were fun. I love warm lighting, and colouring gold, so this was a treat 😌✨

This was inspired by foggydevil's SuHak fic, pale blue solace

I had the mood and atmosphere of the fic in mind while I drew! Her SuHak fic is beautifully written. I love reading her writing, it's so atmospheric and poetic... I love the prose. Her writing style reminds me of poems... It was pale blue solace that inspired me to choose the colours and atmosphere in this.

I was thinking about Suwon's association to gold and the warmth of the sun, so I chose more cool colours for Hak and the shadows of his clothes 🙏

I'm happy that my friends said they could feel the atmosphere of pale blue solace in this drawing due to the contrast between golden colours and pale colours. Sun/Moon symbolism...

The gold tones are a reference to Suwon who is the sun. I love the colours of the 2nd one. I chose those colours for warm and cool colours contrast, and I also chose the cooler toned one to match the atmosphere of pale blue solace!

No matter how bad AkaYona got and decayed in terms of writing quality, I'm still so glad I met many of my friends because of it <3 I’m glad for everyone’s team effort in creating SuHak content~ It makes up for how badly written Ch. 243 was.

There is so much emotion coming from Hak in this interaction. He’s mad on SooWon’s behalf because the man is both sick and injured yet insisted on wearing heavy armor. He’s uncomfortable that he cares this much about SooWon so he hides his face to try and distance himself. Hak isn’t very good at being honest about how he feels and can’t bring himself to actually chastise SooWon for pushing himself, but he also can’t stop himself from doing something when someone he cares for is in pain. This results in Hak awkwardly blurting out an order to someone he’s always been aware of as having a higher status than him - this also means he views them more as equals now, in a way he wasn’t able to before.

And then there’s SooWon. He accepts Hak’s direction without any pushback, when with everyone else he’s been stubborn in fulfilling his duty to the extreme. I think it’s because he knows Hak isn’t preventing him from continuing but rather accommodating him so that he can keep going. The armor is symbolic of their vulnerability, and the fact that not only does Hak assist him in removing it without hesitation or gripe but also that SooWon actually reached out for help is such a beautiful moment for these two. Hak is allowed a physical action as a display of his care so he can more easily segue into an emotionally sensitive conversation (words are hard, people), and SooWon opens the door for collaboration by taking the first step in accepting his weakness and asking for help.

I agree. But I'd have loved it if instead of talking abt what Soo-Won could've done differently, Hak would have talked abt sharing the responsibilities together for future or atleast considered how he too could have done things a bit differently as a general.

Do you understand the symbolic significance of hak reaching down to help soowon up that ladder to the top? Of him demanding, finally in that moment, that soowon takes his armor off? Of him even going a step further and helping soowon untie the knots at his sides? Of him lifting the heavy metal plates off of his shoulders? Of soowon heaving a big sigh of relief right after?

Of all of this taking place atop hiryuu castle?

Of hak, hak who has struggled so much with the emotional ramifications of soowon's betrayal. Who, for the longest time, could turn to nothing but violence and hatred and resentment in an attempt to make sense of it all

Of this very same hak ending this chapter with the acknowledgement that if nothing else, he'd always unwaveringly believed in soowon's intelligence, in his immense love for this country and in his iron will to see that love through? Of him telling soowon, frankly and without holding back, that he believes truly and wholeheartedly that if given the chance, soowon would do things differently?
