Parque de Apolo was built in 1994 by the Museo del Cabrero to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of four-time Colombia’s President Rafael Núñez who also wrote the lyrics of Colombia’s national anthem. • Located just across the street from Rafael Núñez’s house and the Ermita del Cabrero where his body lies. The Iglesia Nuestra Señora de Los Mercedes in the park was a memorial built for Rafael Núñez by his wife. • There is a circular monument in the Roman style with nine bronze busts on a marble pedestal honoring Domingo Biohó, Cacique Carex, Pedro Zapata de Mendoza, Sebastián de Estava, General Juan José Nieto, Vicente Celedonio Piñeres, Miguel Antonio Caro, José María Campo Serrano, And Rafael Núñez. • In the park there are two other busts honoring historian Eduardo Lamaître, and Soledad Román who was Rafael Núñez wife. There’s a full body statue of Rafael Núñez moving forward with the 1886 Colombian constitution manuscript under his arm. • If you’ll visit this park take a taxi there and go early so you can visit the museum house and walk around the park. The park is a little unkept and solitary so make sure you visit it with someone else. It feels a little eerie and too quiet there. I walked there through the walled city and it was unnerving because I didn’t know what I’d encounter outside the walled city which is just next to it, but it can be a little isolated and abandoned. After a hot day on beach there was nothing better than eating seafood at Buena Vida Marisquería (Good Life Seafood) in the center of the walled city. It was just so fresh and delicious! • The staff is so friendly and welcoming; everyone welcomes you as soon as you walk in, everyone checks in with you to make sure the food and drinks are of your liking, and they’re taking care of every detail of your dining experience. • My waiter, Kevin, was such a nice guy and the DJ was playing the best mixed beats and I was singing along and enjoying the chilled atmosphere and the good vibes. • What a great dining experience even if the rooftop wasn’t opened; they had an private event up there. It’s ok. I’ll go back tomorrow for more!!! • The food was exceptional that I just couldn’t get one thing. As started I ordered the Buena Vida seafood cocktail with a delicious mixture of seafood and veggies, and the Sangría Latina cocktail with watermelon juice. So good and refreshing! 🍷 • As the first main dish I ordered the Full Fried and Crunchy Red Snapper served with sweet coconut rice, thick and soft patacones, grilled peppers, and a delicious sauce called Tiger Milk to bathe the fish in it, and a delicious and refreshing Cuba Libre drink 🦐🐙🦑🦀🐟 • The portions were big enough, but I was still hungry so I ordered the Bowl Cartagenero with sweet coconut rice, shrimp, sweet fried plantain, fried cheese, avocado salad, and golden plantain chips. Boy, that was so amazing! • As dessert a cup of delicious raspberry and lichee frozen yogurt from Goyurt. That was also so delicious! • Today was a really good day with great beach weather, delicious food and drinks, and only good energy.
