For anyone who thinks that scientists in movies, shows, or writing are done too stereotypically sometimes, please know that I have:
1 - Seen someone in the lab use a variation of "In English, please" as a response to someone else's detailed and very technical explanation. They had two different fields of study so one person's word choice was confusing to the other person.
2 - Worn a lab coat around the house because it has so many pockets.
3 - Been so engrossed in a new museum exhibit that I (as I found out years later) didn't see two of my coworkers on a date behind me. They literally brought me, I was just super excited for dinosaurs.
4 - Just made two Punnett squares to try and explain how my chickens have started laying very unusual color eggs.
So if you are ever writing a scientist character and think you're being too stereotypical, just know that you probably aren't.
Also the lab (about 20 people) got into a day and a half long yelling match once over if a stuffed rabbit could be called a teddy bear, which deeply confused management. We never even all agreed, we just mutually decided to drop it.
