no one--including our downstairs duplex neighbors, i'm sure, has ever truly gotten to know the huge silver maple on our front lawn, in the past 5 years i've lived here. tonight i realized my error and sat with my back against it a while. i hope maybe it will tell me its name in dreams, as i politely requested, but regardless I hope it knows i love it.
