I know this is going to come across as “typical tumblr anti-capitalist” but believe me I know capitalism is the only viable option.

But it’s really frustrating that there isn’t really a viable solution to dealing with corporations who, not only just do illegal shit, but shit that’s legal but still morally corrupt.

Thinking specifically of the topic that brought this to mind, the whole Take Two Borderlands 3 fiasco going on where #BoycottBorderlands3 is trending on Twitter, but yet A) it’s not going to be effective at all because most people don’t care and really why should they, it’s an incident that only impacts a single YouTuber.

And B) it’s very unlikely that Gearbox themselves are to blame for sending P.I.s to a YouTuber’s house to intimidate him, or file false copyright claims, or shut down his Discord server, or libeling him in ‘news’ articles, so I don’t feel like they should be made to suffer for the crimes of their publisher.

Other than voting with your wallets, what option is there? We talk about the issues, but talk lasts a week at best and then the next scandal wipes it away.
