Good morning to us and evening to you from Japan! What a long but pleasant day we had yesterday. We woke up feeling ready to take on the day, confident we had escaped the effects of jet lag.

Boy were we wrong as you can see! Exhaustion set in around 6:00pm and the ride back to Narita was painfully long icluding multiple transfers from trains and buses. We left the town of Ebina (where Bethel is located) at rush hour, packed in like sardines for an extremely warm ride of about 45 minutes or so back into Tokyo where we transfered to another train to Narita.

Let me back up to the beginning of the day, post seaweed and fish eggs... We LOVED visiting Bethel (Branch office of JW’s, located in the suberban town of Ebina, an hour or so south of Tokyo)! When we started out the day, full of energy and ambition, we had orginally thought we would go to Bethel for a tour, head back into Tokyo for dinner and end the day by attending an English speaking mid week meeting downtown Tokyo. Not so. Our Bethel visit ended up being a full, yet rewarding, day’s endeavor. Despite our early start, we didn’t arrive at Bethel until 2:00pm and with the on premises museum, our tour lasted until 5pm. After arriving at the train station, we embarked on a pleasant 2 mile walk to Bethel affording us the oppertunity to take in the local feel of the area. We saw many interesting things: the fire station, bikers, high school students running track, rice paddies, town gardens, mountains in the distance, a creekside path with ducks, gardeners pruning trees at the local restaurants... it’s such a pleasure to take in the local scene!

We were warmly greeted with friendliness and big smiles once we reached our destination! There are beautiful gardens on Bethel grounds.
