Not to stir the disc horse from its ancient slumber but this needs to be said.
the people crying about the fiona and cake finale ruining Petrigrof are the same idiots who thought SU:F ruined Steven.

I'm still very baffled at people who complain about lack of Izuku's POV, and it's not because I don't understand it; hell, every leaked chapter I keep thinking if we'll soon get an insight on his mind (admittedly, my patience has dwindled because of the previous fandom so that's 100% a flaw on my part rather than the story's pacing. In my opinion), but.
When you really think about it, our little freckled unreliable narrator here never actually gets introspective on anything personal- we get the "I gotta be stronger so others won't worry" "I need to save that kid who was crying" "I have to catch up so I'll be the best version of a hero I can be", but uh all that aside. Literally most times he's actually introspective is either to help someone with their own feelings or when he's thinking about. Well.
Point is I still haven't forgotten that door with a bunch of lockers in the vestige world. Or the entire "control your heart" narrative- which is one of the reasons I'm an advocate for "Final battle in the vestige world".
Because I wanna see that door being opened with all those raw emotions hitting him like the true tsunami he holds in.
For comparison, Izuku is like an outsider's POV of Steven Universe in SU:F; we can tell he's bottling it up, but "what" exactly and "how much" is the suspense, rather than the "when" he'll be forced to face it all, even if we already know some of the things he's keeping it in.
Because while both are a matter of time, Izuku has the added bonus of keeping it too close to his chest. He's stopped being a POV character long ago. Which now that I realize, could count as a subversion of the "everyday relatable MC"; because usually in most comic books, we know what makes a human a hero; but in BNHA; we're questioned: what makes a hero human? It's one of the reasons, I'd argue, Izuku's been getting flack as a protagonist: we're seeing a hero who needs to rediscover his own humanity, his individuality.
It's because he has put his own expectations of himself on such a high pedestal post-PLF, he only thinks now of what he can and should do, but we, as the audience, have known him as someone growing to be a hero while he accidentally forgets and confuses his origin. We're still seeing "the Deku who always does his best", but learned that's detrimental without the heart of Midoriya Izuku.
Personally, however, I'm patient. It's been a little fun because in a way, everyone else is getting an exercise on being the main character, and it feels like Izuku became a side one. That's actually not a bad thing: as he rediscovers what makes Deku and Izuku important to his identity, he regains agency to the story and we as the audience will slowly get back on his mind. BNHA's themes of identity are still prevalent; we just need to open that door beforehand. How or when, it's up to Horikoshi-san, but soon enough. I'm putting trust it'll pay off, the story has yet to make me regret it, bumps in the road and all.
TL;DR: I think Izuku's lack of internal thoughts since the PLF Arc is an intentional choice it'll pay off, and it's related to OFA's door; as it would make sense to the themes of identity and self discovery BNHA has, just involving the audience's reaction in a way. Especially because Izuku's a character who thinks he's worth what he can do rather than who he is. That said, the absence of these thoughts has precedents because Izuku is an unreliable narrator who doesn't really do introspections unless it's to other's benefit, hero-related or relative to his relationship with Katsuki.
TL;DR to the TL;DR: We'll get Izuku's thoughts eventually you guys are just mean /j/j/j/j

nobody asked but steven universe future is soooo important to me
it baffles me that people say it's "unrealistic" or it's painting people with ptsd as "monsters" or any of that stuff. it's so so so so relateable. and it's so validating and wonderful to see steven, a character i see so much of myself in, have extremely similar trauma responses to myself.
and he's not treated as an irredeemably bad person. he made mistakes. he lashed out as the trauma finally caught up to him. he even hurt people when he's supposed to do The Opposite. but he's still loved. still wanted by the people around him. still just a guy who wants to do the right thing despite everything.
hm. there are a lot of things i could say on this, though it's a bit personal to share publicly. but Know su:f is so important to me. and i will never never understand most of the criticism for it. ptsd is Not Pretty. sometimes you do in fact get angry and hell as don't know how to contain that anger. his response to it made me feel so seen and really what more can you ask for. you never see characters like that who are supposed to be "good" people fuck up and go through it the way he did, then the turn around of being convinced they're a monster for not being "good" anymore. it added so much more dimension to his character. he feels so human.
and like. i won't say a lot. but i've had nightmares about being corrupted by demons before. not in a religious way just in a way where i was so convinced i was a monster. a terrible irredeemable unloveable person who shouldn't be around others to avoid hurting them. so seeing steven go through that same shit? a character who i very much relate to? Yeah. makes me emotional as hell.
we have very much in common, actually... anyway i will always be a su:f defender 100%.

So I finally made myself sit down and watch Steven Universe: Future after years of procrastinating after seeing the movie and hearing bad reviews
Man I'm fucking bawling. I'm weeping on my phone while my parents give me weird looks. I've always thought of the su:f haters as overdramatic but holy SHIT, I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY THEYD CRUCIFY REBECCA SUGAR FOR A SLIGHTLY RUSHED SEASON, THAT SHIT WAS SPECTACULAR? Sure it could've been better if cartoon network wasn't a jackass but oh my god it felt just as good and heart-wrenching as the movie. I love it I love it I love it fuck y'all su haters get a healthy hobby that doesn't involve hate, I'm gonna scroll thru even more fanart for the next several hours goodNIGHT

FLEETWAY HEADCANONS !
so first of all, this is a concept i’ve wanted to play with forever and never fully went for it, so this is me going ‘fuck it i’m doing it’. this is what i feel what a fleetway super form would look like for hero - since the concept isn’t canon to the games - and my sonic is game verse, this is how i will adapt it.
likening back to my super sonic headcanon post, sonic’s super state is built up off of positive chaos energy. similarly, i have a bad timeline sonic who’s super state is built up off of negative chaos energy. based on the hcs i’ve established for them both, it’s POSSIBLE for hero to go dark, but that would be under different circumstances (and i wanna distinguish him from cynic) HENCE, fleetway.
it’s no secret that sonic has been through A LOT of shit, and has INSANE expectations put upon him that, while he continues to exceed because he can, are also placed upon him because he’s constantly in a position where HE HAS TO EXCEED. the world depends on him to save it and stop eggman, and it’s been going on for years. the sonic i’ve written has always had problems with masking his feelings to the point that he convinces himself nothing is wrong. but the truth is, he’s severely traumatized and has a massive savior complex!
this problem with masking is what creates fleetway. i’ve always said that if hero were to finally crack and hit rock bottom, it would be on the same level as corrupted steven in SU:F.
so how does it happen? what events would lead to him turning fleetway? i don’t have anything specific in mind, but i do think it WOULD be after forces. the events of sonic forces has always had a massive damper on my sonic and his mental state - like to an extreme enough level that i don’t always LIKE acknowledging forces for the very fact that it effected my muse in such a severe way he has changed. like actual behavioral issues that are not LIKE sonic at all. it severely fucked him up! he LOST. he was taken prisoner like some kind of trophy and the world almost completely fell to the eggman empire! and while i don’t necessarily address it, because i know the ‘he was tortured for months’ line was a translation error, it’s still not hard to imagine the mental strain being cooped up in prison on the death egg all that time, knowing your friends were fighting for their lives out there and being POWERLESS to do anything about it - feeling like a MASSIVE failure to them and to the world, AND to yourself.
the long standing battle between his nature to mask and be like ‘everything is fine i’m untouchable’ vs the PAIN and trauma he’s endured & repressed would cause a cognitive dissonance within his mind - a literal SPLIT in his personality, so the next time he has to go super, it’s all wrong.
fleetway hero is toxic positivity incarnate. a manifestation of what happens when someone who keeps trying to pretend like everything is fine despite having an absolute constant mental breakdown spiral. and when you feel like everything is out of your control, you do anything to find that control again. that control for hero, is fleetway.
he forces the emeralds to stay bonded to him. there is no ‘form dissipation’ in this situation - because the logic in his unstable mind would basically be ‘i’ve only ever made things better when i’ve had the emeralds’ - he’s come to depend on them nearly EVERY TIME there’s been a world ending level threat. but his unstable mind cannot HANDLE the unrelenting, pure chaos power of the emeralds, which is what creates fleetway to manifest. to stay on theme with the concept, fleetway is pretty much an alterego to super sonic. it’s still HIM, but everything about it is wrong. he’s far more aggressive, far more chaotic, and down right sadistic with how far he’s willing to go to to ‘fix things’. he is also PLAGUED by rage and vitriol that he is still trying to mask - but it just winds up being a fuck ton of passive aggression. towards eggman and towards the world, because they are both the main sources of his pain and he just wants it to go away.
so what does that mean for everyone else? basically. new final boss unlocked djfksdfl. this i imagine would be triggered by more eggman bullshit, of course, and he’d come close to actually making an attempt on eggman’s life, but then something stops him. so instead, he takes the man prisoner. and when i say prisoner, i mean using the chaos emeralds power to straight up rip a hole in time and space and toss eggman into a pocket dimension --- similar to the space time rift at the end of 06. he would keep eggman there as a sort of ‘payback’ for the shit in forces, and visit whenever he feels like it. they won’t be pleasant visits, either. considering what happened in unleashed and in forces... yeah. he would take delight in having something to set his wrath upon.
as far as the rest of the world goes, its hard to say. on one hand, he has bubbling resentment for having to SAVE it all the time, but at the same time, he still loves the world and his friends, because he’s still sonic. i think fleetway would develop this mentality of entitlement, in a way. 'this is MY world, i’m the one always saving it, i deserve this’ sorta thing. but also, god forbid anyone stands in his way. he can’t really be reasoned with, because of the instability of the emeralds. he would need to be stopped by an equally powerful force, because he can’t release the super state on command like super sonic can.
fleetway by himself would be an absolute riot. he’d ACT like sonic still, but cranking that unhinged behavior up to an eleven, doing whatever he wants, and probably bragging about how he finally ‘stopped’ eggman, so the public can shut up about it now. and uh, since he’s sonic’s pain and repressed emotions taking form, he won’t be pleasant to be around. he will be very blunt, but in a self depreciating kind of way that almost feels like he’s guilt tripping you sdsajds. would he physically hurt anyone? it depends. i don’t think he’d attack his friends, but he would put up a fight if they tried to stop him. as far as other wordly threats besides eggman.... yeaaaah, it has a strong chance of getting real ugly.

After like five yrs I finally watched SU:Future and the last episode of Steven Universe myself— turns out I actually stopped right before the last episode, which is weird cuz I thought I had missed a whole season, but yh.
But anyways I wasn't blessed enough to not see all the socmed posts abt it— in fact I watched it cuz of the sort of SU renaissance last month —but why did everyone make it out that the memes making fun of the ending were wrong? The plot was exactly as what was claimed. Now I'm getting flashbacks to the LandlordCap diskhorse, cuz it feels like ppl are claiming that detractor's reading of the text is wrong when said reading is flatly correct & the actual unspoken objections are whether the text is enjoyable as an audience member or not
Like with the amount of posts being like "Steven actually HATES the diamonds and fantasizes and even attempts to murder White!" I thought that the sunshine boy protagonist somehow underwent a drastic change, but no he's still sunshine boy— and to be clear, He should still be sunshine boy, that's not a problem at all! —but when I watched the actual arc, the context got totally erased by ppl who think they were "defending" the show but we're actually mischaracterizing it severely. Steven's anger get framed as a mixture of trauma and superpowered pubescent identity crisis that— in the most literal sense —turns him into a raging monster and gets heals through the power of his family's love, which includes the Diamonds hugging him until they all cry and go back to normal. But the way ppl acted, I though Steven was gonna get revenge— for himself or others —but no it's framed as a horrific impulse that was a sign of his descent into madness that he needed help with.
Idk why there were sm many posts misrepresenting the arc when there could be posts wondering why tf the series puts sm onus into Rose/Pink— and that's not to say she didn't do things ppl should be mad at her for, but if we're gonna play relativity games.. then why did the other Diamonds get a series of quirky fun cutesy hobbies while the mere mention of Rose puts the characters on their toes? —And also why did SU: Future completely flatten every non-Steven character? In the main series the "side" characters often had the most personality and growth, but in SU:F they're so flat and dull and effectively lampshaded for Steven crying hour redux. I can see why SU:F wasn't really a hit.
Amd also with the surviving CG's (especially Bismuth) making such a big desk about their friends and comrades lost in the war, you'd think uncorrupting the Crystal Gems would introduce a wide and expansive cast for SU:Future, but they have no character either and the surviving CGs act like they're just acquaintences at best. Seems like a waste of a Future spinoff, and that's saying smth bc the mainline show— in light of getting cut 40 episodes short —wasted a whole episode of their limited schedule just for Watermelon Steven making a phone call from prison.
And— now I'm just thinking about other potential content —you know what else could make for like a flashback or something, smth abt Who made the Diamonds. Or at least White Diamond cuz maybe she made Blue and Yellow. I always headcanon'ed that an advanced organic civilization invention the gem lifeform and created White, but either their civ died out or she killed them or White's creation drained their entire planet's resources and accidentally self-destructed them, and then White perhaps created the others by draining entire other planets for one gem. Whatever the case, I'm sure it's canon that Pink was a later creation cuz she was entirely unfamiliar with organic life, but it would've been cool to see confirmation about White's origins and who made her.
who is this. why are you sending me a whole novel

SU:F was the final straw that made me go "thats it. im rewriting steven fucking universe". not only for this reason but then it SUDDENLY JUST ENDS with steven going "cya lol" aaaaAAAAJFHHBBG anger
I love Steven Universe Future for its dark topics and the examination of the aftermath of a traumatic "child hero" childhood. I also love seeing all the characters, both gem and human,"grow up" and become someone new after the events of the main series.
I hate SUF for the fact that in the few instances and episodes where PD/Rose was mentioned, her name was dragged through the mud in favor of a "she's the ultimate villain" narrative. This series was the last occasion to talk about her and give her a little bit of forgiveness, in grace of all the good she ultimately did for the gems and Earth, and lay her character peacefully to rest. Instead, she's treated as a " wicked lying witch" by her own son, and the last we hear of her actions she becomes an abuser to the fandom ( if Spinel wasnt enough already). She's murdered again and again and again, and even if the creators didnt intend for it to be this way, the way they handled the situation and the topic seems as if they want you to hate her. People tend to forget that Pink Pearl damaging happened at the very start of her character arc, and it was clearly an accident. How does her character end in the show? Buried in Lions mane, forgotten and her memory repressed. Wasn't Steven supposed to be understanding and forgiving? I didnt expect a grand show and for everybody to LOVE her, but not such a blatant character assassination. I just wish there would've been more closure at the end, this just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

I spent all of yesterday in bed, alone with my thoughts. I think a lot about how every bit of my childhood was repressed and didn't hit me until my senior year of high school. I'm 24 now, and dealing with emotions I should have had back then. I channeled all that into pure empathy and I warped my entire being around being there for others/my friends. People who weren't there for me. When I detached from them, I didn't know how to be there for MYSELF. And even now, I'm still learning. Watching Steven Universe: Future these past few weeks has really been so fucking uncomfortable for me. But I loved every second of it. Every single moment. This show was so impactful to so many. Thank you so much, Crewniverse. 💖

Anyone else think it's funny as fuck that like a big portion of su and su:f is being like damn pink diamond's actions sure did affect a lot of people sure does suck for Steven that pink isn't here to take responsibility or face the people she hurt and Steven got left holding the bag.
But the other diamonds who have done just as bad or worse shit, get no confrontation, like where is the scene with a gem whose like pink pearl, like homeward bound really was a bandaid for this stuff. Wild

That was such a wonderfully open ending.
Steven's going on adventure.
And we get to tell that story now.
The torch is passed on to you know.
Isn't that beautiful?
