Academic Pressure on Children & Student Mental Health in India
The Growing Issue of Academic Pressure on Children
The teenage girl named Riya previously loved to dedicate herself to drawing and painting but had to set these interests aside. The rising academic pressure on children across India has forced her to abandon her hobby interest. The present day occupies most of Riya's time because she wishes to fulfill the dual requirements of her parents and the educational system. Her expanding academic pressure on children has triggered negative effects on her mental health, causing her to feel anxious and experience overwhelming feelings.
The account of Riya represents a widespread reality among numerous young individuals. Numerous Indian children experience academic pressure on children to a similar extent, which currently threatens their overall health and wellness.

Why Do Children Face Such High Levels of Academic Stress?
The reasons behind children's academic pressure are obvious:
Expectations from parents: Parents frequently put a lot of pressure on their kids to perform well academically 💯.
Competitive Exam Stress: Children worry about their future and getting top scores when important tests like JEE, NEET, and board examinations approach 🏆.
Lack of Free Time: There isn't much time for leisure or extracurricular activities because of the emphasis on homework and tuition 🧘‍♀️.
Fear of Failure: Students frequently believe that their academic success determines their value, which adds to their stress 💔.
Education System: Learning feels like a heavy weight because memorisation is prioritised over creativity 📖. The Impact of Academic Stress on the Mental Health of Children
Children who experience academic pressure suffer from more than just inferior grades:
Anxiety & Depression: Constant stress can contribute to mental health problems like anxiety and depression 🧠. Mental health issues like sadness and anxiety can be exacerbated by ongoing stress 🧠.
Burnout: Students who study for extended periods of time without enough breaks get mentally and physically exhausted 💤
Reduced Confidence: When kids don't live up to expectations, they frequently suffer with their self-esteem 💔.
Disinterest in Learning: Children lose interest in learning and creativity when they are only focused on tests and grades 🌱.
How Can Schools and Parents Help?
To address academic pressure on children, parents and schools must take proactive steps:
Promote Understanding Over Memorisation: Promote a more profound comprehension of topics instead of placing a strong emphasis on memorisation 📘.
Encourage counselling and Awarenes: normalise conversations about mental health to raise awareness of mental health issues.
Encourage Hobbies and Downtime: To keep a balanced existence, let kids play and pursue hobbies 🎶.
Set realistic expectations: Understand and appreciate each child's unique strengths 💪.
Teach Effective Time Management: Help children balance study time with relaxation 🕒.
Conclusion
Minimising academic pressure on children is essential to ensuring their happiness, health, and self-assurance as they grow up 😊. To establish a stress-free learning environment, parents, teachers, and the educational system must collaborate 🌟.

Unveiling the Layers of Student Suicides: Examining Beyond Examination Phobia
In recent times, the unsettling surge in student suicides has triggered widespread concern and calls for urgent intervention. From secondary school pupils to university attendees, the relentless academic pressures and the fear of failure have led many to attribute these tragedies solely to examination phobia. However, a closer examination uncovers a more nuanced narrative.
"Bye Bye Examination Phobia" authored by Meera Mandakini, a motivational guidebook aimed at aiding students in combatting examination fever, anxiety, and nervousness, offers profound insights into the intricate web of factors contributing to student suicides.
While examination phobia undoubtedly amplifies stress levels among students, it represents just a fraction of the larger picture. Mandakini underscores that the roots of student suicides often stretch beyond individual fears, intertwining with societal pressures, unrealistic academic expectations, and inadequate support systems.
In today's fiercely competitive landscape, students face incessant societal messaging linking academic achievement to personal worth. The relentless pursuit of top grades and coveted university placements has fostered a culture of perfectionism, where anything short of flawlessness is deemed unacceptable. Mandakini cautions that this pervasive mindset not only fuels anxiety and self-doubt but also erodes students' mental well-being.
Moreover, the absence of effective coping mechanisms and supportive networks exacerbates the crisis. Mandakini stresses the imperative of fostering open lines of communication among students, parents, educators, and mental health professionals to cultivate safe spaces for dialogue and seek assistance when needed. Additionally, she advocates for equipping students with resilience-building tools and promoting self-care practices to navigate adversity.
In light of these revelations, it becomes evident that addressing student suicides necessitates a holistic approach transcending mere examination phobia. Mandakini's book emerges as a valuable resource, offering actionable strategies for stress management, cultivating a positive mindset, and fortifying resilience in challenging times.
Ultimately, while examination phobia may contribute to student suicides, it serves as just one facet of a larger, multifaceted issue. By addressing systemic pressures, fostering mental health awareness, and nurturing supportive environments, we can strive towards a future where every student feels empowered to thrive academically and emotionally.
In conclusion, let us heed the insights of "Bye Bye Examination Phobia" and collectively endeavor to reshape our educational landscape, where student suicides are not merely preventable tragedies but relics of a bygone era.

Addressing Mental Health A Necessary Shift in School Education
youtube
Mental health is as crucial as physical health, yet it often gets neglected, especially in the school environment. It's time we prioritize mental health in our education system to cultivate healthy minds for our future generations.
Understanding Mental Health:
Mental health isn't just about the absence of mental disorders. It involves our emotions, thoughts, and the ability to manage stress and face life's challenges. As children spend most of their time in schools, these institutions must play a significant role in nurturing mental wellbeing.
The Current Education Scenario:
Traditionally, school education has been mainly about academics. The focus is primarily on achieving good grades, often sidelining students' mental health. Unfortunately, this overlooks the fact that mental health can directly impact a student's academic performance.
The Impact of Ignoring Mental Health:
When schools neglect mental health, they fail to address the challenges that children may face. These could include anxiety, depression, and even suicidal tendencies. The current scenario necessitates a change. Mental health must be part of our school curriculum.
Incorporating Mental Health in Education:
Incorporating mental health into the school curriculum can start with teaching students about emotions, empathy, stress management, and healthy relationships. Schools should also provide resources like counselors and support groups. The goal is to create an environment where students feel safe discussing their feelings.
Training the Teachers:
Teachers spend significant time with students and are therefore pivotal in this shift. They should be trained to identify signs of mental health issues and know how to appropriately respond. Training would also help them manage their own mental health, reducing burnout and fostering a positive classroom environment.
Involving Parents:
Parents also play a vital role in addressing children's mental health. Schools can organize workshops and seminars to educate parents about mental health, emphasizing the importance of open communication with their children.
Addressing mental health is a necessary shift in school education. By prioritizing mental health, we can help students navigate life more effectively. This shift will require commitment and collaboration from educators, parents, and students. Together, we can create an education system that caters to the holistic development of our children. For additional information, you can visit Global Education and gain a vast insights.

Many people may think that a mental illness is easy to spot. If somebody is anxious, they’re probably on edge all the time. If somebody is depressed, they’re always sad or crying. If somebody is suicidal, they’re constantly looking for a way out.
This is not true!
Many people with a mental illness do not outwardly express their feelings all the time. They can look confident, make jokes, spend time with friends and family, and more.
