A short furred gray tom with yellow eyes and small, folded ears. Smallear has a long line ThunderClan blood that’s intermingled with some loner blood in a very interesting way. Though he is large as an adult, he was born very small and when his ears never stood up, his mother became very worried about him and his survival. He grew very slowly at first but once he padded this third moon, he grew rapidly. His mother declined the offer of renaming him and so Smallpaw was amusingly the second-largest apprentice in the den. His ears never stood up, remaining folded in a way that some cats describe as cute albeit he has to clean them more often. His body is very round - even when he’s starved, there’s a softness to his features that speaks of his outsider heritage.

Smallrar is one of the most impatient cats to ever be found. He short-tempered and always on the move, it’s a common joke that he’s incapable of catching anything but squirrels since everything else requires the elusive ‘patience’ that he’s never been in possession of. The Smallear sat vigil three nights in a row because he was incapable of keeping his mouth shut the first two nights to snap at someone. He’s still a bit butthurt about the whole thing but it has made him turn a blind eye to any whispering new warriors.

Thunderclan elders! What do you think of fireheart and cloudkit?

"He's a smartarse Fireheart," Smallear grumbles.

Dappletail rolls her eyes, "Everyone's a smartarse when they're smarter than you. Cloudkit is a bundle of energy but his heart's in the right place. Bluestar's right about Fireheart though - there's just something special about that tom."

Patchpelt sighed deeply, "Please don't flirt with him anymore. He'll stop visiting entirely at this rate."

"I think it's funny," Dappletail cackles.

"I think Fireheart has a good head on his shoulders," Patchpelt says, electing to ignore Dappletail. "If he learned to hold his tongue, he wouldn't get in trouble quite so much."

"If he held his tongue, maybe Cloudkit would learn too," Halftail snickers.

"They're both very nice," One-Eye purrs. "I especially appreciate that Fireheart and Cloudkit actually listen to our stories."

"Hear hear," Smallear mutters begrudgingly.

"She's already clawed them a few times," Minkbelly said with satisfaction.

Smallear bares his teeth, "I was attacked for saying the truth. Completely unacceptable for an honored leader."

"You were clawed for running your mouth about her apprentice," Minkbelly corrects. "It's your own fault for forgetting what a well nurtured mentor and apprentice bond looks like."

Smallear scowls and turns away.

Smallear is a short furred gray tom with folded ears and yellow eyes. He’s always been short-tempered and ill-suited for tasks that require a lot of patience. It was often joked that the only prey he could catch were rabbits and squirrels due to the amount of running that was involved in chasing them. 

As an elder, he’s every apprentices’ least favorite cat to visit, as he spends most of the time complaining that they’re loud or snapping that their joints ache. Many of them thank the Souls and count their blessing as stars in the sky that Smallear was never interested in becoming a lecturer. Mentors have been known to quietly dismiss their apprentices’ punishments if they know it was Smallear launching complaints against them. Even among his fellow elders, Smallear isn’t a very popular cat. It’s suspected that Smallear’s lack of patience for apprentices stems from the death of his first only apprentice Sweetpaw and so many of the older cats cut him some slack on his behavior.

 Smallear is honest to the point of rudeness and has very few friends because of it. He’s extremely traditionalist for a ThunderClan cat and is known to speak his mind when he believes there to be a curse on ThunderClan.

The elder's den feels pretty empty nowadays and Smallears finds himself looking for Halftail and Patchpelt every day, going to make a complaint and waits for them to argue back at him. The den has been painfully quiet and it hurts him to look at Lynxcackle and Swifttalon because they remind him so much of Patchpelt. He misses Halftail's cranky attitude rushing the apprentices through their tasks. He's gotten quieter than ever - even in his complaints - and some cats believe it's only a matter of time before he passes from heart break.
