Matt was feeling the best he had ever felt in a long time. He was a bar, like most nights this week, singing along to karaoke with strangers and getting drunk. He made excuses, told people this was what he needed. But that was the thing; Matt needed, at least for one night, to not feel like himself. 

As he stumbled out, shouting out goodbyes as he began to walk home, Matt paused on his feet. Where exactly was home? He knew where he lived, but that wasn’t quite home. If home was where the heart lived, then Matt didn’t really have a home. His steps were heavy, stopping every three steps to regain his balance and then continue again. 

Matt was sure he didn’t have that much to drink, but like...it made him dizzy, and filled him with some kind of joy in his heart. For a moment, he could blissfully forget that he was even himself. The figure he bumped into didn’t know his name either! “What’s up, little lady? It’s dangerous to be out here at this hour of the night!”
