I don’t like the comparisons between Tales and Quackity’s latest stream.
I feel like, every single storyteller on the SMP has a unique method of storytelling. The most common we see, because it is most-easily compatible with livestreaming, is a mixture of improv, very loose scripting, and transitioning between being semi in-character and fully in-character. This is the kinda storytelling we get from most of the Eggpire, the Syndicate - that which was first started by Wilbur, at least on the Dream SMP. There’s also the kinda monologuing and intensely angsty experience we get from a couple streamers, most often from Ranboo. Tommy adopts this method sometimes, too, and Jack has done this kind of RP style since early December. Tommy, however, has sketched out a new kind of storytelling for himself, marked by relatively shorter RP bits, where time is traded for quality and planning.
Now, let’s talk Karl. Karl, from the beginning, with that first Tales stream when he challenged them to create a nation in an hour flat, has always told his stories through loose planning, a focus on builds and atmosphere, and frequent banter and fourth wall breaks. Every Tales episode, I see people complaining about the CCs involved not taking the plot seriously, when that is literally just the nature of any Tales episode. The Tales episodes are not meant to have a huge impact, individually, and they are not meant to be fully-scripted or artful. The focus is always on building and tying each episode to a greater storyline - that of time travel and the In Between. Karl doesn’t seem to be the best at the traditional, fully in-character style of RP we’ve grown used to seeing other CCs employ. So, he works to his strengths, and in my opinion, balances a Dora the Explorer-style knowledge of the plot and the audience with short, impactful storylines. It’s funny, it’s entertaining, and it doesn’t make Tales any less fun to watch than angstier, more immersive storytelling. On the contrary, I think having at least one storyline that is told in a somewhat light, comedic manner, is beneficial for SMP fans who can get emotionally exhausted from keeping up with the heavy topics of normal lore. For example, while the greater SMP tackles death so heavily, deaths in Tales can still be laughed off, while understanding that they still have canon implications. Sometimes, it just nice to not have to genuinely mourn a character and think about all the emotional trauma surrounding their death; sometimes, it’s just nice to make memes about a character’s death and make only lightly-angsty headcanons and fanart about those deaths.
Quackity is, no doubt, revolutionizing RP storytelling within the SMP. He’s using factors we’ve seen in a few others’ styles of storytelling - a stricter outline/script like Tommy, improvised dialogue like most CCs, and cinematic, prerecorded sections like Ponk and Karl - but he’s also exemplifying just how much talent and effort he can put into the SMP and his character’s position in the story. I’m fuckign exciting, and I can say without a doubt that his lore streams will likely bump their way to the top for me, in regards to my own personal preferences.
But still, I fucking hate the comparisons between his and Karl’s streams. Karl’s streams aren’t trying to be like what Quackity created today. Karl’s streams work best with what Karl wants to put effort into, with what Karl is best at doing. Quackity has always had the potential for amazing RP, and he’s clearly a really dedicated guy and probably a good writer, considering the whole career in law schtick. It makes sense that he’d focus on organizing all these CCs together, on making a stricter script rather than a loose take on lore streams, on tackling morality and character-building. It speaks to what cc!Quackity is best at and most interested in. In the same damn way, it makes sense that cc!Karl would focus on including as large and diverse a cast as possible, given that he is known for jumping between content creator groups and befriending people all across the Internet. It makes sense that he would focus on builds, when he is literally one of the only CCs on the SMP to care about aesthetics, and when you consider that his first Tales episode was literally about building a nation within a time frame. It makes sense that he would focus on entertainment, rather than seriousness or immersiveness, given that he isn’t great at RP without breaking the fourth wall and that he’s still pretty new to streaming.
I just think that, objectively, the two styles of storytelling aren’t comparable.
#this is the first of my many many posts im gonna make about this stream lol#quackity#karl#tales from the smp#tftsmp#dream smp#.txt#long post#bangers

Bad, Good, Grey entertainment
Okay so there’s been a lot of pedo talk about various forms of entertainment and I want to set the record straight on what we are dealing with here.
Toddler’s and Tiaras/Dance Moms/Little Miss Sunshine/ and Honey Boo Boo probably:
No one with empathy for children or just humanity in general liked those shows. Those shows were popular and went on for several seasons because the production costs were low and the reality television audience is very passive, very addicted to drama, and love watching freak shows.
You can’t find a audience more entertained by human suffering than the people that love watching reality shows.
The success of those shows is not an indictment of America, especially Little Miss Sunshine which is a movie that no one has seen. If you defend Cuties by saying that Little Miss Sunshine had something like that in the third act I have to respond with “No one who isn’t a hipster douchebag or a film reviewer has seen the ending to that film”
Normal people don’t watch shit like that. Do you even remember the trailers? I do! I saw a review for it either and it looked like the cure for insomnia.
The average person thinks Honey Boo Boo was the worst, they think dance moms is for sociopaths who like seeing little girls cry, and they think Toddler’s and Tiara’s are for pedophiles.
Big Mouth:
Big Mouth is a coming of age show for adults and it seems mostly like a thinly veiled excuse to watch westernized lolita and shota soft core porn, it might be that but the big problem with calling Big Mouth fans pedos is that big Mouth is basically like every other raunchy adult comedy, including the sacred cow South Park.
There’s not a lot of stuff that Big Mouth has done that South Park hasn’t also done and in standard American fashion the art style is more repulsive than endearing and good hentai lives and dies on how well the human body is drawn.
You have to have a strong understanding of the human anatomy just so you can bend those rules for unrealistic proportions and still have people invested in the quality of your work. It’s real fucking work drawing good looking pornography.
Big Mouth isn’t drawn like a show that loves the human body. It’s drawn like a show that kind of sees the body as something gross and it’s half played off for laughs while the other half is reassurance that you’re relatively normal.
If you were going to make a show about a subject matter like this, you probably can’t do worse than Big Mouth and you probably can’t do any better either.
Cuties:
Cuties exist supposedly as a way to spark a conversation about how we sexualize young girls. It’s from France so it’s probably more relevant there than it is here but not many people are making that argument. I would make that argument though. After all, France is where the infamous novel “Lolita” was originally published (although to be fair it was written by a Russian).
French culture is extremely sex positive and the plot is about a Somalian girl acclimating to a dance group that would only exist in the western world and would have the most acceptance in France.
The mass immigration of people from the Middle East created a culture clash in France and other places where people who abandoned religion have to butt heads with people for whom religion is basically everything.
Sexuality is condemned in fundamentalist Islamic culture, especially the sexuality of women. I could go on for awhile talking about my theories why and how it speaks to a series of social, emotional, and mental disorders hidden within the members of the Islamic faith but that’s a conversation for a different subject.
America has problems with sex and sexuality but lets face it, if the Somalian girl was Christian instead of Muslim and set in America there wouldn’t be a film or alternatively there would be a film but it would just be Mean Girls.
Most stories about sexuality and coming of age is usually about riding that line between being liberated but not so far out that you fall in with bad people who want to exploit your sexuality for profit, physically abuse you for pleasure, or give you a disease that will forever lower your quality of life if not be the lead cause of your own death.
Many stories of sex are about the regret of even having it or having had it with the wrong people or refusing to have it with the right one until it was too late.
The real question is “Is Cuties truly a satire of french culture?”
It can’t be satire of American culture because the abuse of children is met with public derision and disgust when it’s brought to their attention. America is still very religious and the inherently conservative nature of islamic culture can fit within America with only modifications to how it views the concept of punishment for breaking religious rules.
In order for Cuties to be a commentary on how America sees the sexuality of girls it would have to be pro pedophilia because the antagonist that’s being criticized would be the religious faith and not the hedonism of the Cuties.
This can however be an critique on how France’s sexual openess is just an excuse for debauchery and sexual exploitation.
Only the French can say for sure or not, I can’t say if that’s a fair critique, my investigations has led to people affirming that French people are “More honest about romance and sex” which is distressingly vague given the subject matter but I don’t know where the french draw the line so I’ll leave it at that.
In any case the production of the film regardless of intent is child abuse. Either they exploited the pre-existing sexuality of young girls or they sexualized young girls specifically for the film. Effectively grooming them to be sex pots for the purposes of authenticity. They had hundreds of kids tryout for this as well.
How many of those children have been raped before or during the production of the film? Even when a child is being hired for a G rated kid’s film or show there’s still a high chance that someone on set, in the studio, or in Hollywood has sexually touched the kids, sometimes with the consent of the parents (I mean the parents get all the money, if you were a selfish prick willing to make your child famous so you could get rich, would you care if Dan Schneider touched your daughter?)
It’s massively irresponsible at best and at worst, part of the film’s message relied on throwing actual little girl’s into the lion’s den to make a point about how immoral and corrupt french people are.
It got an award at Sundance. The co-founder of Sundance is a confirmed pedophile. If the intent of the film is to oust french people and non religious people as nonces and nonce enablers well mission accomplished I guess!
I’ve never seen a film throw everyone that liked it under the bus.
Well. Does Freddy Got Fingered count? I digress.
That’s the conversation one is supposed to have about Cuties. I get really fucking annoyed when people say “we need to have a conversation about this.” or “it’s a conversation starter.” but they don’t really initiate a conversation and they use that phrase to end the conversation they are currently in so it’s a lot of bullshit.
We’re done talking about Cuties but we’re not done here yet.
Hololive:
Some person named Brittany made some video where she took shots at Shark hololive girl. Said the person was Lolibait and that she had an audience of 40 year old men.
Where does one begin?
Apparently this person has done this before. I keep thinking of Jessica Valenti which is another person so clearly what this person did or does has been lost to me. I can only assume it involved gamergate or Donald Trump because all roads lead to those two subjects for some bizarre reason.
But that’s the past. Right now is what matters and right now you can’t just make a video saying that someone makes content exclusively for pedophiles which is what she did. That was some Keemstar level shit right there and I’m under the impression no one will make her regret that choice. Everybody always talks about actions having consequences but it appears like only certain people suffer from the consequences.
But we’ll see.
She talked about Hololive like it was another Project Melody. Unfortunately for her it’s not, It’s a real business and a real business is designed to deal with defamation in a serious way so things could get ugly if Yagoo actually thinks his ladies are being threatened by drama mongers.
These vtubers are doing really well. Pokimane deciding to become a vtuber that is just her normal self but animated is boomer level imitation and extremely funny.
The appeal isn’t that they’re animated by the way, the appeal is that they’re fun people doing streams. The animation works by letting the audience create a para social relationship with a fictional character of sorts so that the actress can have a private life while still maintaining a streaming setup that’s very personable for the audience.
This is a meaningful evolution of an online persona.
The only real downside is that anyone who wanted to have an animated avatar in general will be defined as a vtuber when that may not be the intention of the streamer.
I’m just waiting for one of these girls to be part of an ARG.
Okay so to wrap up:
Reality shows are trash and always have been.
Indie Films are also trash and only pretentious douche bags like them.
What happens in France should stay in France.
and Hololive is GOAT but tragedy of the commons is still a thing.

this was supposed to end up a youtube rant video that i wrote the script out for awhile ago, but i’m lazy and never remembered to record it the next day, so eh
Ayyyyyye something to talk about
Asai Fubuki here with some garbage brought to you straight from the internet, relating to my own country, Australia. So if people don't know by now, Aussie internet makes everybody think that Dial-up is the fastest shit in the business, granted it was at one point in time, but we are way past that, anyway back on track, I was scrolling through fb doing my thing of ignoring every post until something stood out, oh boy did it stand out, as you could probably guess it has to do with the internet. Now I don't know how much the rest of the world knows nor do I really know how fast the rest of the worlds internet is. But we haven't got the greatest, I mean it still lets us do all the internet things, but it doesn't really do fantastic. I don't believe I've had a lot of problems with internet apart from the fact I'd like to stream. Regardless we were and have received a thing called NBN (national broadband network) which is just an upgrade to the wiring and such allowing company's to offer what is supposed to be up to 1Gigabit per second, again not sure how that compares to the rest of the world, in true Aussie style I can't be fucked to google that. However as I said, I was scrolling fb and a post caught my eye, it was titled "Aussies don't want Super-fast internet and wouldn't use it even if it was free, says NBN CEO" This is an article from Buzzfeed, but googling "nbn CEO says we don't want fast internet" came up with a bunch of sites effectively the same thing, I usually take these sites with a grain of sand because I don't know how true the info is. Regardless, MR CEO, if you are offer free fucking NBN sign me the fuck up with that one Gigabit speed please! I'll use it. The article claims that we don't want super fast broad band and wouldn't use it, even if it were offered free. WHO THE FUCK did you even question for this, fucking soccer mum's and dissapointed fathers? Like dead set, the amount of people I see using the internet on more than a daily basis after work, school and heck most of them use it while there in those places, I'm guilty, whatever. It's just insane to think that it isn't an integral part of what is the future, is fucked, I mean I guess I use integral lightly here as I mostly like the word, but half use the meaning, Iunno, work that one out. But even so, while correct in the idea it mightn't ever be need to be at 1gb, it would always, always be nice to have quality of life upgrades, being able to quote stream four HD shows live unquote would be phenomenal as people are quite enthralled in shows, heck if my family had a say I'm sure they'd binge watch every show in the world given a chance.
If given the opportunity I'm sure a lot of people, gamers, youtubers, streamers, the people that just stream randomly to Facebook and even other sites, from their own home, to either just make people laugh or share their own story, iunno I believe I'm dribbling shit here. Regardless my message on this part is at least this CEO man is retarded, much like the Australian government. But hey they don't care, they are rich and old, woo.
Wow, did I get off topic there, my apologies if you are still watching.
So as I am seeing they have capped the speed at 100megabits per second, which doing a quick calculation and then googling to make sure it's correct, not 100% sure btw, is a 10th the speed we could and should be accessing, the CEO has gone and said something along the lines of we have given it to the retailers and it's their choice not to sell that to the consumers, which is wrong because like, it's fucked why, I'd try and argue this but as I know the prices they put on this kinda shit, I would be fighting a brick wall, made of brick and swords, like I could then argue if you gave it to us at a standard price, you know, make it the norm, I'm sure it would be 100% fine, but as I was raised, I then consider resources and such it would take for all that and as I don't work in that field I haven't a single clue what it takes. Legitimately barely floating on a large pile of straws here.
Regardless I felt it required to at least talk about it, as a person who has wanted to get into streaming and video making its been difficult, especially with home arrangements, that's slightly less so as of now, but still, it's almost 4am when I'm writing this script.
I just don't like the idea that he's all like Australia doesn't want this, we've only probably asked some people from a Capitol city and they're all probably middle aged or elderly people because we can't trust the youngin's to provide us a decent answer. It doesn't tell me the people they asked, be it age group, gender blah blah blah. It merely says this "we asked the question: has anybody actually used that amount of bandwidth? The answer was unanimously 'no'". Now that a stupid question, no one has had the fucking chance to mess around with such bandwidth, everybody is accustomed to what we already have, a metric fuckton of people I know we're all looking forward to NBN, we still will use the 1 tenth of what you said we could have, but that's because it's what we can get. Also quote he thinks Australians don't want to pay more for faster internet they're not going to use endquote, while it's fair to say that it's because not only does everything ever cost an arm and a leg already you's would probably end up charging god knows how much for it, instead of making it accessible to the people you created it for. It's bad enough that people are generally moving out with friends just to pay the bills, because there are more of them to pay, but others prices go up, I'm sure a lot of people work only a single job and still get by, or even none, but there are quite a few out there that work multiple jobs just to get by.
Bleh, so many people would literally just like the idea of having that much available to them, like I know I would, I'd love to happily stream without fear of internet problems while my partner watches all her art videos and various other stuff. It'd be great, you know I could have a bunch of friends over and we could all smash out some games of Overwatch,League and whatever other games people are playing at the time. I'm sure families would love the idea that the kids can watch their stuff which keeps them quite on a solid internet connection while the parents do whatever they do on the internet, I know my mum just browses Facebook streams to see what numpties are streaming for the night.
I'm sure I could safely say that Australia does in fact want faster internet, we have many gamers, streams and various other content creators that use the same platforms to share their work and such. It's kinda stupid to think that we as a country don't want to move forward with time, just because we might not ever use something, I mean fuck, what if a scientist needed that faster speed to I don't know research a strand of DNA 0.1 seconds faster as the thing they've been trying to find might've decayed before they got the chance, tbh that's a load of shit but it sounded very nice in theory.
In conclusion, it's something we want, I hope you's don't take our other leg for it and I mean fuck, you offer it for free, sign me the fuck up, I'll see you's in the next video whenever that is, for now though, goodbye
