this is from chapter 32 of my story when everything is going wrong :)

based on this part:

Jason doesn’t know how to even be friends now, not when he wants something so wildly different. It’s like his body decided it’s allergic to Tim’s friendship and the only cure is for Tim to snag his wrist, pull him into an empty classroom, and kiss some sense into him. Or for Tim to call him up and say, "Why aren’t we dating already? Let’s get started on that right away." Or for Tim to strip off his soft, ratty sweatpants along with whatever he wears underneath, shove Jason on his back, and fuck himself on Jason’s tongue. Or for Tim to knock on his door and wait patiently for Jason to answer. Then take both of Jason’s hands, look up into his face, and say, "I’ve been in love with you the whole time. I always wanted to be with you; I was just waiting for you to realize. Will you love me, please?" Then Jason could melt into Tim’s arms, let himself feel all his feelings—offer them to Tim and know he wants them.

k so i got this au, see, batman never has robins but he does adopt dick, jason, and cass. so jason doesn't die, he just grows up nerdy and quippy and a bit of a little shit (also i like him being kinda titchy until he has a massive growth spurt at like 18).

meanwhile kon comes into being and idk why but clark this time around is like "I'm gonna be a DAD, this is my SON now" (i do know why, it's that i can only conceptualize of father figures as 100% good or 100% bad), and his bff bruce is like "Yay our kids can be friends" :| (<-bruce smiling) "let me show you how to set up itunes family sharing" (this is in the late '00s/early '10s)

anyway jason resents this i think, bc kon is his "age" and he's being treated like the Specialest Boy. so cue the two of them having a sort of frenemies/guys forced to hang out/partners in crime vibe, where Kon's like "i'm NOT following u around like a puppy, i'm just in this janky alley for kicks" and Jay is like "if this guy's gonna follow me around like a puppy, i will lead him into Deep Shit."

(also i think this kon is more mild-mannered, he doesn't have to do as much fighting for acceptance and recognition so he's softer. like he's still flirty and mouthy and hot-tempered, but he's also p well-adjusted. jason meanwhile is less dead and less traumatized than he would otherwise be, but he's a bit more rascally and a lot more obtuse. so when kon gets a big crush on him and starts acting weird, jason's like "Huh, what's his deal? hmm must be... he's Up To Something. or maybe just a loser lol i'm gonna mess with him.")
