Nintendo Switch: DDV: The Storybook Vale...Part 1!

A reason to be grateful before thanksgiving? Whatever you want to call it, DLC day is here! As promised in the last live, The Storybook Vale is ready for you!

So everyone should find the DLC available for download in their store. Which one you get will depend on if you have the base game and DLC#1 already. I got the $49 DLC and bonus item package. Once you get it and it downloads, you would start your game.

To get started on the DLC, you would check your mail. If you have not completed a couple of the base game quests, you receive a list of what needs to be completed to start the DLC. But it starts with an invitation.

From there you would go to the docks, where you went to first travel to Eternity Isle. New places, new items, same mechanics. You will start off by freeing Merida and then talking to the story book. You discover a new tool and start off cleaning up a world torn by feud between Hades and Maleficent. The snippets are so cute!

So far I really like the new lands, great characters being added with this DLC. Nice new puzzle features. You will definitely need to figure out something for storage but that's something I am sure someone will figure out soon. I really like this better than Eternity Isle so far, and it being in 2 parts is smarter.

Part 2 comes out in Summer 2025. Who else is getting it early?

The Persephades Dreamlight Valley AU Lore

Here it is as promised! Just a minor spoiler warning to anyone who hasn’t completed the base game lol.

When Persephone was a little girl, she discovered a magical well somewhere deep in Greece and found it was actually a portal to an entirely different universe where an empty valley sat. She decided to use the valley as a blank canvas and created all kinds of plants and flowers and trees.

One day, a mysterious castle with magical doors that allowed strangers from other worlds to visit the valley appeared. Merlin was the first she met and eventually she met all the other villagers too. As she got older, Persephone made more and more friends in the valley and even started creating biomes and other parts of the valley like Storybook Vale and discovered new pre-made places in the valley like Eternity Isle.

At one point, when she was a young adult, Persephone had left the valley for a long time (because of the Titanomachy and her becoming the goddess of spring). Persephone didn’t have a ton of time to spend there anymore, but would try to visit whenever she had the chance. The events of the movie took place at some point and eventually, Hades got out of the River Styx and discovered the valley and actually befriended Persephone (despite holding her and her family prisoner during his Olympus takeover). In fact, Hades had started to develop a bit of a crush on her, but he would never admit it.

As Persephone started to spend less and less time in the valley, the Forgotten (the embodiment of the negative and bottled up emotions she had developed as she grew up that was created from the valley’s unique and powerful dreamlight magic) took over while the real Persephone stayed in her universe and had practically forgotten all her memories from the valley. Hades took advantage of Persephone’s lack of presence, so he and Maleficent stole Storybook Vale and claimed it as their own before getting in a fight over territories, causing the Neverafter to take place in Storybook Vale. Hades stayed in his claimed territory “Mythopia” (a place Persephone created that reminded her of home and the myths and legends that took place there) when the Forgetting took full effect. Hades still remembers a lot of what took place in his original realm and what happened in the valley because the Forgetting didn’t affect Storybook Vale as much as the rest of the valley, but he doesn’t remember Persephone or any of the time he had spent with her before the Forgetting.

Time passed and the modern age came around, however, time in the valley works differently, so it may have been thousands of years to Persephone, but in the valley, it was much shorter than that (idk maybe about 10 years or so?). One day, in her original realm of Greece, Persephone once again came across the same magic well that she found as a child and uncovered the secrets to find that she was once the ruler when she was young and when she grew up and became goddess of spring, the Forgetting took place, which was caused by her gloomy doppelgänger, the Forgotten.

Persephone was eventually able to stop the Forgotten from destroying the valley and now spends a lot of her time in the off seasons (anytime that isn’t spring) in the valley, meeting new friends and going on new adventures.

Persephone later rediscovered Storybook Vale and found Hades had taken over Mythopia while Maleficent took over Everafter. She was quite upset with him when she met him in the trial portal (mainly because she never forgot about the Olympus take over and still held a grudge against him for that), but decided to help him make the valley his home away from home and work with him to get him to make up with Maleficent so they can stop the Neverafter and save Storybook Vale as well the the Lore Keeper.

Persephone and Hades’ relationship was super rocky at first and the two couldn’t really stand each other. Hades preferred using Persephone as his personal “minion” and basically ignored the fact that she was actually the ruler of the valley, still claiming that Mythopia was his, but as the the two gods began to spend more time with each other, the more they started to like and respect one another. Eventually, their memories of each other slowly started coming back and Hades found himself falling in love with Persephone all over again. Meanwhile, Persephone is still completely oblivious to Hades’ crush on her and doesn’t even realize that deep down, she too feels the same way. Will the two ever admit their feelings for one another and live happily after in Dreamlight Valley?

I just finished part one of the storybook vale and I have a theory on who/what actually caused the Neverafter.....

I can't explain why, but I feel like it was the Lorekeeper. That book just feels a little sus right now.
