time princess players how do y'all picture the MCs of every story
like since every set and piece of official art has a different hair colour, length, and style with every picture of them, and sometimes there's descriptions that don't match the images, which one do you go with
and do you make half of them look like your avatar or have your own designs
#dutp#time princess#when playing/viewing it through the ''story traveler'' lens#i often justify the hair colour changes in-universe by headcanoning that it's story kingdom magic that allows you to change your hair colou#by default i make half the mcs look like (taller versions of) me/my avatar (who's designed after me but with purple eyes) to some extent#but there are exceptions#like if the mc isn't white i'm obviously not gonna base her design off myself#except Maybe giving her my/my avatar's hair length#and if a spinoff shows the mc i'll often use that design#i always pictured zoya blonde until the salvia spinoff story came out and showed her with the light brown hair from that one set#it also described zoya as having black eyes which i went with#i didn't have a locked in eye colour headcanon for her before but i didn't really picture her with eyes that dark#probably because none of the album art gave her black eyes#though eye colours tend to be inconsistent in this game#nastia's described with gray eyes but that one album art gives her blue eyes#and on the flipside charlotte's described with blue eyes in one side story but her model doesn't have blue eyes#nor does at least one album art of her#i give virtually every mc long hair just because most of the hairstyles in those sets require it#i always picture cordelia with dark hair and ocean green-blue eyes#like a vivid teal colour. just fits someone whose name means ''daughter of the sea''#and sometimes i have her stop shaving her legs when she becomes a pirate because a) she lives on a boat#and b) representation of her leaving behind that gilded-cage life of fancy etiquette and ''you must become a perfect wife and mother''#in which she did everything society demanded of her at the expense of her own happiness#like yeah after escaping that i Will make cordelia stop shaving her legs. for the symbolism. and the fact that she lives on a pirate boat.#i always give aurora that pastel-almost-white shiny gradient dyed hair#because a) it's in half the sets b) it looks so so so cool c) it looks great next to the companions i ship her with#matches with novi and gives her a light-dark duality with selene's dark purple hair#idk her natural hair colour but i also give her the creepily pale eyes from Silent Night Rebirth#to match the pastel clothes she's so often in. this is not her natural eye colour either. hey that's p clearly a common thing in this city#i strongly doubt that selene's eyes are naturally that bright blueish purple

I don't know why but today I just woke up with another wave of love and appreciation for mv!Mapleshade warrior cats. I just auughhhhh I love her even if she isn't that intentionally well-written at all I relate to her so much you wouldn't believe that kitty is special to me, at the very least the mv!Mapleshade version of her.
It's the way she's just so out of touch and detached from reality from the moment she's introduced in mv (and maybe even for the remainder of the novella) and living in this fantasy of her and her family being Untouchable and Special, putting her utmost faith in the warrior code/the law and StarClan/God, especially believing that StarClan approves and gave her kits their blessing, and has this narrative/plot-relevant "magical thinking" about everything that happens around/to her. When Frecklewish just asks if the father of her kits is Birchface(he isn't), she thinks it is a explicit sign for her that StarClan themselves is "offering her a way for her kits to be accepted by her clanmates", everything is some sort of "sign" for her. She wholeheartedly believes that nothing bad will ever happen to her very illegal children, that everyone will just accept and love them because they're just so perfect, and that by just being born they will literally change everyone's minds about inter-Clan relationships and achieve world peace -- That they will grow up both loyal to ThunderClan and RiverClan equally, that "the truth about who their father really was would be unable to shake the loyalty of their woodland clanmates, [...] and once RiverClan gets to know them, those cats will feel the same", that "the feud over sunningrocks will be forgotten when the clans realize they share these perfect warriors". And like is this a cause of concern that this is really similiar to whatever I'm going through pretty often too like you and me both Maple. Not related but I think it's also very cool how sometimes when people talk to her or ask her something she just. Doesn't respond. And I think that everybody in the fandom just making it up to be "haha look at this delusional bitch not knowing theres consequences to her actions lol" should be punted into the sun like how is this a testament of her being an irredeemably evil terrible person to you and not like something actually very sympathetic why are you like this with every female character. Beautiful miss Maple baby I will protect you. She should have killed even more people actually
And I need to ask why. Whyyyyyy did they write her to towards the end of the book start hallucinating her dead babies encouraging her to become a serial killer throughout. You literally didn't have to bring psychosis into this she already had perfectly valid reasons to start murdering people!! Why!! You didn't make her more "scary" by this or whatever, instead now it just makes me feel bad for her even more that she went to cat hell forever for the actions she did when she was not only super mega ultra traumatized and in a state of shock after The Events (which none of those was her fault btw), but also that she literally going through some kind of episode the entire time too. And like. You didn't have to bring dead baby murder hallucinations into this as I have said before she had perfectly valid and understandable reasons to start maiming people already auuughhh head in hands. I could treat her so much better than you I am taking mv!Mapleshade away from you she's mine now
(Also dare I say all the people she killed had it coming already lmao like let's see we got uhh. One Snitch. Two Really pushy lady that pressured her into saying that Birchface is the father of her kits and then once she found out that was a lie she clawed her in the face and called her 2 month old kittens "half-clan creatures". Three cheater that didn't give a fuck about their dead children whose corpses he fished out the river and then threw her under the bus and nearly got off scot free for the exact "crime" that she got severely punished for. Like listen has anything of value been lost honestly. Free my woman she did all of that your honor but also like come onnnn man who caressssss)
Im love. I love her. Me and Mapleshade get each other at a spiritual level and I have no idea what this says about me. All of you need to hear about Mapleshade too I don't care I am subjecting you to the triple homicide kitty I'm forcing you to listen. Also this is how her official plush looks. Crying throwing up what is wrong with this horrid wet beast. Horrible I am enamored with everything about it

honesrly the most annoying part is figuring out hairstyles -_- im bad at that + such a large cast is ughhhh i mean joy is pretty intuitive as a recently out trans woman whos growing out her hair - i think she keeps growing it rather than keeping it short vs the GP au where she keeps it in a bob for ease of travel
^ same sort of idea with hal < he has dreads in the GP au bc its more convenient to have a protective hairstyle considering their lifestyle. id consider the same line of thinking with lola as well but theres soooo many options...i was thinking just keeping it as like a short afro kind of thing but then shed look just like my aunt LOLLL

This got more attention than I expected so here it goes. I'll give a brief overview and then stick the rest under a page break
Basically: We have 6 main characters of note, but I'll talk about the other two later:
Dustin (AKA Dusker), who's 10yo in the novel and 17 in the game. He's a side character in the novel and MC of the game.
Kaitlyn, who's Dustin's mom. She's 30 something
Hamish, Dustin's father and Kaitlyn's husband. He's 30 something for a brief amount of time but ages to like 60 over the course of the story (for reasons we'll get to shortly). He adores his family more than anything and is a devoted father and husband. He gets depressed if he goes more than a few days without his beloved family :(
Amelia (AKA Chasm), who is Hamish's adoptive daughter and Dustin's adoptive big-little sister (time is weird okay, she was born after him but she's in her late 20s when she meets him). She's a record holding and Infamous Runner.
Premise:
Dustin, Kaitlyn and Hamish live in the City (which I need to name T-T). One day, Hamish returns from an out of town business trip to find a glowing barrier surrounding the City. No one can get in, and no one seems to be trying to get out. Many years later, People figure out a way to get past the barrier, and they discover that the City has been trapped in a 3 day timeloop for the last like. 2 decades. On the third day, the City resets to Day 1 (Think Majora's Mask, minus the terrifying moon apocalypse). Furthermore, the City inhabitants (Civilians) cannot see or be interacted with by anyone/thing from outside the city. Infiltrators can run straight through them.
After a while, they also figure out a way to smuggle items from inside the city out, where they discover that items taken out exist past the Reset, with a duplicate regenerated in its place at the advent of Day 1. Endless free resources! A system soon develops of people called Runners (or Ghosts, haven't decided which or if I like either of them) who break their way into the city and smuggle out resources using special items called Tokens. A whole outer settlement (and economy) spawns outside the City based on this. This is also when they discover odd drone like things (Like the hybrid child of Eve from Wally and a roomba, but it flies and has arms and lasers and weapons) they dub "Sentries" exist. Sentries will hunt down any anomalies to the City and try destroy them. They also discover that Dying in the City respawns them outside the city, unharmed, minus their tokenised items. Still deciding if people can only enter the city on Day 1, or at anytime. I think I had it that each person could only enter once per loop? Regardless, the longest time spent in the city is 21 hours and 14 minutes, set by Chasm (because its very hard to avoid other runners and Sentries when you're tired, and deep in the city). Everyone who stays in the City after 10pm on Day 3 mysteriously disappears, and is never seen again. No Runner stays in the City later than 9:30pm for this reason
The original title was "City of Produce" because of how people would break into the city for Produce, and because of the renewable nature of the resources, but I no longer think it fits.
Originally, this was going to be one story which followed Dustin - he was the first person from this universe who spawned during a daydream amv of "alarm" by the score, but after I'd figured out his backstory and rambled at a friend about it, he said I could turn that backstory into its own thing, since it had its own coherent story progression. So now I was stuck with two stories: one, a prequel (or book 1) following Amelia (and Hamish), and another (a sequel?) following Dustin and some friends as he tries to rescue his mom. and then @perihelion-crew-lounge said "this kind of sounds like a game" when I told her Dustin's story and I said "oh shit you're right", so now its Amelia's book and Dustin's Game. Both of which I still. need. to. title.
(I told you this was going to be long)
Amelia's story
So anyway Hamish comes back, finds the City is in lockdown, and nothing he can do will get him back in to his family. he's worried sick about them, and cannot bare to be too far in case something changes, so he settles down in the town outside the City and eventually grows to accept that no one is ever getting back in, and who knows if his family is still alive. Queue several years of depression, stress and grief.
After about I think I said a decade, he finds a young 6 year old girl who's just been abandoned on the City's outer limits, not far from the barrier, and because Hamish is a good guy with a bleeding heart and misses a family/loney AF, he decides to take Amelia in. And he raises her like the good dad he is, tries to ensure she gets a good education, does everything he can to ensure the both of them have a good life even though he had to literally start over from nothing. Amelia grows up on stories about Kaitlyn and Dustin, and she sees how much he loves and misses them, and she grows to love them too.
One day, she comes home from middle school with exciting news: They'd figured out how to get into the city, and over the course of the next few years, they discovered:
the timeloop nature of the city, and the reset parameters (including vanishing people)
the fact that sentries now exist and are violently hostile to anything from the outside
that they cannot die in the city; they just dissolve when 'killed' and reappear in the nearest available spot outside the barriers
that they cannot take anything out the city
they discover a way to take things out the city: Disposable "tokens" (sticker/label things), which will fizzle out when touching the Barrier while active, allowing the item to move through the breach
they learned, by studying the sentries, how to replicate their unusual weapons, which lead to a boom in technology
A small group of people who would later found the Guild got together and devised ways to abuse the time loop and gain resources, training Runners to go into the city to harvest resources, which they could either keep (they had to buy tokens from the guild), or sell to the guild for new money. The economy began to evolve around this system.
Note that the guild never penalised runners from stealing from each other within the city: afterall, no one was really hurt, and the resources they lost when they died would be picked up from the hostiles anyway. The issue came when people started seeking revenge outside the city; this is where people and teams started going by pseudonyms and masks to keep their identities anonymous, for safety and privacy reasons.
The guild offers/sells tools to Runners, regulating the system and maintaining some level of regulation and civilty amongst them, and streamlined/made getting into the city easier
Hamish, like many exiled residents of the City, was among the first volunteers to explore. There he learned that he could visit his family, but they could not see him, and he would grow old while they remained unchanging forever. it took him a long time to accept this
In high school, Amelia joined the guild as one of the early runners, and she got good. She's fucking smart, inventive/resourceful, and great at parkour. She became the best Runner in the guild, Chasm. She set the longest run ever: Almost a full day, and she won a motorbike for this achievement. She grew to know the city better than anyone else, even some exiled residents, and she did it all with the express purpose of learning enough to steal a person.
Upon graduating high school, she joined the tech company pioneering Runner technology: the people who figured out how to get into the City, who created Tokens, who were the leading Innovators in runner technology and weapons. she learned lots there and continued to Run on the side. Slowly, she built up teh trust and resources to create what she pitched as the first renewable Token, one which could survive the Barrier and even take out larger items, like cars and servers. The real purpose of the device is to take out people. Amelia still plans to rescue Kaitlyn and Dustin.
In the longest run she's ever done (left unrecorded by the guild because of teh fallout) (it was 34 hours and 15 seconds by the way), Amelia finds the pair just in time for Reset.
Her suspicions are confirmed: For the Two hour period between 10pm and midnight, time resumes past the time loop in the city, two countless hours where she does her bestest to convince Kaitlyn that they need to run and go, and to get out the city. Unfortunately, the Sentries are even more vicious during Reset than they are during a loop, and if you die now, you stay dead and your body will vanish upon reset (if you're an outsider and stuck in the city when the loop starts again, all anomalies cease to exist, regardless of if they were alive or not, their presence overwritten).
With ten minutes left, they make it to the barrier, but there's no escaping the Sentries. Because Hamish married a badass woman who is as brave as she is kind, Kaitlyn forces Amelia to take Dustin (who's 10 and afraid) and escape, because she will ensure her son's safety, and this young woman would have been her daughter in another life; is currently her beloved's daughter, and will die if she stays, So Kaitlyn holds off the Sentries, and Amelia escapes, and one of her prototypes is lost forever and the other one works. With major consequences. The Barrier lights up like a light show and absolutely fries everything touching it. The inside of the city is fine; it resets to normal in 10 minutes, the damage undone (and Kaitlyn respawns in her apartment, her son missing, and she doesn't know why, the last three days and two hours removed from her memory), but every guild outpost and half the satellite city is out of power for days. Thousands of tokens are fried. The barrier is volatile and ejects everything that tries to enter it for weeks. The whole economy stalls for like three weeks and Amelia is in so much trouble.
For the incredibly illegal move she pulled (upsetting the city, costing thousands of [currency] in damages, fucking up the city and taking experimental untested technology without permission (even though she built it), threatening the economy via reusable tokens and a case of (technically) kidnapping), Amelia is punished. She's fucking lucky she didn't get thrown in jail. But she's permanently banned from the city and guild, loses her job, is forbidden from working in anything related to the city again, and has to pay an insane fine and give up all technology she'd developed to her company.
She considers it all worth it though, watching the way her father (in his mid to late 60s now) tears up and hugs Dustin, the way their home feels... fuller and happier than before. She'd do it again, if she could, and she'd take Kaitlyn the next time. Except she has no avenues to attempt it.
So that's Amelia's story: it ends with her reuniting Hamish and Dustin.
I think. I will put Dustin's story in another reblog because hooboy this is long.
Gimme suggestions for the things I said above I'm unsure of, and most importantly: title suggestions please
Oh, and a last name for this family.
If I ramble (at length, believe me it would be a lot) about my most recent WIP (the city-in-a-time-loop one), would someone be willing to read it and please help me figure out a title

RIGHT WHERE YOU LEFT ME
➛ 01. IN DREAMS WE REST
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: i've been stressed about this fic probably more than any other i've ever written. not because it's logan per se, but because wade wilson makes me want to rip my hair out. i love that bastard, but writing him feels like pulling teeth. i'm in love with this concept solely for the angst, so if you see more throughout and wonder if they will ever get a happy ending, please know i'm dead inside. enjoy!
summary: stuck in another universe and unsure of where he stands, logan expects things to even out as they always did. but when you cross his path and you have no idea who he is, he's in for a rude awakening.
word count: 5.9k+
pairing: logan howlett x f!reader
warnings: not explicit, wade wilson breaking the fourth wall, angst, cussing so much cussing, alcohol consumption, grief, pain, a broken man pretending he's not broken, chance encounters, awkward conversations, hope.
NEXT CHAPTER | SERIES MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
He can hear it when he sleeps.
Their screams.
The constant ring of agony that chimes out like a bell, an alarm he never set for himself. A joke once told to him in the midst of World War II, as bullets flew by him and soldiers lost their lives each second of each day. There's no escape from hell. No running from the devil that nipped at his heels the faster he went, the longer he tried to navigate a way free.
There's no escape from the memories that ate away in his mind. Multitudes of them, of the faces he once called family, the people he used to love. They were his punishment. The boulder he continued to roll up the hill, day after day after day. Until eventually...he was crushed by his own self-hatred.
"Logan." The voice whispered long enough for him to grasp who it might be, yet never louder than a mere breath of air.
He clung to it some days. Sunk his claws into what little of his past remained good and allowed it to fill him with some amount of peace. At least then he'd be able to bear this weight, this grief he could never quite name.
Something light brushed across his cheek. Tickling the skin enough to send a flare of irritation down his spine, but the dreams held him in their grasp. What came next never surprised him. He expected it at this point—longed for it. The distant pain of losing what once made him whole; the entirety of his life now defined by one single moment he could never change.
"He sleeps so sweetly. I just want to curl up in his arms and have him read me bedtime stories."
"He's not gonna like that when he wakes up."
"Zip it Al. If I wanted an opinion, I'd go see a Hollywood therapist."
A scoff echoed in the background. "No therapist wants you on their couch."
"Not true. I hear Ryan Reynolds has a great one."
"Who?"
"Not the point." The feather dusted across Logan's face again, soft enough to keep him asleep yet annoying enough to bring a smile to Wade's face. "I wonder if he's dreaming about killing bad guys. They say it's good for the soul."
"Who the fuck is they?"
Wade laughed. "Oh you know. Them. The readers. And boy howdy do they love their blood."
Every day he was forced to listen to Wade's voice became another day Logan dragged his claw through a tally mark of his sanity. "Do you ever shut the fuck up," he growled, gripping Wade's wrist until he heard the satisfying crack of bones.
"Only when I swallow."
"I'll tear your fuckin' arm off."
The smile on Wade’s face only added another tally. "Nice kitty. No need for the claws."
Anger washed across his skin in a familiar wave as he released Wade's arm, watching it go limp. Trying to kill the unkillable walking irritation was like trying to swat a fly that never quite died. It still buzzed incessantly. Until eventually madness was the only viable option of dealing with it. In his case, he seemed to be driving head on with no brakes.
Logan wasn't sure he possessed enough sanity left within him to keep dealing with this. Sleeping on the couch didn't help the way his body never rested; always stuck in that permanent fighting mode. He'd give anything to find some peace. A small sliver of it carved off the past that continued to call him—that begged him to come back and try again.
Swinging his legs off the couch, he planted a swift kick to Wade's chest that sent him across the floor. The lack of caffeine in his system left everything hazy and half coherent. If he focused he might have caught the keys thrown at him, but being exhausted and sober didn't make for a good combination with him. An empty whiskey bottle lay discarded on the floor from last night; the memories of how he passed out barely tinged on the edge of his mind.
He could recall stabbing Wade in the leg.
Nothing beyond that.
Dried blood—now an ugly brown—stained his white shirt. He nearly stripped himself of it, prepared to throw it in with whoever was washing next, but his flannel being chucked at his head caught him off guard.
"Fuck off," he snapped, stumbling to the kitchen.
Wade sighed, following him. "Get dressed, peanut. We have to go do human things today."
"Human–”
"Food," Al retorted. "We're out."
Even in a new universe, he couldn't see himself acting normal. For so long he did what had to in order to survive. Yet now...he wasn't so sure. Accompanying Wade Wilson in order to complete household chores left a bad taste in his mouth. But the thought of fresh coffee and an unopened bottle of whiskey sounded like sweet silver bells in his head.
With reluctance, he buttoned up half of the flannel before he became annoyed with the small size of the holes punched into the fabric. There was only so much he could do with the life he had now. And sometimes shit really sucked.
"Don't scratch my fucking car," Al pointed her words towards Wade, thankfully ignoring Logan's existence for a brief moment.
"Is it safe for her to own a car?"
The door shut behind him with a bang, echoing down the vacant hallway. He was surprised people actually lived here given Wade's antics. They could hear the loud mouthed fucker across the street—if the angry notes in the mail were anything to go by. He didn't bother asking if he should be concerned with any of it. Not when he had no say in how the house was run. And choosing to insert himself where he wasn’t needed, rarely went well for him.
"God no. But I give her the benefit of the doubt. She hasn't killed anyone. Yet."
He yanked the keys out of Wade's hand. "Yeah well I don't trust you either Bub."
The car didn't leave room for his legs as he squeezed into the driver's side. His body practically folded in half as he turned it over—the rumble of the engine rattling against metal. How Blind Al managed to pay for this vehicle went beyond even Wade's knowledge, and in all honesty…he was too fucking scared to ask.
Too much seemed to be happening for him to ever catch up. While this Earth felt similar to his, small things were different. And when they began to add up...he began to wonder if he was drowning.
"Turn left to merge onto the asscrack of traffic."
He barely heard the directions as he drove, his mind drifting the further they went. Part of him sensed the grief from earlier begin to claw up the back of his throat. It begged him to fall, to be swallowed whole by the darkness he'd been stuck in before. And he nearly gave in; could feel his body shift into its constant mode of fight or flight.
The steering wheel cracked under his white knuckled grip as Wade's voice became an afterthought to the war he fought in his mind. Terror trapped itself in his throat and he slammed his foot on the brakes a foot away from a parking spot in retaliation. The car lurched forward, his claws descended. A snarl rumbled in his chest the longer he sat there thinking.
"Woah..." For the first time in days, Wade fell silent. "You alright?"
Logan ripped himself free, shoving his body out of the car before he even threw it in park. He gulped in breath after breath and did his best to wait for this fucking feeling to leave his system. The nightmares only came as he slept. A constant familiar horror show after two centuries.
Yet now he was left like this. Leaned up against a car, his eyes closed shut, and heart racing.
All because he couldn't do his fucking job.
"Logan–"
He snapped, shoving past Wade and his pity that choked him with a vengeance. He didn't deserve anyone's pity. He didn't want it. But people couldn't help but hand it over unconsciously. As if they could see the layers of broken pieces beneath his false expression of strength. Logan never pretended to be okay. Why bother with something people could see right through?
He merely wanted others to ignore he was there. Walk past him, look through him, do whatever it took to pretend that him and all his tragedies weren't standing before them. Because one day he would die and fuck how he couldn't wait for that time to come.
A small hole in the wall dive bar sat in the corner of the shopping center. He barely caught sight of it. But the unmistakable scent of alcohol poured out the door as someone stumbled out—their eyes squeezed shut against the harsh brightness of the sun. He could understand them in a way.
His world didn't have sunlight this bright. Or perhaps he never noticed it ‘til now.
Maybe his body wasn't acclimated yet; unsure of what the fuck was still happening. Everything seemed to be turned up to eleven for him, yet no off switch existed.
The dark hazy glow of the interior sent a wave of calm through him as the door swung shut with a soft thud. Four people sat scattered around the place and a bartender with white and graying hair stood cleaning a glass so foggy it was probably better to throw it out. He found himself letting out a breath that'd been trapped in his chest since that morning. Finally some peace before he had to listen to Wade yap about bullshit he didn't in fact give a shit about.
"What'll you have?" the old man asked, his face screwing up in a wince as he limped towards Logan's spot at the end of the bar.
A quick glance down let him see the brace wrapped around the man's knee. "Whiskey on the rocks."
He nodded, slowly heading towards the center of the wall—a lonesome half empty bottle of Jack Daniels on the counter. Logan shifted, taking the center seat directly behind the man.
"I can't say I've seen you around before son."
He grinned, his finger tracing a random carving that'd been placed in the wood. "I just moved here. Living with a coworker."
"Coworker huh?"
The word didn't sound right to Logan, but he couldn't exactly call Wade his friend. Although they were more than people who fought together, more than men who shared blood during the same battle. That was the thing about Logan though. He'd never be able to put a label on something like that. To him...things weren't one or the other as much as he wanted to pretend they were. There was nuance to his life.
Complications which made living that much harder.
The man turned, surprised to see Logan so close, but didn't make note of it. Logan could see the gratitude in the way his drink was slid carefully to him. The small silent thank you in the bowl of pretzels placed beside it.
"You look lost."
Logan grunted, biting into the salty and dry snack. "Do I?"
"More than some of the others that come around here."
"And who comes around here?"
The man laughed. "No one as of late. You're the first young man I've seen in a while walk through those doors."
He bit back his laugh at the word young. The stories he could tell would leave the man baffled. About wars that no living person had witnessed. About when the world was far different than today—when mutants were freaks of nature and humans were far less forgiving. He could list it all and then some.
But whether or not someone would listen was another thing entirely.
"This place that old?" he inquired, sipping on the amber liquid with a contented sigh.
"Oh you bet." A weary laugh filled the space. "I bought this place in the sixties. When my wife was still my girlfriend. She almost left me because of it."
Logan huffed, his lips curling slightly. "She wasn't a fan?"
The man shook his head, tossing a cloth over his shoulder. "Still isn't. Well she...wasn't." He pressed his thumb to the worn gold band on his left hand. "When she was alive she used to host a book night. Helped bring in the men's wives. Kept them outta trouble."
"Book night huh?"
"She loved to read."
Before he could down the final sips of his drink it was topped off. Logan nodded his head in thanks, his thumb digging into the thumbprint shape of the glass. If he thought about it hard enough, he could almost see himself coming here every night. He pictured a life far different than his own, a past where he might have been happy. With someone who might have even made him smile.
"I'm not much of a reader," he replied, his voice hoarse and eyes fixed on the ice that floated to the surface.
"Ah me too," the man laughed. "I just liked seeing her smile."
A soft remark was on the tip of his tongue before an entirely new image began to take shape. The face of someone lost. Of a smile he'd known better than his own. Hands that once held his face with the tenderness of a lover—a voice that sent the hair rising on the back of his neck. He could see it as clear as he did the man.
You in all your beauty. Lost to a past he could no longer rectify.
He swallowed thickly, beating back every emotion that crawled under his skin. "What's your name?"
"Travis."
Raising his glass, he tipped it towards the man with a tight grin. "Logan." The alcohol went down with a quick and biting burn. A feeling he'd grown familiar with. One he counted on.
"Nice to meet you Logan."
"Yeah you too."
He dug out some cash and tossed it on the bar as he stood with a slight grunt. He may heal quickly but the ache in his bones still existed. As if something resisted against how his body moved with each slow shift.
Fighting meant he could ignore it.
Existing is what made it worse.
The sun practically burned his eyes when he stepped out, the heat of the day encompassing his whole body quicker than he would have liked. For some unknown fucking reason, summer here felt worse than on his Earth. Then again the alcohol didn't help. He stood in the shade of the building next to the bar, searching the parking lot for any sign of Wade.
Going into the store wasn't an option and as much as he wanted to leave the annoyance behind, he didn't want to feel like a piece of shit. That is...even more than he already did.
"Fuck," he hissed, leaning against the brick wall. "You've got to be fucking kidding me."
One option would be taking a walk to work off the energy that ran through his veins. At least then he'd be able to sleep at night. And the temptation almost worked. If it weren't for the shop doors that opened to his left, effectively distracting him from the chance of leaving. He could have ignored the person, probably should have given everything he'd been through.
But then his heart dropped to his stomach as you walked out. He'd never seen you in such a soft sundress before, the off white fabric draped off your curves in a way that floored him. As if you were an angel floating by without a care in the world. You were busy shoving a small piece of paper in your purse, your face furrowed in frustration, and Logan smiled. Because he'd traced each line of that face before, he'd kissed those cheeks, your eyelids as you slept.
He'd loved you in ways that would scare a normal human.
And there you were.
"Honey?" he called, unconsciously following you quicker than he intended to. "Honey."
You glanced to the side, completely unaware of the giant lumbering man trailing after you with a soft look on his face and hope in his hands.
That alone tore him in two more than the memories from before.
"Baby, it's me."
The breeze finally went through the air, pushing the skirt of your dress a bit higher on your thighs. Except that's not what he latched onto. Your scent was different. Unlike any he'd encountered before. Honey still sweetly caressed his senses, but flowers overlayed that—peonies if he guessed. Delicious enough to have his mouth watering; his body already aching for you to be closer. To look at him in the way you used to.
He wanted to call out to you—gain your attention properly—but your name wouldn't leave his tongue. Because you were there and you finally caught sight of him and you were looking at him as if nothing bad ever happened between the two of you.
You saw him as a man.
Not a disappointment.
He willed himself to stop and breathe. Take in his surroundings; realize that you weren't who he once knew. You weren't even the same fucking person.
But before he could think straight, he'd already followed you halfway to your car. His eyes were dazed, heart nearly throttling him alive as he stood there dumbly. Waiting for you to finally speak.
"Oh..." Your heart rate spiked quicker than he expected. He couldn't find it in himself to feel bad though. "Hello?"
"Honey," he sighed, the weight on his shoulders lifting ever so slightly.
He caught the way your fingers tightened around your keys, the defense mechanism an instinct by now. And Logan realized what he looked like. A strange man standing too close for your liking. So he took a step back and gave you some space. In the hopes that you wouldn't see him as a threat. That maybe...you'd listen to what he had to say.
"Can I help you?" you asked, eyes darting around the parking lot in case you needed help.
What he wouldn't give for the opportunity to reassure you. To explain that he wasn't here to hurt you. That he'd kill himself before even laying a hand on you. Yet the correct words were lost and all he seemed to get out was an incoherent babble that had him wanting to dig his own claws into his chest.
"You smell different."
You straightened your spine, eyes narrowed into a glare he felt burn across his skin. "Look, I don't know who you are. But fuck off."
Something akin to pride flared in his chest at your tone, your words. But he couldn't show it externally. How would he explain that your fight—your fire—is what drew him to you in the first place? How could he tell you about a version of yourself you'd never know? A person he thought would be with him until his last breath exhaled into the world.
"I'm not here to hurt you." He raised his hands in an attempt to prove his point, but like your variant counterpart you were willing to bite first and ask questions later.
"Yeah. Sure asshole." The shopping bag in your other hand was lifted up, until you had a tighter grip on it in case something happened. You didn't know him. You probably never would.
But Logan had to try. He owed it to you to give it all he had this time around.
Otherwise...what was the point of living?
"My name's–" He made the wrong move stepping forward and knew it the second his boot hit the gravel. With a wince, he watched you stumble back against your car, your arm coming up to protect yourself. "No. Look I'm not gonna do anything–"
"Get the fuck away from me," you spit.
He moved back as if approaching a wounded animal—his body finally on edge in a new way. The fact that you didn't know him wasn't what broke off another chunk of his heart. He could handle that. He'd been through that.
You were afraid of him.
That realization dug in too deep for his body to heal.
That...he couldn't live with.
"WOAH hey!" He'd never appreciated Wade's irritating ass more than in this moment. He jumped between the two of you, the cart of groceries forgotten as he blocked Logan from your sight. "Step away from the nice lady wolf boy." Wade regarded you with a smile. "Hi! Sorry. This is my uncle and well as you can probably tell he's lost eight of his lives. So we're going on little old nine. And well the mind just goes to shit first."
Seconds passed by like minutes and Logan watched you visibly deflate. "Wade," you greeted him, visibly calmer than before. Logan felt his stomach twist violently at the thought. "It's good to see you. How's the job?"
"Oh yup you know. Left that. But I'm really pushing through. I've got an Etsy store where I sell miniature paintings of Michael Angelo's David's penis. So there's that."
Your laughter sent a hole through his chest and Logan bit back the growl that rose up the back of his throat. What the fuck was Wade doing making friends with you? Why were you laughing at his humor?
He couldn't count how many days he'd spent longing to hear your laugh again, the shine in your eyes that always came around when joy flooded your bloodstream. He could smell the honey off your skin, the warmth of what no doubt lay beneath your thin dress. And he wanted to rip Wade to pieces knowing that he was the one making it happen. That you were comfortable with a man who's mouth ran at a mile a minute.
"Did your sister have the baby yet?"
You brightened and Logan felt his heart stutter. "She did! A boy."
"Named Wade I hope."
Another peal of laughter had Logan's claws itching to descend as you ignored he was there. "Theo actually. A cutie."
"Aww." Wade moved closer, head bent to see the small polaroid you pulled out of your wallet. "Wow, he looks like you'd find him in a Gerber's advertisement."
Your eyes drifted up, past Wade's shoulder, until you finally caught Logan's gaze. And he felt like he could breathe. Every ounce of fear was wiped from your face; interest now creeping in as you dragged your eyes down his form. Past the slight peek of chest hair and down to how his jeans hugged his hips. Logan stood taller for your benefit, as if he needed to make a good impression.
He wanted to linger in your mind for days. Until the curiosity ate you alive.
"We're gonna go," Wade announced, after grabbing your bag and placing it in your trunk for you. "Someone has to feed the blind woman in my apartment. She tends to root through everything looking for food." He gripped Logan's arm, shoving him back a good few feet. Even as your eyes still remained glued to his face. "Glad to see the Hyundai is still working. You know you could take the fattest fucking nap in the back of that puppy. Makes you feel like an Egyptian mummy."
"Bye," you said, a dazed look in your eyes as Logan smiled in your direction. At ease with the knowledge that even in a different universe, he could still fluster you with a look.
Dragging himself away from you was hell, but Wade's grip remained unbreakable as they clambered to the car. The groceries stacked in the small backseat.
He could glimpse you driving off and suddenly the nightmare from earlier was the last thing on his mind.
Tumblr media
Wade's back hit the wall with a crack before the door could shut properly. The groceries in their hands toppled to the floor. He barely had time to duck before Logan's claws were aiming for his head—a snarl ripping from his throat.
"What the fuck?" Wade shouted, grabbing the paper bag and gently setting it on the table. "Next time just say you need to stay home and find some joy in an empty room and your hand."
"How do you know her?"
Wade smiled, assessing the furious state of chaos Logan was now left in. The tatters of his stability falling to the floor around him. For as much as he held himself together, it certainly remained easy enough to tear him a part.
"Got an eye on someone, do we honey badger?"
Logan grimaced, running a hand down his face. "Would you just fucking tell me?"
"Let me bask in this Logan. I'm about to watch a romcom come to life and need some popcorn." He rummaged through the bag, yanking out some chips. "Salty and sweet. That'll do."
"Wade," he bit out.
"Stick with us girls, we're about to get to the good stuff."
"WADE!"
He tossed the bag to the table, eyeing the way Logan never quite settled. "I'm gonna take a guess and say we know her more than just friendly hellos."
Logan couldn't answer because his grief did it for him. He did what he could to catch his breath, to stop seeing his version of you. The disappointment on your face, the pain in your voice. You'd been so angry with him. To watch the person he loved be reduced to a screaming crying mess wasn't something he wanted to relive, but Wade's question seemed to send an avalanche toppling to the ground.
"She's..." He sucked in a breath. "On my world. I...knew her."
"Knew her? Or knew her."
He reached for the bottle of whiskey Wade threw in with the rest of the groceries and popped it open before he spoke again. "It didn't end well between us. None of it did."
Wade fell silent and Logan found himself loathing the quiet more than the sound of his voice. If he was joking Logan could ignore it. He could pretend nothing happened. That you weren't here, you couldn't be hurt by him again.
You were safe from his destructive tendencies as long as you were in another universe.
"She lives across the street." Logan's head rose and whipped to see the window that faced the building across from them. "The old uncultured shit whistles that keep complaining about WHAM! the greatest thing to happen to music. They're her neighbors. Live right next door."
"Neighbors."
Wade nodded, offering him a chip. "She found their note and angel that she is, she very sweetly threatened to get them evicted. I offered to let her borrow my katanas but was rejected like younger me on prom night. You've really got yourself a catch there buddy."
Logan didn't need Wade to tell him how fucking lucky he was. He knew that the second you walked out of that store. You were everything good in his life at one point, everything he couldn't save. There wasn't much keeping him going on his old Earth, but having you made all the suffering he went through—all the pain he endured—worth it.
If you were waiting for him at the end, he'd do it all over again.
"So you want to take a dip in that honey huh? Taste that rainbow?"
His claws would have sunk into Wade's throat if a knock hadn't sounded at the door. With a huff, he stepped into the kitchen, the bottle clutched tightly in his hand. Whoever decided to give Wade some luck was of no concern to him.
Or so he believed.
"I didn't mean to accidentally take your groceries," you laughed, handing over a overpacked paper bag.
Stuffing the bottle under the sink, he met you halfway to the living room, his eyes drinking in the sight of you still in that dress. Still delicate enough for him to rip if he tugged it right. Heat curled along the base of his spine when your eyes met his, wide and glimmering with your laughter. He felt himself crumple at the sight of your lips parting, the surprise at his size still enough to make you speechless.
"Good to see you again," he greeted you, voice low and soft.
You didn't mean to grow flustered in his presence, but something about the way his gaze devoured you within seconds left you breathless. The swooping sensation in your stomach became too much to handle. Desire and attraction weren't unknown concepts to you. But this felt like more. You could sense him right down to your bones and it scared the shit out of you.
"Oh right!" Wade scooched past you to swing an arm around Logan's shoulders. He did what he could to not stab him in the stomach. "This is Logan. My hunky new roommate."
Logan groaned. "Alright–"
"No, no it's good. You remember when I was declared basically the savior of the universe?"
Your face screwed up in confusion. Logan had never wanted to kiss someone more.
"Marvel...Jesus right?"
"I prefer MJ. Since I've got a Peter." Wade's head whipped to the side. "Suck it Tom Holland." His grip on Logan tightened. "This walking People's Sexiest Magazine helped. We're talking big claws, abs you just want to lick whipped cream off of–"
Logan's elbow slammed into Wade's stomach—crimson slowly tinting the tips of his ears. "That's enough."
"AND the Wolverine."
Surprised etched itself onto your face even further. Until you finally regarded Logan with a look he'd seen once before. Awe. When you first met one another in the halls of the mansion, you stared at him that exact way. As if you couldn't quite believe that iconic figure the X-Men made him out to be actually existed.
He couldn't tell if he liked it. Or if he'd rather you view him as a stranger.
"Logan," he said, offering his hand to you politely. Your skin remained as soft as he remembered.
Warmth bloomed in your body at the feeling of his calloused palm overwhelming yours, the scars across his knuckles old and ancient. Yet you found yourself wanting to trace them over and over, until the sight of them seared in your mind. You fought the urge to press your lips to them, etch your own mark into his skin. Something told you he wouldn’t mind.
Logan could see the intrigue on your face—the distracted gaze he wanted to keep in place. You were still curious. Still willing to learn about him. To pick him a part with soft words and even softer touches.
"Logan," you murmured under your breath, your eyes catching his. He felt his stomach leap at the sound of your voice whispering his name. Memories flooding his mind quicker than he expected. Of mornings spent in bed, your skin pressed against his. Of nights alone in his cabin—your stories lulling him to sleep.
Everything he willed himself to forget, yet could never truly let go of.
"I've got to head back." Disappointment filled your heart at the thought of not getting a chance to talk to him more. He had yet to let go of your hand and you found you liked his touch on your skin. "I'll see you soon Wade."
"Logan will be more than happy to walk you back," Wade replied, waving drastically behind your back. "Can't have you getting hurt now can we? Right peanut?"
You smiled. "I'm just across the street."
"I don't mind," Logan cut in, glaring at Wade to shut the fuck up.
"Okay," your voice was soft. Happy.
Logan would have done anything to keep it that way.
The walk back wasn't long enough for him to explain his actions from earlier, but you seemed to be just as smart as your variant self. Shutting the building's door, you turned to him—your dress fluttering in the breeze. Logan choked on his spit at the slight peek of your ass before you pushed the skirt back down around you.
"Did you know me?" You lead him to the corner, waiting for the traffic to die down. "On your Earth."
He paused, his eyebrows pulling together, and for a moment you wondered if you asked the wrong question. Wade told you bits and pieces of what happened since you last saw him, but Logan's background wasn't a discussion you tried to seek out. All you knew was that Wade acquired a new roommate. Not even a name.
Certainly not that he was Wolverine.
"Yes," Logan muttered, glancing at the change in lights.
You started to walk. "In what way?"
His hands curled into fists—echoes of his past rising to the surface. "We were...friends. You're a professor."
"A professor?" you exclaimed, a smile tugging on your lips. "Am I a mutant?"
He nodded. "You're able to bend time. Or control it." He snorted, following your lead towards your building. "I could never understand it. But Charles did."
The walk up to your apartment was silent, your thoughts filled with the new information he'd given you. And no matter how hard you tried to picture it, you couldn't see yourself as a mutant. A powerful being that held the ability to manipulate time who just so happened to be a professor. Somehow even thinking about it made you wonder why Logan was bothering to entertain this version of you. When the better one existed on his Earth.
"You said were."
Stopping at your door, he nearly knocked into you. "Hm?"
"Were friends. What happened?"
The answer he couldn't give you. The words he wouldn't even admit out loud to himself.
He felt his heart twist as if a knife slowly carved through his spleen. "We uh..." He coughed. "You..."
"I don't have to know." Grasping gently onto his arm, you offered a warm smile he felt down to his toes. A look he hadn't seen in quite some time. Logan could picture the last day you were happy in his head. Laughing with Charles in his office as you shared dinner, working on theories of your powers late into the night.
A week before they came.
"It's good to see you like this," he breathed, his hand reaching out to touch your cheek before stopping midair. "Happy."
Your eyebrows knit together. "I wasn't happy?"
"No." What he wouldn't give to take that information back, but it was out in the open, and as always—he remained too late.
"Why?" you asked, your hand sliding down to his much to his delight.
"I made you a promise." He sucked in a breath, his body begging him to start running. You'd be better off if you never knew. If you never remembered him in the first place. "I couldn't keep it."
I'll always keep you safe.
Words he refused to say again.
How could he promise this version of you that? How could he look you in the eyes and lie again? Breaking his Earth's you would haunt him for the rest of his life. He couldn't fathom doing it all over. It would kill him.
Except you weren't the person in his mind. You weren't the mutant who hated him with every fiber of your being. You were you. A continuous surprise that left his heart stuttering in his chest each time you looked his way. An enigma he found himself wanting to unravel.
"Maybe this time around you can," you said softly, letting him go with a smile as you entered your apartment, effectively opening the wound in his heart so wide there was no saving him.
Although he now knew something he didn’t know before.
He didn’t want to be saved.

‌So many fun dates!!
‌Even during the meals he'll have a similar idea to hyunjin and simply won't shut up
‌Most of his compliments don't involve around your body, so you really don't think about it
"I love this hairstyle of yours. It looks wonderful"
Seungmin - protects you
‌In a sense that no one even dares to comment on your looks/habits
Even if he isn't there with you
‌That because he made it very clear that everyone should watch their mouths around you
‌For as long as he's around you, he will do his best and more to protect you from harmful comment
Also tries to experiment a lot of different foods with you all the time, so you never feel like that's a burden or a bad thing
"Hey, have you heard about the new restaurant close to home? The food is peruvian. We could have dinner there tonight."
I.N - physically reassures you
‌He loves you and every single part of you, including your looks
I believe he was a bit lost in the beginning, not exactly sure on how to help you
‌But even if his words aren't exactly his biggest strength, he still wants to reassure you as much as he can
‌So he does that with his touch
‌Holding you on his lap, kissing all of your "imperfections" and tracing patterns in your skin
‌Anything that can ground, reassure and give you comfort at the same time
"Have I ever told you how perfect you are? I should tell you that more."

Tumblr media
It’s a slow day. Every day is slow out in Tumble Down. The township’s name tells the whole story. Everything there is in decline. It’s hard to imagine there was ever a time when the people weren’t tiny and forgotten in the hubbub of the bigger world. Since the mines closed and the canning factory was outsourced, it feels even smaller.
Smaller isn’t so bad. It’s simpler. You all know each other’s names and faces. You say hi and how are you and do what needs to be done. Simple is, simple as.
You here there isn’t much to do in most small towns. Not for fun or for work. You’re one of the lucky ones. You got a job down at the diner in your sophomore year. It helped pay for your daddy’s new engine and since then, it keeps you all afloat in the rising waters of disparity as they close in on Tumble Down.
You hum to the old radio that sits on the shelf you make sure to dust. The speakers crackle from time to time and the signal gets wonky in storm season, but the music’s never bad. It’s the classic stuff that always played in your mother’s kitchen.
You wipe down another table. Not because it needs it, just because it’s something to do. The day has been long and listless. Even the breakfast rush was lower than usual.
Darnell, the cook, whistles along from the back. Everyone knows he isn’t as mean as he looks. He just likes his space.
As you go back to the counter and lean on it, staring at the ticking clock, a roar cuts through the distance. You blink and look up, narrowing your eyes at the dusty country road outside. Wind rustles through the tall wheat in the field opposite and the noise rumbles closer and closer.
A man pulls in a motorbike. He’s going so fast that he has to circle the gravel lot before he can slow down. It’s not Lenny and his prized Harley but another man on a more modern-looking mount. Not far behind, another motorcycle zips through and the riders straddle their bikes as the survey the restaurant.
You narrow your eyes. You probably need glasses but you make do. The last time you got your eyes checked, you didn’t have enough for the frames.
The one man wears blue and red, an odd helmet on his head. Not a helmet at all but a sort of mask. The other man has dark hair to his chin and a beard to match. He’s all in black but his left arm shines with gold ripples. Not a sleeve, an arm, made of metal.
“Oh my lord,” you murmur in shock, “Darnell!” You holler over your shoulder, “you’re not gonna believe this.” You turn to the window as he pokes his head around, “not sure I do myself. Tell me my eyes aren’t lyin’.”
He looks above your head, an easy task for the mammoth cook. He hums and swirls around his spatula. “Thems those boys on the news. The one that was in the old war. Grandad’s battle.”
“I’m not going crazy with boredom?” You bubble.
He snorts. It’s as close to a laugh as you get from him. You spin back and hurry around the counter to grab a pair of menus. Still, you don’t want to seem too eager. You put down the menus and fiddle with a napkin holder instead.
The bell over the door jingles and swipe up the menus and turn. You really can’t believe it’s them. Yet, as Captain America removes his cowl, you’re certain. They look just like they do on the TV. Even with your sight, you can tell.
“Hello, fellas, how are you doin’ today?”
The dark-haired one, the Winter Soldier, glances at the other, his cheek dimpling, “well... we’re... uh...”
“We’re doing great,” Steve Rogers answers brightly. “Starving. You guys serve bacon? My buddy’s dying for some.”
“Um, yes, sirs, yes. Can I sit ya down?” You ask, hugging the menus closer.
“Please,” the Captain accepts as the other man stays silent and pensive, his eyes wandering down to the coffee stain on your apron.
“Just here,” you sweep away and wave them on with you. You stop beside the nicest booth and lay down a menu on each side, “have a seat.”
They do just as you bid. The blond puts his cowl on the table and unhooks the shield from his back to lay on the far end of the seat. He smooths back the sweaty strands of hair as his companion stretches his metal fingers. You sway nervously by the table, twitching as you remind yourself how to do your job.
“Well, can I get ya started with coffee? You look beat from the road.” You beam with the smile Mr. Welk says could outshine the sun.
“Not just the road,” the dark-haired one mutters as he rolls his shoulder. The one that connects to his real arm. “I’ll take one, please.”
“Can I get an orange juice, please,” the Captain asks.
“Course ya can. I’ll be right back. You have a look at the specials and give it a think,” you bounce and spin around.
You go to pour the orange juice and a cup of black coffee. Darnell lingers by the window. He only ever really appears to put a plate up but he watches the new arrivals.
You bring their drinks and step back, clasping your hands behind you.
“Did ya need cream or sugar for your coffee, sir?” You ask.
“Black’s fine,” he assures.
“No need for the sirs. Steve, Bucky,” Captain America insists, “we’re off duty.”
“Right, sorry about that, ssss...Steve,” you correct yourself. “You need some more time?”
“Think I’m decided,” Bucky intones, “what about you?”
“Set,” Steve confirms, “I’ll have the sunny side up with toast and sausage. Can I get some fruit on the side as well, please?”
He hands over the menu and you take it as you hold your smile. Your cheeks ache. Not because you have to force it but because you can’t stop. This is the most exciting thing to happen in Tumble Down ever. If Darnell wasn’t there, no one would believe you.
“Overeasy, bacon, extra bacon too, and some french toast, and uh... home fries.” Bucky offers up the second menu, “please and thank you.”
“Alrighty,” you preen, “I’ll put your order in.”
“Got it,” Darnell growls over the empty diner.
“He’s got good hearing,” you giggle nervously as you look between the men. “Ummmm, sorry, I’ll leave ya be.”
“You’re not bothering,” Steve assures. “I can see you’re dying to ask.”
He gives a gentle smile.
“Nah, oh, gosh. I’m sure ya get it all the time. I don’t wanna be one of those,” you put your hands up. “Really, you all look like you could use the peace and quiet.”
“Well, actually, I’ve been stuck with this meathead for days,” Bucky scoffs, “so please, I’d love to hear someone else’s voice.”
You laugh again. They’re funnier than you expect. They always look so serious on the TV.
“What... what are y’all doing here in Tumble Down? It’s a bit far from... anywhere.” You ask sheepishly.
“Tumble Down? Is that what it’s called?” Steve scratches his neck above his stained collar. “Well, we couldn’t get a signal so we’ve just been riding through. Saw the sign down the way and figured we’d get a bite.”
“He’s lying. He was falling asleep on his bike,” Bucky teases.
“Sure,” Steve shakes his head. “Only ‘cause I’m tired of you.”
You giggle again, “I thought y’all were friends.”
“Friends, partners, cursed with each other, have your pick,” Bucky snorts.
“He’s playing,” Steve says. “Look, we’re boring. Despite what you think. We’re a couple of old men bickering with each other. What about you? What about Tumble Down?”
“Ah, nothing really, sir. Steve,” you squeeze the menus tight at the edges. “Nothing going on since the coal law and that. Everyone’s all but run out. All but us.”
“Just you? Your family?” Steve wonders.
“Jesus, Steve, nosy much?” Bucky says over the brim of his mug.
“Sorry. He’s right. Like I said. Crotchety old man. I talk to the pigeons.”
You laugh again, “oh my, you are a hoot!” You slap your thigh emphatically, “I’m still my ma and pa. It’s just the three of us. They need help with the animals and that.”
“Animals?” Steve wonders, his posture shifting towards you.
“Chickens, cows. They got a farm. Was my grandpa’s. And his ma kept it going after he didn’t come home from... well, you’d know more about that time than me, I think.” You give a forlorn look to the floor.
“Oh, I’m so sorry about your grandfather. Great grandfather,” he corrects himself.
“Lotta good men gone,” Bucky mulls grimly.
“Yeah, my great granny said as much. I wouldn’t know though, but I heard the stories,” you dare to look at them again. “Sorry to bring up the bad memories.”
“Nah,” Bucky waves you off casually. “I got this nifty arm outta it.”
“And I got a shield so, you know, not all losses,” Steve chuckles.
“I s’pose,” you agree. “I’m gonna check on that food for ya. You good with your coffee?”
Bucky raises the mug, “delicious.”
You nod and turn with a swish of your skirt. You go up to the window and look over the ledge. “How’s it going, Darnell?”
“Going. I’m happy it ain’t Raylene here. She’s got a mouth on her, don’t she? Them sort don’t deserve that trouble,” he tisks.
“They’re nice. And Raylene is too. She’s just... Raylene,” you say, “can I help with anything?”
“I don’t wanna be rude but I’m tired of tellin’ ya to stay outta my kitchen. You know the grill likes to spit,” he shakes his head. “You go, I’ll let ya know when it’s ready.”
“Alright,” you back away and turn back.
Steve and Bucky lean over the table, their voices low as they chat. As you move around behind the counter, they both sit up and the former clears his throat. You smile as you take the cloth from your apron pocket and wipe the already clean counter.
As the radio buzzes, you hum without thinking. Stevie Ray Vaughan’s smoky voice mingles with the emotion plucked through electric strings. Your dad’s a big fan. He has old tapes with concerts on them and even went to one himself.
The bell rings and you nearly jump out of your shoes. You turn and scoop up the plates as you thank Darnell. He grumbles that he’s going out to have a smoke; his code for having a Tootsie Pop by the backdoor.
You bring the meals over to the table and set them down before the men. Their gazes make you sweat. It’s all a little more intense with no one else there.
“Thank you,” Steve says and Bucky echoes him.
“Not at all. Anything else? Water? Ketchup?”
“It all looks great as is,” Steve says, “you got a nice voice.”
“Oh, really? Ha, I was just humming out of tune. Sorry if I was too loud.”
“Not at all,” Bucky picks up his fork as he leans forward. He tilts his head. “You know this one?”
“Sure do. It’s Fleetwood Mac,” you answer. “One my all times.”
He grins and nods as he looks at Steve. Steve watches you with a smile of his own.
“Do you sing?” He asks.
“Me? Only in my shower or to the chickens. They usually hide in the henhouse then.” You tinkle with laughter.
“Ah,” Steve nods.
“But if... if ya really wanna suffer, I could try it,” you smile, “but uh, you know, Stevie Nicks, she’s one of a kind.”
“I’ve had worse,” Steve says.
You look between him and Bucky. You chew your lip and think. You follow the song as you try to recognise which verse it is. You squint and perk up as you catch your place.
“You just let me know when you’ve had enough,” you say before you start. Not only can you tell your pa that you met the super soldiers, you can tell him you sang for them. It’ll be a nice bit of excitement for the dinner table.

hi love !! could I request a james potter fic where fem reader meets his ex girlfriend who's like really pretty 😔 and james reassures her and stuff 🫶
thank you for requesting!! this is probably the most romantic thing i've ever written and i feel a bit shy about this, i hope you enjoy <33333
james potter x fem!reader, modern au
james looks so pretty under the sunset.
his locks shine with the light, his glasses reflect your admiring look, his lips are curved into a generous smile. he drinks his wine, casual sips as he tells you a story of a prank he did with the boys last year. you try to listen. you really do.
it's just that- your boyfriend is so lovely, you feel like your ears can't catch up enough to listen to him. he's gorgeous, you have a lovesick smile on your face, you wonder when james will realize you have no idea what he's saying.
he reaches for your hand on the table. you squeeze his fingers. he takes another sip from his wine.
"and then there was this dragon which ended up burning the entire thing, sirius was yelling like he's in a shakespeare play while remus was fainting in the corner-"
"what?" you ask suddenly. "why did he faint?"
james laughs so hard, you feel silly under his gaze. he mirrors your lovesick expression. "i just told you there was a dragon and you're wondering why remus fainted?"
"dragon? what do you mean, like- a movie?" you feel your brain shuts off completely.
"you know, you look so beautiful today." he says, coolly. "i mean, you're practically glowing, that's why i'll forgive you for not listening my story."
"i'm sorry, jamie." you say. "i was- distracted. tell me again, i promise i'll listen."
james kisses the back of your hand. "it wasn't that fun anyway. you didn't finish your pizza, angel, come on."
you take a bite from your pizza slice. you feel shy, he looks at you so sweetly. you decide not to tell him why you haven't been listening. maybe when it's just the two of you, but not in a restaurant because james has a tendency to make you blush hard, especially in public places.
"okay, but you have to tell it again sometim-"
"james?" your voice is interrupted by someone.
you look up from your plate to see a pretty woman looking at james, standing next to your table. she's gorgeous, you think there is no limit of a woman's beauty. you realize the charm of girls for sure, feeling the pride of girlhood. you give her an easy smile, thinking she's a friend of james.
"oh- hi." james says, surprised. "i wasn't expecting to see you."
the girl smiles to him. "i was just leaving, thought i'd say hello." she turns to you, introduces herself kindly. you return her smile, telling her your name.
james watches the interaction with a weird look on his face, you don't know why. "my friends are waiting, i have to go." the girl says. "it was nice to see you, james."
she bids you goodbye and you wave behind her, watching her joining her friends. you're still smiling slightly when you look at james.
the air surrounding your table changes somehow. you don't see it at first but james looks at you like he has something to say. he looks nervous and you hate seeing his pretty face wrinkling with a pinch of worry.
"are you okay, jamie?" you ask, worrying back.
"yeah, yeah, i'm- i'm okay."
he doesn't look okay.
"you look like you're gonna say something." you say, encouraging him with a smile.
"it's just- i mean it doesn't matter now, obviously but i think you still should know. i don't wanna hide anything from you."
"what is it, baby?" you ask, clearly distressed.
james holds your hand again. "that girl was my ex girlfriend, angel. we dated for a few weeks, then we decided we weren't right for each other and broke things off."
"oh." you say, not knowing how to react for a second.
"i know it can be weird for you but there's no need to hide anything. i haven't seen her since we broke up which was like a year and a half before i met you."
you squeeze his fingers. "it's not weird, i think." you say after a second. "i mean, was it a bad break up?"
james shakes his head. "no, not really." he answers. "but we didn't stay friends, we just went to our own paths. it wasn't all bad."
"i see." you say with a kind smile. "thanks for telling me."
james smiles back. "there's nothing i'd hide from you. no need for that."
you take a slow bite from your pizza. a sip from your nearly full glass. it's not that seeing james's ex is a terrible thing, you're adults and he's your boyfriend now. the girl was really nice too, she didn't do anything to bother you. it's just that-
she was really pretty. you imagine her with james for a second in your mind, they would objectively look beautiful as a couple. you can't help your thoughts wandering there, it's like an instinct. you wonder how you and james look. comparing yourself with people is not something you usually do, you learned it doesn't do you any good long ago. your eyes stare at the corner of the table as you think all of these, an empty look with a full mind behind.
"sweetheart?" james's voice comes like you're under the water. you look up to him, your fingers are wrapped around the cold glass. "are you okay?"
you nod. you're okay, why wouldn't you be?
"i'm okay." you say. "sorry, what were you saying?"
james smiles fondly. "you're thinking of something."
you can't find the words and then you can.
"it's nothing bad, it's just-" you start. "she was really beautiful. i was- i couldn't help but imagine you two."
james doesn't say anything and you feel like a weirdo. foolish girl.
"sorry." you laugh, it's not a natural look on your face this time. "i'm sorry, i'm being weird. you don't have to say anything."
"no, of course not." james says. "you're not being weird."
you look at him and he's so serious this time. your eyes are questioning the meaning of his expression.
"sweetheart." he starts when you don't say anything. "i don't care if she's pretty or not right now. it doesn't mean anything to me."
"yeah?" you ask, quietly.
"you think i can realize the beauty of other people when i literally have the most beautiful girl sitting here with me?" he asks. "do you believe i can pay attention to someone else when i have you?"
"you can always find people pretty, jamie." you say. "it's not-"
"i can, but i don't." he says firmly. "look, our break up wasn't terrible, but it was inevitable. she wasn't right for me and i wasn't right for her."
"and i'm right for you?" you ask with a small smile.
"you are right for me." he says. "no matter what happens, i think 'i would do anything to keep her.' anything to stay with you, anything to be with you. i have the urge to try harder every day to be your other half. i didn't have it with someone else before you."
and now you're smiling until your cheeks ache. it takes everything of your power to stop yourself from reaching across the table and kissing his lips. you extend a shaky hand to him instead, he takes it. it's the way he says the words, not like he's trying to prove something but like telling you the most basic facts about him. he has deep feelings for you and he's brave about them, he doesn't need to hide them.
"you know." you start, playing with his fingers. "the reason i couldn't hear the story of your prank was that you were too damn distracting. i look around and all i see is you. you are so pretty, i- i can't focus on anything else."
james kisses your knuckles. "aren't you my little romantic?"
"i guess i am." you reply, your lips curl upwards. "you made me this way. i can't help but feeling jealous over this, i think i want us to be special."
james drinks another sip of wine. you're trying to kill him aren't you? the sweet words, sunset, alcohol. his poor heart. he doesn't think he can take it.
"we are special." he manages to say. "i've never loved someone like i love you. i think i might have my heart explode out of love, do you know how that feels like?"
you chuckle sweetly. "yes." you say. "have you seen yourself? of course i know how that feels like."
"you are the prettiest girl everywhere we go." he says, casually. "i think i should prove that to you when we get home. i hate how you can think of something other than this."
you blush, touch the cold glass to relieve some warmth. "you can prove it, i guess."
"and now, i'll tell you the prank again." he says. "this time you gotta listen. close your eyes if my looks are too distracting."
you laugh, relieved that he changes the subject. the air is nice again, the dinner is nice and the wine is good. james's jokes are funnier than ever. his love confessions and endearing words make your eyes tear up with a huge smile on your face. you listen his prank and make sure you give him a good reaction.

How...how are you alive?
Kenji sato x Fem! [Different demention] Reader.
☆♡☆♡☆
SUMMARY:Ken had a lover named Y/n, but she had passed away. He was devastated from that. Then 2 years later his mother was declared dead. So he took the opportunity to move to japan and restart his career in his home country. But then something strange happened. There was a exact copy of his lover in his living room. Except she wasnt his y/n. She was different.....from a different demention.
[A/n:Im gonna try and make this into like a series i guess lol]
(Warning: sexual tension, angst, confusion, crying, my cutie ken sad basically the whole story. Y/n has brown eyes & brown hair[ya know bc shes from a different demention]<tell me if i missed any>)
Pt1, pt2, pt3, pt4, pt5.
♡♡♡♡
It was different. Sad. Not like what he had thought his life would feel like. Y/n had died 2 years ago because of cancer. He remembers her blue eyes sparkling like the ocean when the sun began to rise from the night sky. Her blonde hair swaying in the wind perfectly all fluffy and soft. Her plumped lips smiling showing her pearly white teeth. Her dress would be thigh length and sway in the wind so majestically. Her sweet voice would say the most beautiful things when she spoke. But then....her eyes became dried cracked wholes in her head. Her hair began to fall out and become like straw. Her smile started to turn into a signature line. Her voice started to sound ruff and hard. But one thing never changed. How much she loved Kenji. Everytime she saw him walk into her hospital room with the signature red roses and smiling happy to see her fiancé. But then it all ended with that one last beep on the monitor. After that he didnt want to find love ever again. It hurt to much. The sound of her laughter when they would cuddle and tickle each other. Or when they would wake up with each other in bed and stay there all day. It wouldn't be the same.
Then 2 years after that his mom was declared dead. Something snapped in him. He moved to japan to restart his career and forget about everything that wanted to make him cry all day.
So now he was on his way to play basbell. The Giants. Fight as Ultra man. And restart. But how he had asked to please make the pain stop to anything that could have the power to. Anything.
.
.
.
That was until he woke up to a crashing in his living room and a female screaming.
He had grabbed his baseball bat and tip toed to the sound. It was a girl. A women. She turned around and looked at him scared.
.
.
.
It was Y/n.
But it wasn't her exactly....She has brown hair and brown eyes. Probably taller than her and more plump in some areas...*ahem*.
"(Y/n?)"
She looked even more confused. "Uh, yes" she said uncertain. "Who are you and why the fuck am i here?"
He was in shock. Why was there someone that looked like his y/n but so so different. Plus his y/n never cussed. The only bad word he ever heard her say was crap. And she said fuck like shes used to saying it.
"W-Wait, you dont know me?" Kenji asked confused. He waited for her answer. ".....nooo?"
Fuck. What the fuck. How is this possible.
But, after some time. He learned that Y/n was 22 and was living in California. She worked at a cafe and book store to make ends meat. She was the complete opposite to what y/n was like. She didn't even have the same color at all like her. Brown hair, brown eyes, playful/sassy attitude and less innocent.
"Well, can you help me get to my home demention because like ya know, im not suppose to be in this one?"
Damn. She's right. She has to go home sometime. He looks at her thinking.
"Plus, everytime you look at me your litterely burning holes into my ass and tits"
Yep she definitely not his Y/n. How will this go now. His life is already a mess to began with...
