The Scout Guide + Sean Anderson VESTA preview party

On November 16th, The Scout Guide Memphis co-hosted a preview party at "The Retreat," a showhouse that was one of six homes featured as part of the 2017 Vesta Home Show.  Longtime Scout Guide member, Sean Anderson, designed the interiors of this gorgeous home — from the building finishes and impressive fine art installations all the way down to the smallest accesories.  And it was evident how much care and attention was lavished upon this house: photo-ready vignettes and layered furnishings delighted at every turn.  

We were especially thrilled that for this project and cocktail event, Sean collaborated with nearly 20% of The Scout Guide Volume 4 members!  For the home itself, Sean secured some of the furnishings from Stash Home and Hey Rube by Becca Gaines.  Anna Wunderlich, art consultant, assisted Sean in curating the unique fine art throughout the home and especially in the office, which was styled as a gallery space.  Other paintings and sculpture were selected from the David Lusk Gallery, including an installation by Catherine Erb.   Carmen Bond, owner of Social, also contributed some lovely accessories to complete the house decor.  

For the event, Guardian Concierge was on hand to shuttle guests to the home, while Sarah Rossi of Selavie Photography captured lovely images of the home and party-goers.  It was a chilly night, but guests warmed themselves around the outdoor fireplace while enjoying yummy bites by Elizabeth Heiskell Catering and a specialty cocktail from Cara Greenstein of Caramelized.  

Sean describes his style as "a blend of fresh and functional, classic and contemporary, a just­‐right mix of old and new that is forever timeless."  His obsession over the smallest details results in a finished product that is truly flawless.  

The home itself was contructed by The Longtown Company: "The Retreat is a warm and moody brick home, designed for relaxed entertaining and peaceful living.  A light-filled foyer invites you through the stairhall, into a gracious living room that is open to the kitchen and informal dining.  A wet bar connects back to the dramatic formal dining room.  Floor to ceiling windows draw your focus to the backyard oasis (by Gurley Azalea Garden). The house wraps around and contains the elegant pool courtyard.  Wood planked walls add organic warmth to the monochromatic interiors as it carries you along the main gallery to the master suite.  The stately study features a full bath and storage closet. There is also a generous home office/craft room, and secluded guest suite on the ground floor.  Upstairs there is a large media lounge with bath and bar areas.  The upper landing leads to two more guest bedrooms, each with private baths and substantial closets."
