Our leaders have failed us but we must not fail ourselves dear Africans in the motherland. They have failed to expunge poverty and hunger from our lands that leads to blind faith in anything that absolves us of blame. Populism is sweeping through the world and one of the weapons it’s uses is propaganda. Painting lies as truth. This has taken form in South Africa where a people have decided to blame other Nationalities for their problems especially Nigerians. Africa has gone thru ages of oppression and it would be really stupid of us to oppress ourselves. It never ends well. History has taught us that. South Africa 🇿🇦 should find solutions to this issue and call its people, people who have engaged in this nefarious and unfair act on citizens of other countries to order. The socio-economic impact of these #xenophobic acts are pretty obvious. No country will take kindly to the attack on its citizens. The only thing African countries should be busy doing is to restore our countries to glory. Also let us all treat our women better. Without women there are no men. The violence against women is at an alarming rate in South Africa. There has to be a solution and stop to this. PUT A STOP XENOPHOBIA! For my first post, I'd like to voice my opinion about something that has been taking place for a while now, even though it doesn't necessarily have to do with my theme, I just feel like this matter needs to be spoken about and that the youth of today needs to take more notice about it. I personally think that xenophobia is bad, not to mention that its ten times worse when its in an anti-apartheid country, which has fought for the rights and for freedom of people. I'm not a fan of bringing religion into certain topics, but Leviticus 19:33-34 states that instead of hurting those that come to our land, we should help them, and make then feel like they're our family, rather than "foreigners" or "outsiders" What bothers me the most is that Nelson Mandela fought for the rights and freedom of others, he fought for people, so that they would be able to make their own decisions and choices, so that we would be able to live in a peaceful country. Xenophobic attacks basically burry all that Madiba fought for in the dust, don't you agree? Why are we fighting when we could talk it out.. why are we causing so much harm to others, when they're in need of help? Put a stop to Xenophobia. Look at yourself, and make a change. Be considerate and try put yourself in someone else's shoes. At the end of the day, we're going to need each other at some point, let's rather stick together and make this world a better, more peaceful place!

As a South African who has been born and raised under the legacy of ‘The Rainbow Nation’; to watch the regression of my fellow South Africans into the brutality and discrimination that once characterised our past has been heart-breaking.
Every life matters.
SA is a diverse country made up of beings originating from the entire globe - it is one of our traits, our best features. To kill innocent people because of their background is inexcusable.
To the people who have forgot their humanity the past few days; in their lynching and their looting - I sincerely hope you regain it.
That you see again the accepting, diverse nation that we want our country to be.

Where do you come from A futile question that separates one from life and death Where do u come from Well I'm from Malawi dedza so does that give You the authority to latch 3 bullet shelves into my cranium destroying my left hemisphere and you considered that being the right way of thinking I don't fear or envy you for death Will ultimately bring me closer to my maker Closer to my father I forgive for u know not what you are doing Though u can visually see the pain you have cause my fellow "foreigners" And it brings tears to my eyes knowing that we can't live in harmony
I say you can keep your xenophobia but stop the brutality You chant hate speech and continue to live the depiction of the what man who labeled all of us barbaric niggers Mean while they're just as foreign as I am As you are As we are
So I ask again Where do u come from
Peter Banda The Malawian
