Weekly Watch On Stocks For The Week Ended Friday 12-April

In the week ended Friday, 12April, on weekly basis, the Sensex declined 0.24% to settle at 38,767.11. The Nifty50 index declined 0.19% to settle at 11,643.45, while Nifty Midcap100 index was down by 0.50% and Crude oil prices hit five-months high during the week. The stocks through sectors, Auto index advanced 2.5%, FMCG rose 2.2%, Pharma index up 1.6%. On the other hand, the realty index ended flat, Metal index seen some profit booking and declined by 2%, Bank Nifty and Infrastructure index declined 0.50% each.  Meanwhile, TCS has announced its Q4 earnings. The IT major reported its net profit to be at Rs.8,126-Crore for the 4th quarter of 2019 as compared to Rs8,105-Crore during the previous quarter of 2019, on Q-o-Q basis.  The Infosys also announced its Q4FY19 results. The Company’s consolidated net profit for the quarter rose 12.9% on Q-o-Q to Rs.4,074-crore. Going ahead, next week markets is expected to react CPI and IIP data. Earning Results season would remain in the focus as Wipro Ltd, Reliance Industries Ltd, Mindtree Ltd, HDFC Bank, ICICI Lombard and RBL Bank are scheduled to release their quarterly earnings next week. Markets witnessed high volatility on Friday amid profit booking highly emerged in the media, metals and IT stocks. The Sensex gained 0.37 percent to end the week at 38,164.61 and the NSE Nifty 50 advanced 0.26 percent, to close at 11,456.90. Strong FPI inflows in the market boosted sentiment through the week. However, gains were wiped out for the day by profit booking on last trading session of Friday. As per media reports, Fitch Ratings cut India's economic growth forecast for the next FY starting April 1, to 6.8percnet from its previous estimate of 7 percent, looking to the on weaker than expected force in the economy. The rating agency has also reduced growth forecasts for FY2020 to 7% from 7.3% and for FY2021 7.1% from 7.3%, that also weighed on investors sentiment. Top gainers on the Nifty50 on weekly basis include PowerGrd Corpn (up 5.81%), Kotak Mahindra bank (up 5.30%), Infosys) up 4.90%), Hindalco (up 4.16%) and Indian Oil Corp (up3.94) On the other hand, major Nifty losers for the week are NTPC (down12.37%), Maruti Suzhki (down 7.53%), Hero Moto Corp (down 5.39%), Eicher Motors (down 5.19%) and Coal India (down4.63%).
