They’re probably racist but like at least u know
Its america dude
“You buy my ticket n ill go”
“You buy my uber n i’ll go”
The methods i use in my mind to make sense of the world get more and more complex and harder and harder to find people who relate to them
The decision not to care is a luxury afforded only to the fortunate and the fools.
Existence is a crime in that house
The wheels of society would move much slower if men like you were behind the wheel
“Man i think life will stop throwing you curveballs when you stop hitting them out of the park. Cos yaknow, evidence suggests you can fkn handle one”
“What are you drinking?”
“Water”
“Why is it yellow with a chilli salt rim?”
“He was the coolest motherfucker you ever met. Even in a wheelchair.”
“You idle at 100 in NY”
I will let sleeping dogs lie. But if the dog is awake and coming for me, you bet i will be swinging at it
Haha the only difference between god, magic and science is what you choose to believe in
Dunbassery n essex st stn
“People are delusional, and im kinda jealous”
Every day ends in y. Out here, most of them end with “why?”
New York is a city just big enough and just diverse enough to convince people it is the world. And to some, it is.
Ima bout to dragonball z this boy
“I like large parties. There isnt any privacy at small parties”
Just saw a kid duck the turnstiles to enter the subway and open the emergency exit gate for their mum. These two are goin places.
People are more alive here
When you gotta fight and hustle to survive, you dont wind up with a bunch of whining drones whinging of this and that, and feeling discontent. You end up with a hungry, eager mob. Keen to get out of the grind
“Let me know when you’re back and we’ll paint the town gin, vermouth and campari red”
“We have a fuckin dog in a backpack do ya think were jewish?”
I got a taste of it, but not enough to satiate the taste I got.
The flavor and character of this place have me wanting to dive in and devour and figure it out.
I love perth but theres no mood. No vibe when you walk outside.
Here, anything can happen, every day.
There, you have to try hard as hell to make anything happen at all
New yorkers take no shit, believe no bullshit and waste no time. The stereotype is they’re a bunch of cunts. I disagree. The picture i have of these people now is that they are a population of veterans. Lifes veterans.
Living in this city ages you a week where other people live a day. You get pretty sick of people taking their time to find their wallet in line when you’re trying to make your next dollar to pay rent. Time is valuable to these folks.
They simultaneously understand that the secret to survival and to not going insane is to be kind.
People open doors for each other, give money to buskers, pay the homeless, tip more, use manners, hold open doors, let people go first, hold up a train for a stranger, let someone else have the seat and all the rest.
They know this gets other’s through the days and they appreciate when others do it for them.
So what you end up with is a city of good cunts who take no shit.
My type of city.
The rich cunts though still got nothing better to talk about than sex and capitalism
“Listo para lucha?”
Peer pressures only a bad thing if you’re a weak willed idiot with bad friends
Well, aint one of us miserably broke optimistic pricks ever had the better half of a clue what was goin on with this circus of an existence so i guess we’ll all just keep getting out of bed and deciding to find and follow our old faithful ways of keeping it all together
To be human is to lack
I may be thinking about that song for a while. The sound an NYC train makes when grinding up against the tracks as it starts to move. The whistle that starts low then moves high then meets an equilibrium somewhere in the middle.
The deal sealed as the J train sped by me at Kosciuszco st stn and as i stared at it in a moment of reflection, realizing this may be one of the last times i ever see the sight, as it passes me, on the back, is a man. Holding on. Streched wide like a starfish, arms out holding on. Hangin in. Getting where he’s going.
And as i walk off the stairs and stand in front of the smoke shop, the little caesers, the taco truck, 99c store, deli and the gourmet grocer, i think back on how i felt when I first got off this train, with my bags on me and scared. Nervous about this new place, thoughts in my head of Mexico and my dry as wallet.
Turns out after nine months away, three of them here, im a little less forgiving, a little more direct and a lot more seasoned. Ready for whatever i put myself to next. I’m just not allowed to forget that I am responsible for what that will be and NO GOOD THING COMES WITHOUT EFFORT.
As the lil blue dot on the map finally approaches the city I’ve shown to so many people on the same map this year, I get a glimpse of yellow land. Dust and dirt and trees and blue blue skys.
The nose tilts down the gears come out.
Im home.
After nine months. Whether it feels like it or not.
Time to reshape home.

HONG KONG UPDATE 6 OCT 2019: 1700-2000
This is a patch-up update.
Tumblr media
1708: HK Island. Water cannon truck on Connaught Rd Central moving towards Admiralty.
1710: Large amounts of tear gas shot on Hennessy from pedestrain bridge at police HQ. Citizens retreat eastward.
1711: Wanchai. Multiple shots of tear gas, Fleming Rd.
1717: Prince Edward. Arrests, press not allowed near by police "for their safety". Tear gas outside West Kowloon Centre.
1722: Sham Shui Po. Car attack. Taxi driver rammed taxi at high speed into crowds twice. Video showed taxi UZ 6660 crashing victims into shop wall. Woman trapped between car and shop wall until crowd pushed car off. 2 women injured, 1 severely with both legs broken. Taxi located as a Chinese flag bearing taxi in RTHK footage, driver is pro-CCP. Some incensed citizens hit him and his taxi after the attack. His taxi was trashed and his head was bloody but other protesting citizens protected him. Even after a beating, HKers still ensuring that it only remains a beating. Volunteer medics (belonging to protesting citizens' side) treated all three until ambulance came. Both taxi driver and victims sent to same hospital apparently. I'd say HKers are pretty kind...if it was somewhere else, this driver would have been beaten to death... Later, riot police surrounded the ward where the woman with broken legs was instead of the driver's and did not allow anyone to enter except her closest family. Her family avoided the press. According to a warzone doctor with 18yrs experience (incl Middle East, South Sudan, Haiti, Yemen), even in actual real war/armed conflict, both parties respect rules take off all weapons and gear in hospital. The doctor shared that a phenomenon that does not even occur in Third World locations and regions of armed conflict is happening in HK right now and criticises the HK police for their ignorance of rules, for causing terror to public and ppl at hospital, and for endangering safety of patients and medical staff.
1728: Wanchai: A lot of tear gas at Tonnochy Rd. Citizens try to resist with molotovs and bricks but distance out of reach.
1732: Mong Kok. Local residents panic after police fire projectiles from police stn. TVB footage shows several ppl arrested in inner streets of Prince Edward.
1735: Wanchai. Police charging in Hennessy and shooting tear gas with intention to have quick dispersal, but still tens of thousands on road, so not practical.
1743: Wanchai. A drill truck is used as a roadblock.
1754: HK Island. Police have paused for the time being. They might have realised that it was unrealistic to expect such a quick dispersal given size of crowd on the road. Citizens taking chance to rebuilt barricades.
1755: Wanchai. Sudden charge down Hennessy towards Central direction. Tear gas deployed at same time. Many arrests, citizens violently subdued, press pushed away. Charging faster than citizens could escape cos' too many citizens.
1758: Mong Kok. Hermit summarises the happenings so far - Dozen or so rounds of beanbag/rubber rounds fired. Tear gas. Raptor charge.
1800: MTR - Tsuen Wan line closed.
1805: Causeway Bay. Small bonfire burning in middle of Hennessy in front of SOGO. No police nor protesting citizens in sight.
1811: Causeway Bay. Water cannon truck at SOGO.
1813: HK Island. A few police vans chased after a crowd and citizens ran, eventually slowed down in front of Victoria Park. Vans turned on Sugar St instead of following them.
1819: Causeway Bay. Around 1000-2000 protesting citizens still around. Some time ago: Causeway Bay. After police clearance, regular people started some chanting. They weren't even in black or in gear. Not the protesting type. Police raised black flag and fired tear gas.
Unknown time: Shek Kip Mei. Riot police beat up a youth for unkniwn reasons.
1823: Olympian City shopping mall closing. Bulk of protesting citizens pulling towards Mong Kok to link up with other half of the march. Periodic barricade building along the way.
1824: MTR - Kwun Tong line closed.
1830: Tin Hau. Crowds there mostly disappeared, only about a couple hundred left.
1840: Tin Hau. Some barricades being built, but seems like action there will fizzle out.
1843: MTR - Tseung Kwan O line closed. Only 45 of 93 stations opened on 6 Oct, all trains to end at 9pm.
1906: HK Island. Paramedics arrive at Central Rd and Hennsssy Rd, some arrested citizens loaded onto stretchers. Some allegedly had hands tied to back for 20mins before ambulances arrived.
1910: Causeway Bay. Tear gas. MTR - West Rail closed.
1912: Tsim Sha Tsui. Tear gas at police stn.
1926: Mong Kok. Tear gas at Argyle St after some citizens confronted police.
1932-1945: Kowloon Tong. Several arrested. Floodlights from PLA Chinese army barracks as protesting citizens march past. PLA raises yellow warning that they may be prosecuted. They do not seem to know that PLA has no authority to do that in HK. HK riot police have been spotted inside. So now HK police force openly work with Chinese army?
1938: Mong Kok. Tear gas. Police charge, ppl fall back, police left, ppl back again.
1955: Lok Fu. Tear gas.
1955: Mong Kok. Still significant amount of ppl.

March 26th, 2017 // 9:48am EST
STN. You hear about it as a newbie. You can expect and imagine so much, and you can be psyched, but it's so hard to imagine that reality of blood-pumping competition until you're actually there.  To all of my newbies... I know you're so excited, and please keep it that way, but I wanted to let you know that you have no idea what you're in for.
To all of my oldbies, give this your all. We all have so much to learn, we will always have things we can learn.  Be there for your newbies, because after this, they won't really be newbies anymore. We work as a team, not individually. We all help eachother... and learn from your newbies too.
I have never been to California (not even out of the EST timezone), but to me I feel like I'm just waiting for the experience rather than the location.  We are currently on the flight to Anaheim, California for nationals, and I have so many thoughts darting through my head: what homework I'm gonna finish on this plane, what music I'm gonna use for Convention Recap, non CTV related personal stuff, when/how I'm gonna edit this documentary and how great I wanna make it, how many awards we're going to win, what emotions everybody is going to experience, etc.  I sit here on this plane in between Lian (Miss President), and Casey (Miss Secretary) and I am so excited.
When I say that I'm excited, I'm excited for everything.  I'm excited to make my alumni proud, I'm excited to compete individually with the genius Jason Chua, I'm excited to compete as a team and see what a great show we can produce somewhere so out of our element, and whether we win or lose I'm excited for this experience.
For me, this convention is about creation, passion, and a love for storytelling through beautiful camera shots... and thats what I love, I love creating.  I am a creator, and thats what we can all be: creators.
Sooner or later, we're going to land in Anaheim, and today (Sunday) and tomorrow (Monday) we're gonna do some pretty fun tourist-y stuff but do NOT let your guard down because competition will slap you right in the face and wake you the h*ck up.
On the behalf of my presidents and I: we will not let you down.
Now let's go win that #1 award.
//
Lexi Delgado, Vice President.

Note
Idk if this has been established in canon, but what’s the age difference between Kara and Lena in STN?
They’re about the same age in STN. I don’t think I ever really say their ages apart from vague references to their career timelines. It’s somewhere in my notes, but I haven’t had enough coffee yet to go hunting for the answer I’m SORRY.
