Another first day of CCD #DONE. Got to meet the new students entrusted to my care and I am excited for this new adventure. Today's exit ticket: Watch two Life Teen videos and answer two accompanying prompts: 1. In what ways do you consider yourself "broken?" 2. Hope is... Closing Prayer: gather students around the sanctuary, place their exit tickets on the altar, and offer their broken and yet hopeful selves to God as we hold each other's hands in prayer. These kids are young, broken, and yet... they are hopeful. And that's a wrap for the St. Jude Parish 2019 Summer Youth Program! So many people to be grateful for, -to them we say THANK YOU! But above all, our praises and thanksgiving goes out to God for being the guiding hand these past few weeks, more so today as we went to every parish church to know about its history, pray the Stations of the Cross, and venerate their sacred relics. These amazing youth are inquisitive troopers who got to learn about their faith, and their local church in such a deep and meaningful way. These past few weeks have been busy to say the least. But at this morning's Mass, I reflected on the many reasons I am profoundly grateful: The gift of life, family and friends (and tequila shots lol just kidding😂😂). But really though, I am incredibly overwhelmed and humbled by the amount of support and outpour of congratulations I've been receiving these past few days. Like I said, the Teacher Aide of the Year I have received is not just an award that is for the taking, but my students' as well. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!💛🧡 • With the approaching holidays in mind, let's not forget the true REASON for the season. Please join us at St. Jude Parish as we commemorate the mysteries of Christ's birth. Tomorrow, December 24 we will celebrate the last day of Aguinaldo Masses, followed by food and fellowship at 5:30AM. The Christmas Celebration officially begins at 5:00PM with a Children's Vigil Mass; and at 8:00PM we will celebrate the Solemn Mass of the Lord's Nativity. Finally, on Tuesday, December 25th, we will have two Masses: 8:00AM and 10:30AM. Today's Topic: "Linking the Saints of Today to the Saints for Tomorrow." In light of All Saint's Day, I went in-depth with our Pre-Con and Confirmation students on the practice of venerating the relics of Christ and the saints. I would like to thank Mount Carmel Cathedral, San Vicente Parish, and San Antonio Parish for lending me these beautiful and holy treasures. To the St. Jude Parish Confirmation Class of 2019: The outpour of messages you've been sending, thanking Tiava and I for the two years you have spent with us is humbling and overwhelming. Here's my response: Tiava and I? We're not perfect teachers and ministers, but we try. We're not role models at best, but we try. We're not saints, but we try. As I scan through the photos captured today from your Confirmation Mass, and despite having one of the longest days I've had thus far this year, I am filled with so much gratitude and peace in knowing that the Church is alive because each and everyone of you are doing exactly what Tiava and I are doing: YOU TRY. You see, you don't have to be perfect, and most certainly, you don't have to be a saint to change the world. The Lord continues to send forth his spirit to renew the face of the earth through you -all 22 of you. Your mission? It's simple. Bring Jesus to those who are seeking and are saying, "We would like to see Jesus." Doing so, you bring the message of Gods love and hope from the pews where you sit, beyond the parish doors, out there to a community in need. Thank you for making me a better person, a better teacher, a better catechist. Hope to see you next Sunday!
