I'm sooo bored at work but having ideas beyond my energy and time so. Ghiralink AU loosely based on Orpheus/Eurydice
Link literally plays a lyre so. Orpheus
Ghirahim as Eurydice but instead of being dead he's left without a master and acts more like Fi at the beginning of the game, emotionless and blank. He's Hylia's sword before Demise's but betrays her or Demise steals him. Post game Link wants to bring him back to the light side or whatever
Demise and Hylia as concepts/spirits/disembodied entities (??) Would exist in a plane of existence of their own that's like the Underworld but not quite since they're deities that can't "die". Maybe connected to the Master Sword.
This makes them Hades and Persephone. they're divorced even though they were never married. It's funnier this way
The Hylia part of Zelda's soul separated from her when Demise was sealed in the Master Sword and that part now exists like how there's gods for rivers and mountains and cities and they're a god but also the land itself . She's like that for the Surface/future Hyrule
Part of how Hylia keeps Demise sealed is by being trapped inside the Master Sword with him which would give Hyrule seasons
Also Hylia as Persephone (as opposed to like. Fi who is already in the sword) is good because Persephone was seen as the cruel one out of the two. She opposes Link trying to get Ghirahim back because he had a chance and betrayed her
Fi serves as the spirit of the River Lethe because I want her to. The Master Sword acts as reverse invulnerability: it's the Achilles heel of the incarnation of Demise's hatred and the only thing that can seal the darkness
This has nothing to do with ghiralink I just like Greek mythology
Link makes a deal with Demise & Hylia to bring him back, has to guide him out of somewhere (like Skyview Temple maybe) by only playing the goddess harp to remind him of 1. When he was Hylia's sword and 2. Trying to resurrect Demise by chasing down Zelda. He can't look back to see if Ghirahim is following and he doesn't actually see Ghirahim, just his sword, so he doesn't even know if the spirit inside is listening
Idk how it ends. It doesn't have to be 1:1 mythology but I think ending with him looking back would be less tragic than the original myth? Because Ghirahim was never his to begin with to he's not really losing anything
