I'm Here gave me so much brainrot for Sonic helping Spinbot out of being subservient to Lord Robotnik. secondary personalities are usually born out of a traumatic event, and meant to protect the host from that trauma. In Spinbot's case, the personality that was born out of trauma... was the "real" Sonic, even though technically Spinbot is the "real" one. It's complicated, but they are BOTH HIM. and while Sonic has every right to be pissed at Spinbot for all the pain he's brought, it's just not Sonic's M.O. to give up on somebody who was made this way. He's gonna give him the means to fight back and be his own person. Together.

"Be his own person" well, he's always gonna be Sonic now. They're gonna share that body and they're gonna try to fix the world without running from the past. Which leads to that post-endgame design, seen above.

Spinbot will never be a "good guy". He doesn't care about the world. His personality was personally edited by Lord Robotnik to bring out the worst, most selfish aspects of Sonic, and inhibit all the compassion, love and hope. And yet.... With the inhibitors destroyed, it allowed this other Sonic, this "true" personality to be free, without erasing the other one. Two vastly different Sonics in one body. Spinbot doesn't care about the world, but... he does care about Sonic. He's always very VERY obnoxiously loved himself, and now there's a more tangible part of that. He's the more capable fighter, while Sonic is the diplomat. It's not to say that Sonic can't fight, but they need to work in tandem with each other.

It would have been too easy to erase Spinbot. To punish him for everything he did while under Eggman's control. And at first, Sonic hated him-- but he came to understand that Spinbot was just as much of a slave to Eggman as any other robot. Maybe the most. If Spinbot were born evil and full of hatred, then why would Eggman need to inhibit his compassion? He told Spinbot that his AI was made from a copy of Sonic's brain scan, but in actuality, Eggman only edited Sonic's brain. Spinbot IS Sonic.

And once the inhibitors started to show signs of wearing down, due to EMP blasts, his brain created a new personality, a ghost of his former self. That Hero was still in there. In Sonic's mind, hating Spinbot would have been a victory for Eggman. So instead... he'd take responsibility for what was done with his body. And he would take Spinbot on as well, keep him around. They don't always get along, but they do look out for each other.

Spinbot may not see much point in any of it, but he can't help but be somewhat inspired that Sonic went through all of that effort to keep him around. Spinbot may not be able to feel compassion as strongly anymore, but there is a desire to protect that light.
