INTRODUCING MY NEW BLOG SERIES CALLED "STEVIE & ME" where I will recap the amazing concert and 24 Karat Gold Tour that took me a lifetime to get to. I will share a story about how my childhood idol became such because of an amazing story my dad told me when I was just 10 as well as other family stories of how a hard life of showbiz that brought Stevie's music into my life, quite literally. And how I've waited 30 years to finally see her perform live. ✅Bucket List Check! Stevie Nicks is truly my Spirit Animal... my family's spirit animal. And I think this will be one of my "true life" stories you won't want to miss! So please join me on this journey I am about to unfold of how Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac changed my life. I will recap the live Moda Center show with The Pretenders as I share the stories she shared on stage, and my own stories of my family's experience with Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac that often paralleled her own journey, culminating in the most amazing experience for me of finally being able to see her live after hearing stories of her my whole life. It's my newest blog short series and throughout it, I will be sharing all the live concert footage and pics from the show. So tune in each day to see which song I will post next from the Moda center and the colorful stories both Stevie and I have of that song. This is a series for the true Stevie Nicks fan... for the true Fleetwood Mac fan... for the true rock n'roll fan... and most importantly, for those who weren't able to be there, because I have known that feeling my entire life (& btw I hope the lady who collapsed before the show began is recovering ok and I felt so bad she missed the show as she was as excited as I was to be there. This is dedicated to her, all of the footage and pics of the show I share. I don't know her name or where she's from but I hope she's out there in cyberspace somewhere looking for Moda Center concert footage so she can at least see the show she missed). So live vicariously through me as we take this journey together... it's gonna be a wild and beautiful ride! I have footage that I can honestly say not many fans might have of certain song performances, stories, and amazing tidbits. The quality is decent (maybe not perfect, but not too shabby! Lol), the stories are real, and the memories last a lifetime. Tune in for posts of "Stevie & Me" on this blog to get more concert footage each day I will post! *This is the shawl I wore and have had my whole life. It's a peacock beaded shawl, one that Stevie herself would love, my mother gave me long ago. We both have a love for birds, so that is the first official "Stevie & Me" parallel. But by no means the only one in this story. I wore it to the show, and got this necklace at the merch stand, to go with it. So I'm making it my new icon for a while. True fans will relate. Stevie & Me #3: The Pretenders Were Also Important to My Childhood (Back On The Chain Gang Live Footage from the Moda show!) So I figured I should start this story at the very beginning. So this one is going to be about The Pretenders who opened for Stevie Nicks. My mother decided to take me to the Stevie Nicks + The Pretenders concert for my birthday, because I have dreamt of seeing them ever since a story my dad told me at the age of 10. I grew up with this music, and one of my family members was a professional musician during this era and prior. I grew up hearing stories about performing with these bands, seeing their shows back in the day, and listening to them on family road trip vacations to the reservation in the summer. So it's been kind of a lifelong dream to be able to see them. When I heard The Pretenders were opening for Stevie, I was stoked. I grew up learning these songs in my musical family. I remember singing Back On The Chain Gang with my mother on family trips to pass the time on the road. There were certain bands that were a staple in my family, and this was one of them. So I felt it was fitting, starting at the beginning, to share this, my favorite song by The Pretenders to open my new blog series called "Stevie & Me!" Here is the live performance of Back On The Chain Gang. We sang along. It was neat to finally hear the song in person on stage. There were a couple of little mess ups but it was their first show on this new leg of the tour, so no big. My mom said Chrissy Hynde looked gorgeous and her vocals were still strong and beautiful. I had a great time singing along. I've always really loved the original sounding melody for this song. It's one that gets stuck in your head, and kind of has that dark thought-provoking feel about it that makes you can't help but hum along. Chrissy also gave a shout out to all the amazing restaurants in the town, especially the vegetarian ones. I happen to agree! Trying some of the restaurants while here was pretty cool. We ate at Petite Province on Mardi Gras which was kind of cool, as its a quaint little French style restaurant that feels like you're on Bourbon Street. Their salmon was amazing, as was their deserts. I highly recommend the Versailles and The Opera, both chocolate cakes I wanted more of to take home. So I have to give a special shout out to this restaurant for making my night! Our waitress happened to be a huge Stevie Nicks fan too, and gave me a free cake with a candle for my bday. Awe! 😋🎂🍩 And their Hurricanes were bomb. I hope you enjoy it! More video footage of the show to come each day.
