There was a scream from the kitchen that startled Stiles awake and his hand went to his head. He blinked several times and the shriek came again, but he recognized it as Elijah and the growl that followed as Derek.
Stiles rested back against the couch again, sighing and pulling a pillow under his head. The childish giggles and playful growls from the other room calmed him and settled his soul. He’d been extremely exhausted lately, but Derek taking Elijah so he could get in some naps always seemed to help him feel a little better. He always forgot how much pregnancy took a toll on his body, but he wouldn't trade baby Ava for the world. He already loved her so much and she was due any day now.
It didn't take long for the sounds to drift into the living room and Elijah shouted, “The floor is lava!”
Sometimes that kid had the wildest imagination. Stiles, of course, was not touching the floor and he for sure couldn't jump from place to place to play the floor is lava.
He smiled at them and chuckled, pulling the throw blanket over him more. “Well, kiddo, I’m already off the floor so I won't burn to death. The lava won't get me, I promise.”
Elijah effortlessly jumped onto an end table and then Derek came into the room by leaping from the kitchen and onto their couch. He gave a playful growl and Stiles shook his head, but he was smiling.
“Please don't break the furniture because I don't want to have more delivered.” Of course, he was teasing them and while it would suck having broken furniture, he knew that Derek would get it replaced quickly.
“We won't, Daddy! We promise!” Elijah shouted.
“You have five minutes to reach the safe zone,” Derek told Elijah, his face sporting his beta shift with his fluffy cheek fur that Stiles always found amusing. And the fact that for some reason, Derek didn't have eyebrows when he shifted.
He once asked Derek where his eyebrows went when he shifted and they’d both laughed for hours because Derek didn't have an answer and had no idea why he lost his eyebrows when he shifted, unlike his betas. It had nothing to do with being an Alpha because Derek shared that Laura had eyebrows when they shifted as kids.
“Noooooo!” Elijah shrieked. “You can't catch me! You’re a big slow wolf and I’m a fast small wolf!”
Derek growled at Elijah and flashed his eyes at him, which caused Elijah to yelp and giggle, jumping onto another table and making his way back toward the kitchen, which was apparently their safe zone.
“You two are a mess.” Stiles grinned up at Derek when he walked over to him on all fours and crouched on the end table near the couch as he leaned down to give Stiles a soft kiss. Which meant Stiles had to reach up and touch the tufts of fur that sprouted from Derek’s cheeks when he shifted. Like overgrown sideburns, really.
“But you love us,” Derek replied with a soft laugh.
“I love you both so much.” He kissed Derek again and snorted as he looked past him. “Elijah’s escaping to the safe zone. You’re getting old. I thought werewolves were supposed to age slower.”
That made Derek throw his head back and laugh and Stiles always loved when he got a full-bellied laugh from Derek.
“So you don't like my graying hair?” Derek asked, reaching a hand up to touch his beard.
“Oh, no, it’s so hot. Which is one of the many reasons why I’m pregnant right now.” Stiles laughed. “Now go catch our son before I get enough energy to get up and drag you off to bed instead.”
Derek laughed again and shook his head, kissing the top of Stiles’ head. “Later,” he promised, then darted off, jumping from one piece of furniture to the next, on his way to catch Elijah before he made it to the safe zone.
Stiles smiled as he watched them, his hand moving down to rub over his belly as Ava shifted and rolled, reminding him that she was there too.
He loved them all so damn much and Stiles was thankful he never had to find out what living without them was like.
His beautiful family of three would soon be four. Stiles smiled again as happy giggles and playful shouts came from the kitchen.
It sounded like Elijah beat Derek to the safe zone, which was one more thing Stiles had to tease Derek about later when they went to bed. Warmth and happiness filled Stiles’ chest as he snuggled into the couch and drifted back off to sleep.

I wrote a little fic for sterekweekly. The prompt was 'imagine'
Just to be with Stiles once! Maybe that's enough to erase that longing.
"That can be arranged," a bright voice says behind him.
Derek jumps from the bed, immediately beta-shifting and snarling at the intruder.
The woman who is standing - no wait, she's floating, she's truly floating two inches above the floor - in the doorframe looks completely unfazed. In fact, she's even smiling.
"Who are you? How did you get in here?" Derek grits out through his fangs, adding an unspoken 'and why didn't I notice you'?
"Calm down, wolf. I won‘t harm you or your mate."
Only then Derek notices the little glimmer that's surrounding her, the flawless skin she has, and how her blonde hair is softly swaying as if she was underwater. In combination with the floating-
"You're a fairy," he says and wills his body to shift back.
"Personally, I prefer the term 'fae', Alpha Hale, but you're not wrong," the creature chirps happily. "And I shall grant your wish."

Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski Characters: Stiles Stilinski, Derek Hale, Original Hale-Stilinski Child(ren) Additional Tags: POV Stiles Stilinski, Childhood Friends, Friends to Lovers, Reminiscing, Fluff, mention of MPREG, Sequel Summary:
…the one where Stiles reminisces about his life with Derek.
As Stiles stepped into the house, he huffed a breath at the loud squeals of laughter coming from the living room. It instantly brought a smile to his face after a long day at work.
Instead of calling out that he was home, he kicked off his shoes and set his briefcase down in the mudroom before walking toward all the noise. He smiled as he passed the rows of family pictures lining the hallway, and then he was in the entryway to the living room. He suppressed a chuckle as Eli and Ellie hopped from couch to couch before sliding onto the coffee table and back again. Around and around they went, giggling, before they tipped their heads to the sides, nostrils flaring as if they'd finally caught his fresh scent.
Even though they were twins, it still freaked Stiles out how in sync they were at times.
"Papa!" they yelled simultaneously at that perfect decibel only five-year-olds seemed to have. The kind that made his left eye twitch even as he laughed.
Eli was the first to clamber onto the back of the couch, balancing on the cushion as he attempted to reach out for him, but Stiles was just a little too far.
"Where's Dad?" Stiles asked, surprised that Derek wasn't in the room. He wasn't a helicopter parent per se, but he definitely hovered at times.
Ellie scrambled to the couch next to Eli, her hair in perfect pigtails, and they giggled again, both pointing toward the kitchen. Stiles had to step into the living room a little further before seeing what they were pointing at.
A sort of half-snort–half-scoff flew out of Stiles's mouth before he could stop it.
There was his husband, crouching on the counter, a sheepish smile on his ridiculously handsome face.
Stiles somehow managed to bite back a grin as he crossed his arms over his chest, looking at Derek with what he hoped was a stern expression on his face. "And just what—pray tell—is going on here?"
"Uh…" The tips of Derek's ears turned pink, the way they always did when he was embarrassed. "The floor is lava?"
Stiles couldn't hold back his laughter anymore. God, he loved this man. As he watched Derek, all Stiles could think was that this was another moment he needed to save. Another favorite memory to look back on as he got older—all of which had been moments with Derek and their relationship.
His thoughts strayed to when his family had first moved to Beacon Hills. Everything was so big and scary. It was overwhelming to his four-year-old mind. As the movers hauled everything into their new house, he'd stayed tucked into his mom's side in the front yard.
Until he saw the little boy playing next door. Something about him drew Stiles closer closer closer despite being scared. Seven-year-old Derek Hale became his best friend that day, smiling up at him where he was playing with his Tonka truck and Hot Wheels.
'He's gonna be my bestest friend forever,' he told his parents when they tucked him into bed that night.
And he was. Derek was his best friend. They'd spent nearly all their time together. Stiles would eagerly wait for Derek to get done with school, toys at the ready as he sat on his front lawn in the afternoons. As soon as Derek turned the corner down the street, Stiles would jump up, practically vibrating with the need to rush to him. He'd throw himself at Derek, who would catch him easily and carry him around.
If anyone tried to tell Derek to put him down, he'd glare at them. Stiles would poke him between the brows and giggle, then rub their cheeks together. It always seemed to calm Derek down.
Stiles thought about their many sleepovers and how he'd curl up against Derek, eyes closed as Derek read to him.
He thought about running through the preserve, his laughter ringing through the trees as Derek chased him.
'We're gonna get married one day,' Derek had told him after catching him one day, and Stiles could only nod. He might have only been seven then, but he knew what love was. He saw it in the way his parents looked at each other, like they were their whole worlds. And that was what Derek was to him. His whole world.
No one was surprised when they finally started dating in high school. Okay, Stiles might have been a little surprised when they played truth or dare at one of Lydia Martin’s epic parties. When it was Derek’s turn, Erica had dared him to kiss Stiles. Stiles was sure his face was as red as a tomato, and he hated how his voice wavered when he told Derek that he didn't have to because Stiles had wanted it so bad. Derek had never given any indication that he thought of Stiles as more than his best friend.
So it was a surprise when Derek said, 'But what if I want to?'
And then Derek kissed him and kissed him some more.
It had been Stiles's first kiss. And then his first everything in all its exhilaration and excitement as their relationship progressed.
They weren't supposed to have sleepovers anymore, but no one was surprised when Derek would still sneak in through Stiles' bedroom window and crawl into bed beside him. Or when Stiles would fall asleep on Derek's bed after a late-night study session and Derek would refuse to wake him up so he could leave.
Especially since Derek would be off to college soon, and their time together would be limited in a way they hadn't had to experience before.
It had been so hard.
Stiles thought about how his heart ached whenever Derek had to leave again.
He thought about the one year they spent together when he finally graduated high school and got into the same school as Derek.
And then he thought about the three years when Derek was the one in Beacon Hills while he was off at school and how much it hurt every time he had to leave again.
But then he smiled, remembering his last year at school.
Stiles had decided to surprise Derek and come home for the weekend. He’d snuck into the loft while Derek was still at work and crawled into Derek's bed. He’d only meant to close his eyes for a second, but he must have been more tired than he realized because Derek was smiling down at him when he opened them again.
He reached up with his left hand, cupping Derek's face. For a split second, he was confused by the matte black band embedded with six sparkling diamonds adorning his ring finger. But then Derek nuzzled into his palm and whispered, 'Marry me.'
Stiles had sucked in a breath, wrapping his other hand around the back of Derek's neck and pulling him in for a simple, closed-mouth kiss. Tears stung his eyes as he breathed Derek in.
'Yes,' he'd said, voice breaking. He'd always joked about wanting some lavish, over-the-top production with Bruno Mars playing in the background while a flash mob danced around them. But of course, Derek would know him better than that.
That Stiles would want something like this, more intimate and spontaneous.
And it was perfect. As perfect as the night they said, 'I do,' with the stars twinkling above them in the preserve, surrounded by their friends and family. It had been like a fairytale, dancing under the moonlight with Ed Sheeran playing their song.
As perfect as the day they found out Stiles was pregnant. With twins.
As perfect as the day Stiles went into labor and gave birth.
As perfect as holding Eli and Ellie for the first time.
And now here they were, and Stiles couldn't imagine his heart getting any fuller as he shook his head at Derek, who hopped off the counter and rushed over to him.
"The floor is lava!" Derek exclaimed like a battle charge, lifting Stiles up and carrying him to the couch. "I must protect you!"
Stiles laughed, his heart squeezing as he clung to Derek, arms and legs going around him.
Eli and Ellie jumped on the couch, chanting, "Protect papa! Protect papa!"
Derek grinned, and fucking hell, Stiles was crazy for that smile of his. For the way his eyes lit up as they crinkled in the corners. For his dimples and those damn bunny teeth.
"Argh! No! The lava!" Derek cried out, his steps faltering as he feigned injury.
Stiles snorted, resting his head against Derek's shoulder before sighing in contentment. The kids giggled and yelled, and Stiles smiled as they continued their game.
It was moments like this that made him so grateful for Derek and their life together, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
