Weirdly specific questions: 8, 16, and 19.
8. do you change into specific clothes for the house when you get home?
no, not unless I'm immediately laying down. like, in bed. if I'm just crumpling into the arm of the sofa I usually don't change first, but that's because it's not intentional. Usually after work I get home, eat, and then shower so it's not like there's a lot of time before I change clothes anyway
16. thoughts on mint chocolate chip?
eh, I don't love it. I've learned to like chocolate and mint together somewhat over the years, but it has to be mostly chocolate with just a touch of mint, not the other way around.
19. the veggie you dislike the most?

Personal shit meme: Multiples of 7 (pick one or do them all if you like.)
7. Best Friends?
I’mma have to say @true0neutral and @fauxfire76, if we’re talking absolute best here (and really, whoever made this meme, thanks for the plural). They’re the people who, if I don’t talk to them in some way at some point in any given day, it just feels wrong. All of my friends, no matter what, are a really important part of my life and I wouldn’t be without them, but ... hey, those are my guys, y’know?
14. Birthday?
Funny you should ask. That would be 10 February. Yes, Friday. I’m turning 40.
21. Kiss or hug?
Usually neither. I’m not the touchy-feely type. Whether I would hug or kiss you is honestly a case-by-case thing, dependent not only on circumstance and personal mood but who the person is. But on average between one or the other, hugs.
28. Ever dated someone?
Oh yes. Yes, I have. Some were good. Some were bad enough to qualify as violations of the Geneva Convention.
35. Do you wish you could ever start over?
Sometimes, but only until I realise that if I did, there are a lot of things I wouldn’t have done, and some people I wouldn’t have met whose absence from my life wouldn’t be worth what I might gain. Besides, I wouldn’t be me if I started over. I like me. It took a long time to get here and I’m sure as shit not shortcutting now.
42. Are you okay?
Depending what you mean ... probably not, to be honest. My mental health isn’t great. I have chronic problems that I feel like I constantly have to downplay or hide. I get stressed and it does me damage. But I have a roof over my head, food on the table, the bills are paid and I have some of the best friends in the known universe for when it gets to be a bit too much. I’m maybe not okay by the standard definitions, but I’m okay enough for me.

stellarvoyage replied to your post: So my job is ending as of the end of March. I work...
I’ll keep my fingers crossed you will find something that allows you to stay in Port Angeles. Or find a good place with a reasonable rent in Seattle.
Thank you!
Sadly, “reasonable rent” and “Seattle” don’t go hand in hand these days.  I’m either going to be about doubling my living expenses if I move back, or downsizing to a one-bedroom place, which leaves me without a home office (and with about 1.5 times my current living expenses).
I’ve been half-expecting this and preparing, so I’ll be fine--it’s just frustrating.

10 Things About Me
The awesome @lazuliblade tagged me so let’s get to it! :)
I’ve always loved to write and create stories, even though it gives me really bad anxiety sometimes! A few of my earliest memories are of writing stories in spiral-bound notebooks I then hid from everyone, ha ha!
My seven year old daughter also enjoys to write and make up stories, so when I did NaNoWriMo this past year (and I won!) she did the YWP.
I won my first NaNoWriMo last year. In fact, I won both Camp NaNoWriMo events I did, as well, with word counts of 10,000 and 5,000 words respectively. I didn’t know if I could complete 50,000 words in a month with two kids to contend with (and to be fair my house looked awful but I managed it!
I also used to dabble in drawing, though I’ve fallen off that wagon in favor of focusing on my writing. (Which is good because I’m currently slogging my way through a full YOI series remix fan fiction, and not even two chapters in it’s already over 15,000 words long.)
I played the saxophone for eight years, though I stopped when I graduated from high school. However, I still own the tenor sax. His name is Trevor and he lives in my basement. I’ve been considering getting him tuned up and killing my family with how awful I’d be after 12 and a half years!
I have never actually left the continental United States of America. This is despite having lived in only two states, both of which border other countries. (I was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and now live near Detroit, Michigan.)
I have always loved watching winter sports (even though winter is terrible and evil), and recently have rekindled a love for figure skating (shut up, we all know why). At 31 I am too old to pick up the sport myself, but my daughter has watched videos with me and is now taking Learn to Skate USA lessons. I plan to take the adult Learn to Skate class myself once I’m fully recovered from my gallbladder removal from last year.
I love pasta more than anyone probably really should. Almost any kind of pasta is good. Put it in front of me and I’ll eat it. (I should make pasta soon.)
I love to cook! I decided to learn when my father presented me with a plate of macaroni and cheese and ham on Thanksgiving Day when I was in high school, so my first real cooking caper was a full Thanksgiving feast my senior year of high school. Half of it was cold, but it tasted good anyway (and that’s what microwaves are for).
I absolutely love singing, and you can frequently catch me blasting music and singing along. I will freely admit that I love boy bands more than I probably should (I own every single ‘N Sync album) and that has translated far too well into idol anime. Whoops.
As for who I’d like to do this... idk, @etonia, @soiscrewedmycompanions, @lywinis, @aquabreeze, @stellarvoyage, @kamibanani... and anyone else. And if I tagged you, don’t feel pressured. I promise I won’t check up on you. ;)

Weird asks: 78?
78. coffee from a gas station or sushi from a grocery store?
Okay so I’ve done both but given a choice, coffee from a gas station because 1) Wawa exists and 2) if you’re doing a cross-country drive you have so many options and some of them are sludge and some of them are actually good, but grocery sushi at best is eh inoffensive and I live in a place where I can get good to very good sushi at the same price or make goodish for cheaper so my choice is clear. (also I’m a vegetarian, so my grocery sushi options tend to be inari or really shitty vegetable rolls often on brown rice).

I have a three-in-one for you! Origins Cullen, DA2 Cullen and Inquisition Cullen. For me they rank pretty differently on the hottie scale, but I'm curious about your thoughts.
Scale:
Not My Type | Alright | Cute | Adorable | Pretty | Gorgeous | LORD MERCY
Oooooo, that’s a very good question!
They rank very differently for me too, and it’s further complicated by @aithne’s Warden Cullen in Old Roads.
Soooo, if we’re talking just straight-up character design, it looks like this:
Origins Cullen - Adorable
DA2 Cullen - Cute (sorry, babe, you took a hit with that bleach-blond hair thing going on)
Inquisition Cullen: DEAR MAKER (or on this scale LORD MERCY) SOMEONE HIT YOU WITH THE HOT STICK. That ruff, and the scar on his lip (THE SCAR), and clearly Leliana helped him out with his hair.
Buuuuuutttt....DA 2 is where I actually fell in love with the character. As much of a mess as he was, he was interesting and he was fighting to recover in the background.
Inquisition Cullen ended up being really similar to my headcanon of where the character was going and my RP version of him, so he definitely ranks at the top of the hotness scale both in terms of design and personality.
And I mean, look at that little smirk...

Thess vs Characters
Name ten favorite characters from ten different things (books, tv, film, etc.), then tag ten people.
Thanks to @stellarvoyage for tagging me on this one. It’s been awhile since I had a good meme.
Nancy Whitman (The Wayward Children series, @seananmcguire) Now, keep in mind that this was a Sophie’s Choice scenario, as Cora (no last name given yet) and Jack Woolcott hold special places in my heart, but when it comes down to it, I have to give it to the first asexual POV character I’ve ever read. Besides, she’s what I like to call a swan-person (actually even has the colour scheme, but that’s not why) - she’s all calm and elegance and coping on the surface, but underneath where no one can see ... frantic flailing.
Garrus Vakarian (Mass Effect 1-3) This was another very, very difficult one, but at the end of the day, he’s the best friend and boyfriend I could imagine having, and from a technical standpoint, he does what a companion should - gives the player the chance not only to react as Shepard would but to feel Shepard as a part of the crew’s lives, a part of the crew, not just “The All-Important Player Character”.
Percival Fredrickstein von Mussel Klossoski de Rolo III (Critical Role campaign 1 and yes I did that from memory) It’s no wonder I have a comprehensive ace-crush on the man who created Percy. I think a lot of us know what it is to struggle with inner darkness, to have to cope every day with rage and pain we can’t let go of because at one point it was all we had. Watching Taliesin portray that struggle was a joy. Watching him allow Percy to win it was everything.
Shuri (MCU) I have a thing for cheerful impatient geniuses who stop before they cross the Manic Pixie Dream Girl Event Horizon. Shuri was everything I could ever have asked for in a Girl Genius trope. The sense of humour did not hurt.
Sophronia Angelina Temminnick (Finishing School series, Gail Carriger) Gail Carriger buddies, @stellarvoyage! More of a YA romp than anything else, but Sophronia was probably one of the smartest steampunk leading ladies I’ve seen in awhile ... and in fact one of the smartest leading ladies I’ve seen in awhile in general. I like it when the women of the piece can go, “Look, it’s flattering that you’re sweet on me and everything but how about waiting until I’ve figured out what I want - oh, and until I’ve saved the Empire? That’s important as well!”
Samuel Vimes (of the Ankh-Mopork Watch, Terry Pratchett) We had the same problem, @stellarvoyage - the “I love both these characters and must pick one”. So for you, I picked the one you didn’t. Also, I love Sam Vimes, and loved him even more after I finished Thud!, between his relationship with Young Sam and the Guarding Dark. AND I AM FUCKING TERRIFIED OF WHAT THEY’RE GOING TO DO WITH HIM IN THIS ABOMINATION OF A TV ADAPTATION.
Umar / Dionysus (The Wicked and the Divine, @kierongillen) Yes, I picked another ace character, so sue me. The fact that he’s a man and he’s black helped - the way black people are sexualised and how it’s always assumed that a man wants sex all the time, it’s rare, and it was well done. Also, I loved Umar’s almost brutal optimism. All of the gods had their own form of self-aggrandisement; his was his selflessness, though he wouldn’t have agreed that it was self-aggrandisement at all. Maybe he didn’t save the whole world by himself, like he thought was his job, but he did a lot right, and lived by a code I like to try to live by - to provide people with a little happiness that they can remember later.
Cassian Andor (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) There were a lot of characters I could have picked, from that movie and from the Star Wars universe in general. But Cassian ... it was his motivations that set him apart for me. He battled his conscience every day, never sure if what he was doing was truly the right thing ... until that last. He was smart and savvy and he did what he had to do, and every time I watch / read that story, I’m just glad his last mission was the one it was.
Eliot Spencer (Leverage) This one was a really hard one, because I love all of the Leverage crew, and the OT3 especially, but ... like with Cassian, I have a thing about characters who have had to do terrible things for one reason or another and decide that ... bad things are not the way. Also ... Eliot’s a man who streamlined himself, calling zero attention to his vast array of talents, and as a result became a man who’s a constant delightful surprise. Also his fierce loyalty - I’m a sucker for the fiercely loyal.
Varric Tethras (Dragon Age) The last one is always the hardest, and picking a favourite Dragon Age character is a bear. However, for me, it has to be Varric; kind, clever, sneaky, generous Varric who’s always there no matter how high the stakes get, even when he knows he’s punching way out of his weight class. Sometimes I wish I could romance him; most times, I’m just happy he calls my characters ‘friend’.

Welp!
Tumblr media
@stellarvoyage , the drive is doable in three days, but I’m doing it in four, with a half day on the front end and a half day on the back end and a stop in Roswell, New Mexico, just for giggles.
Movers come tomorrow. It's a full-service move, so they're packing me up as well as putting things on a truck. I think I've got everything sorted to make it as easy as possible for them, but it's still so weird not to be packing myself.
Then the day after tomorrow, I leave for Seattle.
Deep breaths. Almost there.
