this post took me way too long to do for no reason. anyways wanted to show off khosi's style including her chef fits and how her style is more about function and comfort (with a little flare of print and color). also had some more edits that i wanted to try from an old lookbook post...

Don't Speak - No Doubt

“Don’t Speak,” is a single from No Doubt’s 1995 album, Tragic Kingdom. Man, this song can really get you in the feels when you hear, especially if you’re amidst a breakup too. The video is interesting and a bit gross in the beginning (literally, right after I just finished eating an apple)! Anyway, in the beginning, Tony Kanal (whose birthday it is today btw) picks rotten fruit from a tree full of worms, which then cuts to the band performing the song. An abruptness from dark to light and soloness to togetherness. Apparently, this video came out around the time when the band was on the cusp of breaking up. So perhaps that contrast is the dichotomy of staying or breaking apart. There are clips of live performances and later in the video, you see photographers taking pictures of Gwen Stefani with the orange that Kanal had picked. Perhaps the band was upset that she was getting all the attention and they were always in the background. In the end, Kanal puts the fruit back on the tree, as they decide the temptation to absolve the group wasn’t worth it and they stayed together. A classic 90’s tune!

I've always gotten strong psychic messages and dreams about Gwen Stefani and her life...it's kind of weird. In the 90s I had a vivid dream of her solo career which was never a thought at the time, it shook my usual insomniatic self to write it down and even now reading it back I'm always like "how did I know and see this?" 😂 😂 😂 so anyway, yeah she is def. Having Blake's babies btw.

Elijah dropped his hand from her, sitting down on the edge again. He was still a bit skeptical of her, but there wasn't anything he could really do. It was hard to go on with the situation, not able to trust her yet knowing she was trusted completely by Corvus. It was a weird situation he wasn't quite mentally prepared to deal with in that moment.

He heaved a sigh. He could understand where she was coming from. Hearing her request reminded him of something he should have thought of himself. Jesse. He didn't leave a note, didn't even say anything to her. She was going to be pissed, he could feel it. He scrunched his nose at the thought as he reached for his phone, " Here. Private service, and a VPN, " he mumbled, holding the phone out to Stefani, " Make your call. "

#TBT PART 1: In the early 2000’s I had a street fashion column in the NY Post with my girl @libbycalaway1970. I would photograph the most stylish women that I could find. The search never stopped, I would go out on the street, to fashion shows, to events, I would hang out in the Lower East Side before it had any stores, pound the pavement in New York’s fashion district chasing people down the street (do you remember me hounding you @samiranasr ?) and document current trends. At the time I was doing this, there were no blogs, no cell phones, no nothing, so seeing these people in this light was very fresh. Fashion week happened at Bryant Park, in the early 2000’s Jay Z, Puff Daddy, LIl Kim, Mary J and Gwen Stefani were kings and queens. Unexpected, he usually didn't pay any mind of care for holidays. But, there was something sort of stabilizing about new years. Letting go of a year's worth of stress to start a new one. Maybe the only public celebrations he will attend. It's easy to brush off people when they're too drunk to argue.

But, he hadn't expected her touch. The sudden kiss was a welcomed surprise, just this once. He flashed a little smile at her and simply nodded, " And to you, as well. "
