hi, I have several theories about Elizabeth's choice for Lucas. The 1st, the producers were afraid that Nathan would become too important by becoming the leading man. Second, they were sure that Nathan's fans would continue to watch the show even if she didn't choose him. Third, they were afraid that fans would compare the love story between E/J and E/N too much.
I think it just came down to them wanting to do something different and maybe John having a plan for what he wanted to do for Nathan moving forward as a single man opposed to Lucas.  Which is fine.  The writing didn’t back it up and that’s the problem.
They shouldn’t be sure of anything.  Nathan fans are pissed.  And based on several polls I’ve seen, they were the majority.

Hi, I don't know why but I think that the series will not go beyond season 9 especially because Brian Bird, Erin Krakow (as executive producer) and John Tinker do not question themselves and persist in saying that the choice of Lucas was obvious. Some of Nathan's fans (myself included) think that they won't give Nathan an important storyline because he would overshadow the leading couple. In any case, if N leaves with Allie and his new love at the end of S9, I won't be watching the show anymore.
They are also confident that the choice of Lucas is going to sustain the show moving forward.  Not sure how that’s possible when the majority of the audience wasn’t interested in the pairing but we’ll see.
I think we all just need to see what is planned and go from there.  Nathan isn’t going anywhere.  That’s already been promised.  What his storyline will be or how much screentime he’ll get isn’t known yet.  They obviously have things planned for the character that they’re excited about.  Hopefully the one takeaway for TPTB from this whole disaster is that they’ll give Nathan more material because that’s clearly what the audience wants.  To hell with Elizabeth.  We want Nathan.

Hi, I could accept Lucas as the endgame, if I thought he and Elizabeth would "grow" each other. What bothers me about their relationship is that Lucas never takes the bull by the horns "as Rosemary says" and doesn't call Elizabeth out on it. He asks Nathan to leave Elizabeth alone instead of asking Elizabeth why she doesn't tell Nathan she doesn't love him. I think they need a frank conversation about their respective feelings. 1/2
What I lack in believing in their love story is deep conversations (conversations she does have with Nathan).2/2 bye
I was kind of thinking about this earlier with that clip.  Lucas is praised for being so patient with her and not pushing her (which, yes, is generally a good thing), but he’s hurting himself in the process.  He’s not getting what he needs and deserves from the woman he’s pursuing something with.  She brushes him off.  She doesn’t tell the whole truth.  She’s always looking at Nathan or somehow involved in his life when she doesn’t necessarily need to be.  Those are all things he’s well within his rights to confront her about so they can have the strong relationship he’s looking for.  She gives him crumbs and expects him to life off of them... and he does.  That’s what bothers me.  He accepts the current reality because he doesn’t want to push Elizabeth away by questioning her which only proves that he doesn’t have any hold on her to begin with or it wouldn’t be a problem.  It’s as simple as that.  Elizabeth has never been invested like Lucas has and it’s a shame it has gone on this long.  It certainly doesn’t make Elizabeth look good and it doesn’t really suit Lucas’ personality either.  He’s a take charge kind of guy when it comes to business but he’s kind of a pushover when it comes to Elizabeth.  That approach hasn’t served him well.

Hi, on thebubblyseshers instagram , there is a great letter written by a fan explaining the anger of WCTH fans. I know it won't change anything but the letter is very well written, bye
Reading it now.  It’s very good.
You can read it here.

Finally, on the TeamNathan twitter, many do not want to continue watching the show. Some fans who had blogs have decided to stop talking about WCTH in them and on Youtube, a fan has emptied her channel of her pro-Nathan videos and another one has indicated that she won't be making any more. I'm sad to see an entire fan community give up and turn away from the show. I don't know what the ratings will be for next season but the producers have done a lot of damage to the fan community, bye
It was a big blow for sure.

hi, I feel like in season 8, Nathan's character was developed more than Lucas'. We learn more about N than L, about his past and his feelings. I can't wait to see the last episode and Elizabeth's choice because I think I will enjoy the season more once it's over. I especially liked the story of Henry and Christopher and the love story between Ned and Florence. bye
Yeah, I think that’s intentional considering what they’re working towards.  They needed the audience to get invested in his story and understand him.  It doesn’t really matter if there’s still so much we don’t know about Lucas because he’s not the focus.  Even when he should’ve been the focus with Elizabeth, it was about Nathan.  I imagine the character will be explored more in season 9 and I’m curious to see what they come up with.
I do hope the audience can look back at the season and appreciate what was done and why.  The why is a big part.  Yes, the triangle was tiring and frustrating but it all had a purpose and it wasn’t really that bad.  There were some gems along the way as well with other characters.  I think we’ll be pleased with how the season wraps up.

Hi, I miss Lee and Rosemary. I hope we see more of them in the next episode. I noticed that there is no ETOnline sneak peek this week. I wonder if Hallmark is going to release the last 2 ep. in a bit to keep the suspense on the end of the season. I love Henry's storyline this season, as I find it more personal with Christopher and the fact that we learn that he and Abigail write to each other often. I wouldn't be surprised if the producers want to prepare the Hearties for Abigail's return in S9
There’s definitely been a lack of Lee and Rosemary this season but next episode seems like a pretty big one for Rosemary so that should be good.
There might just be a delay in getting the clip up.  I wouldn’t really read too much into it.  There was already a clip shared on Home & Family so it’s not like we haven’t gotten anything.
I do think they’re preparing for something with Abigail.  It’s a tricky situation, though.  While TPTB and the actors seem to really want her back, it’s not necessarily that way for the fans who don’t appreciate what Lori did or how she handled it.  We’ll see.

Hi, maybe at the end of the season, what Brian Bird means is that Elizabeth will choose Lucas against all odds, bye
Her picking Lucas would make absolutely no sense.  It’d be an insult to Lucas considering Elizabeth is in love with another man.  That’s not an outcome anyone should be pulling for at this point and there’s literally no way to make it a logical choice.

hi, which actress would you see playing the character who will be Nathan's new love interest. On the TeamNathan account, fans suggest Cindy Busby, Brooke D'Orsay or Ashley Williams. What do you think? Bye
Those are all terrible choices, in my opinion, and I wouldn’t be happy if they were chosen.  I’ve seen Cindy suggested a bunch but people seem to have forgotten she’s already been on the show.
I would prefer a woman of color.  It also might not be a bad idea to pick a lesser known actress that no one really has an opinion of.  It will be a huge decision for them if they’re planning on bringing someone in specifically for Nathan.  It needs to be the right woman or fans will be upset about that too.  Hallmark tends to have actresses who all have the same over-the-top quirky acting style and that’s not what we need.

hi, do you think there will be a Christmas movie ? And when do you think they will introduce Nathan's new love interest (beginning, middle or end of the season) ? I hope we find out soon enough if Martin and Paul are involved in S9 and if Lee and Rosemary expand their family in this season. Finally, I hope we will have more scenes at the school
I think having a Christmas movie will be part of their strategy to win back viewers.  The Christmas movies generally don’t have a lot of plot and they’ll probably hope that people will tune in for all the festive and cheerful stuff and want to see what else is in store.
They would probably introduce a new love interest (if that’s the direction they plan to go in) early on in the season but I wouldn’t expect anything to happen for a while since Nathan has to get over Elizabeth.  I wouldn’t imagine he’s really open to finding love after getting his heart stomped on.  Whatever they decide, hopefully it’s a satisfying story.
It would be nice to know if Martin and Paul are coming back but we might not know until they start filming.  I expect them to keep quiet on Lee/Rosemary plans as well so that’s a surprise for viewers along the way with however it happens.
When they get back to filming in a couple months maybe they’ll be able to loosen the restrictions a bit and have more school scenes.  A lot of people missed that element in season 8.

hi, even if I finally decide not to watch season 9 of WCTH, I will continue to look at your blog and interact with you because I have always found your posts interesting, very lucid on the quality of WCTH. This will perhaps allow me to come back to the show for the other characters because honestly, what I saw during S8 does not make me interested in Elizabeth and Lucas' love story and watch the next season, bye
I’m not remotely interested in Elizabeth and Lucas but I am curious to see where they go with the other characters and couples.  There’s still enough there to keep people interested in everything else.  We can just skip over the parts we don’t care about.  It’s not the ideal watching experience but I think it’ll be the preferred method for a lot of people.

After my disappointment, I think Nathan will realize later that he is lucky Elizabeth did not choose him. He deserves to be loved unconditionally and not as the memory of another man. What bothers me about Elizabeth's monologue is that she never seemed to confuse Jack with Nathan. I find it a little too easy a scriptural spin to explain the unexplainable or destroy everything that was built by the former showrunner on the previous seasons.
Finally, I hope that Nathan's next love story is a new character that would arrive in season 9. I don't want to see him fall in love with Fiona or Faith. Finally, I wonder what John Tinker proposed to Kevin to see him so happy with this idea. I'm going to do what I did from season 4 to season 5 when the J/E love story was starting to bore me, watch the show for the other HopeValley characters because the E/L love story doesn't interest me,bye
Nathan deserves better.  100%.  Lucas and Elizabeth can have each other.
It did feel very convenient for Elizabeth to use that excuse.  It’s literally the only thing she could say to make it make sense... but it doesn’t.  Because we saw the previous 3 seasons and that’s not what was happening.  But whatever.
I do hope they bring in someone new for Nathan.  Someone fun and lively and who will appreciate him for who he is and be good for Allie as well.  Hopefully there’s some good things planned for him.

Hi, this season 8 is starting to remind me of season 2, I think we haven't finished comparing Elizabeth's attitude in this new season with the one she had in season 2. Also, we can make the analogy with Jack/Nathan and Charles/Lucas,bye
I’ve always thought that if she wanted to have a life similar to the one she had in Hamilton, Charles should just come back.  We don’t even need Lucas if that’s the case.  There was already a man who fit the bill.  People hated on Charles but he wasn’t actually a bad guy.  He and Elizabeth had a past and he cared for her.  He was a good match for Hamilton Elizabeth... but she made the choice to make a change and be Hope Valley Elizabeth and therefore shouldn’t end up with a Charles-like man.
Elizabeth in season 2 was truly awful and we’re starting to see that again.  When she gets uncomfortable or people start to question her, she gets rude.  I think there’s still a little bit of entitlement as well.  She’s mostly thinking about herself and not the fact that there’s two men involved (and Allie as well).  She keeps saying that she needs to pick and that she doesn’t want to hurt anyone but that’s what she continues to do.  It’s what she will continue to do for MONTHS in the timeline.  I think it’s only going to get worse as she gets even more conflicted.

hi, I was happily surprised to see in the trailer for the next episode that Henry is Ned's best man. I wonder who Florence's maid of honor is because it doesn't seem to be Molly,Bye
It looks like Katie is.  Maybe Florence asked her as a nice gesture or maybe Katie decides to do it as a way to show support and Molly steps down so it can be a family thing for them.
Also, Florence is wearing Molly’s dress???

Hi, some fans, in view of a tweet from BB about Lucas' choice to allow the series to last longer, are wondering if Kevin didn't plan to leave the show at the end of S9 or at least if he didn't tell the production that he didn't plan to stay long in it. Maybe they didn't want to take the risk that Kevin would leave the show like DL. Bye
It’s not about the actors it’s about the story.  TPTB feel there’s more story to tell with Lucas and Elizabeth instead of Nathan and Elizabeth which is why they say they picked him.  There’s no way the show would allow another Dan situation.  There’s also a thing called contracts that surely both Chris and Kevin signed for multiple years.  Most smart actors don’t leave shows that give them employment so I wouldn’t expect Kevin to leave unless he had a better opportunity in the future.  Everyone talks about Kevin... but Chris could leave too.  We know he wanted something different for his character based on interviews which is how I viewed the Dan situation too.  Maybe Chris will get bored and want out.  Maybe there’s another cast member doing something illegal that will blow up things again.  We don’t know.  It’s pointless to speculate.

hi, JT wrote a post in which he apologized for hurting fans. Duly noted. What bothers me is that Lucas fans are coming to TeamNathan's account to explain that they didn't understand anything, that JT did say that a decision would be made early on and so Lucas' choice was made when she rejected Nathan and started dating L. Finally, I don't think TPTB give a damn about Nathan fans whether they continue to watch the show or not. bye
If it’s the same post I saw, it wasn’t much of an apology.  It was him being upset that they didn’t like what he’d done and calling them out for not acting a certain way.  There never will be an apology because they feel justified in their actions and the choices they’ve made.  They’re going to stand by them.  As they should.  It’s their only course of action at this point.
Everything was handled poorly and realistically both sides should be annoyed with how it went down.  We could’ve had a completely different season 8 had they made the decision earlier on but that’s not what they did.  It turns out that’s what we’re now supposed to think, but that wasn’t what was advertised.  That wasn’t what they were saying when they were getting everyone to tune in so they could get the ratings.
What’s done is done.  We can’t change anything.
