i just think that hera loves zeus and he loves her, and i want to talk about it.
this is not to say that they are perfect or that i reject the idea that zeus is unfaithful and that hurts her. he cheats on her. she does get angry. she does feel jealous. she sometimes takes it out on the people he strays to because she cannot take it out on him, and anger is not always logical. i think her anger is justified, if ill-aimed.
but i still believe they love each other very much. there's a level of understanding between them that cannot be matched. they rule olympus together so seamlessly, and that comes from one key truth: they trust each other.
with time, hera comes to understand that while her husband may not be faithful, his commitment to her is apparent in other ways. he trusts her unlike any other. he confides in her things no one else might hear. he returns to her every time. he provides for her needs and leaves her wanting for very little. he believes in her ability to do her job without any oversight from him. he showers her with affection every chance he gets. he apologizes for his misdeeds and means it, despite how hard it is for him to do so.
and its my belief that their relationship evolves to be something better. hera does not like that he strays, but he strays less and less as the years develop. she understands it, even if she does not like it. he does everything in his power to make her feel loved and she knows that his love for her is not contingent on his fidelity and its not perfect, and they are not perfect, but they are so fundamentally intertwined that even though she can be angry, she knows that he is the only one for her.
and she is the only one who will ever hold his heart so fully.
