As hygiene and safety practices now become top of mind for travelers, the Quirk team is going beyond simply complying with the new Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment requirements from parent brand, Hyatt, and governing state of Virginia to ensure the heart of the property stays intact with creative touches. Such aspects include custom designed face masks for all employees in the Quirk signature pale pink hue, among other things.
Staring Monday, June 1 the following operations will begin:
Guests are able to stay overnight at the property and they are now taking reservations
Q Rooftop service 11am-10pm

Pink Grouse Restaurant dinner to-go service only, with dining in outside courtyard

They would love to welcome you in for a tour, day experience, or overnight visit soon! Photos by Betty Clicker.

New Online Art Exhibit  // Light in Darkness at Les Yeux du Monde
Tumblr media
Russ Warren, Night Fishing at Moms, acrylic, fishing line, fish hooks on canvas, triptych, 60 x 48" each panel, 60 x 144"
These quarantine times are naturally keeping us at home,but that doesn’t mean we have to lack for culture and art. Local art gallery Les Yeux du Monde is pleased to present a new online exhibition, Light in Darkness, now through July 2020.
At the beginning of the 20th century artists from Kandinsky to Mondrian were attempting to represent the spiritual and a deeper reality through their art, thus leading art historian and artist Lydia Gasman to define Modernism as a “quest for new forms of the sacred.” Over 100 years later, the artists in this exhibition also subscribe to this goal, albeit in varying ways.
Tumblr media
Lydia Gasman's Angel of History, based on an essay by Walter Benjamin about a watercolor by Paul Klee of the same title, announces our theme. Gasman, a Jewish Romanian immigrant with first-hand memories of the horrors of World War II, transforms the theme of an angel witnessing the destructive path of history behind it to one of hope, as her weighty citron yellow angel with massive celestial blue and white wing seems to triumph over the dark explosions painted on airplane aluminum behind it.
Also featured are gold leaf multi-media paintings on paper and on panels of shimmery golden chub fish and clouds by Dean Dass, and light filled still life paintings of bottles and their infinite reflections by the consummate painter and scholar of light, David Summers.
In Russ Warren's huge triptych Night Fishing at Moms, several brilliant spiraling lemon yellow orbs illuminate the subterranean aquatic world below the surface. Michelle Gagliano’s Raffaello’s Pallette, intended for a celebration of Raphael’s life in Urbino, Italy that was cancelled because of the pandemic, glows with the pigments and materials used by the Renaissance master along with her own non-toxic colors and shimmery golds.
Three artists living and working in New York’s Hudson River Valley are also included. Recently celebrated in Sculpture Magazine, Millicent Young uses luminous white horse hair atop and surrounded by lead and iron, in her cantos 11-13, as a moving meditation about the fragility of our constructed systems and interdependence on this small earth. Kurt Steger, similarly highlights the delicate balance of humanity and our buildings and environment in his sculpture, while Dorothy Robinson paints rich textural abstractions that continuously morph into awe-inspiring natural or architectural scenes, prompting contemplation about the worlds we humans co-create and inhabit throughout our shared history on the planet. Other artists’ shining works will be added as this online show continues.
Check out the exhibit by visiting the gallery at www.lydm.co.

Design Tour // 3 Distinctive Nurseries from Folly
Tumblr media
It’s been predicted that these quarantine times are going to lead to a serious baby boom a few months down the road. If that’s the case, we caught up with Victoria Pouncey and Beth Ann Kallen, the design duo at Folly, as they shared three gorgeous nurseries they recently worked on. Come along as they give us a tour.
GENDER NEUTRAL. (pictured above). “This was for a couple's first baby, a little girl. We wanted the space to be neutral, calm and chic but of course functional. Our jumping-off point was the English animal wallpaper, and we continued the animal theme with the juju hat and felt swan and elephant princess.”
Tumblr media
“The nursery had been a guest room and would still occasionally need to be used as such so we chose a custom upholstered daybed with trundle. This was also perfect for the mom for overnight feedings. The fabric was indoor/outdoor for easy maintenance. The room had a wall of windows which made the space light and airy during the day. We made custom curtains with blackout lining so the baby could sleep peacefully!”
Tumblr media
Boy's Nursery. “Animal themes are perfect for nurseries and the inspiration for this one came from the fact that the baby's father had lived for a time in South Africa. The window treatment fabric is embroidered animals, birds and vines in greens and blues which coordinates with the Zak and Fox fabric on the glider.”
Tumblr media
“Of course, the highlight is the canvas palm tree with vintage rattan monkey.”
Tumblr media
Girl's Nursery. “The mother of this baby girl loves pattern! We used Schumacher's Lotus Garden in Lilac for the window treatments. The mother liked the lines of a Pottery Barn rocker but to make it special enough for the room we custom upholstered it with a hand-blocked pink flower linen.”
Victoria and Beth Ann are standing by to help you with your next project, whether it be a nursery or redo of your living room. Give them a call or reach out via e-mail.  Folly | 434-295-0688 | [email protected]  | [email protected]

What We’re Making // Italian Loaf Bread with Lynsie Steele at Vie
Tumblr media
If you’ve been scrolling social media lately, you’ve likely seen a slew of bread-making posts. And if the prospect of making bread at home seems daunting, you’re not alone. That’s why we asked Lynsie Steele, of Vie - Meal Plans That Save You Money, who has been teaching bread-making for 15 years for a tutorial so we can start making homemade bread. Here, she offers guidance on how to make a simple Italian loaf, from mixing, kneading,  and rising, to baking (Video tutorial HERE). By the end of this tutorial, you’ll be able to begin turning out loaf after delicious loaf of scratch-made bread that you and your entire family will enjoy.
INGREDIENTS 1 ½ cups whole milk or unflavored, unsweetened nut milk 1 cup water (plus ½ cup reserved for later) ½ cup vegetable oil, olive oil or melted butter 2 Tbsp agave, honey or sugar 2 ¼ tsp yeast (1 packet) or 2 Tbsp baking powder/baking soda or ½ cup sourdough starter 3 ½ -5 cups flour (as needed, begin with minimal amount) 1 tsp salt 1 sheet parchment 1 sheet plastic wrap or 1 damp towel 2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
INSTRUCTIONS
Begin by gently combining milk, water, oil, and sweetener.
Sprinkle the top of the mixture with yeast until covered evenly and mix to combine.
Add 3 ½ cups flour and mix until incorporated. Continue adding more flour until your dough reaches the “shaggy stage” (see video tutorial).
Add salt, mix slightly and turn out onto a lightly floured work surface.
With a dough scraper, begin by working in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction, bring the outer circle of the sides of the dough into the middle. Continue until the dough begins to come together and is no longer sticking to your scraper.
Lightly flour the top of the dough, press gently and quickly into a circle with your hands and repeat the same movement, pulling the outer edges in and using the heel of your hand to press into the center.  * Remember to work in the same direction as you did before with the dough scraper.
Once the dough begins to give resistance, flip it seam-side down on your work surface, sprinkle with flour and allow it to rest for 10 minutes.
After ten minutes, flip the dough over again and repeat the same process, working in the same direction, until the dough begins to feel soft and smooth around the outside, like the side of your cheek.
Using the side of your hand, create a trench down the middle of the dough (seam-side up still) lengthwise and fold one half over on itself.
Pinch the seam at the fold to seal it, and place the formed loaf seam-side down on a piece of parchment.  Cover with a wet towel or a piece of plastic.
Allow to rise for 1-2 hours.
At the end of the rising/proofing process, preheat your oven to 425 F.
When ready to bake, remove the towel or plastic wrap and sprinkle the top of the loaf with water.
Top with sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning.
Using a serrated knife that has been dipped in water, make three incisions, ½ inch deep, along the top of the dough.
Place in the oven for 20-30 minutes at 425 F then reduce the oven temperature to 350 F.  Continue to bake until hollow-sounding when tapped/knocked and golden brown, about 20 more minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 2 hours (if you can wait that long). Slice & enjoy!
Lynsie has launched her “Keep Calm and Cook On” campaign and is now offering a FREE Covid-19 Meal Plan that will be updated weekly and can be followed at home with pantry and fridge staples. And be sure to check out Lynsie’s free live cooking classes every day at 11:00AM on her FACEBOOK page. You can find past classes HERE. They’re super informative and fun and many are geared toward cooking with your kiddos. She’s also offering consulting services and private virtual cooking classes so don’t hesitate to reach out. Lynsie, thanks for being such an amazing local source of information and support during this time. And as she says, “Keep Calm and Cook On!”

What We’re Doing // Amanda Beckwith from Virginia Distillery Company
Tumblr media
In our latest installment, we caught up with Amanda Beckwith, guest experience & education manager at Virginia Distillery Company. Here she shares how they’re adapting and what she’s doing at home to maintain a sense of normalcy.
WHAT VIRGINIA DISTILLERY CO. IS DOING We’ve closed The Visitors Center in Lovingston to allow for safe social distancing, but our team is moving forward in all markets with the national launch of our flagship American Single Malt Whisky Courage & Conviction (available now in select Virginia ABC stores and online!) and we’ve turned our production focus to hand sanitizer for the time being to assist those on the front lines.
Our website has details on where to find our whisky, as a well as a number of cocktail recipes well-suited for quarantine.
WHAT AMANDA IS DOING  I am reading: As a book fanatic, any extra time means a chance to crack open a book. I'm currently reading The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden and The Curious Bartender: An Odyssey of Malt, Bourbon & Rye Whiskies by Tristan Stephenson.
Podcasts I’m listening to: I travel frequently, so three of my favorite podcasts to make the miles fly by are LeVar Burton Reads, Critical Role and Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History.
Series I’m binge watching: I recently inhaled The Watchmen and The Witcher, so now it’s more of an occasional old episode of Star Trek TNG or The Great British Baking Show while I wait for the next season of The Mandalorian.
Songs / playlists I’m listening to: I’ve been listening to a lot of Ella Fitzgerald, David Bowie and First Aid Kit. Colors by Black Pumas and River by Bishop Briggs were two favorites from this morning’s playlist.
Recipes I’m trying: Last night’s cravings meant tacos had to happen, but I’ve been trying to stay healthy with some creative salads. The warmer weather has me breaking out my blender for smoothies with ingredients like bananas, cherries, and chocolate.
I also love to bake, and recently made a massive batch of chocolate cherry cookies (with a hint of whisky, of course).
Ways I’m keeping the pups (and friend’s kids) entertained: I’ve been fostering a dog for a little while and the bubble machine on the back patio has been a huge success. I think my friends have been using FaceTime with me as a way to keep their kids entertained. I certainly haven’t minded.
Games I’m enjoying: Thanks to Discord and Roll20, I’ve been playing D&D online with my friends. It’s a fantastic way to stay in touch and fit in some healthy escapism every week.
Tasks I’m finally tackling around home: After a round of general spring cleaning, I’ve begun reorganizing my closets and creating a donation pile. My next project is finding a better way to store my loose leaf tea collection that now dominates an entire shelf in my pantry.
My home workspace set up: My living room and dining table both double as an office space, but the sunshine and warmer weather on the way means that my patio table will likely soon become my new desk. Whenever I’m done with work for the day, I make a point of packing up my work items to transition away until the fresh start of the following morning.
My personal immunity / health regimen: I’ve always been a frequent hand washer and a fan of the fruits and veggies, so I had a good foundation to build on. Doing my part to not spread the virus has meant giving up a lot of social interactions, but there was no doubt it was the right thing to do. Having a dog around has gotten me quite a few miles in that I wouldn’t normally be logging, and a quick yoga session in the morning is another favorite way to start a day strong.

Financial Assistance Summary
Here we go! This is our best attempt at summarizing what we understand about the current SBA loan programs. Just keep in mind, as much as we want to help small businesses access financial assistance, we want to be very clear that we aren’t banking experts at all, and we want to stress that you should contact your financial institution and/or your accountant for professional advice on how to proceed.
These SBA loans are administered by institutions that are approved by the SBA.Contact your banking institution first to see if they administer SBA loans. You will apply online, but with an individual financial institution, not the SBA directly.
SOME OF THE BENEFITS TO BUSINESSES FOUND IN THE CARES ACT:
1) The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), (part of the 7(a) Loan Expansion):
The purpose of this loan program is to help businesses retain their employees at current compensation levels with low-interest - and potentially forgivable - SBA loans that they can use to cover payroll costs for their workforce as well as other operational costs such as rent, interest on mortgage obligations and utilities.
Sole proprietors and independent contractors are eligible to apply for these loans as ‘self-employed individuals’.
Sole proprietors would use IRS filings and Profit and Loss statements to support their eligibility claims. Franchises are specifically included in the Act. The interest rate for a covered loan is not to exceed 4%. You can apply for forgiveness on the loan in an amount that is equal to the amount spent during an 8-week period after the origination date of the loan on eligible expenses.
2) SBA Express Loan - Repayable Loan:
Eligible businesses can be granted up to $350,000 of capital in the form of either a term loan or line of credit. Fast turnaround time for an approval. The interest rate is negotiated but cannot exceed the SBA maximum.
3) Emergency Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) - Repayable Loan:
The Act expands eligibility for access to Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) to include any individual operating as a sole proprietor or an independent contractor during the covered period (January 31, 2020 to December 31, 2020). The Act requires that for any SBA EIDL loans made in response to COVID-19 before December 31, 2020, the SBA shall waive any personal guarantee on advances and loans below $200,000, the requirement that an applicant needs to have been in business for the 1-year period before the disaster, and the ‘credit elsewhere’ requirement.
4) Deferment of Employer Payroll Taxes:
This provision of the Act allows employers to defer payment of the employer-share of Social Security and Medicare taxes due from March 27 to December 31, 2020. Half of the tax will be due Dec. 31, 2021 and the other half will not be due until Dec. 31, 2022. (This doesn’t apply to the amounts withheld from employees).
This benefit also applies to self-employed individuals, allowing them to defer half of their self-employment tax on the same schedule. However, if you have had debt forgiven under either the PPP or the US Treasury Program Mgt. Authority, you are excluded from this deferment.
5) Emergency Grant Payment Distributions:
These grants allow an eligible entity who has applied for an EIDL loan due to COVID-19 to request an advance on that loan, of not more than $10,000, which the SBA must distribute within three days. Applicants shall not be required to repay advance payments, even if subsequently denied for an EIDL loan. Advance payment may be used for providing paid sick leave to employees, maintaining payroll, meeting increased costs to obtain materials, making rent or mortgage payments, and repaying obligations that cannot be met due to revenue losses. Further, the Act requires that an advance payment be considered when determining loan forgiveness, if the applicant transfers into a loan made under SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program. (In other words, we think that if you get this $10K advance, that it reduces your PPP grant by the same amount.)
6) Multiple Modifications to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) enacted in late 2017:
There are important tax changes in the CARES Act that very possibly affect your business, and we have included a link to our auditor’s website that addresses these modifications which can get you started in a review that you would continue with your tax preparer. Suffice to say that these changes may potentially allow you to receive a refund of taxes paid in previous years.
7) Employee Retention Credits:
If you have employees, the CARES Act provides for a refundable credit against payroll taxes for 50% of wages paid from March 13, 2020, to December 31, 2020, up to $10,000 per employee if the employer has a quarter that falls 50% or less in gross receipts below the same quarter last year.
8) FYI on Unemployment:
We know that very few of our franchisees have employees, but here is a summary of some of the temporary changes to unemployment insurance enacted through the Act. A temporary Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program was established through December 31, 2020, to provide payment to those not traditionally eligible for unemployment benefits (self-employed, independent contractors, those with limited work history and others) who are unable to work as a direct result of the coronavirus public health emergency.
We do not, at the current time, know how a self-employed individual would provide documentation on employment.
The Act provides for an additional $600 per week payment to each recipient of unemployment insurance or Pandemic Unemployment Assistance for up to four months - in addition to state unemployment compensation and irrespective of how much the laid off employee is making when they were laid off. It also provides an additional 13 weeks of unemployment benefits through December 31, 2020, to help those who remain unemployed after weeks of state unemployment benefits are no longer available.
APPLYING FOR AN SBA LOAN
PPP loans will be made by SBA-approved lenders, like a bank, and you will apply directly to them. SBA is expected to issue guidance to lenders, including details on how to apply and the criteria SBA will use to determine who will receive loans by April 11 (15 days from signing of the Act), although it may be issued sooner.
Because there is going to be an avalanche of businesses applying for these loans, you should start assembling documentation now to expedite the application process. This is not a comprehensive list, but we suggest getting these items together now so you are ready to apply. Be sure to have all documents in a digital format. All of these documents may not be requested.
Since these loans are SBA 7(a) loans, the forms that you will have to fill out will be similar to SBA Form 1919, so review that form at this time;
Articles of incorporation/organization;
Bylaws/operating agreement;
Documentation verifying payments on mortgage obligations, lease payments and utility payments;
Payroll expense verification documents, including IRS Forms 941 and 944, payroll summary reports and bank statements, summary of payroll benefits;
Trailing twelve-month profit and loss statement, and complete 2019 financials (P&L and Balance Sheet);
Utility statements;
Most recent IRS Form 941 (quarterly Federal Income tax return);
January 2019 through February 2020 payroll expenses;
You may need your business license;
Prior year taxes, if they are complete. If 2019 taxes are not complete, then have 2018 taxes ready in a digital format.
As a reminder, we are not professionals in the finance industry, nor experts on SBA loans, so as we said before, please seek the advice of a professional when making your applications or if you have questions.
These are our best resources that we’ve found at the current time. Please use these direct links as your primary source of information.

5 Signs Your Skin is Stressed—and How to Rescue It
Tumblr media
We all know that stress is bad for us, but did you know that stress can cause premature aging to your skin? The experts over at Signature Medical Spa reached out to us with tips and pearls of wisdom on how you can best take care of your skin during this time. Read on to discover the key indicators that your skin is feeling feeling stressed and how to best give it the TLC it needs right now.
1. Dryness. Increased production of the hormone cortisol (a stress hormone) effects the skin’s ability to hold on to water leading to dull, dry skin
Avoid hot water and harsh detergents that strip the skin’s oils
Use products with lower PH
Slather on creams and moisturizer while skin is still slightly damp to trap the moisture
Use hyaluronic acid serums and other skincare products that contain hyaluronic acid
Dryness and worry lead to fine lines. Exfoliate with DefenAge 2 Minute Reveal Mask or iS Clinical TriActive Exfoliating Mask one to two times per week to minimize lines and dryness.
2. Wrinkles and Fine Lines. Cortisol triggers an elevation in blood sugar.  This damages our collagen and elastin, the protein fibers that keep skin plump and firm.  Constant muscle tension leads to deeper, permanent lines.
Can’t get in for your Botox? Here are some at-home hints:
Products with retinol and antioxidants (Vitamin C) encourage collagen production
Take time to meditate or practice your yoga daily
3. Redness. Increased blood flow causes capillaries to expand.  Stress triggers flushing Rosacea.  Stress also weakens your immune system so flare ups last longer.
If you can’t get in for your Skin Rejuvenation with IPL, use anti-inflammatory products like iS Clinical Proheal serum, your Rx topicals or calming masks like pure honey to soothe and calm skin
4. Acne. Stress can lead to acne outbreaks, increased inflammation and oil production, dryness and redness. The result is blemished, blotchy skin.
Consider incorporating iS Clinical Renew and Replenish Duo.  This powerful duo contains pharmaceutical grade botanicals that gently exfoliate with eco-friendly microbeads and a rejuvenating moisturizer with blood orange, powerful peptides and antioxidants to help your skin feel healthy and smooth
5. Puffy, tired red eyes. Stress and anxiety cause a chain reaction, leading  to sleepless nights causing puffiness, dark circles, and dry, red eyes
Apply your eye cream more like a light mask and let it soak-in at bedtime
Place cucumber slices or cool compresses (such as used tea bags that can be placed in the freezer in plastic bags) over your eye cream to cool and sooth itchy red eyes.  This constricts blood and lymph vessels which helps to reduce puffiness.
Want more pearls?
Daily exercise, such as walking, will help to reduce tension, boost circulation, and increase positive endorphins.
Remember to apply your SPF 30+ 30 minutes prior to going outdoors and reapply every 2 hours, or after swimming or sweating.
Stay hydrated; avoid soda, alcohol, and caffeine. Drink plenty of water!
The team at Signature Medical Spa is standing by to answer your questions, M-F from 9am-4pm. You can call Jackie Busa at (434) 923-4646 or email at [email protected] to arrange mailing out products or curbside pick-up. All pick-ups will receive 10 Spa Dollars for further use. They accept credit cards in-person or over the phone, or checks from existing clients. Gift cards are available online 24/7. Today we caught up with Linnea White of Darling Boutique. While it is not business as usual at the shop, Linnea is certainly not sitting around twiddling her thumbs. Here we share how you can still get your Darling goods and how Linnea is keeping her spirits up. [Photo credit to @tiffanysunjung]
WHAT DARLING IS DOING Darling is now offering curbside pickup during store hours and free shipping on orders over $100, with a much more robust online shop. She’s also offering virtual shopping by calling at 434-202-0664 to video shop with them (during our store hours).
Darling has also launch Positivity Packages. These are curated care packages, seven total, ranging from $20 to $70, that offer pampering treats for yourself or someone you love and push positivity. Check them out: The Dear Darling, The Breathe. Bath. Repeat., The Pamper Me, The Hygge My Home, The Love Local, The Alltogether Darling, Styled by Darling.
Click here for their expanded retail offerings during this time. And really, who couldn’t use a little retail therapy about now?
WHAT LINNEA IS DOING I am reading: I’m always reading multiple books at the same time! Here’s what’s on my nightstand currently: What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty, The Path Between Us, Suzanne Stable, and Love Does by Bob Goff.
Podcasts I’m listening to: Current favs — Dax Shepherd’s Armchair Expert, Dressed: The History of Fashion, Superwomen with Rebecca Minkoff, Conversations with People Who Hate Me, and for a laugh, Congratulations with Chris D'Elia or Fighter and The Kid.
Series I’m bingeing: I recently blew through the new Hulu Little Fires Everywhere — SO good! But I’m also currently rewatching all of Schitt’s Creek from the beginning, because I needed the lighthearted wit and humor right now. Music I’m listening to: I love music, so this is hard! So I’ll list a few favorite songs of right now, and then a favorite playlist: The Lone Bellow, “Dust Settles”; Audrey Assad, “It is Well”; Kacey Musgraves, “Rainbow”; Harry Styles, “Treat People with Kindness”; Joseph, “Fighter”; Odesza ft. Leon Bridges, “Across the Room”; Playlist: “Social Distancing” by Alicia Chew on Spotify
What I’m making: My boyfriend is the cook! #blessed He just made the BEST chicken wild rice soup from scratch Sunday. I helped with peeling carrots! 🤣But I’ve been baking more often again, and am about to try this gluten-free banana bread by my friend Renee!
Games we’re enjoying together: Bananagrams! And classic card games, like Gin Rummy and War. Realizing we own very few games! Must fix.
Projects I’m tackling: We finally redecorated the back bedroom last weekend — hung new curtains, a new big circle mirror, and switched around decor. New bedding on both beds. Cleaning like crazy. Little things to help make home feel like a fresh, clean, cozy space.
How I’m working: I pretty much just work from my laptop on the coffee table or kitchen table, but always set the mood with a candle and good tunes. Oh, and I always get dressed if I’m working from home. I dress for the mood I want, not the one I have!
My wellness / immunity regimen: We’ve always had this regimen, so it hasn’t changed as of recent: Glass of water in the morning (maybe with lemon), a shot of apple cider vinegar, Vitamins - D, B, C, Echinacea, Fish Oil, Lion’s Mane, and a multi, a shot of elderberry syrup, Balance CBD oil by Juna. I eat healthy (ish) — meditate with the Balance app when needed, morning or evening. At night I enjoy hot tea by traditional medicinals with a scoop of Thrive (powder with reishi and 5 other mushroom extracts).

Today we’re checking in with Julie Arbelaez, owner of Peace Frogs Travel|Outfitters. As you can imagine, her business is especially hard hit at this moment and she and her travel consultants are working hard undoing the last 6-12 months of work cancelling spring trips. Here she shares how they’re moving forward and how she’s passing her time at home.
WHAT PEACE FROGS TRAVEL|OUTFITTERS IS DOING  At Peace Frogs Travel|Outfitters we plan to continue to spread the joys of travel  - to everyone stuck at home. How can you take part? Send a TRAVEL GEAR PACKAGE to someone you love. Our staff can customize a package for someone you care about. A few ideas: Vacation Turned Staycation for Kids, Get Outside - geared for a leisurely walk outdoors, and Calming Kit - peace & relaxation items. And because we care about supporting our community we’ll donate 10% of every care package sold to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
Contact our packing specialists today at 434.977.1415 (Monday-Friday 10-4p) to put together a package. We're offering curbside pickup and shipping is also available.
WHAT JULIE IS DOING Embracing silver linings:
Extended daylight hours where I am not ‘too busy’ to walk the dog
Enjoying a glass of wine on the front porch
Reading for pleasure
Trying some more complicated recipes
I am reading: Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. Learning that our greatest strength can be in allowing ourselves to embrace and share our vulnerabilities.
I have started: One of those online 5K runner apps since I normally go to the gym for my exercise. I actually don’t like running but working out is definitely one way to keep my sanity.
I started taking: zinc tablets to boost my immunity.
My husband and I watched: (most of) Parasite last night….a movie… on a weeknight….never! Fascinating movie, by the way.
Cooking: My 12-year-old and I are experimenting with different homemade ice cream recipes. This morning we made vanilla with a sea salt caramel swirl. My 15-year-old is tasked with making dinner. He’s a very good cook, but usually there isn’t time for him to experiment in the kitchen.
I will finally finish: the photo book I started after last summer’s 2-week vacation to Colombia!
Thanks to Julie for sharing! We’ll see if we can get that ice cream recipe because who couldn’t use more of that right now. Be sure to reach out to Julie to plan that much-needed vacation once things get rolling again.  Peace Frogs Travel|Outfitters | 1043 Millmont St. | 434-977-1415 | [email protected]
