Started on a Point The Way shawl br DROPS Designs, free pattern on Ravelry. I’m using a vast assortment of leftover bits of fingering weight yarns from my stash. Day 10 of #yarnlovechallenge ! A day late, but it comes with a story. There is more in most stashes than just yarn. There are the "stories" that come with each ball of yarn stashed! I went stash diving this afternoon. I am slept out but still fuzzy brained (I have a nasty cold), so stash diving was right up my alley! #oldstash Stash diving is a walk down memory lane. A stroll through good intentions and poor follow throughs; projects considered and then rejected; "what was I thinking" purchases; left over bits of finished projects; and a myriad of started sweaters, socks and shawls and other WIP's! Pictured is one of my first pairs of gloves, a Christmas gift for my soon to be MIL. Knit over 20 years ago. They disappeared into the "trunk" as they were "too good to be used"! My MIL died 5 years ago and I found these gloves carefully wrapped in paper in the "trunk". I put them away, forgotten until this stash dive. It is time for that memory to be dusted off. Interweave is doing another KAL for June - the Phyllotaxis Hat (pattern by Marie Godsey)! 🧶🧶🧶 It’s another quick stashbuster, took me a little over a week start to finish. I added an extra repeat of the lace pattern because I have a pointy head/wear my hair up a lot and used Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend left over from an old shrug project (the hat used about 1.25 skeins). Finished and blocked the Nurmilintu scarf/shawl today. Used yarn from my stash, but my choice shows why you shouldn’t use busy yarn for lace work. The lace sections don’t even show up! But the picot binding came out better than the last time I tried it, so it’s got that going for it. Baby sister snatched up one of my sample beanies for my new pattern and claimed it as her own, so now big sister wants a new hat too, but none of the ones I've already made (of course 😂). What could I make my “one in a melon” granddaughter? Why, a watermelon hat, of course! I am aware it’s the middle of a very hot summer but she can wear it while they sit around a campfire in the evenings or while watching her brothers play sports.
