I know it’s late but I don’t care! I just got home.. tonights panel was a huge milestone for me because it was the first time I ever spoke in public that I felt super confident, cool and collected. (I’m usually a nervous wreck!) Practice really does help. Hahaha .. but for real, public speaking is a fear that so many of us have. But to lead and help people, sometimes you have to face those fears. Anyway, It was so nice to talk about my start up @lashbinder ! It put so many things in perspective for me. Tonight @socialnupur asked us when we knew we “made it” and almost all of us didn’t expect or have an answer for the question! @andrewlinfoot for example has millions in funding and has given job opportunities to thousands and still didn’t classify himself as ‘made it’. It made me realize that so many of us (especially entrepreneurs) don’t give ourselves enough credit for the work we do. We barely pay ourselves and truly bootstrap. The term “bootstrap” by definition means ‘to get (oneself or something) into or out of a situation using existing resources.’ Which is something every one of us tonight did and still do. True entrepreneurs are resourceful, hungry and determined. Many fail but everyone that came to hear the panel made a smart move. Research can be boring so sometimes and it only takes one event or one conversation to change everything. Don’t give up. Keep fighting in what you believe in and never EVER doubt your ability! I loved that I learned a lot from @andrewlinfoot who founded Pesto (to my left) and Saloni, founder of sustainable fashion brand @agaati.california and @lloyd.jacob (to my right) who founded men’s suit company GurriKahlon.
