12. What was your favorite event?

So far for EngStars, my favorite out of the main events has been Nightless City ( no big surprise ). It shows the dedication & care between the members of UNDEAD, but mainly proves that Kaoru even cares for the well-being of his unit mates, even if at times he acts as if he doesn't care. It's a progress step up from how he acted back during their school year in !. It still showcases Koga's feisty attitude to attempt to solve stuff on his own, but how he slowly begins to cave in & rely on those around him. To let himself go & be cared for by those he feels close with.

I don't excessively spoil myself on future !! events, but I have read a few. I'll never be the same again after reading Obbligato.

I just want to separate !! from ! era. Admittedly, I did not play enstars during the ! era, & I've been sporadically reading translated events from that time, but if there's one event alone that constantly takes over my brainspace, that is indeed the Repayment Festival, Clash! Recollect, with UNDEAD, AKATSUKI, & 2wink. This is the BIGGEST moment during the ! era that gave Koga his greatest growth & maturity. He faced his first round of fears & opened himself up at last to Rei & the others. He stopped being such a, for lack of better word, tsundere. He stopped being that lone wolf who attempted to make everyone dislike him ( which he failed either way bc he's naturally a good boy ). He began to shift himself & no longer attempt to act like who Rei used to be, plus his own twist. Koga opened up to be himself & faced Rei head-on rather than trying to twist Rei as he had done before. Crossroad led up to where they were, but the Repayment Festival was the closure they needed.

Also just wanted to say: Meteor Impact? Also never the same after reading.

Groaning, Rinne slumped up against the small sofa in Niki's (and his, by proxy) apartment's living area. As he stared down at his bruised knuckles - they weren't anywhere near as bad as the shiner on his face or the scrapes on his arms - he had to reevaluate his life choices. Again.

It had been a pretty normal night at the pachinko parlor, really. How was he to know that the guy next to him had been a very angry drunk and that the man had convinced himself that Rinne had to be cheating. He hadn't been, that was the most annoying thing, because Rinne honestly didn't believe in toying with Lady Luck like that, it just meant that he would slip out of favor from her.

Still, the guy had cornered him when he left and while idols most certainly didn't get into fights, he had to be allowed to defend himself, right? He had tried to walk away, but the man wouldn't have it. And this was the result.

"Ey, babe... Like... I'm sorry, 'kay? Yer not mad, right?"

How I feel about this character

Rook is definitely one of my all-time favorite characters. He's such a freak which is SO awesome, but while I enjoy playing up his odd characteristics and borderline inappropriate habits at times for a good yandere fanfic or a funny interaction with other characters for the sake of provocation, I'm of the minority who believes Rook is generally a very benevolent man. That isn't to say he doesn't have the ability to be extremely dangerous in a multitude of ways, but rather that he doesn't choose to. He still stalks. He still obsesses. But he does no real harm, he's more playful than anything. I love watching him interact with his underclassmen and seeing what a gentle and patient mentor he can be, especially when you put him next to Vil ( no shade my Queen, I adore you )! He marches to the beat of his own drum and he somehow gets away with it even in a place like Pomefiore, which is absolutely hilarious. But no matter how strange he might be acting about one thing or another, or how intense he gets with his science experiments and his hunting, he's a very friendly person which I think is so much fun, since the reality differs so much from a person's initial impression of him. He also seems unable to ignore a person who needs a little bit of uplifting or support, which is lovely. All in all, I just adore him, and I think he's such a fun character in every way. I think Yana gave him so many different sides and made him so well-rounded, and I applaud her for all of it. I also really enjoy the odd french word he drops in everyday conversation. If I had more time and ability to pay attention to a multi-muse blog, I'd probably add him. Maybe some day!

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Rukuepe / Rookepel: There's so much I love about these two. Epel clearly has a special bond with Rook, seeing as though he tends to go to him with things just as Rook tends to be doting with Epel, perhaps to the point that I can picture Vil getting irritated at times that maybe his lessons don't hit as hard due to Rook's spoiling. I think Epel would find the fact that he was in Savanaclaw so cool, and I think he'd love hearing stories about it. I also think he'd eventually turn some of his manly idolization onto Rook if they were together, because he'd be watching him in his element while he's hunting more and more, and maybe he'd even ask him to teach him how to use a bow himself. Despite his distaste for being called lovely or beautiful, I also think Rook could help him get over that complex imo, since Epel would realize he calls literally everyone beautiful, because he finds things that he deems beautiful about every person. I think his odd behaviors already intrigue Epel, and his energy would really just make everything kind of fun - I also think Epel's own energy could match his, so they could just be as chaotic as they want to together.

Rukuviru /Rookvil: I'm basic af, ngl. I mostly enjoy looking at fan art of these two because they're just so aesthetically pleasing, but I enjoy the dynamic between the two of them no matter what it is. It's so weird to me that Vil would become so close with someone who just doesn't conform to his ideas of beauty in the same way he does pre-overblot, and someone so outwardly eccentric as well. But it's precisely because they're so different from each other ( though just similar enough ) that makes me like them so much. I love imagining what it was like when Rook first transferred over from Savanaclaw, and all of the work that Vil had to put into him in order to get him to where he is now ( still an odd bird but definitely outwardly beautiful and elegant, with the ability to do all of the things required of a Pomefiore student and a Pomefiore vice housewarden as well. It definitely had to have been a long road, but Vil clearly saw something in Rook that made him worth it, just as Rook saw something in Vil that he felt was worth sticking things out. Their relationship is so funny, and so awkward, and probably so hard to fully understand for other people. Rook goes zero to sixty with Vil in the way that he'll, for example, go all the way to the Isle of Woe just to bring him skincare products, and Vil will act like that's normal, but that's totally fantastic. I think they're just the best and I love watching other characters react to them as well. They've clearly come a long way from when they first met!

Poly Pomefiore: Literally my OTPS for all three Pomefiore boys together in a relationship. It would be such a mess and I would live for it. 10/10 this is my ideal pairing for all three.

Honorable mentions: Rook x Riddle, Rook x Silver, Rook x Ruggie.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Trey lmao. I love what an unlikely duo these two make up, but it warmed my heart to read the manga chapter about their club life together. It's so lovely how well they get along, and how Rook truly seems to respect Trey and acknowledge any advice he might be willing to give him. I think the composed and mature character paired with the eccentric and silly character is always a fun time, so I enjoyed that peek into their relationship immensely.

My unpopular opinion about this character

See above, where I discuss why I can't see him as a yandere archetype and nothing more.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Like almost every other non-housewarden character, I'd really just like more Rook-centered material haha.

But mainly I'd love to look more into how and why he transferred from Savanaclaw to Pomefiore, and how he got to know and worship Vil to the degree that he does.

I am so familiar with Mystic Messenger~ Love the game to bits when I actively played back in like what, 2016? Well, somewhere around there I just know I enjoyed playing the game and even got my hands on one of those limited new year's gift thing. Actually, I don't think I ever opened, oops~

Anyways! Yes, I'm familiar with the game and enjoyed playing each of it routes. Seven and Saeran immediately caught my attention as possible muses to write back then. If I give the game another play (i hope I still have my account), who knows maybe I'll develop their muses~

How I feel about these characters I LOVE THEM MY ANGELS MY DARLINGS. Kaeya very well may be my favourite character and I'm going to be shameless about that. I'm so, so fond of both of them, though.

All the people I ship romantically with these characters Once again, still figuring out the ship thing. You can sell me on probably almost anything. (One ship I am very fond of at this point is Kaeya and Albedo though. I think I remembered being somewhat interested in Diluc and Jean way back when, too.) That said, the joke I keep making is as follows: (It's since expanded to be more of a circle, with the only parts not overlapping being Kaeya and Diluc.)

My non-romantic OTP for these characters Each other! It's my personal headcanon that they're super close, you just can't say they are because they can't admit that they are. After everything... they simply have to care from a comfortable distance. But never be in doubt that they do care, and are like as not to be the first ones to jump to the other's aid when in need.

My unpopular opinion about these characters I honestly don't and won't ship them romantically, which is evidently a very unpopular opinion. Just not my thing. But I tell you what, they will both SAY they won't go to each other's wedding, then show up anyway and insist on making a speech. Wish each other well and genuinely mean it. Some of y'all have never had a real friend and it shows... but not everything has to be about romance, and I think that goes especially when two people are raised together.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with these characters in canon. I want more interactions for both of them with the characters they're supposedly close to. LET ME SEE IT. I WANT TO SEE EVERYTHING WITH THEM PLEASE I'M STARVING

Groaning, Rinne rolled over on his side as he forced his eyes open. The lighting in Niki's apartment was dim, curtains pulled in front of the the half-open windows, and they fluttered lazily in the breeze that trailed in from outside. He supposed it was cool in the room where he lay, but he couldn't exactly feel it. He was sweaty, he felt gross, and far, far too hot. Rinne's head was thundering, his mouth dry and tasted abysmal, and his throat felt clogged and sore. He coughed.

"...Anyone there?" He thought he had heard something, it must have been that sound that had stirred him from his slumber.

Still. The fact that he was being addressed with respect rather than argumentativeness won Souma back some points; Riddle couldn’t deny it. He wasn’t fighting the scolding, but rather acknowledging where he’d gone wrong, something that was working well at slowly but surely cooling the redhead’s heated temper.

He was from another world - and Riddle had vowed to attempt at becoming a more understanding individual…this was where that sort of thing should come into play, rather than becoming even fiercer in his fury. Souma was giving in. There was no need to to get any more upset.

Riddle studied his bowed head for a moment, before inch by inch his muscles untensed, and he sighed, reaching a hand upwards to rub at his temples.

“…I will allow you a pass just this once, but only if you agree to go and submit the necessary paperwork by this evening at the latest. I am sure you are aware, it isn’t a good look for students to be carrying weaponry on school grounds without permission. Do not make me regret showing you mercy - I am not known for giving second chances.”

He dropped his hand finally, only to fix the other with a hard stare once more.

“This is rare and a testament to my approval of your potential as a student here. Retain the respect with which you have treated me with during this encounter; use it with the other Housewardens and your upperclassmen and professors as well. Prove to me I have made a correct judgement in refraining from punishment.”

The general immediately stiffens at such a claim (that was still quite the sore spot) before hastily refuting, "I did not hate him, and while I did beat him... It caused me no joy but there was little choice to be made." Pausing, Sara made an awkward gesture with her hand. "And seeing as the duel was within the confines of the law, it's not... an arrestable offense-" She should know, she's usually the jailer.

Kaeya isn't always a fan of eye contact - and he certainly isn't a fan of being serious or defining things. He much prefers to leave things unspoken, loose, and ambiguous. It's safer that way. Always one foot out the door, just in case he needs to make a break for it. Sure, it's the thing about him that always made Diluc gripe at him, that grated on his precious brother's nerves, but that just adds to the fun as far as he's concerned.

But Albedo has never shied away from anything. It's something Kaeya admires about him - or did until it was turned against him.

Smooth hands, cool to the touch, cup Kaeya's chin, bringing his gaze back to meet Albedo's. The teal of his eyes is mesmerizing, though his gaze is sharp and solid.

"Ah, I suppose I'm not getting out of this one, am I?" A strained, somewhat awkward laugh chimes from his lips. He still finds himself looking to the side - glancing away despite Albedo's best efforts. "Surely a bott- glass of wine before a serious topic wouldn't be so bad, right?"

morning after starters

aether hears those words before his eyes are even open. the soft silence in the air tells him that it's still early morning, perhaps even before the sun has yet rise. usually the crew of the crux are up and about before then, but the quiet tells the traveler that this quiet morning together will be very sweet. he smiles lazily, stretching the length of his body against kazuha's, aether's naked back pressed to kazuha's bare chest.

he lets a quiet moan of contentment as honey hues open, blinking a few times to adjust to the light before aether lets out a low yawn. he tilts his head to the side, catching sight of kazuha's face in the dim light filtering through their window. "mmn... like waking up with you, too," he whispers, a soft laugh escaping him as he wonders if kazuha had meant that for the dead air and not for listening ears. still, it doesn't matter much to aether, tilting his head up to press a soft kiss to the samurai's chin. he shifts in the other's embrace until they're facing each other, his arm lazily throwing itself over kazuha's waist.

A STARTLED LAUGH PULLED EASILY FROM THE SEER’S MOUTH, IN NO SMALL PART DUE TO THE KISS GIVEN BY THE KEY HOLDER. Mirth was a common sentiment shared by Cana and only grew as she was made aware of the occasion of the days events. She expected the usual gestures from a few admirers, such as confections and pretty trinkets. Perhaps later she would even be graced with flowers. Who was to say? But a kiss from Lucy, as welcome as it was, was not something she anticipated. Though the platonic motion was placed squarely upon her cheek, it was soft and slightly damp with the Key Holder’s lip gloss, the scent of something fruity made Cana’s mouth water with hunger that was far more than the chaste feelings the Summoner displayed. 

Nevertheless Cana smiled and returned the gesture in kind.
