The Leng Memorial Chapel, at Vicarsford Cemetery near Newport in Fife, built by Dundee newspaper baron Sir John Leng in memory of his first wife, Lady Leng. As a student I'd see this from the road on my daily bus commute between Dundee and St Andrews, and was always intrigued by this fantastical edifice, its ornate gothic outlines silhouetted up on the hill with slender spire piercing the grey, putting me in mind of something from the cover of an album by Blue Öyster Cult (Imaginos, probably my favourite concept album of all time, had just been released and I was listening to it obsessively). The architect, Thomas Martin Cappon, modelled it on the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris (he also designed Castle House, home of St Andrews' English dept, where I spent four years). Tl;dr: I need $90 by tomorrow (7-7-17) to pay for new brakes. https://www.paypal.me/starrywisdom I drive for Lyft, I'm between paychecks, and I needed new brakes pretty badly. My landlord knew a guy that would do them for cheap, which he did and it was good work, but what he didn't say was that the guy only takes cash. It ended up being $150, and I had $60 in my account, so my landlord agreed to cover the rest if I paid him back tomorrow. I assume he means tomorrow morning, which puts me in a bit of a Situation. The $60 was all I had and it's unlikely I'll be able to make $90 in one night doing Lyft driving. On top of the minor panic attack I have from that, I don't think I fully kicked the stomach bug that I've had these past couple days, so I feel like shit too. Help Me Avoid Homelessness

Ok guys, here's the deal. I recently moved out to get away from my abusive parents. I have (essentially) no money left now. I have ~$80, but that won't even get me a night in a motel. I've been in a motel using my credit card for the past week and a half, but I maxed it out on Friday and can't use it anymore. I have to be out by 11:00 (est) tomorrow and I have nowhere else to go. I don't have family in the area I can go to. I have an apartment (mostly) lined up, but I can't move in until I get a job or somebody to co-sign for me and both are proving difficult. I burned more bridges than I thought when I left home and I've been looking for a job here since March, but haven't been able to get a call back. I know it's a lot, but if you or anybody you know is near Providence, Rhode Island or is on the East Coast in general and is willing to let me crash on your couch for a while, I will love you forever. Even if it's just for a couple days, it's still something. I'll cook and clean for you, you can boss me around, it's all good. I just need a roof and four walls.
