World of Vitiu VM #1 - Into the Tumblrverse
Tumblr media
Gummie flew over the skyline of Guild Town, the moon shining brightly as their background. Supposedly, the Metanomaly they were pursuing wasn’t dangerous, and they were inclined to believe that--he hadn’t really caused any trouble as of yet. Despite this, Gummie felt it was their duty to observe any being identified as a Metanomaly, hence why they were following him.
The Metanomaly dipped down into an alleyway, with Gummie in hot pursuit. He bounced off, only to hit a dead end. Gummie quietly hid behind a trashcan and observed him.
“I know you’re following me, y’know,” the Metanomaly spoke up, turning to the trashcan. At this point, Gummie had camouflaged themselves into the background and couldn’t be seen, but the Metanomaly wasn’t deterred; he knew better. “Golly, you sure are a sneaky sort for someone supposedly fighting justice, aintcha?”
“I just want to make sure this world is safe. It’s...my home,” the alien responded. They slithered out from behind the trashcan and made themselves visible again. “I mean, you haven’t been dangerous so far, but you’re also not answering any questions...like what you’re doing here.”
“Um, well,” the Metanomaly began, “the answer to that would simply be, ‘living life’. Don’t I have the right to live in peace if I’m not causing trouble, Detective?”
“I...suppose...so.”
The two simply looked at each other until the Metanomaly flinched, looking up towards the moon. Gummie looked up as well, only for the Metanomaly to rush over and grab their wing.
“We gotta get out of here. She’s after me.”
“...’she’s after me’? Who is?” Gummie asked, furrowing their brow.
“Don’t worry about it--”
A shadow suddenly appeared behind Gummie, a single red eye glowing in the middle of the inky blackness. A claw shot out to grab the detective, only for the Metanomaly to swipe at the air behind him, opening a portal. As the shadow clung onto one of Gummie’s tentacles, the Metanomaly yanked them into the portal.
“Whatever you do, don’t let go!” the Metanomaly called out to Gummie. Right when it seemed they’d make a clean getaway, the shadow shot a very tiny arrow of darkness at the detective. Although it wouldn’t harm them, they would suddenly become overwhelmed by fear.
It was enough.
They found themselves gripped by panic. Gummie cried out lightly--and let go of the Metanomaly’s hand.
“DETECTIVE!!!”

“Urien, wake up already. Jesus, you’re putting me to shame.”
Smile loomed over his small boyfriend as the latter stirred lightly and rolled onto his other side.
“Smile, I’m a Yokai. I get to slumber all through the morning, remember?” Urien mumbled, lightly cracking open an eyelid.
“It’s not morning anymore, it’s past noon!” Smile cried out. He huffed and crossed his arms. “I don’t even know how you still wanna sleep, you always get up before me.”
“Sorry, I was watching Spirited Away in like three different languages last night,” Urien chuckled softly. He sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. “Can you hand me my sunglasses?”
Smile floated over to where their TV was, where Urien had placed his sunglasses the night before. Retrieving them, he handed them over to the groggy alien Yokai.
“Thank you~” Urien chirped as he put them on and adjusted them. “If it’s past noon, is Nettles having teatime?”
“Probably. She might be done by now. If you want, you can have sushi for breakfast.”
“That sounds great! Let’s go--”
There was a thump above them.
“The fuck was that?” Smile asked coarsely.
“Well...we’re not gonna find out sitting around in here! Go outside!”
Urien and Smile went outside of the shed where Netalina and Jizo had already gathered.
“Did you hear a thump too, rina?” Netalina questioned, tilting her head slightly. She had a worried expression.
“Yeah, do you know what it--Jizo, what are you looking at?” Smile looked up to see a tear in the sky, a couple meters above them. Jizo made a soft “kyu” noise. Though it was normal of him to look worried, he looked terrified. Smile flew up to the hole. “What is this?”
“Hey, who the hell is this?” Urien called out from below. Netalina and Jizo came to his side, to see he was standing over a strange being who looked like a vague mix of an octopus and a bat.
“...I...I can’t even tell if they’re alive, rina...” Netalina whispered. She glanced at Urien, who glanced at her back...until their attention was brought back to the stranger as they began to move.
“Ugh...where...where is he...where’s the Metanomaly...” Gummie groaned quietly. “He’s...he’s...”
“Did he say ‘Metanomaly’?” Urien asked. “What’s that?”
“...is this person a ‘he’, do you think?” Netalina asked. “Personally feels like a ‘she’ to me.”
They both looked at Jizo expectantly. Jizo side glanced and began sweating profusely.
“I think I would rather wait until we can ask them...”
“Don’t worry about it, you’re all correct,” Gummie responded, finally propping themselves up. “Just use whatever you feel suits me, I guess. Anyway, who are you guys?”
“We could ask you the same,” Urien replied. “But, if you’d prefer we answer first, then I’m Urien Sirius Okuro! But you can just call me Urien. These are my friends, Netalina and Jizo. Netalina is the cute ballerina and Jizo is the potato. Smile’s somewhere over there, he’s my boyfriend.”
Smile peeked up from the roof of the shed.
“The fuck is that?” he asked. “Looks like an alien, to me.”
“Yeah, I guess you could say that,” Gummie replied. Out of seemingly nowhere, they pulled out a pencil and notepad and began to write things down. “Alright, I’m ready to jot down some evidence.”
“Evidence of...what, exactly?” Jizo asked.
“I’m a detective. My name is Gummie Glitz. I was chasing after Metanomaly 000-1, when he pulled me through a portal to save me from an assailant. I’m...almost certain this wasn’t his planned trajectory.”
“Well, there’s a portal up here,” Smile chimed in. “Did you come through that?”
“Ah, yeah! Probably! Good work, Smile!” Gummie flew up to the portal. “...hm. I mean, it’s a portal, so I guess I came through this, but...I think it’s a different color than before.”
“So are you just gonna leave now, rina?” Netalina asked, hopping onto the roof. She turned to Urien, who was also hopping onto the roof now. “Do you think we should follow her? Maybe it’ll be an adventure, rina!”
“You can come with me if you want, but you’ll need to hold onto me. Everyone make a chain.”
Smile grabbed onto Gummie’s wing. Netalina hopped up and grabbed one of his hands, and Urien grabbed onto Netalina’s hand. He held his hand out to Jizo, who looked pensive.
“...kyuuuu...I’m really worried about this...” Reluctantly, Jizo took Urien’s hand. Seeing that everyone was holding on, Gummie nodded.
“Alright, we’re going in!” they called out. They brushed the portal with their free wing, and the five of them were pulled in.
