THIS IS SUCH A GOOD QUESTION WAAHH i didnt have time to answer while in airport hell but now i can go ham.....

ugh god it's so hard to pick favorites when it comes to drawing ygo characters... every time i draw someone new i find a new way to do a little something with the design and that's a big part of the puzzlebox fun for me. once i get a good stylization going on a character theyre just locked in my brain as a fav to draw lol. THINKING HARD ON IT THOUGH. HMMM i think my top three favorites to draw are:

Yubel: i dont draw them Too often but i always have so so much fun drawing them, they have so many little design quirks that are such a treat to draw. and i love giving them little fangies <3

Aporia: NATURALLY. i must be true to my heart i absolutely love drawing this monster robot angel. I love pushing his monstery traits into something more animalistic and wild. i love getting crazy with his symbolism and motifs. he is probably my Top favorite to draw BIG SURPRISE I KNOW.

this third spot i think changes and shuffles out often depending on whoever happens to be chewing a hole in my brain at the moment. It's definitely Vector sometimes, especially since he ALREADY LOOKS LIKE DANA FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION DREW HIM!!!! and it is also Primo sometimes too i always have so much fun drawing my pitbull. but i also need to be real it may actually be sora of all characters. especially the way i stylize him. little fat kid i love you.

"Coolest design" is also SUCH A HARD PICK TOO WAAAHHH I LOVE YGO CHARACTER DESIGN SO FUCKING MUCH. LIKE APORIA IS UP THERE AND NOBODY BUT ME CARES. HES GOT BIGASS CLAWS AND FANGS AND HES 9 FEET TALL.

Why I like them/why I don’t: ive made 32482389 posts about him but Aporia is just genuinely such a fantastic character and NOBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT HIM BECAUSE HE'S WAY IN THE BACK OF 5DS AND HALF OF HIS DUELS DIDNT GET DUBBED!! GAAAAHHH hes my wife my babygirl i will be the CEO of Aporia if no one else will this angelic werelion robot is so cool and so sad and just such a stellar baddie. he's sexy also. who said that.

What I like about their appearance: he truly has one of the most batshit bonkers yugioh character designs and it RULES!! HE'S GOT BIG OL WEREWOLF CLAWS AND FANGS AND A SICK METAL HALO AND NOBODY CARES BUT I DO. I DO!!!!!!!!!!! i need to make my dissertation post about Why I Think Aporia Looks Like That cuz i have my theories. but also monster robot cool as hell

Do I prefer their dub names or original names?: it's the same in both and i like a lot <3 i do think i like the Emperors' dub names a smidge more though. Primo as a name is just. so perfect.

OTP: accidentally fucked around and because the guy who has An Associated Nicheship but the sun could be swallowing up the earth and i would still be shrieking and howling about zoneporia. i love divorce.

Favourite moment they were in: The Afterglow Gambit (of course), but especially right before that, when Aporia slowly moved all of his normal sized cards to his graveyard one at a time in his fuckoff big claws. THE "oh i think i might be obsessed with this guy" moment of all time for me

Least favourite moment: the dub's "ending" where aporia just CRASHES INTO THE OCEAN AND DIES AND THAT'S IT!!!! SHOW'S OVER!!!! *punching the floor getting mad about my favorite 5ds duels not getting dubbed again*

Something I associate with the character: mythical lions, especially of the 'composite animal' variety (sphinxes, manticores, chimeras especially)

Why do you like or dislike this character?

GODDD VECTORRR i like him so so muchhhh. the zexal guy who Grabbed me and has Not let go. He's got so much personality, he's so EXPRESSIVE, I LOVE THAT WE GOT A 'MONSTROUS' YGO BAD GUY WHO'S SILLY AND EXPRESSIVE!!! he looks like he was drawn by a version of me from another dimension, he's FUNNY AND WRETCHED AND THE RELIGIOUS SYMBOLISM MAKES ME BANANASSS. And I love that at the end of the day he's... god he's just a kid. He's a mean miserable alien-demon child playing 4d chess with everyone in his life and his backstory does make me emo and his character arc (culminating in this very inauthentic always doing bits type if character doing something so genuine and beneficial for someone other than himself) is just so goooddd wahhhh. HIS DUB AND SUB VOICES ARE BOTH SO GOOD TOO!! hes just Danabait to the max and who am i to resist.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

LIKE. I LOVE EVERYTHING WITH HIM. BUT I GOTTA SHOUT OUT THE SHINGETSU STUNT like this image may very well but the single funniest thing a yugioh has ever fucking done

rei shingetsu/ray shadows is straight up like when they add a new cast member to a sitcom in a later season in a desperate bid to attract new viewers, but brought to the most bonkers extreme possible. he's like the great gazoo if the great gazoo just started killing people. he's a Too Many Cooks-ass yugioh character. "And Introducing..." ass yugioh character. literally canonly guy who cant stop doing bits. zexal great for many things but this is definitely one of the biggies

they had to kill twitter circles specifically so i would stop screaming in there about bad primo takes but now i run LOOSE. FREE. I WILL NOT BE SILENCED.

🔥like. ok. listen. the sheer amount of primo takes i have seen that boil him essentially down to "delicate sexy pouty catty waifish femboy" make my FUCKING HEAD SPIN. I DONT. GET IT!!!! i dont understand how primoplacido yugioh 5ds is somehow one of the most consistently mischaracterized yugioh characters i've ever fucking seen. why him!!! it's like people saw the white heels and immediately fell victim to an incurable horny brain fungus (even though. like. i dont even think he picked those heels. if anything that was Z-one's choice. and also Aporia has them too and yet why dont i see people lusting after them on him.) (i know why it's because primo's canon appearance is something twink adjacent and aporia's isnt) (anime fans are very often not terribly slick, im finding)

a lot of yugioh characters fall victim to "the fandom version of this character is just some shit yall made up" but primo is by far the weirdest instance of it, especially since he's not a terribly popular character to begin with so the fanwork well is already NOT VERY BIG. and that in general just always frustrates me a little-to-a-lot. I JUST DONT KNOW WHY HE GETS FUMBLED SO BADLY. i want an MLA formatted essay arguing where this Delicate Prissy Prettyboy Primo is in the 5D's narrative text. point to it and show me where it is, show me where it's a supposed consistent part of his character.grabs you and squeezes your shoulders with wild eyes. im being SO good im not even getting into the bee thing i already went off about the bee thing.

I JUST. This guy is a maladjusted permanent robotic manchild who turns into a FUCKING MOTORYCLE MONSTROSITY, he's aggressive and unpleasant to be around, he commands robots that make people crash their bikes and end up in the hospital. He thinks his little butler RPing is sooOOooo clever. He fucked up his duel so bad he died. He is a WEIRDASS FREAK ANGELROBOT, he's practically CARTOONISH, and i just wish people saw his little things like liking strawberries in the Tag Force games and Wisel Top 3's bizarre gerbil-ish design and interpreted them as "oh it's really silly that this unwell robot from the future has this trait, what a funny juxaposition" instead of immediately jumping to "im going to make this his entire personality and not actually comprehend literally any of his other actions." he is SUCH AN INTERESTING CHARACTER AND I FEEL LIKE IM LOSING MY MIND AND IM THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES THE DEPTHS OF IT ALL!!! GRAAAHH

They were really hiding one of the coolest and best yugioh villains and ygo guys in general way in the back of the half of 5ds nobody liked. and nobody told me!!!!!! had to get my brain blasted open all by myself!!! ough. Favorite moment: it's gotta be the Afterglow Gambit. it just rules hard. and also that fucking scene of this gigantic sparking falling apart monster robot slowly sending all of his tiny tiny cards to the graveyard had me in stitches the first time, and at that moment i was like "oh this guy is definitely in my brain now. uh oh." we're coming up on the one year anniversary in a couple weeks. of the Aporiaing. god bless. also shoutout to his entire Tag Force 6 storyline which just makes me insane from start to finish. he fixes your fridge.

14. How long have you been in the fandom?

only started dabbling in ygo fan circles since around March 2021, when i got back into yugioh and it was hitting my brain like a truck :') though ive been fond of yugioh itself for. um. well its about 20 years now behehe...it feels a lot like coming home, being lost in the ygo sauce again. ♥

15. How did you get into YGO?

WELL. NOT TO SOUND TEN THOUSAND YEARS OLD BUT back in like 2001-2002 when i was like 7 or so, kids wb used to air a block of cartoons in the afternoons, not just on saturday mornings, so theyd just be showing johto era pokemon and duelist kingdom era ygo on weekdays at like 3ish, and i'd come home from school and watch them, since i didnt have cable-- i have super vivid memories especially of watching the yugi vs. kaiba castle rooftop duel this way. and that was just the genesis of it for me, kinda just got grabbed by ygo from a very early age. DK is still sooo nostalgic to me cuz of this..those episodes feel so cozy for me.

anyway then in february 2021 i was talking in a call about how two of my OCs reminded me of rex and weevil and then i was like "god i want to watch yugioh so fucking bad now" and so at like 3am i started rewatching duel monsters season 4 and. well. smash cut four yugioh series later and baby i am In It and the ygo is In Me. extremely thankful <3
