What’s your favourite musical number from American idiot? (And also is there anything you’d like to infodump from the show?)

THIS IS SUCH A LOADED QUESTION IM GONNA BE HERE A MINUTE (spoiler warnings ig and also i talk about death and suicide a tad so tw for anyone concerned abt that)

so like. my first thought was death of st jimmy bc that scene HITS SO HARD and it’s my fav part in the Green Day album as well.

THE HARMONIES ???? IT GETS ME. i love when in songs all the instruments stop suddenly and it’s just the singer yknow ?? so I love that moment sm. and it adds so much impact. aLSO the death of st jimmy in the la proshot is all the more better bc it shows Johnny killing jimmy himself (vs the idea of jimmy dying by suicide because he knows that he’s no good to Johnny now yknow ??)

(This next part is me just rambling about jimmy)

But truthfully, any jimmy related content hits with me in the show because (for personal reasons that I don’t feel comfortable exposing) i very VERY well see how jimmy is both separate and the same as Johnny? (like how the color cream is white but also a totally different color, yknow?) I love seeing how jimmy interacts with johnny, and how he reacts to things happening around them.

in know your enemy, jimmy literally hands johnny a weapon (at least in any clip I’ve seen), trying anything to push (or even get rid of) whatsername. mental illness thrives off of loneliness, so that scene resonates HARD.

i saw a bootleg of letter bomb and you notice how even though whatsername isn’t theoretically “doing” anything to jimmy, you see him stumble and look pained (at least when bja was jimmy, so idk if this was all of them). when she screams “wake up!” at him, you see him fall, because it’s as if she’s pulling him from her.

Anyways I coul talk abt this show all night but I need to sleep. Thank you for letting me blah fucking blah for a minute anon :)
