<p>Your face turned into one of disgust as you drank the tea, it tasted horrible and made your stomach instantly turn as you swallowed it.</p>

<p>You usually spent your afternoons helping Reiji with whatever he needed and then you two would share a cup of tea as you read some sort of book, afterwards you'd share opinions on the books you were reading.</p>

<p>Reiji instantly noticed your reaction, asking you what was wrong- after you gave him your cup he smelled it, realizing he accidentaly used one of his poisonous teas instead of the normal tea you'd drink, his eyes opening wide as he saw how your face went pale and you became dizzy.</p>

<p>You woke up, your head aching and your whole body felt as if you had fallen of a 10th floor, being extremely painful to move, you moved your head to see the clock; 04:40 AM- how long had you passed out? There was a surum holder with the needle injected in your hand, and a few medicines on your night stand.</p>

<p>You fell back asleep, until the morning rays woke you up.</p>

<p>Feeling better, you went downstairs -after taking a bath and changing clothes-  to do your usual routine with Reiji, surprised when he didn't even greet you, giving you the cold shoulder as he kept on with his stuff, after trying to get his attention to no avail, you got tired once he slapped your hands off of the table, giving him a dirty stare as you turned and left, deciding to go to the Living Room to read a book or at least clear your mind.

Was he upset with you? After all the poison tea stuff was his fault, not yours- but you knew how unfair Reiji was sometimes, since he saw everyone as dumbasses. Sitting in the dark couch, you read a book as you felt slowly how sleepy you were, after all your body was still sore, opting to leave the book in the table across you to take a nap.

As you slept, a shadow approached you, blonde messy hair getting on top of your body as it joined your slumber.

You were woken up by your lungs huting from trying to properly let you breath, 65k on top of your body- opening your eyes, you met two sleepy blue eyes staring at your face, fangs poking through his lips as his eyes slowly went from your face to your neck. Before you could even try to push him off of you he took your wrists and pinned them over your head, his mouth going to your neck, opening a new wound as your blood filled his mouth. 

You began squirming trying to take him off of you, him only biting harder until you stopped moving, too tired to keep fighting back. You knew he was just doing this to despise Reiji, and he saw you two he'd be even more pissed at you- at you knew how bad things got whenever a Sakamaki got pissed, specially since you were nothing but a fragile human compared to their inhuman strength and power.

As Shu retreated his face from your neck, with his usual uninterested face he went to attack over your collarbone, biting down, repeating the proccess until you felt lightheaded, multiple fresh wounds adorning your neck, you slowly loosing consciousness, not even realizing when his lips were on yours, the taste of your own blood invading your tongue, but you were too far gone, blacking out in the middle of the kiss.

Getting bored of kissing your limp body, Shuu got up and left, leaving you passed out in the couch.

After noticing your long absence, Reiji began searching the Mansion for you, after all he was angry at himself, but looking at you and remembering how he almost killed you hurt his ego too much, knowing specially how you'd forgive him.

Walking down the hall, Shuu was sleeping on a room with the door open, getting inside to see if you were there he instantly felt the scent of your blood coming from Shuu's form, but you were nowhere to be seen, feeling his blood boil, he got out and went to the Living Room, finding you sitting on the couch, eyes lost as you tried to get up, but in his blind rage he didn't even consider your current state; grabbing your face with his gloved hand and seeing the drool mixed with blood running down your lips, the multiple bites and your clothes all wrinkly he let go of your face, and before you could muster a word he slapped you, hard enough to make you fall of the sofa.

Was all he said before leaving the room, leaving you on the floor trying to understand what had happened. Against your body begging for rest at the lack of blood, you got up and went behind Reiji, ocassionaly falling to the floor as you finally found him on the kitchen, brewing some tea- leaning against the counter you tried to explain to him what had happened, and how you weren't angry at the tea incident, tears falling from your eyes as you tried to reason with him.

He turned to see you, his mind conflicted. His gloved hand went to caress your face, as he opened his mouth to speak, everything went black, your body giving up after the significant lack of blood.</p>

Summary - Jack tends to let his eys linger on you. For the right reasons

Jack tends to stare off into space when his mind wanders.

Maybe it was a habit that he's had since he was young, not being able to focus on one thing instead of several things. Or maybe it was his anxiety that would step in from time to time when things got tough. His eyes would simply sit on one object and his mind would just....take a trip so to speak.

Of course he had things on his mind, being a werewolf was one of them. For most of his time having this curse Jack was worried. Worried about huting another being, worried about being seen as simply a monster when he knew deep down he wasn't, worried that his future was so uncenrtain. Worry flooded his life and he hated it, but he never showed it with his clients or other monster hunters he would encounter and work with.

That's where you came in.

Your monster-hunting reputation was not as famous as Jack's, but it was good enough to be on the radar when you two connected. He saw you as intimidating when you talked to him with daggers on your thighs and hips and your eyes drilling his, you were more forward in what was on your mind and how you were thorough. Yet on your end, you saw how gentle he was and more empathetic with any monsters he would hunt. It made you realize you both were so opposite from one another.

No wonder you fell for another so hard and so quick.

Jack found you reading a book, curled up in your shared bed one late spring night as the soft pattern of rain was heard on your rooftop. You loved having the window open to hear the rain, and as you flipped to another page in your book and hummed to yourself, Jack zoned out yet again.

But in the best way, with a soft gaze in his eyes and on his smiling lips

Once you two got together, you brought out the opposite or another another to make your hearts whole and as one. For Jack, you brought out his boldness and his directive communication, although you did love his endearing and meek moments since it showed the kinder and vulnerable sides of Jack.

Jack brought out the softer side of you, the side you buried for some time since you've lost so much in such a small time. He knew you were kind and broken at the same time, and over time he showered you with love and with affection. The kind you never thought you had and would ever get in your life. It scared you to get that from him, and yet you welcome it since you knew Jack was a dime a dozen, and you could never let him go.

He'd never let you go either.

"What are you staring at?"

Jack blinked, noticing that you were staring at him with your book now in your lap. He had to grin widely, shaking his head since he saw you give him a small look of concern.

"Nothing at all, just the most beautiful girl in the world, Amor," He answered, you grinning as he walked over to sit with you in bed, "And to think of what I can get you for our anniversary coming up,"

"I didn't think monster hunters who are dating get each other an anniversary gift, at least I didn't remember learning that," You joked as he leaned over and pecked your cheek.

"Well consider this a lesson then," He smoothly replied, taking the book from your lap while he was still kising your cheek, then moved to kiss your jawline and then down to your neck. You knew he was disracitng you, and he was somewhat wokring since you were feeling your breath get shorter and your pulse quicken. You leaned into him, feeling one of his hands reach up then to cradle your neck and moved your jaw for a better angle to kiss your pulse point.

You never thought you be a vulnerable mess at the hands of another monster hunter.

"It looks like I'm getting a distraction and not a lesson," You teased, though it was out of breath and almost a whimper as he kissed a sensitive spot along your skin. He chuckled, the stubbed on his chin and cheek grazing your neck was almost a bit too much.

"Lesson number one: how to properly love a monster hunter," Jack whispered in your ear as he then wrapped you in his arms and you two sunk into the bed with ease.

I would like to very gently, and respectfully disagree about Maria not being at fault for going after Michael after she knew that Alex was feeling hopeful. The incident in TX was clearly just some drunken hookup and she didn't know at that point and when she did she promised it wouldn't happen again.

The first issue I see is that IF she "fell in love" with Michael (which is debatable and will be my 2nd point), once she knew that Alex didn't just still have lingering feelings but was feeling hopeful about things with Michael, she should have taken a step back. Alex is supposed to be her best friend, not Michael so just because Michael says it's over doesn't mean that Alex isn't still thinking something is going to happen. At the very least there should have been some conversations happening (since they are all adults and Maria now knows Michael and Alex have a decade of history, they aren't just some 14 year-olds with a 3-month long crush) before Maria basically decided to burn her bridges with Alex over Michael. (Not that the show let that happen, but the fact that it didn't is one of the major problems with the triangle anyway which was down to the writing)

The second issue, is that we're told that she "fell" for Michael, and was willing to risk her friendship Alex by going after him, but there is not a single instance while they are together that I can think of where she seems to want Michael around when it's not about sex or him coming to save her from a flat tire (and we don't see that anywhere in season 1 either except for one throwaway line after Noah possessed her). If she was so into him, enough to risk her life-long friendship with Alex, we should have seen her being excited to be around Michael, and wanting to hear what he has to say, and not just staring blankly any time he tries to open up or distracting him with sex so she doesn't have to have an actual conversation with him. If they were going to do a "love triangle" (already a dumb thing with the storyline, but that's not the point here) there should have been stakes, and if they wanted to emphasize that Malex are connected like Echo are, Alex should have ended up being a priority. But then Maria couldn't have been the one bossing everyone around and in total control of the situation at all times which seems to be what the want her character to be, in which case the love triangle should have been between her and two love interests she was trying to choose between, not putting her in the middle of two people we know are "cosmic".

You absolutely do not have to publish this, btw, I just don't see, with what we got on screen, that there was any way Maria was actually into Michael Guerin as a person, not just an idea of the kind of boy-toy she wanted, so her being willing to risk her friendship with Alex over something so shallow and refusing to engage any of them in a meaningful, adult conversation beforehand is absolutely something she should be faulted for.

Nonnie,the point I was trying to make with that whole post was that the show allows Maria to make choices, wrong ones, and she's not accountable for any of them like evry other character.

Now, you're probably right, if I did use the words she was in love with Michael- she clearly wasn't at the time. Better words would have been that she thought she could have something with him.

A few points-

M!luca was a bit (maybe a lot) toxic. I absolutely agree with you in that the show "told" us she liked him and that this wasn't backed up by her actions. I absolutely HATED how she treated Michael throughout their relationship. And that was the writers' fault more than anything.

The triangle shouldn't have been a thing, I agree with that too and I think I even said it, but since it happened, I also said that it should have been handled better and should have ultimately served in Malex' favor instead of treating them like they never even happened in order to prop up M!luca.

I welcome any and all disagreements, but I still stand by what I said. I'm not Maria's biggest fan, not by a long shot. And, me personally, I don't think I would never go after someone my friend was in love with, and you seem to be of the same opinion, but the truth is, at least for me, I've never been in that position, so I don't know if I would ever do it.

Maria was in the wrong when she didn't have a frank conversation with Alex about it, when she lied to his face, but- Michael was an idiot (I love the guy but he made some pretty questionable choices here) who chased after her even though he was in love with Alex. She thought they had a shot. Expecting her to be so selfless that she would ignore that opportunity of happiness, with someone who she'd seen a different side of at least according to what the show told us, just because of Alex's feelings, which as far as she knew (talking about season 1 here) were not actively returned, could be a bit unrealistic.

I'm not defending her actions, God knows I hated season 2 and only ever acknowledged episodes 2x04 and 2x11 with a couple Malex scenes lol, but what I wanted, what I've always loved in shows, was to see characters making wrong choices, and to watch them fix them.

Sure, my first option would have been to have her step down for Alex, but choosing to go after Michael wasn't the biggest mistake imo. What was the biggest mistake (like I mentioned) was her barely acknowledging Alex's feelings, outright ignoring them, even. The biggest mistake was the way the show handled the love triangle. The biggest mistake was the show painting Maria as this amazing, perfect friend, without showing us this, and then we see her do all that shit without so much as one word from anyone about how much she could have been huting Alex.

What was a mistake was having Alex's reaction be a totally passive thing and so OOC (again, this is just my opinion) just to paint Maria in a good light.

Maria wasn't the only one to make mistakes. Both Michael and Alex have, too.

The only difference is, both Michael and Alex were called out for theirs, while hers were swept under the rug like they didn't even happen.
