👋 I have a silly question (SH)

If Sun, Moon, Eclipse, Lunar, Pluto etc. watched a horror movie, who would be more scared?

I could imagine how jumpy Eclipse would be- also the thought of Eclipse and Star Holder having movie nights, warms my heart.

I wanted to quickly say all of them will react differently to different types of movies! :0

For example: Eclipse isn't bothered by slashers, but he's really frightened by paranormal/ghost films! Especially things like Veronica <3

Moon is generally unbothered by horror, but he likes psychological thrillers/horror.

Pluto doesn't like horror. <3 She doesn't understand the appeal. (She's very soft)

Sun is more bothered by slashers than paranormal stuff. He (ironically) doesn't believe in ghosts.

Lunar LOVES horror. He takes a lot of inspo for his illusions from scary stories/legends! He'd be really into all things horror (though he's not crazy about overly gory stuff.)

Hmmm just gonna spit this headcanon out in text post form since A. I don't think I could exposit it well enough in image form and B. It's not actually textually/thematically substantiated and I don't like actually staking my stuff on just vibes alone*

But anyway. I'd say it's pretty evident that all the islanders forgot their names, right? King obviously. Because why the hell else would he do that, but also Siffrin No Middle Names No Last Name.

They're 'pretty sure' they've 'always' been 'Just Siffrin' 'as long as they can remember'. It's a pretty cruel twist of the knife to say that they don't even get to keep their birth name as a memento, which is why I'm saying as such.

My utterly unsubstantiated claim is I think it'd be cute to say that Sisyphus *is* the name Siffrin initially picked, assuming the myth of King Sisyphus is recontextualised as idk, just a play or something in the setting. But I like the idea of Siffrin going 'oh shit 🫵 he's just like me fr' at a tortured fictional character long before the irony kicks in.

As for how Sisyphus -> Siffrin. I think that chronic mumbler and emotional doormat Sif just did not correct people who misheard the name during their time travelling, and went through enough places with incompatible phonologies (pronounceable sounds in the language) without ever really writing it down that it just got kinda. Changed until it was unrecognisable, and Siffrin just went with it until the earlier pronunciations slipped out of their swiss-cheese brain. And they just kinda don't remember any of that.

Also, something something the horrid realisation that Siffrin also named themselves after a King. Just not as blatantly.

*(though I think there's something here about Siffrin, a guy from a belief system that seems to thoroughly disincentivise autonomy and self-motivated choice continuously having their hand forced to make changes/choices they don't want but have no choice but to... It's not solid enough to really back this up tbh, but it informs it.)

The Aberration has sun rays??

The rays aren’t layered like Eclipse’s are, so they have to be like Sun’s, right?

Sun’s are yellow. The opposite of yellow is… purple…

Also! Aberration in biology means a change from what’s normal. And the example google uses? Color aberrations.

What could be more different than changing the color to its opposite on the color wheel? What can be more different than a god of light and a demon of darkness?

Does this mean that the Aberration has some sort of connection to the sun gods? But he couldn’t have come into existence *after* the first gods were created, right? Wouldn’t he have to have existed before then?

Unless… the Star Mother is older than the Aberration… but that wouldn’t make sense. Didn’t Afton say that the Aberration existed as a sort of balance to counter the good of the Star Mother? Perhaps I interpreted his words incorrectly… what could this mean?

Am I just over-analyzing a design detail, or is there actually more here than what meets the eye?

Oh I absolutely love this!!! I love star holder and you’ve done a wonderful job portraying eclipse and the star holder’s outfit is so swaggy too!! In love.

I made fanart for @justaduckarts fic One Who Holds A Star on Ao3 please read it! It is literally one of my fave fics right now!! Eclipse’s outfit is based off of the one they had design along with being heavily influenced but outfits I saw at the rein fair before I started working on this! (For Star Holder I later realized I could have gone off of Aurelia’s outfit instead of designing my own but I was already too far in lol) Also gave them long hair also because of rein fair ppl just had longer hair in the past.

“Cramps,” you sigh, grimacing at the twinge in your stomach as if it’s taunting you. “It’s like…my abdomen is wringing itself dry of all the blood. Not very comfortable.”

“Well then,” Eclipse says, pulling you closer into his embrace. It earns a wonderful squeak from you. “I can’t be returning you in soiled robes! No, that would be quite rude. Come, I’ll take you back to my temple to freshen up and do something about those pesky cramps.

Or: Eclipse helps you with menstrual cramps and comforts you :]

this was intended to be a short drabble but here we are 3.6k words later. oh well, i like how it turned out! very fluffy, worth the read id think!
