So Saturday I've got a call from the hospital, less than 24 hours after the blood cultures were taken that they came back positive. So I had to go to the ER to took more blood cultures and start iv antibiotics. I'll be on vancomycin iv for probably 6 weeks.. But my doctor arranged I can do it at home, so Friday I'll probably be allowed to go home on iv antibiotics. Today I heard they planned my revision surgery for next week, but it's postponed because of the infection, it would be a to big of a risk.. The S. aureus turned the Mannitol Salt Agar yellow because it used the mannitol, and the S. epidermidis stayed pink because it didn't use the mannitol but used peptides...
