Okay, here are some of my favs, but I'm still making my way through the tag!!

What We Used To Be - By fractured_hourglass (M)

Here's one of the fics I first read when I got into stancest, it broke into my home and tore my heart apart with its angst but it was so GOOD???? SO fucking good, great angst, spectacular writing and characterization. It takes place between stanchurian candidate and last mabelcorn, so don't expect a happy ending in the first part, BUT it's insanely good. The summary is that Stan and Ford are trying to learn to live together again, but they keep fighting, and implications that they were something more...makes everything worse. And when Jimmy Snakes, an old fling of Stan's is back in town, Ford gets more and more irritable until shit hits the fan. There is also a part 2 now that wraps everything up nicely!

Any Way You Want It - By Pandame (E)

An untraditional A/B/O fic that is deliciously hot. Ford comes out of the portal...different.

Miss Missing You - By theywerefireworks (E)

A fic post weirdmageddon where Ford tries to make Stan remember their shared memories together--even if they aren't all that pretty.

Mmm, well currently I'm reading mainly Gravity Falls fics so I'll list those ^^ Beneath a cut though as they're mainly explicit rating.

Treasure and Babes {Side Stan} by MurmaiderII - A Gravity Falls Reader/Stanley Pines fic. There's also another one called {Side Ford} but I really like Stan's route better. It shows a nice glimpse into Stan's self-consciousness about his age and attractiveness, plus the wacky shenanigans that he goes through with how unhinged and random Reader can be. It's good for a laugh ^^

Happy Pills (How much is happiness worth to you?) by Fearful_little_thing - Another Gravity Falls fic but stancest with a reuniting after years apart but with a 'I need money to accomplish my dream, here's a drug recipe' twist. The prose is really good and engaging, plus how the interaction is written between Stan ('Andrew') and Ford gives me vague nilchance ATTL vibes. I just love a confident Stan and inexperienced Ford dynamic lol

Theseus' Guide to Ruining a Perfectly Good Boat by stump_not_found - A Gravity Falls Billford fic that surprisingly focuses a lot on the family dynamic. Bill is portrayed as a complete wacko and I adore it, how he and Ford interact and just flow off of each other so effortlessly even when at each other's throats is the kind of natural chemistry I love and it's executed so well!

Fildick AU (not linking due to reasons) - A very dark fic series dealing with CSA and recovery in comic form. It's the origin story to a popular AU Stan called 'Evil Stan', but from what's posted it's mainly centered around his brother Ford. This series is very cathartic to the point I've had to take a step back and cry while mid-read. If anyone ever needs a really dark story with relatable characters and a young Fiddleford with a heart of gold I'd point them here.

Wild Uncharted Waters by Fourshadesofgreen - Another stancest fic which I can't stop raving about to anyone willing to hear me. Siren Ford is best Ford and I didn't know I needed him in my life until I read this. A wonderful taste of greek-ish storytelling with complex themes I just can't get over how heartbreaking and yet enchanting this story is. I was constantly left questioning on if the Siren was really Ford or not oof <3

And of course two honorable mentions I have that are pure Undertale fics but that I ALWAYS go back to in order to enjoy all over again:

Creep by KenyaKetchup(temptedmelibea) - Frans that is not Frans dark fic. I always love Frisk and Sans the most and they are my UT OTP so I naturally devour any and practically all stories with them in it. But this one is also as cathartic to me just as Fildick AU is. Also dealing with CSA and the effect it has on Frisk, it leaves you stunned at just how Sans can rationalize certain things. Truly the fandom 'Lolita' just with lots more self-awareness and guilt on Sans' part than you'd see with Humbert.

And of course Burlesque by you, as you never fail to show the kind of intimacy that makes me smile with every interaction by Red, Dance, and Lust. How effortlessly you write it and convey a healthy poly relationship is fiction goals to me <3 I'm very into how tsundere Dance is and how big of a teddy bear Red can be, plus a lonely and very loving Lust is just peak.

AN ASK YIPPEE!!!! I lovvveee these, I am always happy to give fic recs! It's called Say What You Mean (Tell Me I'm Right) by Fearful_little_thing

Its honestly what has lead me to my obsession with 20s-30s age Stans specifically and cemented how I think Stan would view his sex work during that Era. I was already falling in love with the idea of prostitute/Sex Worker Stan as a concept before I stumbled upon this fic but this fic completely cemented it into my personal cannon. What's got me so feral is how strikingly in-character Ford is written? Like they get his accidentally cruel ignorance/selfishness down perfectly without like making it a dark!ford caricature. He's self focused and is a selfish lover but it isn't malicious nor is it lack of love or care of Stan, it's legitimate misunderstanding and lack of communication between the both of them. It mixes and bubbles into this terrible tragic comedy of Stan dancing around Ford without him realizing it. Stan is also wonderfully written too. Someone deeply down to earth in the worst kinda way, and the fear that's written into him rings so true to me when it comes to how Stan was during his late 20s early 30s. How Stan felt when seeing Ford again after so long. Stan also says Trans rights in the fic so thats another plus <3 ITS ALSO, VERY HOT. The smut is exquisite with perfect pacing and emotion behind it you can't go wrong. PLEASE READ IT AND BE CRAZY WITH ME ABOUT IT PLEASE I BEG ITS UNREASONABLY GOOD.

🧡 "The Guardian" by cellard00rs. Stanford travels back in time to check on Stan during his drifter years. I did some trad sketches of this fanfics, I gotta ink them digitally one of these days. 💛 "Brand New", unfortunately by Anonymous. I won't tell you anything, it's best to go into this one blind- I'll just say it got my favorite brand of fucked-up, opportunistic, dark Ford.

💚 "Learning Commons" by Frondere. AU with so much going on, so many elements to keep you hooked...There's many chapters too, so if you're into something rich and lengthy to read, this is ideal! 💙 "Tough as Nails" by sixerstanley. If you enjoy intense, deep exploration of the Stans' feelings, thoughts and relationship, you'll love this one! There's so much tension, and then tenderness, it's such a great read.

💜 "stay (it doesn't have to hurt)" again by calciseptine. Okay, this one doesn't actually get to any Stancest, as it stops at chapter one, but is SO GOOD. Especially if, like me, you love drifter Stan, you should read it. It's just that good.

🖤 "The Pull Of You" by an orphaned account, sadly. The way they're written as teenagers here is so authentic and natural. The intimacy, the tension, the desire, the daily rituals.... Pretty great read, but get ready for the heartbreak at the end.

It's what made me obsessed with 30s era Stans and Sex-Worker Stanley like it's a fucking classic to me. I will also give a obligatory DevilsPedicure Mention because THEIR fics are also deeply wonderful and classics to me. If you want a easy one of theirs to digest I suggest Tu sei il mio tramonto ! I love their use of the temperature metaphors and their use of locations always wow me. OKAY, ENOUGH FIC RECS. I GOT THEORIES DAMNIT !! I've literally been walking around my house trying to figure out how to answer this ask because I have Theories about why Andy is so hot. I PROMISE, I am also figuring out that Character Analysis Essay SO THIS IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE OF THAT. Analysis under the cut

SO, Grunkle Stan is attractive. Like that's already well established and I assume a lot of stancesties have similar tastes as me when it comes to what Makes Stan attractive. Stan is attractive for multiple reasons. The writing of Gravity Falls did extremely well when it came to writing his character both on a surface level and on a deeper level. On the surface hes a grumpy old Crook who's willing to do anything for a buck, but when you get to know him deeper. When you actually understand his motivations, that persona becomes charming in of itself. The core of Stan's character, to me at least, is his kindness and relatability. That is what is endearing and in turn, attractive about him. His genuine love for people he considers family, his willingness to do anything for them, his relatability when it comes to his struggles and even dedication to the people around him. I could go on for why Stan is attractive, this is JUST the main idea. By extension, this also applies to Andy. So, what is the actual difference between Andrew and Stanley? You'd think I'd say their outward charm right? However, I am not convinced that's what's actually different. Because like, look at Cannon Stan. He's run multiple successful cons (to be any kind of sales person takes the genuine ability to charm people, I should know I lived with a sales person for my entire life lol), the citizens of gravity falls goes to all his events (which could be small town syndrome, but also why does everyone still hang out there when they Know Stan? Cause they like him! Ignore the memory gun for the love of god), and so on. Like! He's genuinely endearing to people when he isn't trying super hard. So, AGAIN, i ask, what is actually different? It's ruthlessness.

Andrew is kind, but its more selective. He is genuinely willing to ruin people's lives if it means he gets what he wants. He has soft spots, but it's protected. Less on his sleeve when compared to Stanley. And it's because he is willing to actually hurt people if it means success. Time and Time again we see Stan be willing to bend his rules if it means allowing the people in his circle to be happy. Andrew is well, Not willing to bend. He is willing to be the worst of mankind if it means he gets to be successful. If it means he gets to live as he wants. And that my friend, is what makes him so attractive. You can see a similar pattern of how Ruthlessness, and in a softer version ambition, is attractive in fictional characters. Like take the Dark Fiction of Booktok. Often times it follows the trope of "Super powerful/Dangerous man is really really really into the main character", and Andy fits right into that. He has all the things that make Stan interesting and enjoyable, on top of fulfilling the fanatasy of someone who is Willing to kill for a single person. Willing to do the worst things known to man for a single human being and will do it again if it means keeping that person happy and safe. He loves Ford, obsessed with him even, and the idea of putting that onto yourself? The idea of being the center of the world of a Man who will kill and harm anyone who dares even looks at you wrong. Yeah, that's hot!

I love the idea, but I'm not having much luck finding anything. I saw some art/comics I really liked a while back and when I finally found it again saw that it was stancest..... no thanks.

And I like Rick and all, but..... No. Stanchez is not for me. I don't dig slash, sorry. 😕
