SCTIR Translation - Chapter 470: Letter (1)
If Yoohyun were a regular college student, he'd be at the age for things like this. They do say college students go out drinking a lot, don’t they?
Chapter translation under the cut.
---
Chapter 470: Letter (1)
My head throbbed. I thought about activating Poison Resistance but decided to let it be. Who knew when I'd have the chance to experience a hangover again? It would be hard to drink as much as I did last night. Besides, I wanted to linger in this dazed state a bit longer.
'... How embarrassing.'
I hugged a large pillow and buried my face in it. Even with my head still foggy, the events of yesterday replayed vividly in my mind. From start to finish, there wasn't a single thing that didn't make me cringe.
'Was I already drunk by the time I was at the lounge?'
I might've been. I had finished a full glass of wine, after all. And last night… um. I'd planned to only drink enough to get a little tipsy, because I'd been afraid of saying nonsense. But the wine had been surprisingly good, and the subtle buzz had felt pleasant.
'There's nothing wrong with liking someone, is there?'
I had apparently kept saying that over and over. Along with things like, 'What's so bad about it? It's better than hating someone, right?' Ughhh, why were my memories so vivid? Yoohyun kept agreeing with everything I said, Myungwoo fussed over me telling me to eat snacks while drinking, and Noah told me, "I like you too, Yoojin-ssi"... Even Yerim tried to sneak in with Gyeol at some point, but I had chased them out immediately.
Then Yoohyun had said I seemed too drunk and helped me to the bedroom. And then… I vaguely remembered saying there was some wine left and suggesting that we finish it off. At the very end, I'd felt unsatisfied and decided to turn off Poison Resistance to feel more drunk, which must have been why I had blacked out.
Hopefully I hadn't said anything weird. Just in case, I quickly checked my keyword registration list. 'Han Yoohyun'—his name was still there. Okay, everything seemed fine.
'…I should drink in moderation from now on.'
I struggled to lift my head and saw my little brother sleeping next to me. He had taken off his jacket, but his tie was only loosely undone. For some reason, the sight made me feel strangely happy. If Yoohyun were a regular college student, he'd be at the age for things like this. They do say college students go out drinking a lot, don't they?
I would be telling him things like, 'What'd you drink so much for? But at least you made it home,' then helping him wash up and putting him to bed. Although last night, I'd gotten drunk with him too… Still, I thought Yoohyun had only been slightly tipsy. Had he drunk more after I blacked out? …Surely I hadn't pushed him to drink more, right?
I activated Poison Resistance and sat up. Maybe it was because the type of alcohol last night had been special, but I could still feel a faint hint of a hangover lingering.
'…Now that my head's clearing up, I feel even more embarrassed.'
How ridiculous must I have looked? An F-rank shouting at an S-rank—no, at the strongest human—saying I'd help him whether he liked it or not, and that I'd drag him back if he tried to run.
Shit, how was I supposed to face Sung Hyunje now? Or Hyuna-ssi, or Director Song… ughhh.
But still, I didn't actually regret it. Even if I went back to that moment now, I would say the same things. Though maybe I'd act a bit more composed.
'Yeah, it's what I want to do. So what?'
Pushing others to live well could also be a selfish act, if it wasn't something they agreed with. And there was no guarantee that everything would work out. But Sung Hyunje had told me to act selfishly first, so it didn't matter, right? I was just giving him what he asked for, so he had no right to complain. Regardless of what else he'd tell me or how things would turn out!
Suddenly, I remembered Sung Hyunje's past comment about people being able to act after establishing a firm foundation, or whatever he'd said. That had also happened at a hotel, though not this one. I certainly hadn't had much faith in myself back then.
What I had faith in... was what my brother had given me. Skills that were mine but that I couldn't truly call mine. Things I had obtained with those skills.
'The me without those things…'
I had liked Chloe not only because I was a fan of her broadcasts, but because she acknowledged effort regardless of rank. She had treated even the information that an F-rank obtained from clearing a dungeon as useful. Setting aside comparisons with others, just looking at myself as an F-rank hunter, I'd had pretty decent skills too. I'd sold quite a few tips to Do Hamin at a good price. Since my environment had been harsh, I had needed to work harder both physically and mentally, which naturally made me accumulate more experience than others.
So I thought that if I met Hunter Chloe and talked with her, she might recognize my worth... Ah, looking back now, it was a bit embarrassing. But it was with that mindset that I had even applied to appear on her show before.
'But the first thing she said was that she disliked the current me.'
Maybe her opinion would change if she knew the full story, but even without that…
'It's not a bad thing.'
It had shocked me at first, but now I felt kind of glad. That someone had expressed criticism of the post-regression Han Yoojin. The current me was admittedly better. If you asked a hundred people, every single one of them would agree that the current Han Yoojin was better. But the past me—the me who'd had nothing—had also worked hard.
'The me in the other world is probably living well too.'
Even without a single special skill. And, though that version of me wasn't F-rank anymore, still being low-ranked at best.
So maybe even just the 'I' that had nothing was worth trusting a little. I shouldn't let myself waver every time Sung Hyunje acted up. …Though not wavering would be difficult. But at least I was sure of what I wanted to do.
Even if Sung Hyunje really ended up leaving.
'…It still pisses me off.'
He was the one who had erased the label for me in his contacts and handed the phone to me. Accepting the title of partner and saying he would wait for me even if I was still lacking. Hey, it hasn't even been a year yet! Forget a year—it hasn't even been six months! It had been August 30th then and it was only November now! Even financial performance was usually assessed quarterly, and he couldn't even wait three months?! If you count the altered time flow in dungeons, we might be at the three-month mark by now, but still!
I really should have grabbed him by the collar properly. Though I probably would've ended up looking like I was clinging and hanging off him.
"…Hyung?"
As I was hitting the innocent pillow, Yoohyun opened his eyes.
"It's nothing. You can sleep more," I said.
My little brother groggily sat up and loosened his tie completely, running a hand through his disheveled hair.
"...It's unpleasant," he said.
"What, the hangover? Yeah, I guess it's your first one."
The alcohol strong enough to affect S-ranks had only just come out, and back in the dungeon, there hadn't been many opportunities to drink comfortably.
"It doesn't feel good, huh?" I said.
"I don't mean now," Yoohyun replied. "But last night, even though I wasn't that drunk, I felt like I wasn't fully in control."
"Hmm? But it doesn't seem like anything went wrong? Nothing got broken."
The alcohol wasn't that strong yet, so of course the S-rank Yoohyun, and even I when I had my Poison Resistance active, had only gotten tipsy at best.
"It'd be fine if I was on my own, but I could have hurt you, hyung."
"Hey, I've got Grace, remember? If you're that worried, I'll make sure to keep Grace active whenever we drink together."
"Also, I didn't like feeling like I was under the influence of a mental skill. Even if the effect wasn't that strong, I'm not going to drink anymore."
"Really? I was kind of hoping we could have a drink together sometimes."
"Only with you, hyung, only at home. Somewhere where it's definitely safe." Yoohyun frowned slightly, looking utterly against the idea of drinking anywhere else. "What about you, hyung? Are you feeling okay?"
"Me? Yeah, I actually kinda feel better." I pushed through my embarrassment and continued, "I know I probably said this yesterday, but I still think it's fine to like whatever or whomever you want. No matter how it turns out."
Because liking people and things brought joy and could even bring comfort. It was a positive feeling, in any case. Of course, you could also struggle because of it. I had. But even then, I didn't think I would regret any of it. Even if I were to lose it all once more, if I went back, I'd still end up liking them all again.[1]
I mean Sung Hyunje, too… He wasn't bad… well... he had put me through some crazy situations. Still, there'd been fun times too. That one time it had been delicious, yeah. That other time it had also been tasty. That one restaurant had suited my palate well. Naturally, Myungwoo's cooking was the best, but he fussed too much about my health. Though it really was amazing that healthy food could still taste that good.
"Of course, I shouldn't go falling head over heels and giving up my heart on a silver platter," I said. "But I'm going to do what I like."[2]
It wasn't a big change, but how should I put it? I guess I would focus more on prioritizing myself.
At my words, Yoohyun's expression became gloomier. "I understand, hyung. She's a foreigner, anyway."
"…What?"
"Park Yerim said that since she's a high-rank hunter and busy with work, she probably won't be able to visit Korea often anyway. Since I clear dungeons a lot too, a few days a month would probably be fine."
"Hey no, listen," I tried to cut in.
"But you can't ever be alone with her. Always take Peace with you. And write up a contract—"
"I told you I got rejected!"
What the hell was this kid talking about?
"And besides, she doesn't like me!" I added.
"There's no way a high-rank hunter would dislike you, hyung. You didn't do anything wrong, and it was your first time meeting her."
The Irreverent had also said that high-rank hunters tended to like people like me.
"Not everyone's going to like me," I replied. "And Chloe is connected to Park Hayul."
Yoohyun's mouth immediately snapped shut. I felt the atmosphere shift suddenly as his mood grew dangerous, so I quickly tried to intervene.
"She's already gone into hiding! I've already informed Director Song."
"... When did you find out?" he asked.
"Not long after we met her, I had some suspicions—hey, wait a second!"
Yoohyun grabbed me and pushed me face down onto the bed. Hey, what the hell!
"Look, there wasn't any dang—ow! Hey!"
"I thought the Sesung Guildmaster and Breaker Guildmaster were just going to spectate."
"Yoohy—ouch!" I yelped. That hurt!
"Hyung, because you said other people shouldn't interfere with your confession, I held back."
Yoohyun pressed down hard on my shoulders. It hurt so much that I couldn't hold back a pained cry. We were in the best room, so it was really spacious and the soundproofing should be good. But it seemed it wasn't good enough to block screams, because the door suddenly burst open.
"Yoojin-ah?"
"Yoojin-ssi!"
"It's just a simple massage," Yoohyun said casually. "I learned from a professional, so don't worry."
When did you learn that? Please don't tell me your teacher was Elder Chaos.
"Still, he looks like he's in a lot of pain," Noah-ssi commented with concern.
Yoohyun firmly replied, "Hyung did something dangerous again."
"Ah…"
"It's good for him," Myungwoo decided. "Yoojin-ah, you'll explain later, right?"
Myungwoo turned to leave, and Noah-ssi, though still looking a bit sorry, followed and closed the door behind him.
"No, ack! Aaaagh, Yoohyun, ow! Softer—!"
My goodness, you're killing your hyung, you rascal! It hurt so much I could cry, but at the same time, it did feel oddly refreshing. My brother looked down at me disapprovingly as I went completely limp.
"Ugh, it was just a suspicion, and I was cautious," I said. "Actually, I thought it'd be hard to find out for sure, so I was just going to probe a bit and tell you guys right away. But Chloe spilled everything before I could do that."
She'd said she had no intention of hiding it, but originally she probably planned to tell me and then leave right away. Maybe she would have written a letter and handed it to me at the airport just before departing. Saying something like, "Read this after I'm gone." Either way, it had been necessary to try to get some kind of confirmation. Thanks to that, we at least had a chance to catch her.
"Sung Hyunje figured it out before I even said anything, and Hyuna-ssi was there at the time too. You and Yerim would've been a bit obvious about it if you'd known. That's why I handled things that way, but it wasn't like I was intentionally keeping it from you."
"I understand. Maybe I should take acting lessons," Yoohyun said.
"You don't need to go that far… though it might be helpful."
It could be useful for social situations. Yoohyun's position was such that he had no need to perform in front of others, but it could be used in other ways. Like that time I got arrested. Though that hadn't seemed like acting.
I staggered out of bed, washed up, and went to the living room. Yerim had been staying in another room with Gyeol, but it seemed they had come over after hearing the news. Room service had also arrived in the meantime, and was set out on the table.
"I genuinely did like her. Even before the regression."
I gave them a brief explanation about Chloe. That I had liked her a lot, so my confession hadn't entirely been a lie.
"She did feel bad about using me," I added.
I relayed what Chloe said, leaving out the parts related to Sung Hyunje. As for Sung Hyunje... I'd have to meet him again and figure out his real intentions. Maybe ask for his help in catching Chloe. I wasn't sure if he would agree, but if he refused… I'd have to catch Sung Hyunje somehow, too.
"What's with her? It's kidnapping, plain and simple. Ajussi suffered so much!" Yerim grumbled in displeasure. "If she felt bad, she shouldn't have rejected you, either!"
"Well, personal and professional matters are different."
"Yoojin, you're not still hesitating, are you?" Myungwoo said, frowning slightly. "At the end of the day, she still hurt you. Just delivering that letter makes her a definite accomplice."
"That's right. Plus, the fact that she's connected to Huang Lin makes me uneasy," Noah-ssi seconded Myungwoo's words.
That was true. I pulled out the letter Huang Lin had sent from my inventory. I opened the envelope and...
"…It's in Chinese."
Did this jerk assume I'd naturally be able to read Chinese just because I was Korean? Come on, King Sejong invented Hangul to replace Chinese centuries ago. And this guy was still boldly writing to me in Chinese? Even the guy's letters were annoying.
"Should I call a translator? Anyone here know Chinese?"
I hesitated to call someone to help because of security concerns. Maybe I should ask Dr Hao Yuan?
"You could probably get the gist of it with a translation app," Yerim suggested, pulling out her phone.
"But I'd have to enter the characters manually, right?"
"Most apps can recognize writing on paper."
"Really?"
"Spread the letter out on the table," Yerim said.
I knew translation apps existed, but I didn't realize phones could even translate letters like this. Yerim held her phone over the letter, and soon, a translation appeared, though it was a bit clumsy.
---
Footnotes:
[1] This part reads awkwardly because in Korean the words Yoojin uses don't really distinguish between "things" and "people", whereas in English there's no good way to refer to both. I didn't want to simply gloss it as "people" (even though that's the most natural meaning here) because I think Yoojin does mean it in a general sense and because he's also indirectly giving advice to Yoohyun, who he knows doesn't distinguish between people and things when it comes to affection.
[2] "giving up one's heart on a silver platter" = 간도 쓸개도 다 빼주는 건 (lit. giving up one's liver and gallbladder). The Korean idiom means giving up everything for another, but unlike the romantic English expression I used, the Korean one can also be used in a platonic context and has more of a connotation of being overly self-sacrificing and willing to let yourself be taken advantage of.

Cooking classes are interesting -----Mingyu x reader.
before
Yn always likes to cook it was her favorite thing to do. So yn had always dreamt of opening a dine in in her neighborhood , for that she wanted to learn cooking professionally ..........so she applied for cooking classes in her area. KIM 'S KITCHEN is the famous cooking class in her neighborhood .
present
I woke up to a phone call ...I picked it up 'hello, who is this?' other side on the phone 'hello mam, its kim's kitchen and I called you regarding the class you have book yesterday, mam the class starts by 10 am sharp, so be on time mam, thankyou ' and she hanged up. I quickly came back to my senses started to get ready for the class.......'damnn, how can i forget about it , shit I don't want to be late on first day'. I wore this and began walking to the class.
'Shit, iam already 10 mins late ,common yn ' as i started to walk quickly to the class.... Finally i reached the class, as i opened the door, the lady near the registration spoke' mam , as you are 10mins late the teacher you have booked is full, and iam sorry you might have to book another teacher' i replied' really, I am only 10 mins late , can you please send me inside' the lady said' mam, I am really sorry ....we have another teacher who is available right now.....please let me know if you want to book the class.' i replied ' yes, i want to book it ' the lady replied ' sure mam, the class is on the second floor 4th room.....you may leave now' I replied' thankyou so much ' and went to the room that the lady mentioned before, i opened the door and iam in an empty room, i went inside 'hello, is there anyone here, iam the new student , hellooo' i shouted ..i got reply 'hey, the class starts in 1 hr , why are you here so early' ...i shouted again 'who is this and where are you??' right after that i got reply 'hey iam mingyu , your cooking teacher, and iam sitting on the floor near the last counter' after hearing that i went over there .....i saw mingyu
he is looking at his phone playing something.......i coughed a little to get his attention , he looked at me ,i spoke 'hello mingyu ssi , iam yn and iam your new student....nice to meet you' while maintaining eye contact.. he nodded and resumed his game again . I felt annoyed 'such an asshole !tck tck!! ' and walked to other counter far away from him. Slowly students came in and the class is full, now that arrogant asshole that is my teacher mingyu started to teach us ...today we are learning to cook basic dish egg and shrimp fried rice...as I have cooked it before for like 100 times..i started to cook in my style....mingyu is watching me from the other counter , he is slowly checking every students progress, and its my turn now...he came towards me and said' who are you?' after i heard it I was on the verge of loosing my cool ....i controlled it and answered in annoyed tone' hello mingyu ssi, I have already introduced myself before when you were playing your barbie dress up games'...he answered in the same tone' excuse me , I dont play dress up games... and let me see if this attitude act is still up after I taste your burnt fried rice ' he went back with a smirk on his face. I laughed to myself ' what a annoying brat ...arghh'. It is the time for tasting our fried rice...I dont know what got into me ...I ruined my fried rice....this asshole mingyu will definitely will point me out ....argghhh, what i have to do....okok cool lets face that brat and book another class tomorrow. After few students, my turn has arrived....look at that smirk on his face ...i wanna smash his face so badly .....he tasted my fired rice and gave me a evil smile ....shit Iam doomed now .he spoke ' attention everyone, never burn your fried rice like this ' while pointing my dish ...I felt so embarrassed and looked at him with a shock expression, he smiled at me and said' now, where is the attitude like before miss', i spoke' i will remember this asshole' with that I left the class.
I went to that reception lady and asked her to change my teacher but the lady spoke ' Mam , once you have completed your booking, you cant change the teacher mam.....either you should cancel your classes or attend the classes with the same teacher'.....I nodded my head and started to head out. I kept thinking about what happened before .....the more i think about it the more i feel annoyed....to removed this tension i went to the near by store to drink soju...i bought soju and some snacks ....I sat inside the store....poured soju for myself , took the first sip...ahh refreshing!!...after few glasses iam drunk now...I started to walk home , while walking i saw the poster kims kitchen with mingyu on it ...i quickly went over to that poster and stood their looking at him....' you fucking bastard , you spoiled my whole day...you dumb bitch...iam not going to leave you that easily.....take this punch ....you deserve more you asshole' as I am cursing him i heard someone talking to me ' hey woman, what are you doing ' I looked at him its mingyu ...I spoke' what a perfect timing sir....i was thinking about you, I wanted to give you something special' with that i went ran towards him with my fist in the air ...before i could punch him I passed out in front of him due to excessive drinking. he came near me as I was mumbling something
' yahh mingyu , you are going to be dead meat in my hands...wait till i punch you ' with that I slept. Mingyu looked at me smiling 'you look cute when your annoyed yn ' he spoke with a soft voice. he picked me up and started walking to home, he didnt know my address and ended up bringing me to his house. He removed my makeup and laid me on his bed ..he took a picture of me ' Tomorrow is going to be rough for me .....and i wont see this kind face tomorrow'..

The Nun and her Familiar (Gun x Reader)
Chap 2
Summary: Your third-year student is now summoning your own familiar and somehow you have summoned a literary hot-as-hell demon as your familiar. Your familiar, He is a sadistic man that loves to see your struggles when you're fighting monsters, he loves to see you squirm as he goes near you and especially when he mentions your "meat" is his favorite part.
He wonders when will give in to him
A/N: I am back! I am so burned out/too busy and out of ideas lol. as this also just fanfiction is just on a whim that I made! I probably shoud go back to drawing and stack every paragraph on this story. (being 3rd year in 2nd sem kicked my gear into lazy mode and busy catching up)
Warning: Implied NSFW(?)
________________________
Both of them arrive at the grand door beside the door there is a plate that is written ‘Place the Gifts and Letter for Head Priest DG here’ with an arrow that points down and you can see a lot of gifts, flowers, and letters being placed under a metal plate.
Y/n prepares herself to knock on the door, and Gun is at her back staring at Y/N's figure since they have left the summoning room.
'Her physic is definitely different from what I remember from those past centuries those nun/clerics are too fragile. As they are basically so easy to break when they are in a field battle as they mostly serve as buffer and healer.' Gun admires his new master body while comparing her to those weaklings that he has fought with centuries or decades ago.
Knock
Knock
Knock
“Come in”
Creeeeeek
"Good afternoon Head priest DG" Y/n open the door gently as she doesn't want to disturb him. Entering the room with Gun, and bow to the head priest as a sign of respect. While Gun merely just stood beside her staring intensely at DG like he is pinning point on why does he look familiar.
The pink hair idol looking man name DG smiles as he put down his paper work "Ha, Miss L/N I have been informed by your advisor that you need to resolve the issues of your familiar" ignoring on the demons intense stare
Y/N simply nod at DG and explain the situation
.
.
.
.
.
After Y/N explains the details, Head priest DG tapping his pointing fringer rapidly on the table thinking on how he would instruct Y/N problem.
And finally he stopped tapping.
"Miss Y/N, why don't you leave this problem to me I can process the form of this registration without any problem." He smiles
"Also can you leave first as I have to discuss something with your "familiar"" DG said to Y/N as he glares at Gun.
Y/N look at back and forth between them thinking that DG want to lecture a Demon and put a rule during his stay in the PTJ realm.
'Hopefully, they don't fight' Y/N thought as she leave the room.
Making sure the door closes tightly the two talk.
"It's been a while since we have met DG, ha no should I say James Lee the archangel." Gun smirk as he turns the door nob.
Dg smile turns into a shit grin like he gonna troll the crap out of Gun "Gun-ssi, You should already know already that I don’t go with the James Lee anymore, but you should hurry up and catch up with your new master. Wouldn't want her to steal away from some of her classmates right?"
Gun tsked as he remembered that his new master Y/n may probably get mobbed by his new fans due to him being a unique summon.
"Tell me what are you warning me about? "DG""
DG merely huffed at the remarked of Gun and leaned at his chair. "I would like to remind you to be on the watch list of the officials, so don't be reckless as you're gonna drag me into your problem."
"Of course of course, I won't do it out in the open with evidence DG. You must have forgotten that I keep my hands clean and legal." Gun slicked his hair back showing how confident and arrogant in his skills, turned his back from the pink hair priest and turned the doorknob.
"Before I go, I remember why they say that you are a demon dressed in angel from those times "DG "..... did you think that you can fool me on your tapping to cover those sinful sounds when this devil has sensitive hearing." Gun smirks as he goes out and closes the door.
UGK
A choking sound can be heard under the table of Dg.
"My my my Miss Kang don't worry about that, just keep on going, my dear"
Mmm?!?
"Yes yes, it's still safe to keep on going. He is merely teasing as he is also an unstated creature. Ha, surely no one will come here until the evening meeting… Why don't you sit on my knee, my dear." DG petting something? Someone? under his table.
Y/N being a good master she waits for Gun while she's staring outside the window, she still needs to show him around the campus and set some boundaries when she is in class or on fields. She doesn't want anyone to mob her for her unique familiar or just have him scaring the crap out of everyone from his majestic and terror aura.
"-Sensitive hearing"
Hearing the door closed, snaps her thoughts and looked at Gun who is approaching her.
"Ha! Gun! Did head priest DG talk to you about how you will settle?" Y/N rubs her neck nervously as she can feel the intense stare from her familiar.
In the spur of the moment, Gun brought his head beside Y/N's ear and whispered in a deep gritty voice. "My dear mistress, It's nothing to worry about."
Y/N backed away quickly while covering her right ear, blushing like a tomato at the Gun's whisper.

Hello! I'm thinking about your cached AU again and I was wondering, what is Yoojin's relationship with Song Taewon with like? Because their relationship in canon (at least up to where I've read) is heavily influenced by the fact that Yoojin is an F rank who holds power over S Ranks, making him both a threat and someone to protect. Does Taewon just go red alert whenever Yoojin around now? Does Yoojin keep trying to be friends with him? Does Taewon find that terrifying?
HAHAHAHAHHA. OH BOY. THIS SURE IS A QUESTION THAT HAS AN ANSWER. a very long answer so i'm putting it under a cut. thanks for waiting and im sorry if its incoherent its like 6ish local time. or maybe not im not very concerned wth reading clocks rn
(on ao3)
——
Be careful.
Taewon had wondered, when he received that message from Sung Hyunjae, if it was some sort of joke. A sly way of telling him he’d made trouble somewhere and he’d better prepare for the incoming paperwork, perhaps. The fact that it had been encoded suggested some degree of seriousness to it, but it was vague enough that he’d dismissed it and gotten ready for this long-delayed meeting.
Taewon locks eyes with Han Yoojin and is immediately struck by the complete lack of fear he finds there. So much so that he barely notices when Sung Hyunjae crushes his car with the breezy efficiency of a compactor.
And even as Sung Hyunjae gets out of his own car, even as he turns that amused, glittering gaze onto Han Yoojin, no apprehension sparks to life. No nerves. Just a cool, faintly disappointed look that he turns on the Seseong Guild Leader.
It stops the man in his tracks. Song Taewon blinks at Sung Hyunjae, faint smile frozen on his face, and looks back at Han Yoojin, who’s gazing at him now with a welcoming smile on his face.
…So that was a real warning, then.
Surely it can’t be for what Taewon thinks it is.
—
Taewon was told Han Yoojin was an A-rank. While the Hunter Association staff had confirmed his stats were well within standard range, they’d also made no secret of gossiping about how even the A-rank he’d come in with had looked vaguely spooked. How Han Yoojin carried himself with that unthinking confidence and grace all S-ranks had. How, when Seok Gimyeong had gone to personally take him through the registration process, Han Yoojin’s expression had gone flat and stony, and while he’d cooperated, something in his demeanor had had everyone around him going quiet and hurrying through the steps as fast as possible.
What it boils down to, in the end, is a sense that he’s not what he seems.
What Taewon thinks it is, quite simply, is a high-rank fear-inducing skill. Han Yoojin has no reason to claim he’s lower-ranked than he actually is, not when being higher-ranked would mean getting fast-tracked to a much better lifestyle than what he had before.
What Taewon realizes upon meeting Han Yoojin is that either he was very, very wrong about the other man’s ambition (or lack thereof, as it happens), or that the fear induction skill is far more potent than anyone let on.
“Chief Song-nim?”
Taewon stares at Han Yoojin. He’s merely standing there with a bag of instant coffee in hand, gazing at Taewon over his shoulder, and yet, if Taewon’s phone was in his hand right now, he’d probably have crushed it. As it is, he realizes distantly, his nails are digging little crescents into his palms. “Han Yoojin-ssi,” he gets out, and then stalls immediately.
He’d come here with the assumption that Han Yoojin was an A-rank. Which means all his questions (I wanted to check, are you safe, are you being pressured, why did such a high-rank monster appear in a dungeon with only two S-ranks in it and how did you kill it anyway?) were tailored for an A-rank. For someone that needed protection.
Is something wrong, he’d wanted to ask.
Is something wrong with you? is what his mind supplies now.
“Are you—alright,” he manages eventually.
Han Yoojin stares back at him, fingers tensing faintly around the bag as Taewon speaks. “I… yes? Why wouldn’t I be?”
“…With… the Babar’s appearance in that last dungeon.” It gets easier to speak once he’s started. “And all the higher-ranks you’ve been around lately. I’d understand if you were feeling—stressed, or strained.”
“Ah.” Han Yoojin relaxes. “No, I’m alright. It’s been quite busy, but I’ve adjusted well enough, I think. Thank you for your concern.”
Truth, Taewon thinks. He seems too confident for it to be anything but. But how can that be? To face an SS-rank monster as a supposed A-rank—
“Are you sure?”
Han Yoojin glances at him out of the corner of his eye. The tension isn’t back, but there’s a frown tugging at his lips. Taewon forcibly uncurls the fists his hands have balled into, and continues. He needs a reference. He needs to know what Han Yoojin looks like when he’s lying. “The Babar alone was an SS-rank, and you may have had your brother and ward with you, but even then, facing such a monster as an A-rank—”
And there it is, the slightest creases around his eyes, how he looks down and to the side slightly before meeting Taewon’s gaze once more, lips thinning into a line. Taewon’s so busy thinking over their conversation so far, matching these markers against what’s been said, that he doesn’t realize what he’s saying—
“…seeing them fight… They may be your family, but they’re S-ranks before that. Which makes them dangerous, more than you know—”
Until it’s too late.
“What are you trying to say, Chief Song-nim?” Han Yoojin asks, letting go of the bag of coffee and turning to face him properly. His voice has taken on a sharp edge, and Taewon steps backwards before he even consciously acknowledges the sound. Han Yoojin just steps forward to match, bringing him dangerously close— “If there’s a point to this, I’d like if you could—”
Taewon has a hand around his throat.
Han Yoojin raises a hand (touching? grabbing?). Seize his wrist, twist his arm, shift the grip on his neck, until Han Yoojin is pinned face-down against the counter, cheek pressed against its surface.
Then Taewon realizes he’d moved to begin with.
“…What are you doing?”
Han Yoojin’s flat question kills Taewon’s hasty apology before it can even leave his mouth. His grip tightens instead of loosening. Some quiet part of his brain is counting out the handful of people and low-rank Hunters present in the building today. A much louder part of his mind says he’s testing the hold.
Han Yoojin flexes his hand again, shifting easily even in Taewon’s grip, and he—
He panics.
Looting flares, black not-smoke wreathing his fingers and Han Yoojin’s limbs. Vague surprise flickers over Han Yoojin’s face before his eyes rise to a point in the air before himself, likely checking his status window. Whatever he sees there has his eyes widening sharply.
And then, all at once, something closes off in his face, and he goes limp.
A different kind of alarm spikes through the white-out fear in Taewon’s mind and he tilts his head to get a better look at Han Yoojin’s face. There’s a tightness around his eyes, still, lips pressed together like he’s bracing for something. But when those eyes flick up to meet Taewon’s stare, there’s also a dull sort of… familiarity?
No, not familiarity.
Resignation.
Taewon feels sick. He all but rips his hands off Han Yoojin, backing away hastily. There’s already shadows on his skin where Taewon’s fingers had pressed against it. There’ll be bruises there by tonight. Earlier, even, because—how long had he had Looting active?
He can’t remember. He can’t remember the last time he lost control like that. His stomach twists. He feels sick.
Han Yoojin still hasn’t moved. Taewon tries to remember how tightly he was gripping his neck.
And then Han Yoojin slowly, slowly draws his arm to his side again, pushes off the counter with his other hand, and straightens back up. A pause. Then he turns, just a little, so he can look at Taewon.
They stare at each other in silence like that for a moment.
Then, in a thin voice: “Interesting skill you have there.”
Taewon’s breath catches. Han Yoojin doesn’t seem to notice as he tilts his head slightly and opens his mouth again.
“Why’d you stop?”
…
Taewon—
Taewon leaves, after that.
He doesn’t remember what he says. What he does. Han Yoojin has a knack for disabling his rational mind, it seems.
What he does know is this: that Han Yoojin’s voice, when he asked that question, was genuinely curious. Perhaps even a little pleading.
What he does know, looking back, is that Han Yoojin didn’t try to pull away. He shifted in Taewon’s hold, yes, and in his panic Taewon overreacted. But he never tried to break free.
(What Taewon doesn’t know if he wants to know is this:
How does a man like Han Yoojin end up feeling resignation?)

Udyog Aadhaar - A Complete Guide for MSMEs
1. Introduction to Udyog Aadhaar
If you're a small business owner in India, you've probably come across the term Udyog Aadhaar. Introduced by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Udyog Aadhaar is a unique identification number provided to small businesses in the country. Its purpose is to simplify the process of registering MSMEs under a single platform, making it easier for them to access a wide range of government benefits.
Why is it important? Registering for Udyog Aadhaar enables small businesses to tap into various government schemes designed to promote their growth and development. From easier access to credit to subsidies and exemptions, Udyog Aadhaar has been a game changer for India’s MSME sector.
2. The Evolution of Udyog Aadhaar
Before Udyog Aadhaar, registering as a small-scale industry (SSI) was cumbersome, involving tons of paperwork. To streamline the process, the government introduced Udyog Aadhaar in 2015, replacing the traditional SSI registration process. It simplified the procedure, making it more accessible, especially to rural and small-town entrepreneurs.
However, the government later launched Udyam Registration in 2020, enhancing the benefits and offering more streamlined services for businesses. The Udyog Aadhaar system still holds significance for businesses registered before the introduction of Udyam.
3. Benefits of Udyog Aadhaar Registration
One of the major reasons MSMEs register under Udyog Aadhaar is to access various benefits and incentives offered by the government. Here are some of the key advantages:
Access to Government Subsidies: Registered MSMEs can avail several subsidies related to technology upgrades, marketing, and energy efficiency.
Easier Loan Approvals: Many financial institutions provide low-interest loans to businesses with Udyog Aadhaar registration, boosting access to capital.
Concessions in Electricity Bills: MSMEs can apply for concessions in utility bills, making it more affordable to run energy-intensive operations.
Exemptions Under Direct Taxes: Certain tax exemptions and rebates are available to registered MSMEs, reducing the financial burden on small businesses.
4. Eligibility for Udyog Aadhaar Registration
Not every business qualifies for Udyog Aadhaar. Only enterprises falling under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises category are eligible. Here's a brief look at what constitutes MSMEs:
Micro Enterprises: Investment in plant and machinery or equipment does not exceed ₹1 crore, and annual turnover does not exceed ₹5 crores.
Small Enterprises: Investment does not exceed ₹10 crores, and turnover does not exceed ₹50 crores.
Medium Enterprises: Investment does not exceed ₹50 crores, and turnover does not exceed ₹250 crores.
5. Documents Required for Udyog Aadhaar Registration
The registration process is relatively simple but requires a few essential documents:
Aadhaar Card: The business owner’s Aadhaar card is mandatory.
PAN Card: Both personal and business PAN cards are required in certain cases.
Business Details: Information such as business address, bank details, and the type of industry you're involved in.
6. Step-by-Step Guide to Udyog Aadhaar Registration
Registering for Udyog Aadhaar can be done entirely online, making the process much smoother. Here’s a breakdown of the steps involved:
Visit the official Udyog Aadhaar website.
Enter the Aadhaar number of the business owner.
Provide personal details, including business name, type of organization, and business address.
Submit the required information and verify using an OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
After successful submission, your Udyog Aadhaar number will be generated.
This seamless process ensures that small business owners don’t need to rely on third-party agents to complete the registration.
7. How Udyog Aadhaar Boosts Business Opportunities
With Udyog Aadhaar, businesses gain a competitive edge, especially when it comes to government tenders. MSMEs with Udyog Aadhaar registration often receive preferential treatment in tenders and contracts. Moreover, it opens doors to participate in international trade fairs and exhibitions, further expanding market reach.
The system also provides protection against delayed payments, a common issue faced by small businesses. Registered MSMEs can charge interest on delayed payments, ensuring that their cash flow remains stable.
8. Challenges and Common Mistakes in Udyog Aadhaar Registration
While the registration process is simple, there are a few common mistakes to avoid:
Incorrect Information: Double-check business details before submission to avoid rejection or delays.
Aadhaar Linkage: Make sure the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar is active to receive the OTP for verification.
In case of technical glitches, you can reach out to the MSME helpdesk or visit a local facilitation center.
9. Transition to Udyam Registration
As mentioned earlier, in 2020, the Indian government introduced Udyam Registration, further simplifying the MSME registration process. While Udyog Aadhaar was beneficial, Udyam has made it easier to categorize businesses based on investment and turnover. Unlike Udyog Aadhaar, Udyam doesn’t require multiple filings; it’s a one-time registration process that is directly linked to the PAN and GST numbers of the enterprise.
10. How to Migrate from Udyog Aadhaar to Udyam Registration
If you already have Udyog Aadhaar, migrating to Udyam Registration is straightforward:
Visit the Udyam Registration portal.
Enter your Udyog Aadhaar number and verify it with OTP.
Provide updated business information as required under the Udyam Registration system.
Submit the form and obtain your Udyam Registration certificate.
11. The Role of Udyog Aadhaar in MSME Growth
Over the years, Udyog Aadhaar has played a vital role in helping MSMEs access government schemes and boost their growth. For example, many small businesses have been able to secure affordable loans under the Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGS), thanks to their Udyog Aadhaar registration.
12. The Future of Udyog Aadhaar in India
As India focuses on enhancing its MSME sector, systems like Udyog Aadhaar and Udyam Registration will continue to play a key role. The government is consistently looking for ways to improve these systems, making them more accessible and inclusive for entrepreneurs across the country.
13. Udyog Aadhaar Registration for Entrepreneurs and Startups
Startups, especially in the manufacturing and services sectors, should seriously consider registering for Udyog Aadhaar. Not only does it offer numerous government benefits, but it also helps establish credibility in the eyes of lenders and customers alike.
14. Conclusion
Udyog Aadhaar has revolutionized the way MSMEs register their businesses in India. By simplifying the process, it has empowered small businesses to grow and take advantage of numerous government schemes and incentives. As India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem continues to expand, Udyog Aadhaar remains an essential tool for MSMEs aiming for success.
If you're an MSME and haven't registered yet, now is the time to leverage this opportunity!
