Since you wanted some asks about ships: what are your thoughts on itafushi and nobamaki?

this is just my personal experience, but as the story unfolded, I unfortunately lost interest in the main trio, even though yuuji was one of my absolute faves at some point (and yes, this has a lot to do with their individual conclusions). consequently, I don’t care about the ships that involve them as much as before.

however, itafushi was actually the first thing I shipped. I mean it's the obvious choice to go, they are the main duo after all and their story is an integral part of the plot. they initially reminded me of sns, but weren’t as one-sided or codependent as the former. I still like how one act of kindness from each has dooming consequences for the other as well as themselves. you can really tell, that this was the core of the story for Gege all along bc the writing up until shinjuku showdown is amazing. but just like with satosugu, I feel like their portrayal can get a bit tropey bc fandom doesn’t handle yuuji’s character well. you know that I've talked about its tendency to ignore certain characteristics of yuuji's personality before (controversial take, apparently :D). btw, I've seen a few fandom creators admit that they never read the manga or didn't even finish the anime. which is fine i guess. i mean you don't have to read the whole story to be creative with the characters, after all. however, with big creators especially, you can tell that their followers have a hard time to distinguish what's canon and what's fanon after a while. it's not the worst thing, of course, but can get a bit frustrating, when these fans start to aggressively defend their fanon version of the characters lol.

as for nobamaki, I have to admit, I never was that much of a fan to begin with. it’s always been pretty one-sided imo. I mean of course, they’re friends but maki never treated her in a special way, you know? I dont think there were ever romantic undertones on her part and tbh, megumi seems to be her favorite junior (i mean duh, they’ve known each other for the longest time).

on the other hand, I always found nobamai's dynamic more intriguing (i guess i just strive for chaos and mess 😆). anyway, nobara values female connections the most, thus I think she would have had a great time at kyoto since gege already confirmed she and the kyoto girls would have been all friends, if they’d gone to the same school (i think her and mai would still bicker a lot, while everyone else would just assume that they’re secretly dating).
