Excuse me if you talked about this already. What got you into in riso printing and how has your experience been so far? Your riso prints look incredible and so fun that inspiring me to get into it ;P
Hi! So i've loved poster art since I was a kid because when I lived in my grandmas house I would spent a lot of time in my aunts room that was full of metal posters from floor to ceiling. Super influential to my little kid brain. Then in highschool I found out what screen-printing was when my graphic design class went on a field trip to a local printing press that did posters and shirts. So at that point I started associating posters with printmaking and seeing them go hand in hand. I took classes for it in college and fell in love, easily the best class I took in my studies. I found out through friends there about riso printing (tho the school didn't offer it) and how it was a branch of printmaking and I really wanted to try it, so during the pandemic time I couldn't really screenprint with no studio (too many chemicals/clean up) so I started working on figuring out riso prints thru Risolve studio (just online, not actually physically there). Eventually I bought my own machine! I figured out how to use it by trial and error, a lot of googling/facebook groups, and people I met at the local art scene in the last city I lived in. I'm still learning a lot but now I have 9 inks in my library and i'm super excited to experiment around! I just really love printmaking and riso is the easiest way for me to do it with minimal equipment/mess/chemicals ect :D
