The trailer had quite the focus on new hairstyles, but our main squid is sporting classic 3s for some reason. They also made it a big selling point to "put your sparkle on!" -- the squid's tentacles are as shiny as the ink you have in Sploon2's hero mode.

Actually, Im not sure theyre a squid.

A lot of the tutorial/trailer text shows salmonid icons. Granted, theyre...salmonid with rocking hairstyles and different colors (not just green and grey.)

The character finally turns around tk sjow us her face and...

She doesnt exactlt have an eyemask. She has bags under her eyes and her ears and top half of her face are darkened (similarly to how I color in my inkfish). Smile a set a SHARP teeth.

Jumpcut to where this...creatura is going. She was at first in a warm canyon of sorts, but it transitions to a cold area. Gives Alterna vibes. Except its completely revamped and the vibe is now one of Las Vegas with all the shining lights and rides and shit. Festive (like. Anarchy rainbow almost) plays everywhere. Hell, Frye's in here too! With a new hairstyle and clothes. I cant remember much of that....

Trailer moves to show the maps. A lot of it is in this cold environment. As if...as if the world has frozen over, instead of warminh up. And everyone had bundled up for warmth. "The world is ending but its bc its an ice age" and yet the damn inkfish (?) Were sporting military style gear.

There was also a lot of Octarian tech in the maps (moving floating platforms, octotroopers moving around the background or ARE the moving platforms...think that toaster boss), and there are salmomid also just vibing in places.

The story mode is hinting at the mysteries of the flooze and humanity.

And...Whys this majorly Octarian nation freezjng over? Is it bc they dont have a zapfish again? No, not really. Theyre starting out with a new energy source that they discovered while digging around human ruins: geothermal power.

They havent mastered it yet. Not at all. But its better than begging Inkadia for help

Oh, and. The Flooze.

The trailer implies quite heavily that this is a new Alterna, or an Octarian + Salmonid majority living in Alterna. And the new creatura in the trailer is a salmonid who gained humanoid form bc she touched the flooze.

Then the logo of tbe game, yadda yadda.

The dream also had a lot of pro players analyzing the maps. Bc moving platforms on maps arent that common a sight, from what I know. Like, platforms thar move on their own and not pushed by players (like the ones in Lemuria hub, or Wahoo, etc)

Splatoon Shoe Trivia

I think ppl already know most of this already, but its been a while since these came out n i find it really neat so im bringing it up again

here's the super cute squidmas art of OTH and the Squisters, big fan big fan.

Now here's the thing: all those shoes are real shoes in game, but none of the rest of their gear is. Not in Splatoon 2, or even 3 as far as I can tell, but all the shoes? You can wear those in 2!

Now first things first.

Marie is wearing the Trooper Power Stripes.

These were part of the distrubution gear for springfest, alongside 7 other sets of shoes. Shoes designed by Pearl and Marina!! This is one of Marina's shoes, and it was made for Springfest, and Marie is wearing it in this Winter Promo art!!!!!

All the other shoes are real shoes too, the Black Seahorses, Punk Blacks, and White Laceless Dakroniks, for Callie, Pearl, and Marina respectively.

Now there's already a lot to be said here about the fact that for some reason only Marie is wearing springfest exclusive gear (in the winter art!!!), but that's not even all.

Because OTH and the Squid Sister ALSO wear real gear in the art for the Hero v Villian (smash) fest! And unlike the Squidmas art, as of now, Inkipedia notes which pieces of gear are being worn here! thanks inkipedia mods!!!

The squisters appear to both be wearing generic white tee shirts (cuttlefish ingame gear), but Pearl's wearing the Black Hoodie. Marina's jersey, while having the squidforce logo, doesn't appear to be any real jersey a player can wear.

But the shoes!!!! Marina is now wearing shoes that are very similar to the seasme salt 270's, but slightly different (mainly in them being black where the 270's r white). ((thank you inkipedia i wouldn't have caught that one alone)), and Marie is wearing the Black and Blue Squidkids V!

live geeked week event starting in 7 hours and there's finally a trailer where the stream will start later and stranger things is on there. i mean it was already pretty obvious it would show up in some capacity with them using it in the marketing of the event but official confirmation

but i'm still not expecting anything too big. it only got listed on this one extra slide and didn't get a big a big presentation slide like a dozen other IPs that actually have big news coming out. (even though they did cut back to a Dustin and Steve clip three times for comedic effect, the choke hold ST has on Netflix even when it's a side act is insane)

arcane is the absolute star of the event by the way (am exited about that). followed by one piece, squid games, and avatar, those will definitely be the biggest features today (also all have new seasons dropping right around the corner so, obviously)

but yeah, i don't see anything Major happening but ST will at least get something. worst case to me would be something insanely boring like a "filming is two thirds done yippie" announcement, a ST5 logo reveal (since they haven't dropped it yet and it happened for every season, albeit around filming start), and even an episode title reveal would be a bit of a let down if there wasn't anything else to it at this point

i'm not expecting them to drop one of the actual pre trailer 1min teasers, like they started dropping for s4 around the 9 months of filming mark yet. we'll probably get something like that for ST day and since that is in less than two months they're probably saving it for then

so idk, i'm not expecting much, biggest thing i'm letting myself hope for is maaaybe another look at bts production, or maybe a set tour

Works in progress - my first human-shaped crochet projects! I started on Hetch first (the poor little faceless blob behind Ranboo) based on the Squid Game pattern from Knot Bad. (Do links still not show up in tags? I'll put the pattern in the comments just in case. VERY beginner-friendly... obviously!)

Then I started making tweaks and I'd already bought Baby's First Beginner Yarn in gl!Ranboo colors in case I ever felt confident enough to try, and then I just couldn't stop. I'm making up most of this as I go along. As soon as Wrist Injury goes away, I'm going to try to do something fun with the button/Showfall logo on the back of the mask, see if I can make the jacket collar, and maybe eventually give the poor guy some hair. And Hetch will get limbs and a face someday too. I unravelled some of him when I realized I should give him flesh-colored hands instead of little black blobs, as cute as the blobs may be.

They both have little beanie bags to add some weight to their bodies also!

Side note, shout out to @ranboolivesaysstuff for having posted the most eerily convenient image results when choosing their eye color that I ultimately ignored. I don't know my own eye color without checking but at least I know Ranboo's!

i designed 8 after a baby deer. in a way.They're a deer in headlights basically. In side order they're dubbed 'File: 008', they lose the ability to speak completely due to how disoriented they are

the information these anons are referencing comes from a dev interview from 2018, aka its basically word of god, not from an in-universe source. "When Salmonids are willing to fight to the death, they feel a sense of unity with themselves and the world, and their spirits are lifted. Being eaten by other creatures makes them one with the world, and fighting for their clan's pride is something that’s equally precious in their sense of values." that's a direct quote from the director of both splatoon and splatoon 2, yusuke amano. if you'd like a direct source for the interview, you can find a translation of it in the linked sources on the page for salmonids on the splatoon wiki. should be the 6th one down.

Discussion questions:

1. calling information "word of god" does not make it accessable to characters within the universe. There is still the question of "do they know this?" "how much of this do they know?" "who is telling them this and does this person have ulterior motives in presenting this information?"

2. The game makes you the bad guy on purpose. Especially proceeding Octo Expansion, you are literally playing as the oppressor race that came out on top of a race war.

Octolings are treated as evil and gross by hero characters in the game in different story mode adventures. They're the bad guys. Even now, integrated among the inklings, octolings are still "othered" in tiny ways. Inkfish sybolism is squid shaped by default, rather than octolings. Phones, chargers, badges, stickers, logos, inklings are "default" and octolings are the "other".

Racism and classicism are huge themes in the game and the game isnt afraid to surround you with characters who uphold these divides and make you say for yourself "this is weird. this is wrong."

The ongoing racism against Octolings isn't brought up directly, but you see it, right?

So. Salmonids. They're the bad guys, right? They attack the city sometimes, even though we, gracious inkfish, help them fulfil their death rituals, and for that they must be kept at bay.

Its good for us too! We make money, we save the city, we get food. No idea what our boss is doing with the eggs we collect but its no matter! Its part of nature! The Salmonids like it! Why, it's even in the art book!

I get it. It's a kids game. You play salmon run for the first time and youre like "whoa! this is shady! this is weird! is this allowed?" but like it's a kids game. They wouldn't let you play "innocent blood on your hands" for money and funny hats, right?

but they do. its a running theme.

of course they have an in-universe explanation for why its okay. They're deceiving you on purpose. They're trying to make you think. They've spelled out so obviously that this is wrong but they havent said it outright and it seems like to so many people that just means it isnt wrong at all.

Turns out eating people is bad. I, like this funny squid game for kids, have tried to say my point every way except to tell you directly, and like the game, you're comforted by someone, anyone, telling you its fine.

Eating people is bad! The treatment of Octolings in the games are bad! The classist and consumerist society the inkfish have built is bad! And thats fine! It's a fun world to explore, horrible roots and all.

Jokes aside, here's a proper intro to what this is for people who aren't in that one very specific discord: As a creative project of sorts, I decided to make 4 Lalafells in FFXIV based on the Drawfee crew (youtubers). SPECIFICALLY these are based on their Newsday Comic Designs, because there's only so much staring at real people's faces really zoomed in I can do before I start feeling like a creep.

So, No, these are not "lifelike" or even "as close to life like as i can make potato people in a 10 year old video game". They're based on stylized ideas of people, warped by my creative liberty. That left me more space to make them cute instead of uncanny valley, which I'm sure any drawfee members that see this post might appreciate too.

They're also all heavily modded. It's more fun for dressup.

With that said! Onwards to the pictures (and design notes)!

Nathan: I actually "made" the beard for this myself - or, rather, I refitted it from a modded beard for Roegadyn. I even made an effort to mold it into a rough flower shape, but I'm afraid it doesn't show up that well. Still, remembering that there is no full beard for Lalafell in the vanilla game, I think it actually looks quite cute! For this "casual" fit I made an effort not to make Nathan look too fashion-y. Of course, they're idol photoshoot style pics, so I still had to dress him up a bit! With this sporty fit with the fun big red boots reminiscent of early video game character designs, I think I landed in a pretty nice middle ground.

Julia: This is the only design I paid real life money to make. I spent forever futzing with free hair mods trying to find one I liked, but in the end I forked over a few bucks to an experienced hair modder's online shop and got this hair that comes with all the features I wanted. Can't say I regret the purchase, it's very pretty. For the outfit, I knew what I wanted pretty much immediately. I have had this outfit mod for a long time, but I've never really known what to use it for. It feels very Julia, even if I can't remember necessarily seeing her wear this kind of thing before. Maybe it just feels French, and I associate Julia with France?

Karina: Karina's face sculpt mod was very easy to decide. Looking at the list of the free female Lala faces, I saw one that looked like a little shit - and named "Give Me the Phone" - and immediately knew it was perfect. I had to edit this hair to become hat compatible for later outfits, but overall this one was full of easy picks. Maybe I'm projecting too hard, though? I even dressed her in a top I modded for myself, after all.

Jacob: Jacob's design is one I agonized over, because finding a hair for him was quite hard. Short hair mods are rarer than long ones, and Newsday Jacob's hair is very distinctive. In the end I had to settle for a more realistic style, but I'm told it still reads as him. I wound up putting Jacob in maybe the cutesy-est outfit of the four. I don't think he'd mind, but either way the funny little overalls were too big a temptation for me to resist. Accessorising with bandages is where my weeb roots really shine through, though. Portraits done, here's the additional materials I've made!

Drawfee Kindergarten Field trip! Fun fact, I took this screenshot mere seconds before the dungeon I used as a set kicked me out, which means I spent the entire instance timer just deciding on accessories and posing! Where are they going? To see the big squid at the Aetherfont's center, of course!

The first music video! Motions not by me, I'm not that talented, these are retargeted Project Sekai dances (retargeting also not by me lmao animation modding scares me)

Childish war is such a fun song and dance, never mind the fact that none of the "personalities" really work for drawfee. It's dancing lalas! Who cares!

So IEYTD3’s intro. I love it so much. it’s very girlboss. It also has hidden meaning though.

Think about it. IEYTD1 is all about Zoraxis and how it’s this big threat with a death engine and loads of operatives and oh no phoenix is gonna die SIKE.

The second game is where Zoraxis starts to fall. The operatives seem dead set on killing pheonix, no matter what. Twice in the same game two people leak zoraxis info (( gibson talks about the heads of state still being alive and juniper threatens to leak zor’s identity. ))

IEYTD3 is where zoraxis starts to crumble. In the intro, you literally see a massive Zoraxis logo crash to the bottom of the ocean, setting off a chain reaction. I think this is symbolising how we literally see how they have less operatives (( no one outright attacks you, they use robots )), no one is telling anyone anything after Juniper threatened to leak stuff and they’re still lying to their staff. They’re mostly relying on The Fabricator and Hivemind now and they barely have any plans that fit them. Their whole thing is blowing up or remaking the world or something but in this new game their main goal is just destroying the agency.

Now you might be thinking to yourself, Pheonix (( my name, not the agent )), you’re making no sense, they could just be trying to get the agency out of the way so they can enact other evil plans!

To that i say, then surely one of their many, MANY encoded plans would be about something other than kinesium. Nope. I looked through all of them and they’re all either about hiveminds squid or the kinesium research.

Hey so I was wondering- putting my opinions aside what are your thoughts on the odd almost expectation there being another playable species to splatoon? (Not necessarily referring to salmonlings btw.) Note that if they add salmonlings I will smash my switch in with a brick

splatoon is a game about squids. in japanese culture, theres this image of squids and octopuses being rivals, and splatoon is centered around those two species because of that.

so yeah i think its an odd expectation. a single instance of an enemy species (that was planned to be playable from the start btw) becoming playable is not a pattern.

the only species i could see functioning the same as inklings and octolings (as in ink-based shapeshifters that can respawn) would be cuttlefish, but i literally cant see a story reason for them to only now be partaking in turf wars (i imagine they already do in-universe and we just dont see it). maybe in some distant region or something theres a bunch of cuttlefish and thats why theyre coming only now! or something. thats about all i can think of. from what little weve seen canonically of cuttlefish, being decapods they look even more similar to inklings than octolings do, it just would feel pointless imo

i think the splatoon team should just make more variety to playable inklings and octolings and not muddle things with more species. more hairstyles and weird skintones and new facial features please!

oh right the second part of the ask! manta rays were super high up on my list before splatoon 3. but now i wanna see seahorses! theyve only appeared in logos so far.

The trailers will start with footage of bright sunny streets in New Orleans. Robert narrates:

Footage of Robert at different restaurants, sitting across from a variety of people, all of whom grt up and leave him sitting alone. Until the last one of course because Robert deserves happiness. The quick montage ends with Robert walking to his apartment, holding hands with a guy (I havent yet decided who's playing his boyfriend)

"Really, I've never been happier."

Sudden tonal shift- footage of a pack of wolves in a cemetery. One wolf in particular is fucked up. It's more like a wolf skeleton with little blobs of muscle and fur and one glowing red eye. The wolves are digging at a grave marked by a big, ostentatious golden wolf headstone. Quick edit and then Teddy fucking Lobo is climbing out of the grave, black blood dripping from his mouth like he just ate a squid ink Gusher. Teddy stands before the one-eyed wolf and says

"Oh Hell yeah, time for some revenge! Or, or vengeance! Which one are we- revenge, okay, sweet!!!!"

Quick cuts to other scenes- Bellafrancesca in prison, Rebecca aiming a gun at something, Robert grabbing a spider and then looking at his boyfriend and saying "There's a few things I haven't told you."

Cut to the requisite moment in a trailer where the action is queued up with the music- Robert falling through the air, eyes ablaze, an enormous winged creature reflected in those eyes...

Title drop.

Small after-title scene of Robert, clearly battle weary, leaning on his boyfriend's shoulder and the boyfriend saying "I bet someday we're gonna look back on all this and laugh."

Super quick flash of Dracula's monstrous bat form highlighted by a flash of lightning.

Robert: "Oh, I hope so."

yn barricaded herself in her art room. her sculpting tools would be of great use in this situation.

her stalker was jaeho. jaeho and e/n to be precise.

jaeho and e/n were in cahoots the whole time. the plan was to monopolise the 2 daughters of a rich family so that they could get money to fund their careers.

however, after jaeho successfully married chaeyoung, he realised she was going to ruin his reputation so he asked e/n to brutally leave yn so he cld be there to pick up the pieces and seduce yn.

after that, jaeho began to stalk yn o figure out her new place of residence. e/n, began to separately stalk her, in an attempt to get her back.

"yn. i told you that you were next. don't be scared. i won't do anything."

"jaeho, my parents hate me. what does attacking me do for you? you won't get ransom!"

"not from them. i'll get ransom from your precious boyfriend wonwoo."

"you aren't making any sense! if you want money, i'll just give it to you. please just get out!"

jaeho wanted to hurt her. he blamed her for his misfortune with chaeyoung.

"if you were better, i wouldn't have married chaeyoung."

"how is that my problem! what is wrong with you? i'm confused and scared and you don't make sense. pl-"

she was cut off by the sounds of crashing and something being slammed into a wall. she heard clatters of metal and shouting before she heard the comfort of a voice she knew so well.

"i'm here, yn. you're okay."
