Mission 311- Chapter 4

Jin Jin nodded once more. ��Now that you know what I am, I can tell you the truth. I can tell you why I joined YNB and why I had to k…” He leaned on his hand and looked outside, “Why he’s gone.”

He sighed and slapped his cheeks. “We should probably talk about this while we walk… We wouldn’t want anyone to overhear our conversation.”

The older nodded in agreement and they both got up and began making their way down the streets to a store as Jin Jin told his story.

Spy Works Recruitment- Moonbin

SPY AU! Spy Works!

Complete opposite of MJ’s life

Was spoiled and very loved

Got anything and everything he wanted

And why?

Because he is the son of a very powerful and well known mafia leader of Balgeundal (I really hope it translated properly), the strongest and most famous mafia around

Don’t get it wrong though

He grew up with high expectations

His love of working out and constantly honing his skills became a habit of his

Not once did he complain or hate it

As such he fit his role as the heir to the gang perfectly

But one thing you should know, is that his father if a huge softy

Moonbin’s mother passed away not long after his sister’s birth

His father became a very protective and dotting parent for both of them

For the most part, his sister stayed with his grandparents but somehow the two of them never grew apart

Bin stayed with his father, learning to fight and become a good leader

At twelve years old, father brought him and four highest ranked member of the mafia to a meeting with men in suits

Bin didn’t understand what it was for and completely paid no attention

Unbeknownst to him, they were agents from a highly ranked spy agency and their unit was in charge of keeping tabs on them.

“If you don’t do more good deeds and keep up with your quota within your territory we will act.”

“You should also know, there rumors that the smaller organizations are trying to make pacts with each other... there’s a high chance Balgeundal will be in danger in a few years.”

His father managed to bring the idea of being kind and helpful to all of the members and with everyone’s help they managed to keep up to their “goodness” quota

As much as they also prepared for what was warned, they didn’t expect how many they would actually face.

By the time Bin turned 14, their group’s number had diminished in half and a third of their territory was taken over.

In order to keep his family safe, his father ordered Bin to stay indoors at all time and they never visited his sister either for fear the smaller organizations would try to target his children.

A few months after he turned 14, his father called Bin to meet with him

When he went into his father’s office, the same two men from two years ago were also there.

One leaned against the dark colored wall and the other sat in one of the two chairs in front of his father’s desk.

Bin cautiously sat down in the other chair.

The man in the chair next to Bin looked to his father

“Are you sure about this? You know what we do for a living. We can’t guarantee anything.”

Bin looked to his father in utter confusion

“Yes, I’m absolutely sure. He’ll be much safer with you than he would with me. He’ll be able to make friends in the agency and most of all, he’ll be able to see his sister more so than he can now.”

Safer with them?

He’s going with these absolute strangers?

Yes. He is but of course not without a fight.

“Dad, why?!? I don’t even know these people! I’d rather stay with you! I can protect you and sis! You told me I’d be the next leader and I can be just that.”

“I’ll... I’ll recruit more members and train them myself if I have to! I’ll convince those organizations to leave us alone or to join our side. I... I...”

His father stood up and gave him a hug.

“Your strong and you’ll become even stronger. But your place isn’t with us but with them. You’ve always had a good heart just like your mother’s. Now go, and that’s an order.”

His father gave him a tight squeeze and a smile before letting in some of the remaining members of the group, some of which held bags containing Bin’s belongings.

Bin held back his tears as each member present gave him a pat on the back as he walked out the doors with two complete strangers

When he got to Fantagio he was surprised by how big the agency actually was.

He was put into a dorm with a bunk bed which he detested but once he saw all the snacks and food in the kitchen he didn’t complain.

One month later he was given a roommate who he became very close with

They trained together and became stronger together as well

While he was a trainee, he often visited his sister who was growing up to become a beautiful and strong woman.

He often brought his roommate with him and he could’ve sworn his roommate had a crush on his sister but he always denied it

Bin and his sister never go to see his father and the rest of the gang

But he does his best to get information on them and how they’re doing, even till now

It seems the smaller organizations have stopped attacking them but Balgeundal was no longer as powerful as it was before

He’s happy enough to know his father and “family” are still alive and safe for now

At 17, Moonbin and his roommate became official spies and members of the unit Astro

Recruitment- Jinjin

Warnings: child labor(?), mentions of death, minor violence

The first from Astro to join the agency

Joined at an extremely young age due to his circumstances

His father passed a few months after he was born

At four, his father and brother passed in a car accident

With no family left he was put into an orphanage

The orphanage staff didn’t care about the children

In order to get food, the children had to pay

To pay you need money

Most kids would go to the street and beg for food

When Jinjin first came, he was thrown into the street after asking for food

One of the older kids saw him get thrown out

Instead of looking away, he ran over to Jinjin and helped him up

“What’s your name kid?”

With tears down his eyes, “Pa-Park Jinwoo. Bu-but dad al-always called me Jinjin.”

The older kid pat his head, “I’m Nam Yoondo! But when I get out of here I’m g’nna call myself Eric Nam. Don’t worry kid! I’ll teach you how to survive around here.”

Jinjin went to sleep that night with an empty stomach and puffy eyes but a smile on his face as his new friend and substitute older brother embraced him in his sleep.

As time went on, Eric continued to help Jinjin and soon the two of them were inseparable.

They were like brothers and would go out looking for minor jobs or beg for money together.

When Jinjin was 7 and Eric was 15, he began to teach Jinjin how to pick-pockets when they couldn’t earn enough to feed themselves.

At eight years old, Jinjin did well enough on his own that they could split up.

Jinjin could go through an entire crowd of people, picking and returning dozens of wallets within minutes without anyone noticing.

One day was like any other, they started by splitting up during the post work rush hour.

Jinjin got through an entire crowd of people- stealing and returning the contents of ten wallets.

As he tried to replace the eleventh wallet, he lost sight of the target and decided to drop the wallet on the ground as they usually would whenever they wouldn’t be able to return it.

He walked to meet up with Eric in their usual meeting place, an alley way with a dead end near the lesser busy streets.

Making his way to the alley, Jinjin could feel like someone was following him. He sped up his pace and took detours hoping to lose the presence following him till finally he arrived at the alley.

He turned around, and slowly backed up as fear consumed him.

The man who followed him had a large build and Jinjin immediately recognized him as the man who’s wallet he didn’t get to return.

“What’s your name boy?”

Jinjin stuttered as his back finally touched the brick wall at the end of the alley, “Jin.. Jinwoo, sir...”

“Don’t worry I won’t hurt you Jinwoo. How old are you?”

His eyes desperately searched behind the man hoping and praying Eric would come around the corner and come save him. “E... eight, sir.”

“That’s pretty young. What are you doing out on the street pick pocketing people for? Where are your parents.”

The man stopped walking closer but the fear of having been caught still consumed him. “They’re gone. I... I need money to pay the orphanage for... for food...”

“Orphanage?.... You know your pretty skilled kid. It took ME a few minutes to realize my wallet had even gone missing and another few minutes to find you.” The man began to laugh heartily.

He reached his hand out towards Jinjin scaring him, “ERIC!!!”

As if he had summoned him, Eric came from behind the man and hit him in the back of the head with the top of a garbage can and ran to grab Jinjin.

But the man didn't fall over and instead blocked their way.

He wasn’t mad and instead of grabbing them he yelled out

“Let me adopt you both!”

Jinjin was pulled behind Eric who was completely shocked

Who would want to suddenly adopt two kids

Let alone a kid that stole from him

And another that hit him in the back of the head

“Look! If you’re going to bring us to the police just take me! Leave Jinjin out of this!”

The man took a step back and waived his hands out in front of him

“No! I’m serious! You both have innate skills that can be greatly enhanced at our agency! Plus, you would have a proper living space and free food. You wouldn’t need to go out begging for food anymore. We’d take really good care of you both.”

Eric still stood in front of Jinjin hesitantly

“You don’t want Jinwoo to be on the street for the rest of his life do you?”

Eric, still cautious, led the man to their orphanage

Just as he promised, he adopted them.

Rather than under his name, they were adopted under the name of an agency called Fantagio

When they arrived to the agency and were given a dorm to share, they were amazed

They each had their own fully furnished room

A fully stocked kitchen and a weekly allowance

The next day they joined for spy training and finally properly the man that “adopted” them

“I hope you two are adjusting well. I never got the chance to introduce myself. My name is Noh Taeyoon and I’m a senior agent here.”

“You know Jinwoo it took me a while to realize you had even stolen my wallet and thats quite the feat when against me. You have the makings to become a great spy. Meanwhile, Eric, to be able to sneak up on me like that was amazing as well and to have so much courage at a young age is a great thing, so from this day on you two will begin training as spies.”

From then on the two of them gladly began training rigorously under his care

As the years passed, not only did he have an older brother figure in his life, but a father figure as well

Eric, being older, became a spy first and was allowed to work solo

Jinjin became an official spy at the age of thirteen and joined Noh Taeyoon’s unit

Eventually, Noh Taeyoon became head of the agency and Jinjin was promoted to Senior agent of his own unit, Astro.

Recruitment- MJ

SPY WORKS! Spy AU!

Warning: Abuse

Had a difficult childhood

His father was abusive towards their mother

He would make MJ and his brother fight to the edge of death

If one didn’t properly fight, he would threaten them

He would either threaten to kill the other brother or if neither wanted to fight he would threaten to kill their mom

He forced them to take different martial arts classes just for the sake of watching them fight properly

Myungjun hated fighting his brother

Especially because nine out of ten times he would win

His brother wasn’t as athletic as him

It didn’t help that he was also more frail and sickly than him

But MJ couldn’t hold back or else their dad would kill him

A few days before he turned twelve, their father was out of town for a “business trip”

Which they all knew meant he was going to see his other family

MJ came home from school to find his brother lying on the floor, a cut along his arm and a pool of blood surrounding him.

He quickly stopped the bleeding and called 911

Luckily he survived, but was hospitalized to keep an eye on him

Before MJ left, his mother told him “Run. Run away while you still can! Don’t worry about us. He can’t hurt us here.”

MJ violently shook his head, but his mom kept telling him to leave and pushed him out the door.

He stood in front of the door for what seemed like hours.

He didn’t want to leave his mom and his brother

But a part of him also wanted to escape his father’s grasp

It took the nurse trying to make her way into the room for him to finally move.

He ran home, opened a duffle bag and stuffed all of his clothes and personal items he knew he couldn’t live without

On the day of his twelfth birthday, as he was walking around trying to find somewhere to stay, he saw a boy, maybe a year younger than him, surrounded by a group of buff looking men in the alleyway

MJ could tell they were threatening the boy

He put his bag down at the end of the alley and walked over to them

“Hey leave that kid alone.”

The man in the middle just chuckled and shoo’d his away

“Mind your own business kid.”

He turned to the other kid and pounded his fist into his palm

“Give it back or else.”

MJ was surprised by how calm and undeterred the other kid was

But he still wanted to help the weak looking boy

He tapped on the mans shoulder

“You still haven’t left yet?!? I told you-“

Just as he turned around MJ punched him and knocked him out cold

The other men stood shocked

MJ taunted them, making them even angrier

They all fought him at once but still he managed to beat them all up

The whole time the kid silently watched

“I guess all that fighting he made us do wasn’t a waste” he whispered to himself

He noticed the kid still standing there looking at him and whispering to his sleeve

“What are you still doing here? They could wake up any time, you should get outa here.”

But he still stood there whispering to himself

MJ decided he was weird and that it was time to keep moving on

When he turned to the direction of his bags, a man was holding them

He looked even more gruff than the six he had just taken down

“Hey, that’s mine! Are you with them?!? I’ll beat you up too!”

He furiously walked up to the man but the man stayed perfectly calm

When MJ was arm’s length away, the man handed the bag to him

The kid walked up to the man excitedly

“See! You saw it right? Well the end... but you saw it right?!? He has potential!”

Potential.

Potential???

Potential for what?!?!

MJ started to get scared

Maybe this kid and... his father? We’re part of some gang

He didn’t want to be part of something illegal

Just as he was about to make a run for it, the man spoke

“Jinjin... you’re getting too excited. Look how scared you made him.”

“Oh I’m sorry... I’m Jinwoo by the way but just call me Jinjin! Thanks for saving me back there but I totally had them covered.”

“Um.... No problem...? I’m Myungjun, but call me MJ.”

The man was whispering into his sleeve as they made their introductions and finally spoke to him once more

“My name is Noh Taeyoon. On behalf of Jinjin, because he is still in training, we would like to recruit you to our agency.”

“Agency...?”

“Yes. We’re a spy agency. The best spy agency, actually, and don’t worry we’re the good guys.”

The kid... Jinjin excitedly cut in, “You’d have your own room, and free food! A weekly allowance and people you can call your family!”

“I have a family already!”

MJ suddenly thought of his mom and his brother and wondered how they were doing.

He started to cry and without hesitation Jinjin hugged him.

The man patted his head.

“We can keep both your brother and your mom safe from your father too. They’d be able to live normal and happy lives and your father can go to jail.”

“How.. how can you do that... why would you even help me...?”

Jinjin rubbed his back, “We told you we’re a spy agency. We can do all of that! And like we said, we’re the good guys. It’s our job to help people.”

MJ held back his tears with much effort

“I’ll join.”

It took him a while to adjust to his new home

Fairly, he didn’t trust they were the good guys either

Not till he saw his father getting arrested on the news

He visited his mom and brother the next day and promised to visit them whenever he could

Which he knew would be rare

But at least he knew they were safe

And he knew they could be trusted

Over time, he became close to the boy he had “saved” that fateful day

They became best friends and especially close when he joined the same unit, Astro, as him

He would never tell Jinjin, but it was himself that was saved that day.

Recruitment- Eunwoo

Genius

A pure genius

And really rich

His parents started a company when they were young and it was a huge success

Went to private schools

Had a scholarship already waiting for him for college

Parents wanted him to be a doctor or lawyer if he didn’t want to take over the family business

But they pretty much didn’t care what he wanted to do, so long as they knew he’d be able to support himself more than enough

Back to being a genius

Got straight A’s

Began learning advance information at five years old.

Like calculus, bio chemistry, and mechanics

He mastered them too!

On his own! His parents didn’t teach it to him

Elementary school was boring for him since he knew everything already

His teach suggested a new field at the time: computer science

So he started learning computer science

He loved it and became addicted to it!

At seven years old, he decided to get some other hobbies aside from sitting at the computer all day.

So he started taking martial arts, archery, cooking, baking and dance

He wasn’t very good at dancing and didn’t really enjoy is so he gave up on the third day

It took him longer to get the hang of martial arts but archery was a different story

On the very first day, after all the instructions, they were given a chance to try it.

All of the other kids missed of course, but Eunwoo...

Nah he got a bulls-eye

He didn’t always get bulls-eye but he also never once missed the target

At nine, he was already bored with his life.

He had mastered his new hobbies

So he decided to try hacking and instead of archery, started taking lessons on shooting

Yes shooting guns

And just like archery, he never missed the target

So the instructors decided to give him those human silhouette targets

Every shot hit the silhouette!

They were amazed

Back to hacking

He started to get really good at it

He would hack minor things but never steal information

He just liked the thrill of getting through the firewalls and such

But one day he accidentally hacked into the wrong server

At that time someone else was also trying to hack into the same computer

But they were better than Eunwoo and also hacked him

Scared of getting caught and going to jail, he quickly pulled the outlet- shutting everything off

The next day there was a doorbell at the door

Though he didn’t think much of it. He thought it was one of his parents’ friends visiting

So when they called him down, he was shocked

“Eunwoo! There’s a recruiter at the door!”

It was normal for recruiters to come looking for him too

But his parents seemed more cheerful than usual

When he walked into the living room where the guest was waiting he saw a man in a suit.

Actually not a man

A teenager

He didn’t look that much older the Eunwoo himself was

“Hi Eunwoo. My name is Kang Tae-oh... Wow! Your really handsome I bet you get more girls than me!”

Eunwoo cautiously shook his hand

“Ah! Don’t worry, I’m not here to scam you or anything. I really am here to recruit you. I may look young but we have something in common...”

The guy leaned closer and whispered, “We’re both hackers.”

Eunwoo started to shake

But the man just laughed

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to tell your parents or anyone. My agency has done some research on you and we want to recruit you. You may not know it but you almost out hacked me last night and I’m the best hacker at Fantagio right now!”

Eunwoo didn’t show a single bit of reaction. He didn’t even know what to think of the situation.

“Look... My boss thinks you’d be a great asset to us. With both your hacking, aim, and fighting skills, you’d be an amazing agent. If you come with me I can teach you what I know and get even better.”

Eunwoo glanced over in the direction he knew his parents were listening in.

“Ah! You won’t have to worry about food or money. We have dorms and the fridge is always stocked with food and ingredients. And if you want something specific they do give a weekly allowance of two-hundred dollars.”

Again he glanced over to where his parents were hiding.

Tae-oh leaned in closer

“With how smart you are I’m sure you’ve realize what kind of agency we are. You don’t have to worry. We’re one of the good guys and we’re the strongest spy agency there is. Your parents’ identities will never be connected to you so they’ll be perfectly safe. Of course joining us would mean you wouldn’t be able to see them often if not ever again...”

He sighed deeply

“I told your parents we’re a government agency, which isn’t a lie per say, and that you would be fully taken care of but that you’d be traveling a lot. I’ll come back in a week if you want to give you time to decide.”

Eunwoo’s parents finally came out of hiding

“He’ll do it!”

“Mom?!?”

“Eunwoo this is the perfect job for you! They’ll always keep you on your toes and keep pushing you to surpass yourself. I know that’s the kind of thing you’ve been looking for... Honey, I know your young, your only nine for goodness sake! But if this is something that will make you happy it’s alright with us.”

“Son, we know they’ll take good care of you. You just be sure to visit us whenever you can! I’m sure your brother will miss you too.”

Eunwoo still wasn’t convinced but he know what his mom said was true

He’d always be encouraged to push himself to be better

He’d always do different things

He wouldn’t be bored anymore

And he decided on his own that maybe he’d actually be able to make friends

He hugged his parents and started to pack his things

The next day he left and when he arrived at Fantagio and saw all of their advanced technology he immediately decided he didn’t regret listening to his parents.

He advanced his skills in computers

Helped invent new technology for agents to use

At fifteen he officially became a spy and continued to work with Tae-oh in information gathering and did some undercover work as well where he made his alias Dongmin

A few years later he joined an actual unit called Astro

At first he kept to himself

But slowly they began to grow on him and became like his own family

Spy Works: Recruitment- Rocky Pt. 1

SPY AU! Spy Works!

So putting this into two parts because stuff happened and I ended up stopping it at a good point anyways and want to give you guys an update :)

Lived a normal life growing up.

Went to school his.

His parents worked for average wages.

He went to karate, taekwondo, and other various martial arts.

By third grade he had a black belt in almost all of the martial arts classes he was taking. 

By fourth grade, he began to take gymnastics and dance classes.

And boy was he good, he was a natural at them

At eleven years old, Minhyuk’s parents disappeared over night and an uncle he had only met once in his life appeared that same night

His uncle stayed with him

For two years his parents disappeared without a warning

In that year, Minhyuk didn’t understand why they suddenly left

He blamed himself constantly, day and night

He never shed a tear nor asked questions

Eventually, he outcast himself from his friends and his uncle

He became a loner and was always serious

Much to his dismay, his uncle forced him to continue going to his extra-curricular classes

A few months after the second anniversary of his parent’s disappearance, his uncle woke him up in the middle of the night and told him to quickly pack whatever he could and whatever was important to him.

Although he was utterly confused, he proceeded to pack his things at three in the morning

He packed whatever clothes he could, a picture frame of him and his parents, and a watch his parents had given him on his birthday before they left

At four o’clock, his uncle handed him a to go box of breakfast and loaded the bags into the car

By 4:30, they were off to who knows where and Minhyuk fell asleep

When Minhyuk awoke, he noticed they were parked in the middle of the woods

His uncle noticed he had woken up and ran his hand through Minhyuk’s bed hair in an effort to fix it

“Come on! I have a surprise for you.”

Minhyuk hesitant, got out of the car and silently followed his uncle

The same thought kept repeating in his head “Is he going to kill me!?!”

His uncle stopped walking and gently held his shoulders from behind,

“Close your eyes. It’s a surprise after all.”

His uncle guided him as he closed his eyes

For minutes they continued to walk through the woods in silence

Minhyuk could feel his uncle let go and take a few steps back

“Open your eyes.”

They had moved out of the dense forest and into a small clearing within

Colorful lanterns were lit all around

A table and four chairs were set off to the side

Two coolers near by

The rest of the space was empty except for a small table with a CD player on top

His uncle silently walked to the table while Minhyuk tried to take everything in

Minhyuk walked to the CD player, a cd was already inserted. Curious he pressed play

The song that played was not only his favorite song but it was his and his parents song

The song they would sing along to together in the car

No matter how horrible his dad could sing

Tears began to form in his eyes just as he heard rustling from the woods

Out of the dense forest, emerged his parents

His mother already in tears as she ran up to him and hugged him

His father trying to put a brave face on, embraced them both

Minhyuk was too shocked to react

So many questions filled his mind

But all he could do was let out the tears he had been holding back for two years

After everyone had settled down, the three of them joined his uncle at the table he had just finished setting up

Before Minhyuk could even open his mouth, his mother blurted out

“We’re spy’s!”

Operation 223- Chapter 11

SPY AU!

MJ let go of Bin and ran towards Jin Jin’s body. Sanha, having seen it coming, immediately ran to help Rocky support Bin who became conscious due to the gun shot.

“How could you do that to him!” MJ pushes Eunwoo out of the way and kneeled down next to his best friend. “Jin Jin?”

“Jin Jin… JIN JIN!” MJ fell back against a tree. His legs gave out and he slid down. His hands fell to the ground as he was completely distraught. Rocky kept shaking his hyung in an effort to snap him out of it.

Rocky finally gave up on shaking him and slapped MJ in the face. It seemed to work as MJ put his hand to his cheek, “That hurt!” Tears filled his eyes and he wiped them away.

Bin, taking advantage of MJ’s silence, continued to speak as he held back his tears. “I stepped on a staff back there and accidentally discovered the hidden blade. I was trying to warn you but you couldn’t hear me! And I was so scared he’d kill you so I pushed you out of the way! I was so scared I’d lose you hyung...” He hugged MJ and pulled him closer.
