"You see emptiness here is the purported familiar and your house is endlessly familiar, endlessly repetitive. Hallways, corridors, rooms, over and over again. A bit like Dante's house after a good spring cleaning. It's a lifeless objectless place. Cicero said 'A room without books is like a body without a soul.' So add souls to the list. A lifeless, objectless, soulless place. Godless too. Milton's abyss pre-god or in a Nietzschean universe post-god."
― Harold Bloom, House of Leaves, p.359

Hernando County Recovery Continues after Hurricane Milton: Let's Get Out and Celebrate!
We continue to be inspired and awed by the Hernando County community coming together and the businesses pushing through to open as soon as damages are mitigated. The businesses featured in the last story all seem to be open still, after weathering Hurricane Helene, rebuilding, and then weathering Hurricane Milton. Hurricane Milton was gentler to the Hernando Beach, Bayport, Aripeka, Weeki Wachee area that Helene, but it was horribly damaging to the more inland parts of Hernando County. Downed power lines, trees, fences, lost pets, and rising floodwaters have made us wonder if Armageddon is upon us. Withlacoochee River Electric, Duke Energy, Sumter Electric, TECO Energy and all the tree trimming, debris clearing workers who have worked tirelessly to restore our homes, power and transportation have been the heroes of all this calamity. Stay tuned for more info on the Ridge Manor, Brooksville, Trilby, and Spring Lake recovery from Milton. Meanwhile, enjoy this video from Sparacia Witherell Family Winery and Florida's Adventure Coast. https://youtu.be/XRNL-dygB8w?si=8uR0XiwjR_0yZRjG An adorable waterfront restaurant called Tropical Grille reopened after three weeks of hard work by its owner, staff, and volunteers on Thursday, October 17. Tropical Grill is located under the thatched roof at 4139 Shoal Line Blvd. in Hernando Beach, at the rear of the Hernando Beach Marina. “Here at the Hernando Beach Tropical Grille, we feature a diverse selection of New England seafood as well as burgers, sandwiches, fajitas, wings, steaks and so much more. We pride ourselves on using only the freshest and finest ingredients available. All of our dishes are made in-house, from scratch and to order,” says Christy Legg. After three weeks of cleaning, repairing and organizing, Christy Legg, Ana, and Jasmine pose here the day they reopened Tropical Grille in Hernando Beach. Image courtesy of Tropical Grille Facebook. Marina Rose Cruise Boat offers Comet Watching Cruises this Weekend The Marina Rose cruise boat was recently purchased by Pat and Sheryl Coggins. “When we moved to Hernando Beach in 2021, the first thing we did was to book a dinner cruise on the Marina Rose. We figured this was the best way to check out the local waterways, support a local business, and have fun,” Sheryl says. That is where the Coggins first met Randy and Rosa. They were impressed with the food, the level of service, fair prices, and the feeling of being part of their family. They enjoyed many cruises on the Marina Rose over several years, and when the opportunity arose, Pat and Sheryl became the owners of this wonderful attraction in Hernando Beach. The Marina Rose Cruise Boat offers comet- watching dinner cruises this weekend. Book yours now! Image courtesy of Marina Rose Cruise Boat Facebook. After the two hurricanes, cruises are still going strong and this weekend offers guests the opportunity to see the Tsuchinshan-ATLAS comet during their dinner cruise Friday and Saturday nights. According to The Weather Channel, you want to have as clear a view of the western horizon as you can and look in that direction about 15 – 45 minutes after sunset. You cannot get a better view of the western horizon anywhere than Hernando Beach. The Marina Rose Cruises offers dinner cruises Friday through Sunday nights at 6 pm. Go to www.MarinaRoseCruises.com or call (352)232-8128 to see if any seats are left. Brian's Place Fundraiser is Saturday in Hernando Beach Brian’s Place has been a popular place on Hernando Beach for years, but Hurricane Helene dealt a devastating blow to the Italian/Spanish fusion restaurant located at 3430 Shoal Line Blvd. Repairs are already underway, but it will be a while before they are able to reopen. Meanwhile, some of their loyal patrons brought lunch to Brian on October 15, and we have the opportunity to stop by tomorrow, October 19 for the Epic Patio Party on the patio at Brians Place employee fundraiser. Bring cash – there will be an ATM on-site - and enjoy specialty cocktails and unique food. You can grab a bottle of locally bottled Vodka or Breckenridge Whiskey too. All tip donations go to the 30 staff members affected. Let’s pack the patio and make it a day to remember! Diane McGee Craddock, Brian Alvarez, and Brenda McGee pose in front of the restaurant while it is under repairs. Image courtesy of Facebook. The Kayak Shack is renting kayaks from a trailer in their parking lot. Their building, with its beautiful artwork by Steven Benevides was condemned and plans are underway to replace or repair it. Meanwhile, rentals are available The Wandering Weeki Wachee Mermaids are Found Two mermaids were lost – or took “floatabouts” - from The Hernando Beach Motel and The Silver Dolphin Restaurant – Nova and Rebel. Nova is a blue-haired mermaid with the constellations and the sky as part of her story and The Rebel, a rebel mermaid with fiery red hair and old-school sailor Jerry tattoos. Nova was recorded floating down a Hernando Beach Canal by John Prout, whose video of the event went viral. Steve Daniel used his drone to find “The Rebel” far out in the Weeki Wachee Preserve. Both mermaids will be rescued and returned to their homes as soon as possible. Rebel the Weeki Wachee mermaid was found by Steve Daniel in the Weeki Wachee Preserve via his drone over a week after she went on her floatabout. Image courtesy of Steve Daniel. Downtown Brooksville is Open for Business Saturday offers the Brooksville Farmer’s Market in downtown Brooksville, as well as the dedication of the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation mural on the City of Brooksville building at 9:30 am. All weekend, theatergoers can enjoy Anne of Avonlea at the Live Oak Theatre. There is a free annual wildlife-themed fall festival this Saturday from 9 am to noon at Chinsegut Conservation Center! This year's theme is raptors (a.k.a. birds of prey) and the staff can’t wait for visitors to experience all the activities they’ve prepared! This event is perfect for families with children, but all who are adventurous and young at heart are welcome! Hernando Symphony Brass will be giving a free concert at the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens, located on Parker Ave in Spring Hill, on Saturday, October 19th, at 10:00 am. Hope to see you there. Rebuilding is inspiring, if exhausting. Please be kind to everyone you meet in your travels as we don't know what challenges each is facing. Read the full article

Florida's resilience is being tested as the aftermath of Hurricane Milton continues to unfold, with the death toll currently at 22.
As of Monday afternoon, the death toll has reached at least 22, with several victims having lost their lives in powerful tornadoes that struck the state before Milton made landfall.
Days after Hurricane Milton made a devastating landfall as a Category 3 storm, Florida is still grappling with the aftermath.
The storm unleashed winds exceeding 100 mph, near-record storm surge, and a historic outbreak of tornadoes, leaving nearly 4 million people without power. As recovery efforts continue, many areas of the state are still struggling to regain a sense of normalcy.
As of Monday afternoon, the death toll stands at least 22. Several victims were killed by strong tornadoes that swept through the state prior to Milton's landfall. At least two individuals lost their lives due to falling trees, while another was fatally electrocuted after stepping on a downed power line in the storm's aftermath.
President Joe Biden visited the Tampa Bay area on Sunday for an aerial survey of the damage caused by Hurricane Milton in Tampa and St. Petersburg. Following the tour, he received briefings from officials and delivered remarks from St. Pete Beach.
Weather Forecast For 85255 Scottsdale AZ:
https://www.behance.net/gallery/202907107/Weather-Forecast-For-85255-Scottsdale-AZ
"We've been in constant communication, and it’s in moments like this that we come together to support one another, not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans," Biden stated on Sunday morning. "We are Americans who need help, and Americans who would offer assistance if you were in the same situation. We are one United States."
As residents across multiple communities assess and clean up the destruction left in the wake of the storm, widespread power outages continue to compound the challenges. Tens of thousands of linemen have descended upon the state, restoring power to more than 3 million customers since Milton made landfall on Wednesday.
Despite the restoration efforts, roughly 1 million people remained without power Sunday morning, including hundreds of thousands in the Tampa Bay-Sarasota area, which experienced the worst of the storm’s winds, leading to downed trees and power lines.
Restoration work has been relentless, and as of Monday morning, around 370,000 outages were still reported statewide. The outages have also impacted fuel distribution at ports around Tampa Bay, with reports indicating that as many as 75% of gas stations were either closed or out of fuel by Friday. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Saturday that the state is working to deliver fuel to gas stations and has established fuel depots in severely affected areas, providing 10 gallons of free fuel per person.
Historic Tornado Outbreak Strikes Multiple Neighborhoods
Hours before Hurricane Milton's powerful eye wall made landfall on Florida’s western shores, the storm's fierce outer bands unleashed chaos across the central and southern peninsula, resulting in a record-breaking tornado outbreak.
Three Florida National Weather Service offices collaborated to issue 126 Tornado Warnings, setting a record for the most warnings in a single day in the state.
"These tornadoes were particularly energetic because Milton was beginning the early stages of transitioning into a non-tropical system," said FOX Weather Meteorologist Stephen Morgan.
He explained that as Milton approached land, the jet stream was injecting energy into the hurricane. Additionally, the presence of dry air contributed to rising and twisting motions, creating conditions often associated with tornado outbreaks during the spring.
Dozens of tornadoes have been reported, though the exact count is still being assessed. At least four communities experienced significant damage related to these tornadoes.
In St. Lucie County, an EF-3 tornado struck the Spanish Lakes neighborhood, resulting in at least six fatalities, according to the sheriff’s office, which also faced substantial damage from the storm.
"The hardest-hit area is a half-square-mile community of older modular homes that the tornado completely devastated," St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson said Wednesday. "They are mangled, and there are people trapped underneath them."
Climate and Average Weather Year Round in 36830 - Auburn AL:
Another tornado hit the West Palm Beach area, leaving a path of destruction behind. This storm has been preliminarily rated as an EF-3, a significant classification since less than 1% of tornadoes spawned by hurricanes achieve that rating, according to Morgan.
In nearby Wellington, FOX Weather Meteorologist Kendall Smith described the scenes of destruction as surreal.
"The devastation I encountered is the most severe I've seen so far while covering the aftermath of the tornadoes produced by Hurricane Milton," Smith remarked on Friday. One ranch home lost its entire roof, and cars were thrown several yards across the street.
Amid the wreckage and debris, Smith noticed a teddy bear that caught her attention. It did not belong to the ranch owners and was found lodged in a wall, its red lights blinking as it sang "Happy Birthday."
Another tornado tore through Fort Myers, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.
"The front door blew into the house, so all that wind and water came rushing inside," recounted one storm victim.
Local NWS offices are still working to provide a more accurate tornado count and specific ratings due to challenges with fuel, travel, and staffing stemming from Milton's impact.
100+ mph Winds Pummel Tampa Bay Area
Hurricane Milton made landfall just south of the Tampa area near Sarasota, narrowly sparing Tampa Bay from what could have been a historic and devastating storm surge if the storm had tracked just 25 miles further north. However, the region still experienced fierce winds exceeding 100 mph.
Peak gusts reached 102 mph in St. Petersburg and 97 mph in Tampa.

The fierce winds ripped the roof off Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg and toppled a massive crane from a downtown construction site. Skies illuminated in eerie blue hues—not from lightning, but from the constant explosions of electrical transformers, plunging over a million residents in the Tampa Metro area into darkness.
In Sarasota, gusts also peaked at 102 mph, tearing off the roof of the main concourse at the city’s airport, which will remain closed into next week.
Storm Surge Brings Feet of Water to Shores South of Milton
While Milton's shift south spared Tampa Bay from potentially historic storm surge flooding, a wall of water 5 to 10 feet deep still inundated a broad stretch of Florida’s west coast.
In Bonita Springs and Venice, residents returned home to find their neighborhoods buried under feet of sand—an unwanted legacy from the Gulf of Mexico's storm surge that complicated ongoing cleanup efforts from Hurricane Helene’s devastation just two weeks prior.
"We just finished cleaning out this house earlier this week, and everything was completed," contractor Scott Roshak said, standing in front of a home once again buried under feet of sand. "The driveway was cleared down to the pavers, and now we have another 3 to 4 feet of sand to remove from the entire horseshoe driveway, plus another 3 to 4 feet that have accumulated in the garage."
Over a Foot of Rain Causes Hundreds of Water Rescues and Severe River Flooding
Although the tornadoes, storm surge, and hurricane-force winds have passed, flooding continues to affect several cities as 12 to 18 inches of rain struggles to drain from the predominantly flat river systems. Some rivers, including the St. Johns, have reached all-time flooding heights, surpassing levels seen during Hurricane Ian.
youtube
The flooding has resulted in over 1,000 water rescues throughout the region, with more than 700 taking place in Hillsborough County around the Tampa area, according to the sheriff's office.
These rescues included a 91-year-old woman from a flooded home along the Alafia River and a significant operation that saved more than 500 residents trapped in feet-deep water at an apartment complex in Clearwater. Additionally, the Tampa Police Department shared video footage on Saturday of officers rescuing a man who was stuck inside his truck amid the widespread flooding caused by Hurricane Milton. Police stated that the rescue occurred while officers were delivering supplies to residents in North Tampa. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was successfully pulled from his truck and brought to safety.
Moreover, sinkholes have begun to appear along Milton’s path, damaging sidewalks, streets, and even homes.
The National Weather Service warns that flooding impacts could persist for days or even weeks.

Garbage Containers for Rent in Milton
Do you need trash removed in Milton area? With that, Ecostar Disposal can assist. For whatever kind of waste removal that you may require, dumpster rentals are an excellent choice.
There are numerous benefits to renting a dumpster, some of which are mentioned here.
The whole expense is decreased
There are several ways to get rid of undesirable rubbish, but renting a dumpster is currently the most affordable option. The only expense you will have been the dumpster rental charge, which is surprisingly little and can fit into virtually any project budget. This comes with no further expenses.
For jobs with a short deadline, it is ideal
You’ve been trying for a while to clear up your messy attic, but you can’t seem to find a practical solution? Perhaps you’ve made every attempt, but to no success, to get rid of the scrap metal in your yard. Choosing Garbage Containers for Rent in Milton from Ecostar Disposal is a terrific alternative if you need to get rid of some waste quickly and conveniently without going over budget.
Its Applicability Is Not Limited
While there are numerous circumstances in which renting a dumpster can be helpful, there may be limitations on the types of waste that other garbage management solutions can handle. Renting a dumpster gives you an adaptable resource for handling the issue, regardless of where the rubbish needs to be removed. Additionally, practically any kind of rubbish that has to be removed can be handled by this procedure.
Naturally Green and Environmentally Aware
If there is insufficient effective management, the wrong location might be chosen for garbage disposal. Recyclables will not receive the right care if they are disposed of in a landfill, where they will remain for a very long period. By correctly sorting and disposing of your waste, you can reduce the environmental effect of your project when you rent a dumpster.
It gets a lot easier to clean
Whether you’re cleaning up a few spots in the spring or conducting a huge home repair, having a dumpster rental on hand is a terrific benefit. You’ll be able to get rid of all the rubbish you need to get rid of quickly and easily. A task that seemed overwhelming at the beginning of the project has become lot more manageable and simpler thanks to dumpster rentals.
Conclusion In conclusion, hiring seasoned Self Service Dumpster Rental Services can greatly simplify waste disposal and cleanup. They will not only deliver a dumpster to you whenever it is convenient for you, but they will also take the appropriate actions to dispose of your waste in a morally and legally compliant manner. You can save time and work by not having to constantly load a pickup truck when there is a dumpster on the job site. This includes doing tasks like clearing out Grandma’s attic or taking down an old shed. You also won’t have to worry about recycling facilities or garbage cans. The dumpster rental business will remove everything after your project is finished. You should absolutely think about renting a dumpster if you ever find yourself in need of one for an especially difficult task requiring the cleanliness or organization of your immediate area. Completing all the stages will result in greater ease, speed, and safety!

Hope to see you soon!
Message for the week:
The much-anticipated Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus occurs this weekend, opening the door for adventures, getting off the beaten path, exploration, and unexpected opportunities. This conjunction occurs every 14 years, and historically, has shown to be a time of major new beginnings and breakthroughs—in the arts, sciences, technology and lifestyles:
Music, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis, Bo Diddley, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, and Joni Mitchel all launched their first albums during a Jupiter/Uranus conjunction.
Film: Charlie Chaplin’s “Charlie”, first talkies, Monty Python, Spielberg, Scorsese, Polanski, Paul Newman, and Woody Allen all launched their first movies. Notable films: Easy Rider and Alice’s Restaurant exemplified the spirit of this conjunction.
Technology firsts: telegraph, light bulb radio broadcast, TV transmission, internet, computer, quantum physics. space flight, wright brothers, and the Moon landing
Literature: Shakespeare, Milton (Paradise Lost), Dostoevsky, Melville, Dickens, Mark Twain, Henry James, Jane Austin, , William Blake, Emily Dickenson, and Alan Ginsberg all published their first writings, again, during Jupiter/Uranus conjunctions.
Cultural: Woodstock as well as 16 other mass music festivals.
This is a wave you will want to catch—if you are ready to launch something, this is the ideal time. In general, this transit is so positive in its potential, the only downside might be not taking advantage of an unexpected opportunity that presents itself. The heads up this week is to stay open to new experiences and unexpected opportunities.
Mercury (the mind), Venus (values) and Chiron (the wounded healer) are all conjunct this week in Aries—a good time to draw on the strength of courage for moving forward, and perhaps bolster others who may lack courage.
Monday: Mercury is conjunct Chiron—you may be called on to motivate a co-worker, friend, or family member to move forward with confidence. The Moon is in Cancer square to the Sun in Aries, while also being in a flowing trine to Neptune. You may experience some push-pull within yourself as to whether to be cautious or bold, with the Aries/Cancer square—draw on faith (Neptune) to proceed. The Moon will be moving into high-spirited Leo this evening.
Tuesday: Let your light shine today with the Moon in big-hearted Leo with no aspects. “Put a little love in your heart”, are great lyrics to carry as a mantra to take advantage of this unimpeded Leo energy.
Wednesday: This is a good day to unleash your inner rebel and push yourself to be more innovative and to reach for the stars, with the Moon in confident, creative Leo and motivated by the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction. The Moon in a supportive trine the Mercury/Chiron conjunction will facilitate communication and persuasiveness.
Thursday: This is a good day for spring cleaning with the Moon entering fastidious Virgo this morning. This is excellent for tackling some of the “to do” list, getting rid of clutter and old stuff, and generally getting your life to run more efficiently.
Friday: The Sun enters quality-seeking Taurus this morning, initiating a month of enhancing security and the quality of your life. A little bit of luck is in the air with Mars sextile to the fortunate Jupiter/Uranus conjunction—act on unexpected opportunities. The Moon is in task-oriented Virgo, and you may feel pressure to get everything done before the weekend with an opposition to pressure laden Saturn this afternoon—Breathe!
Saturday: A potent day in the heavens with much going on. The much-anticipated Jupiter/Uranus conjunction occurs today—stay open to unexpected opportunities and stretch your wings to catch hold of the updraft. The Moon is in conscientious, detail-minded Virgo in a harmonious trine to this conjunctionsee the big picture but focus on the next step. There may be some confusion this afternoon during the opposition to the Mars/Neptune conjunction, however a peaceful and harmonious evening unfolds with the Moon entering harmony seeking Libra.
Sunday: You may have to work at keeping the peace today, or avoid manipulative people, with the Sun square to manipulative Pluto and the Moon in fair-minded Libra. Libra, the sign of the scales of balance seeks win-win involvements with others—this is a day to consider to compromise is a failed win-win. If it doesn’t feel fair, don’t do it.
May the stars be with you!
David
