famous comedian actor richie tozier surprisingly getting cast in a horror movie. he loves horror movies himself, and he thinks that this will be a fun change of pace from all his regular raunchy comedy movies and stand up shows, so he takes the job.

it’s a good gig, his costars and the crew are good to work with, and richie likes the movie plot so it’s fun to film. the only thing is… well, it’s not really a big deal, but… richie gets weird vibes from the set. he knows that they’re filming a horror movie so there are some things that are supposed to be creepy, but…

sometimes he just can’t shake the feeling that sometimes he’s being watched. and no, not being watched by the cameras and the crew while he acts, but rather being watched while he’s rehearsing lines in his dressing room. sometimes he thinks he hears noises- footsteps and strange, whispering voices, but when he looks around, he doesn’t see anyone. sometimes he even swears he sees someone standing across the set, someone he recognize from the crew, only for them to seemingly disappear before he can get a good look.

but richie’s sure it’s nothing. at least, he is until one night, about a month into filming. he decides to stay late one night after filming ends for the day so that he can rehearse his lines a little more- there's one scene that he just can't get a grip on yet, and he wants to practice before they film it the next day. and it's that night, when richie is standing on the creepy haunted house set alone, that he feels it- that sense of watching. he hears creaking around him, and it suddenly gets a lot colder than it should be in mid-june. but then, he turns around... and he sees it.

richie didn't believe in ghosts, but he can't deny that standing across from him on the set, is a real, honest-to-god, transparent ghost.

the ghost appears and disappears before richie can even really process it all, but he knows what he saw. and even though he wastes no time getting the hell out of that building, richie can't stop thinking about that ghost for the rest of the night.

out of all places on earth, eddie kaspbrak isn't sure why he's been destined to haunt a movie set. he's pretty sure he didn't die here- but then again, he can't quite remember much from his life, so who knows. maybe he did.

but at least haunting a movie set of an old haunted house is a lot more entertaining than a real haunted house. he doesn't do much haunting, though- he stays out of people's way, he tries his best to stay hidden.

he wouldn't be a ghost, though, if he didn't find at least some entertainment in scaring people- especially when the movies being filmed on set are horror movies, and especially when the lead actor of the movie decides to stay late one night, by himself. the perfect victim for a harmless, little scare.

except, eddie's fun little scare doesn't go quite according to plan... when the next day, that lead actor comes back, and sets up a ouija board in his dressing room, and tries to talk to "the ghost i saw yesterday night", asking if they're in the room with him. eddie is a little surprised- this has never happened before. usually when he scares people, they just try to brush it off as their imagination.

but now, as he's looking down at this man sitting in front of a spirit board, waiting for a response... eddie thinks, why not?

he sits down on the opposite side of the board, and moves the planchette to YES.

inspired by @soft-pine's post, i'd like to try to break down the tight timeline between the end of 14x17 (mary's death) and the end of 15x03 (cas leaving).

short version: it may be as little as two weeks, and is likely no more than 3 weeks.

longer version: i've been trying to track the timeline of spn all through my rewatch. there are some points where it's very easy, and some where it's not. this is a maddeningly unclear timeline.

however, there are two confirmed bookends. one, 14x13 is conclusively stated to take place on february 7, 2019. two, 15x04 is conclusively stated to take place in early november 2019 (november 5-7, to be exact). so everything has to take place between february 7 and november 5.

my original thought was that 14x19 was taking place around april 18 - there's a poster that shows a book talk based on a book that has been recently launched (according to the dialogue). and all the other posters are from past events. however, there's a throwaway line in 15x02 - chuck mentions the game of thrones ending, which aired may 19, 2019. so 15x02 most likely takes place after that.

the thing that trip me up the most is the fact that there's snow on the ground in 14x17 and 14x18. that's what makes me think this is taking place in late spring, but there's no way to know for sure. and i'm actually okay writing this off as "feature of our world that doesn't apply to their world." same with the indicators of summer in early season 15. most of the time, with some exceptions, episodes take place in the spn universe around the same time they air in our universe (this is true for 14x13 and 15x04, our bookends).

while i can't state when this takes place in terms of months and days, i can give you the number of days it takes place over. just know that those days could be a stretch in april or in august - anywhere between february 7 and november 5. ***update! in 15x11 the sheriff references sam starting an fbi file on jack "last spring." this would make the most sense when he was soulless, so april/may would make sense here. this does, of course, mean that atomic monsters takes place months after the rupture.

so what is the timeline? here's the best i can do, pieced together from scripts and transcripts. i'm not going to cite evidence for each day line-by-line, but you are welcome to take a look at the transcripts or ask me to clarify if something is confusing.

i'll refer to mary's death as day 1, and all other days will be numbered accordingly.

14x18 absence: starts soon after the end of 14x17, maybe a few hours. it begins at night on day 1. when jack arrives at rowena's, it is the next day - day 2. jack trying to resurrect mary happens on day 2. they drive her body back to the bunker and burn her the next day - day 3. so she's burned within 48 hours, give or take.

14x19 jack in the box: this is the big question mark: how much time passes between burning mary's body, and her wake? there's no obvious answer. i would estimate at least a day (to call the hunters back to the bunker and prepare for the wake), and no more than a week because i'd imagine dean and sam would want to get the wake done relatively quickly, because they wouldn't want to let jack run around killing people, and because at the beginning of 14x19 jack is shown to be still in the same warehouse he was in at the end of 14x18.

i'll put 3 days on the clock here, meaning if they call everybody on day 3 after burning mary's body, mary's wake is taking place on day 6. less than a week after she died. the rest of the episode takes place over at least three additional days. end of day 6/beginning of day 7 is dean crying alone. day 7 involves dean and sam talking about mary, cas going to heaven, and dumah appearing to jack and then them both going to turn the professor into salt (this is where the poster with the april 18 date comes in). day 8 begins with cas returning from heaven, runs through dean, sam, and cas finding out about the professor, and ends with jack bringing the church group to heaven and filling the pastor with worms. day 9, dean, sam, and cas go visit the pastor in the hospital and say they want to talk about "last night." everything else through the end of the episode happens on day 9.

14x20 moriah: picks up on day 9. jack's truth spell is cast on day 10, and the entire rest of the episode takes place on day 10, transitioning to the night of day 10 after chuck kills jack.

15x01 back and to the future: picks up on day 10 right where 14x20 left off. takes place over the course of the night and through day 11.

15x02 raising hell: there is a clearly stated two-day gap - one of the harlan residents mentions they've been at the school for two days. the teaser takes place on the night of day 13 (48 hours, give or take, after the end of 15x01). the episode proper begins on the morning of day 14, with day 14 closing with dean and belphegor meeting "jack the ripper." day 15 opens with harlan residents trying to plan their escape and rowena's arrival. dean and ketch meet kevin at the end of day 15. the rest of the episode takes place on day 16.

15x03 the rupture: begins on a new day. i'm guessing day 17, but it could be day 18. probably not much later than that, since the warding is failing at the end of 15x02 and it seems very urgent. i'll say day 17 but know there's a little wiggle room here. the entire episode takes place in the course of one day, with the episode ending at night back at the bunker. the script says "some time has passed, at least half a day" between the closing of the rift and the end scene at the bunker. so it's late at night on day 18, maybe early in the morning on day 19.

the minimum timeline here, according for no wiggle room and assuming everything happens back-to-back, is 18 days. 2.5 weeks between mary's death and the rupture. you can add a few extra days here and there, but it is unlikely that this stretch of episodes took place over more than 3 weeks.

Episode 144 - 7.18 Party On, Garth!

I sincerely appreciate Garth as a person, and as a friend to Sam and Dean. If anyone could've made them feel even a little bit better about the universe after last week, it was Mr. Fizzles Garth.

I also appreciate the expansion of the supernatural universe, especially through the medium of Beer Brands. We talk about beer in Supernatural having meta relevance (think El Sol, Kingdom, and Schultz, for starters), so the genesis of an entirely new category of beer brands (the trendy independent brewery that makes beers that dean ends up enjoying unironically) is fascinating to me personally. I love anything that expands the spn universe like this!

Also filed under things I love about this episode: Dean gets to be the sober one, and for once in his life, it works against him, especially after a season where his excessive and growing alcohol intake had been a lowkey running theme.

It’s time again for the annual accounting of things I wrote this year! I’m pleased that while still a disappointingly low total for me, I still beat my total word count from 2021, so progress is being made, which I’ll always gladly take! Honestly anything is better than that 2020 total at this point lolol! I long since abandoned my goal of ever surpassing the 250k i posted in 2015, but that’s okay! I still wrote a decent bit!

I managed a Pinefest fic, a DCRB fic, AND a DCBB fic this year, which is the first time I’ve ever managed all three, so go me I guess? And maybe I enjoy working to deadlines more than I ever assumed before? Or maybe I would’ve written even more if I hadn’t been pushing at deadlines (and letting myself slack off, even if rest is important and beneficial to writer brain, when I was far ahead of schedule...). But I’m overall pretty pleased with this year’s works.

I tied last year’s fic total, with six, but beat last year’s word count with 117,486, so go me! Not even counting the ~63k fic i’m working on for pinefest this year...even if it’s already written it’s not posting until February. Love rolling over a big fic into the new year every year like this. it feels weirdly like cheating somehow, yet I do it every year :’D

Also slightly cheating, but since I mentioned it last year, I still haven’t missed a week of my eternal rewatch podcast, @spngeorg which is still going strong! Uploading episode 91, 5.09 The Real Ghostbusters tonight! If my millions of words of written meta aren’t enough for you, you can now hear me being grumpy about this show out loud! Let’s get to the fic! Presented in the order they posted:

Mr. Fix It (54,383 words, rated M) written for the Pinefest. It started with a photo of the shopping center sign that Mel sent me several years back, and the instruction “this is a writing prompt.” Amazingly, it was a great writing prompt! and a great art prompt, thanks to @lotrspnfangirl! Dean runs a repair shop called Mr. Fix It with Charlie, and Cas runs the bar at the other end of the strip mall, Steve’s. There’s shady real estate dealings, secret identities, and found family taking care of each other through it all.

lectio in equis (13,016 words, rated T) my first ever DCRB, and I screamed delightedly when I claimed @scarlettmichkat ’s artwork! Actually still kinda lowkey screaming about it. I LOVE this artwork. Like, wanna frame it and hang it in my living room love. Canon case fic, sort of, as Dean and Cas get to play cowboy for a day looking for a lost MoL chapter storage facility out in the New Mexico desert. Plus, Jesse and Cesar being the best retired hunters.

Baby X-File (2,698 words, rated T) Written for the final GISH hunt, a crossover scene between SPN and the X Files, canon-adjacent to both, to a prompt from my team captain who isn’t on tumblr... thank you Sammy!

honey wine  (764 words, rated T) annual deancasversary fic! They go to the rennfest, and medieval hilarity and fluff ensues

Heart Shaped Box  (43,504 words, rated M) my DCBB this year, canon case fic wherein Dean and Cas are the case. beautifully illustrated by @marvfortytwo​ and a cathartic walk through a series of memories. I mostly wanted to revisit . Set within days of Dean rescuing Cas from the Empty, because that’s exactly what happened in canon as we all know (I SAID, AS WE ALL KNOW).

The Ghost of Christmas Present(s) (3,121 words, rated T) annual holiday fic, Dean and Cas attempt holiday shopping together. hilarity and shmoop ensue.

And that’s my year in fic. Like I said at the top, I’ve already got more than half this total written to post in 2023, so it looks like I’m still not slowing down. Since I posted my To Be Written file’s stats last year, I figured I should do the same again...

lol... a year later, two pages and 1400 more words added... i swear at this rate i will never finish writing it all, which I find weirdly comforting.

i honestly don't know if i could pick an all-time favorite. literally all of my muses have been so fun to write for different reasons. and i know "i love all my children equally" is a cop-out answer but it's true. dean and bucky are the ones i've been writing the longest, and while i've written dean less in the more recent years, he still holds such a special place in my heart. he was the first real rp blog i ever made. i remember it was december of 2012 and i was home sick from school and that was the day i made the blog and for about five years i never looked back and wrote him almost exclusively. i think he'll always just be like.. my little meow meow. i love him so much and honestly need to do a proper spn rewatch bc i miss him and feel like my grasp on him has faded just a little bit. he's just such a compelling character and, especially for the first few seasons, there's a clear journey of where he and everyone else are going and i love seeing that. his progression from season 1 to the end of season 5 is just like ... top tier stuff. he's one of my favorite fictional characters of all time for sure. bucky is the next longest, entering the picture around 2015 maybe?? he didn't become a proper like ... staple of my muse list until 2018, but i always was so intrigued with his character. the mcu was my introduction but, by now, i've also grown to really love parts of his comics as well. there's just a lot there for me to play with in terms of his time throughout history and his general backstory. i've loved allowing my portrayal of him just totally grow and evolve over the years as i learned more and took different inspirations. jo.hn w.ic.k is a newer muse (i first made him in march of 2019 i believe) but like ... those movies are just so fun. like the world is so ridiculous and wacky and cool so writing him and playing in that world is just such a blast for me. john himself isn't a super duper complicated character and i don't think those movies are working with terribly deep themes, but there's still a lot there for me to have a good time developing and discussing. especially with his lack of backstory and information about the character, i have a lot of room to be creative and do whatever i want. and i like having that little bit of creative freedom with a canon character. so he kind of really quickly shot up toward the top of my list of favorite muses i've ever written. honorable mentions will be el.ena fi.sher and ste.ve har.rington. they're both muses i've written very much on-and-off for at least five years and i love them both very very much.

so that's my cheat answer.

i think it would be very funny to imagine a losers sitcom of sorts where the events of ch2 proceed as canon (but imagine that stan didn't die and joined them for the fight), except afterwards the losers decide to fuck it and perform some kind of ritual to try and bring eddie back to life. it works, except he is a zombie. a literal zombie, except he still has his old personality and memories and everything. he's the same old eddie kaspbrak, except now he always looks like he just crawled out of his grave (he did) and now he has acquired the taste of human brains- but he's the same old eddie!

so then, in sitcom style, the losers decide to just carry on with their lives.... while also trying to help eddie adjust to his new life as a zombie, while also not even trying to hide the fact that he's a zombie. he goes out with grey and rotting skin and richie tells people that eddie's just really into halloween. imagine the losers all having a nice dinner together, everyone sharing a meal, and then it pans over to eddie's plate, which has a single brain on it. jump to zombie eddie back at work, wearing a suit and sitting at his desk while he types away on his computer.

i just think...... zombie eddie sitcom. yeah.

6.)My first impression of the show upon seeing stuff about it for the first time was "these tsunami episodes look fucking awesome" and "how is buddie beating destiel? I gotta check this out" and then when I watched the first episode I was immediately blown away. The writing was amazing, I legitimately enjoyed all the characters (which is RARE for me with ensemble shows) and I realized I was about to binge the entire show (2.5 seasons at the time) in one weekend. Been in the trenches ever since.

7.) I still very much love the show and all the characters. Fandom can be hard at times but I've curated my experience to make it better. I had a hard time with season 6 but grew to appreciate it more upon rewatch. And I'm beyond excited for s7 and will probably stick with this show as long as it's airing. After all if I can stick around for 15 seasons of the shit show that was spn, I can hold out for 911.

22.) This is gonna sound hella weird but I would put Pennywise from IT (2017, 2019) in the 911verse. Specifically because I want to see Pennywise torture the firefam with their fears specifically related to their traumas (childhood or otherwise). Pennywise could probably cause a lot of interesting calls. And also the firefam could hella gang up to take Pennywise out and I know they would succeed.

i watched supernatural around the time it aired, when i was entirely too young to be watching supernatural. (i was like 10 some episodes scared the shit out of me) i think i only caught up to the live show around season 7 though because in the beginning i had to wait for the hun dub versions as i didn't speak a word of english

i'm a seasons 1-5 is spn truther, not that there aren't good episodes or stories later, but when i say i'm a fan of the show, i mean 1-5 minus the last 2-3 minutes of Swan Song, i think that makes a great and completed story. i watched up to 10x05 (I think, episode 200), which brought back a lot of nostalgia, made me feel warm and fuzzy and finally gave me a decent point of exit. i never actually finished the show so i don't know much about how it ended, and frankly don't really care about it either :D

the last time i rewatched the series was around 2019, when I introduced my partner to it. it was an influential show for me and i wanted to show it to him, and it was really exciting to see what he makes of it as a first time viewer. (for the record he loved it, but agreed that 5x22 is a great ending and wasn't interested in staying on as a viewer with so many other options out there)

i started this rewatch, because i got into phasmophobia recently (again? sorta), and the ghost stuff reminded me of supernatural

season one thoughts

(1x01 - Pilot) i kind of... forgot that it's supposed to be a surprise that Jess dies. now every time i watch this episode, i'll think of my partner's "oh shit i didn't expect that"

(1×05 - Bloody Mary) this episode has always been the scariest for me and i'd consistently skip it on repeat viewings. idk why, the concept of bloody mary just does it for me. interestingly, i didn't actually find it as scary as i always have before. maybe i became a little more tough when it comes to horror stuff // i think mobile tumblr fucked this paragraph up and idk how to fix it

(1x11 - Scarecrow) i LOVE scarecrow. it's just... an episode i've always enjoyed. Sam and Dean both wanting to call each other? Meg trying to distract Sam from connecting with Dean again? the PHONECALL?? i love this episode, it's a great one for both our main characters

(1x12 - Faith) so this is one of my most "fuck John Winchester" episodes. ffs man, your kid is dying. there is no excuse for this one

(1x16 - Shadow) i like that Sam doesn't fall for it AT ALL. he's immediately like "okay coincides don't happen to us who tf is this chick"

I'm glad too that I didn't know anything about Spn while starting to watch. Not even who the two leads were! My origin story is highly ironic.

I found references to Dean Winchester's Single Manly Tear and the Winchester brothers' (platonic) love in some posts and I started watching the show in 2018.

And I actually stopped after 3 or 4 episodes because I didn't find J2 alluring enough 😳😳 My brain obviously worked less! I somehow picked it up after a few months' gap and got sucked into it so very badly that I'm permanently stuck in rewatching 😄

Wincest happened later after I joined Tumblr in 2019 and got enlightened 😂
