Episode 148 - 7.22 There Will Be Blood
I just realized how threatening the subheading on that graphic looks... I am not actually out for blood over Dabb's nonsense car things... >.>
For those unfamiliar with our longstanding feud with Andrew Dabb over car and driving continuity issues, there’s some pretty glaring examples in this episode. Obviously the Supernatural Universe is not OUR universe, they have cities we don’t and vice versa, you know, like their Lebanon, Kansas is a thriving small town on the show and barely exists enough to mark on a map here, as just one example.
But Hoople, North Dakota to Missoula, Montana is not a 7 hour drive. It’s nearly 15 hours on a good day, on the highway. If that wasn’t enough, they doubled down on looking for somewhere within a 300 mile radius of Hoople. And Missoula is over 900 miles away. So either take this as your occasional reminder that the Supernatural universe is not our universe, and it’s kinda silly to make these sorts of comparisons because of that, or use it to fuel your personal vendetta against Mr. Dabb for not apparently knowing how to read a map.
We’ve reached the penultimate episode of season seven though, and we’re finally almost free of Gamble Era! Everything is coming together now, including a weapon they’re hoping will finally be able to kill the Leviathan, so we get a lot of plot to plow through.

Listen, why did Dean think Seraphim (Seraphine?) Was Eve? He KILLED EVE? Her story over in S6??? That's one but I didn't get
Because she wasn’t “Adam’s Eve.” She was a monster from Purgatory who was effectively the “first monster.” Hang on... there’s a superwiki page...
http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/Eve
the first paragraph there says this:
Eve was a primordial creature born of Purgatory, and first walked the Earth some 10,000 years ago.[1][2] Eve was known as the Mother of All, which refered to her creation of all monsters, and resided in Purgatory along with the souls of her fallen children.
In 7.22, when the Alpha Vampire is talking to Edgar, he mentions being a “Son of Eve,” and tells him “we come from you!” (meaning the Leviathan), so there was a HEAVY implication that the Eve killed in s6 had been a Leviathan (or at least a descendant or offshoot of them).
She was not, nor was she ever “Adam’s Eve from the Garden of Eden.” Just like Adam was also not Sam and Dean’s brother Adam, and Heaven’s Garden in 5.16 was not the Garden of Eden. Sometimes things just have similar names. It’s kind of a thing in Chuck’s stories... Made me sort of wonder if she hadn’t chosen or been given the name Eve in mockery of the human Eve, since she symbolically served the same role for monsters as the First Mother of their kind, you know?
It was Serafina the angel who kept Adam alive all these years so he could find a way to avenge what God had done to them, not some superpower of being the first humans. I was going to pull a quote from the transcript here and then remembered that *I* am supposed to be making the transcript so I better get on that I guess >.>. But the implication was that Eve died a very, very long time ago. Dean, confronted with Adam and a woman (or female-presenting angel at least), assumed she was his Eve, though. Logically, because the assumption is they would be a matched set.

Something Sweet
Sometimes it's worth making an extra stop on the way home after a long hunt.
One of the overhead florescents was buzzing like a trapped fly, and a strong smell of melon in the produce aisle hinted that the store was due for some restocking, but Dean couldn't help but relax a little. This was familiar territory, after four years of living in Lebanon--not some infinitely-expanding Whole Foods where you could grow old just trying to pick out your breakfast cereal.

Am I the only one that was kind of surprised when they mentioned Eve?? Idk why but I didn’t really consider the fact that she would actually be in purgatory WITH them. Maybe because they spent a whole year there and never mentioned her once???
I’ll blame s8 for not mentioning Eve again. The last we saw of her body, after she’d apparently “died”, was Crowley poking around her body and fascinated that it was still producing eggs, and that he was still able to indirectly torture her “children” by torturing her dead body. Which... ew...
So just the mention that she did eventually fully return to Purgatory actually seems like a relief, in that context, you know?
What I find surprising is that Eve and the Leviathan would have anything to do with one another, you know? Especially after 7.22-- written by Dabb-- where Edgar gave his opinions on Eve. She may have been the Mother of All Monsters, but the Leviathan considered themselves above her, since Chuck had created them directly... They owed her no loyalty, in other words:
ALPHA VAMPIRE: We come from you.EDGAR: Barely.ALPHA VAMPIRE: I am the son of Eve!EDGAR: A pathetic mutt. Hardly one of us. I knew Eve, and honestly... your mommy was a whore.
So to me, it was more surprising that the Leviathans would’ve been at Eve’s beck and call, acting like gofers bringing Cas to her to pass judgment against him, you know? Maybe it was an “enemy of my enemy” cooperative effort, but that’s not how 15.09 made it sound. So maybe Eve cleaned house.
The Leviathans were always a “hive mind” species, too, you know? “Cut off the head and the body will flounder.” If the “Eve sucks” propaganda had been Dick’s party line, maybe she had Dick bibbed and instituted a new policy that Eve was the leader now.
Do I think we’ll ever know what truly happened there? Eh, likely not. But it is interesting to wonder about.
