Okay okay hear me out guys, Charlie is Agent 4 while Casper is Agent 8 (Eight). Charlie's working with "shady people" aka the New Squidbeak Splatoon while at the same time, Casper is fighting their way back to the surface, back to him. They don't remember much, but they know there's someone up there on the surface, waiting for them. They yearn to find them, to complete the missing pieces in their memories, to find who made them whole so long ago...

(Minor Side Order spoilers below ig, mostly just one of the bosses???)

Think about how scary the Parallel Canon fights would be for Casper, having to fight a robotic husk of their lover. A robotic husk of Charlie, Agent 4.

So Casper (Eight) was adopted by a pair of inklings, but as they grew, it didn't take long for their parents to realize that Casper was an Octarian, and with that knowledge, they kinda just, sent them back to Octo Valley. They went into intensive military training since they were brought back so late (Around junior year of high school??). They spent years in Octo Valley, and was an Octoling solider. They attended the Octobot fight, and heard the Inkantation. While before, they were never quite comfortable in the Valley, they stayed, but after hearing the song, they couldn't stay, not when Charlie was up on the surface, probably in the dark about where they went. So they escaped, leaving their station in the dead of night (though, after the Great Zapfish was taken back to Inkopolis Plaza, it was nearly always night in the Octarian domes..). Somewhere along the way, they got lost, and encountered Agent 3 (maybe Rookie?? haven't decided yet), and they fought, landing them in the Deepsea Metro, without their memories. All that was left of Casper was a feeling, a feeling that they needed to go home, wherever home was, They needed to get back to him, but they couldn't even remember who "he" was. All they knew was that there had to be something, someone up there waiting for them to come home.
