Scaline Lamar is a Inkopolis Plaza native who began traveling down to Inkopolis Square for part time work at Grizzco to help pay for bills and her tuition at Inkblot Academy, a prestigious art school in Inkopolis. It was Lamar’s goal to become a fashion designer for a major company, but was turned down by many of her professors, many who said her designs were never going to make it. Disheartened by this, she went to a good work friend, Roe Marin (employee file #7256), whom she’s done many shifts with to vent about it. Upon hearing about it, Marin offered to talk to Grizzco Officials about allowing her to design work uniforms and other fashion pieces for Grizzco’s employee shop. Lamar was excited for the new opportunity, and began making designs immediately, which quickly became hits within Grizzco’s worker base. Lamar dropped out of Inkblot to join Grizzco full time, both as a salmon runner and a designer.

Back down to Anarchy Bay. The small inkling was holding an orange binder tightly to her chest as she stepped off the train and walked through the busy streets of the beach town. She had once again arrived after sunset, hoping that any she would find the Salmonid-owned hat shop empty of customers.

She slowly opened the door, not even saying anything, knowing that the shopkeepers inside would recognize her immediately by smell alone. So she only waited to see who would greet her.

The inkling went a little pale. She was never good at this whole ‘socializing thing.’ She didn’t want to admit that she looked up their file. It was purely just to get their name and pronouns, but now in hindsight, yeah, that definitely sounded creepy.

Unable to find any reasonable excuse, Roe decided to be truthful, “I— Uh… I searched for your file in Grizzco’s system, just to make sure I wouldn’t accidentally… misgender you…”

She smiled awkwardly, hoping that her response didn’t make the awkward situation worse.

Matteo, is it? Hello! I’m Roe Marin, I’ve seen you around the break room a bit and I thought that I should properly introduce myself.

The ember-eyed Inkling just stares for a good few seconds, evidently processing the introduction.

“… Well, then, howdy to you too!” he eventually grinned, leaning back in the folding chair with one leg rising to cross over the other.

Agent 4’s gaze skirts off to the side for a brief moment. “Sorry for not recognizin’ ya. I don’t really pay attention to the people I see here…” they admit somewhat bashfully, their voice barely above a murmur by the time they’re done.

Then, a realization of something. Confusion hits soon after.

“I don’t use my actual name here at work.” they said while squinting, clearly in suspicion as to where Roe caught their name.

The door slammed open as the very upset inkling made her way into the Inkopolis Square Grizzco. If that manager wasn’t back by now, then Roe didn’t know what she was going to do.

Her entire trip back to Inkopolis from Splatsville was filled with her own thoughts of what she wanted to say to that other inkling. Now, finally getting here, she did not hesitate to go back into the offices where she knew Fennel’s desk was.

“Fennel.” Roe’s tone was deep and serious. “We need to talk.”
