Why do sunsets fascinate us so much? Perhaps, it’s because of the beauty with which they happen… As the sun gets ready to retire for the day, losing its fiery shades of bright white and yellow, becoming more mellow hues of orange and pink, it reminds us that everything will end - the good, the bad, the triumphs, the failures, the joys and even the pain. The sun setting is merely the ending of one day that will give birth a new sunrise the next day… Nature is always teaching us something; all we need to do is stop for a few moments and observe it for its lessons to unfold. And that’s exactly what happened when we halted briefly on our drive between Mussourie and Rishikesh to capture this serene sunset! #divinedestinations #spiritualsojourn #sacredjourneys #pilgrimspath #sunsets #naturebeckons #mountainmoments #shotoniphone #mountainsunset #traveldiaries #precorona (at Mussoorie) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-OS-R-nZ7n/?igshid=s4nue29o1hq0

When we reached Lal Tibba, one of the highest points in Mussoorie, we were mesmerised by the breathtaking view of the Himalayan range. From here, one can even view other mountain peaks, like Badrinath and Kedarnath with a telescope. Lal Tibba located at Depot Hill in Landour, is thronged by tourists who come to witness the magical moments of sunrise and sunset from here… Breathing in the fresh air, enveloped by pine trees, and looking far away into eternity, I got a glimpse of how beautiful and immense creation is. It’s only when you exit city life, take the road less travelled, and witness scenes like this, do we get a sense of the magnanimity of life, and how small we are in comparison! #divinedestinations #spiritualsojourn #sacredjourneys #pilgrimspath #naturebeckons #mountainview #shotoniphone #naturephotography #earth #naturelovers #mountains #trees #clearskies #precorona #traveldiaries (at Lal Tibba Higesht View Pt 8.000 Ft Mussoorie) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9_EA3RniXX/?igshid=14x03tjy8wdaq

I was about to dip into one of the most famous ghats in Haridwar called Har ki Pauri, when the locals told me about its significance - Literally, ‘Har’ means ‘Lord Shiva’, ‘Ki’ means ‘of’ and ‘Pauri’ means ‘steps’… These steps were used by Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu in the Vedic times, when they visited the Brahmakund here. Har ki Pauri is also where the Kumbh and Vaisakhi festivals commence their celebrations. With much reverence for these holy waters, I said ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and entered its chilly temperatures. In those few seconds inside, all I could feel was a warm embrace from the Gods…it definitely was freezing, but the passion of devotion outdid any other feeling! #holywaters #dipintheGanga #riverreveries #divinedestinations #spiritualsojourn #sacredjourneys #pilgrimspath #shotoniphone11pro #traveldiaries #travelphotography (at Har Ki Pauri Haridwar-हर की पौड़ी हरिद्वार) https://www.instagram.com/p/B95hr_znUPU/?igshid=cyh7quc4mh26

‘May what I do flow from me like a river, no forcing and no holding back, the way it is with children.’ ― Rainer Maria Rilke. As my daughter and I sat on the banks of the river Ganga, I had a chance to introspect on how I had lived so far – Perhaps not so spontaneously, perhaps holding back and more cautious than I needed to be! The river is uninterrupted and unconditional in its flow… Not wondering where it’ll go or who it’ll meet. It just flows on, ready to ride over any rock, ready to include within it any stream, and finally ready to merge into the ocean. Children are more free-flowing and instinctive like the river… For us adults to inculcate that trait again, we need to visit nature more often, and get in touch with our true selves. #riverreveries #divinedestinations #spiritualsojourn #sacredjourneys #pilgrimspath #motivationalthoughts (at Rishikesh) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9gKJ3THLvI/?igshid=er2ccm3fnli2

River Ganga is considered one of the most sacred rivers in India. Her waters are supposed to purify one’s soul, and accelerate the journey to the ultimate goal of all seekers - liberation or mukti. It is because of this that several people dip into the holy waters of the Ganges, hoping to get freedom from the cycle of birth and death. While we watched the locals swim in the chilly waters, we calmly soaked in the multi-faceted nature of this ancient and mighty river Ganga, also personified as the goddess Ganga or Ganga Maa. We pondered upon how she embodies both depth and ferocity, serenity and strength, all attributes necessary to get across the river of life! #holywaters #dipintheGanga #riverreveries #divinedestinations #spiritualsojourn #sacredjourneys #pilgrimspath (at Rishikesh) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9bQONhHu7F/?igshid=to25ng3sevls

When you taste the food of a place you actually taste a bit of the place itself - the water and minerals, the vegetable, pulses and spices typical of the place… Deeply ingrained also in the food are memories, stories and secret recipes passed down from generation to generation. Rishikesh too is replete with such soulful food… The flavours of pure ghee and rock salt waft through Chole Kulche street, and you can’t help but give into the indulgence. The result – a multi-sensory experience that both energises you and satiates you at the same time... Oh for the small joys in life! #streetfood #indianfood #incredibleindia #spiritualsojourn #divinedestinations #foodforthesoul #rishikesh #riverganga (at Rishikesh) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9QuQBanHCz/?igshid=p39w701zgq87

‘When you cross a bridge, you take a break from this world!’ ― Mehmet Murat ildan Looking at the suspension bridge called Lakshman Jhula at Rishikesh was exactly one such experience of ‘taking a break from this world’. Perhaps, any travel experience is a break from the world, even the ones in which you see hordes of people collected at a shrine, or waiting to get 'darshan' of a deity. Because, in those moments of waiting among multitudes of people, to get across and make your spiritual union, you let go of any element of ‘you’, of that small ego self that you are forced to live with in our regular daily routines. Instead, you surrender to the unknown larger force, and allow it to take you away from anything that you have ever known in your previous experience… Such moments are divine, and such destinations give you a sense of the mystical! #traveldiaries #spiritualsojourn #pilgrimpath #bridgeacrossforever #divinedestinations (at Laxman Jhula Divine Resort Rishikesh) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9Dw_9XnT6L/?igshid=1qpv6lqj3hnda
